Has anyone gone for H1B/H4 stamping recently. I am in the US and I am planning on going back to do somethings and then go for my stamping on the 5th of January. I just wanted to know the situation of things as regards that. I heard visa appointments are be rescheduled in us embassies in India.
Additionally, what are the chances that Nigeria will me placed on travel ban?

Are you presently on h1b Change of status or you opted in for consular processing. If your approval is h1b change of status, you don’t need visa stamping to continue to work. Hmm, regarding the situation, some people might be lucky anyways. But be ready for anything that might come up like short or prolonged admin processing. Some people that went for visa processing from Nigeria had a smooth process but I can’t really say much. But I know someone who I is currently in the states but his wife in Nigeria has be on admin processing for h4 for more than 60 days. There is a lot of uncertainties presently. I pray it goes well and there is no delay considering the new vetting process extended to h1b. All the best

The principal is H1B consular. shes a nurse and the hiring hospital has what you call "cap exempt" which means they are not tied to the yearly lottery limits and balloting that happens on april of every financial year and can hire at any time of the year without limit

For the children, was a seperate application done for them? If the H4 of the spouse was approved, the children also should. Also have you checked the visa status on the state department portal? it changes from approved to issued once completed. if it still says "approved" then some verification is still ongoing at state dept level even if its approved at consular level. you could also check the status on OIS services website. if the passport is ready for collection, it will be indicated once you type in the passport number.

Thanks for your response. The visa application for the spouse and children were done at the same time and they attended the interview the same day. Their passport were returned but collected the I797 and all their birth certificates.No further document required according to the VO and it was also indicated on the white paper(221g). Then after 2 days only spouse was asked to submit passport. No response yet on approval. An updates was noticed a day on the visa status websites after passport got to the OIS services but since then it still shows refused.

I was on placed on 221g at my interview for H4 on October 14th. I got back home and saw that it was already approved in a matter of a couple hours. Mine was in Lagos though. I know someone who had an H-1b interview in Abuja and was placed on 221g, her visa was approved in less than a week after.

The timeline is largely dependent on what they are trying to verify and if they asked for more documents. However, if it goes past 2 months, you can send them an enquiry.

This person had her interview in Abuja on the with children and their passport were returned to them but after few days only the mother was asker to submit passport because the AP is nearing completion. Please any update from anyone that had experienced administrative processing from Abuja embassy. I know someone who is currently on administrative processing regarding h4. What is the average time line for anyone who has experienced that for any categories

Usually when no response ( not denied, not accepted) was given to you during your interview, and they took your passport it means it's under "administrative processing" they're going through your information and they'll definitely get back to you.

Thank you so much. I appreciate that. Her husband is in US and currently in his OPT working. Probably that could have caused the denial. What is suggestion regarding proof of fund. In the 1st interview she used the husband and a sponsor but she want to to reapply now . Her school has been contacted to update the I-20 to include personal fund. In addition, the sponsor is now the main one while been second by the husband and a personal fund. I hope the new strategy is ok. Thank you for your time.

It’s an error from the portal. Just ignore it and schedule a new date. You don’t have any issues

On the cgi portal of someone who had a delay, it is showing , your passport is still with the US embassy. What could be wrong. In addition, she is planning to reapply

I am in a similar situation regarding inability to schedule an appointment for over a week now in Lagos center. I am equally searching for solutions or try the EA .But I am applying for fall for the first time.

In the cgi portal, the EA is not showing after login and this person is applying for the first time . Please what could be responsible for that

Simply click on the provide feedback option at the left hand corner of your CGI profile. Send them an email, telling them you want to book an appointment but your profile is showing you this message. Attach the screenshot of the problem you’re encountering and that’s all. They’ll get back to you in less than 24 hours and open the calendar for you.

Thank you so much. I have done that asking for advise here but the response was that it is embassy’s official prerogative responsibility. I was instructed to log in and schedule. The response does not solve the issue. In my humble opinion,I think that feedback is not designed for that purpose.. I appreciate you. Thanks again.

Just keep checking the mail you registered with. you will be sent an approved mail, then you log in to your profile to book a date.
I created my profile on friday and it was approved on monday, logged into my profile and scheduled my appointment based on the available date.
so just be patient and keep checking your mail, you are on the right track

No you don’t need a Covid-19 test to leave Nigeria and the US doesn’t need a Covid-19 test for entry into the US from Nigeria. However any flights with a stop over in the UK might be an issue due to the new strand of the virus in the UK.
