Military to re-open Nigeria-Niger border roads to facilitate farming, trade

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has said that the Nigeria-Niger border roads will be re-opened by the military to reactivate and facilitate farming, trade, and evacuation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Diffa province to liberated communities.

Over 85,000 IDPs from Borno state are taking refuge at Diffa resettlement camps, established by the Nigerien government in 2014.

Shettima disclosed this on Thursday, while receiving the Nigerien Governor of Diffa Province, Alhaji Mohammoudu Lawaly Dan Dano at the Government House, Maiduguri.
“We have a lot of commonalities of history, culture, folks, religion and ethnicity with the people of Niger. It was the Colonial Masters of Britain and France that divided us with these artificial boundaries and divisions,” said Shettima.

He said the IDPs taking refuge in Diffa Province of Niger, are adequately catered for by the Nigerien government, without being discriminated or abandoned, as Niger and north part of Nigeria share the same historical and cultural backgrounds.
He said that the re-opening of the border roads with Niger will also facilitate the repatriation of 85,000 IDPs from Niger Republic to Borno state.
“I will meet the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Lucky Irabor next week, and discuss with him the possibility of reopening this closed border roads that lead to Niger Republic".
“The re-opening of this road will also facilitate the repatriation of displaced persons taking refuge in your province of Diffa.”

Shettima assured Dan Dano that the re-opening of the road could activate and facilitate trade, farming, and tourism, which had been affected by the Boko Haram insurgency for over five years.

Responding, Dan Dano assured the Governor that all the displaced persons in camps, are being taken care of, including the provision of health care delivery services.
He said that all the female IDPs that gave birth to babies in camps had been issued with birth and registration certificates.

It is no longer news that Super Falcons players have not been paid after winning the just concluded Nations Cup in Cameroon. Also,President Buhari is yet to host them.Super Falcons fan page has called out Buhari and NFF for the humiliation given to the girls despite them winning the trophy.Below is what they wrote.....

'thenffofficial please pay these champions let them have a good time with their families this Christmas! As a nation we can borrow and take loan for irrelevant things but for priorities like this, we leave it till it's worse and then they negotiate chicken change payment to take advantage of one's need for payment of salaries and bonuses. We will shame you thenffofficial until you people learn to treat other people's children right or at least respect the rules of the game that players need to payed! #SFFP Cameroon that did not win is being hosted by the president, our girls that won are yet to be received by Mr. Buhari. All he has done was write a congratulatory tweet. This nation is in a sorry state. We tell ya! Priorities gone wrong'

CareerAkwa Ibom Contractor Returns N1.8m Overpaid To Him By Government (pics) by rem44(op): 8:19am On Dec 08, 2016
Sincere people are in Nigeria. A typical example is Leo Leo Umana, who was mistakenly overpaid to the tune of one million eight thousand Naira (N1,008,000) by Akwa Ibom State Secondary Education Board (AK-SUBEB).

The Ikot Ekpene borWednesday, 7th December, 2016, paid back the said amount into the account of SUBEB in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

Mr Leo Umana took to Facebook to share the news and wrote....

"This is unprecedented, it has never happened,  you are indeed a good man. God ll bless you and your family".  AMEN.

Mr Inyang
Account Section
SUBEB, AKS

I had a contract job with State Universal Education Board (SUBEB). After the job completion, I was mistakenly over-paid with sum of 1 million, Eight Thousand Naira only (1,008,000.00).

When I discovered the discrepancy, I notified the Account Department, and I promised to refund the said amount of money. Firstly, they were shocked by my action as a Nigerian, as it was not discovered by the Auditors.

Today being 7th of December, 2016, as a true patriot and a servant of the Most High God with the fear of God, humanity, conscience and future:

I, Mr Leo Leo Umana on behalf of myself, my wife and kids paid the sum of ONE MILLION, EIGHT THOUSAND NAIRA (1, 008,000.00) back into the AK-UBE ACCOUNT.
Attached here is the Cheque and deposit slips.

In a time like this recession and Economic quagmire, Xmas, school fees, it would have been very useful but I thank God for the grace and conscience to report and return the money.

And I know, by His grace and mercy, I have saved the man's career and job. I am a satisfied man even in my condition.

All glory return to God'

PoliticsMilitary To Re-open Maiduguri-Baga Road December 24 (Pics) by rem44(op): 6:04pm On Dec 06, 2016
As shared by Wakil....

'Military to re-open Maiduguri/Baga road Dec. 24, 2yrs after.

ChairmAlhaji Habib Kekeno, the Caretaker Chairman of Kukawa Local Government area of Borno on Tuesday said the military would reopen Maiduguri/Baga road on Dec. 24 following relative peace in the state.Kekeno, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri, said the council had completed all the arrangements to reopen the road.

NAN recalls that the Maiduguri/Baga road was closed in November 2014 by the military after Baga suffered five major attacks from Boko Haram insurgents. The chairman said that the continued closure of the road had negatively affected fishing and socio-economic activities of the state.

“It is hard to believe that Baga used to be a lively trading centre of 200,000 people where merchants would travel to sell cattle, leather goods and trade in fresh produce.’’

He said that more than 2,000 fish traders and marketers were still producing fish in Baga, but they lacked access to transport their produce to Maiduguri.

“I went to Baga about 21 times and I can tell you that I have met our fishermen who stocked about N4 million fish, but do not have access to bring them into Maiduguri.

“Baga was the largest producer of fish in the Sub-Saharan Africa. Its fishermen bordered from Niger, Chad, Cameroon and some other countries.
“Before the insurgency, more than 300 lorry loads of fish are transported to Maiduguri and other parts of the country in a week. But now, no single truck comes from Baga.

“Borno get its fishes from Damboa Dam, Aloa Dam, River Yobe, others from Chad Republic, but there is no access road leading to these places anymore,’’ Kekeno said.

May Almighty Allah restore permanent peace May Allah (SWT) return and consolidate peace, security and prosperity to Kukawa Local Government, Borno State and Nigeria in general and May the souls of all our departed Brothers, sons and daughters of Borno rest in peace.

I thank you for listening, reading and for your patience.
God Bless you all.
Hon Habib Kekeno
Caretaker Chairman of Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria

Christianity EtcPastor Ignila Gives Botswana Widow $1000, Gives Her Son Scholarship (Pics) by rem44(op): 12:36pm On Dec 02, 2016
Philanthropic shepherd in charge of Champions Royal Assembly, Bro Joshua Iginla has put a significant smile on the face of another poor widow in far away Botswana on Thursday , December 1st, 2016.
The man with a large heart touched the widow's life during the Botswana prophetic invasion which began same day. During the prophetic service , he picked her out by prophesy and revealed to her her darkest issues. The shocked woman was dumbfounded and she got the greatest surprise when he dashed her a 1000 dollar at the spot. Not done yet, he gave her son automatic scholarship to any level of his educational desire. Aside that, he gave her direct access to him any time she needs help
In his words, giving is in his DNA like his master God and no matter what people Say, he can't stop touching lives unconditionally. Why? Because the greatest is love.
We reliably gathered that this gesture is currently the topical issue in Botswana as they were used to prophets coming around for programme and collecting their money . Rather , this man simply known as Bro Iginla aside blessing them spiritually also blessed them financially

PoliticsPics 4rm Acceptance Speech Presented 2day By Akeredolu On His Election Victory by rem44(op): 1:10pm On Nov 30, 2016
All Protocols observed.

I thank you all for coming to witness this solemn occasion that is being marked by this brief ceremony. Twice this great party has spoken and twice I have answered.

From all the 18 local government areas, I thank you. I thank all the women of Ondo state, all the youths and all the men of Ondo state. I thank all members of our great Party, the APC.  Today you have all voted for change and your foresight has laid a solid platform for the liberation of our people. I accept this Honour to serve as Governor, this call to duty, this divine responsibility to lead you wonderful people. I accept this victory with every sense of humility and responsibility.  I thank you.

I cannot thank enough, my fellow compatriots during this election, who had a separate conviction and voted elsewhere. They took the guts to answer the call of democracy to make a choice. I believe it is these resounding voices that have created this worthy moment which is making this victory real and refreshing. I thank you.

Today’s victory is of God through the good people of Ondo state. It is not for me or APC alone. It is a victory for the people of Ondo state, irrespective of which side of the divide you stood during the election. For me it is a call to service and a challenge to perform. Although we all had different points of view before the election but today, as members of one strong, vibrant and indivisible Ondo state family, we are all united and resolute with one single objective to save our beloved Ondo state.

With this new dawn, it is now time to rediscover and reinvent ourselves. It is time to find what we lost, to rescue this land and its people from the myriad of poverty and pains which daily assail their lives. As patriots, it is now time to unite and revamp our fortunes.

As Governor, we will take deliberate and decisive steps to optimally harness our overall potential for greatness, prosperity, peace and stability. YES WE WILL.

I cannot end this speech without sincerely thanking INEC for conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible election in our state. It is clear that this INEC means business in sanitizing our electoral process and strengthening democracy. I like to put it on record that in this election, we witnessed and confirm an INEC that is truly responsible and independent.

May I also specially thank the security agencies, particularly the Police, DSS, Army and Navy as well as the para military agencies for true service to our fatherland. The conduct of these security agencies during this election shows me that this country can be greater if we want it to be.

For everything there is a time. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to weep and a time to rejoice. A time to sow and a time to reap. A time to campaign for vote and a time to Govern.

Ondo state people have voted for me as Governor for the a tenure of four years starting from February 25th 2017, the ball is now in my court to provide leadership that will take our people from a place of poverty and stagnation unto the path of hope and irreversible progress.  This I will do so help me God.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen.
