He attributed the sophistication of the voters to the diverse nature of the state, adding that it is the same reason why there are rarely any religious crisis in the state. The former AD chairman also said that the notion that Atiku is strong in the state is false, saying that those he may commands strength in the nation’s politics but that reverse is the case in Adamawa. On the reasons why Atiku is not strong in his state, he said no one can really spend for the PDP’s candidate’s cause without having to send the bill to him. “Very well; the reasons are numerous. One; among the supporters of Atiku in Adamawa state, there is no one who can spend as much as N10 million for the cause of Atiku without sending the bill to him,” he said. https://www.legit.ng/amp/1266023-atiku-politically-strong-adamawa---alhaji-adamu-song.html

Ike Onyema, who is the love interest of the BBNaija season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, has opened up on why they never took their romance in the house beyond mere cuddling and smooching like Gedoni and Khafi did. In a chat with Potpourri, he said it would have happened between him and Mercy but because Mercy didn’t push enough to get him going, so, he didn’t take the plunge. “I’m not used to making the first move when it comes to getting down with a woman. You know, I’m a fine boy and I’m used to women pushing me to do things but Mercy isn’t that kind of person and we were not even ready to do that kind of stuff in the Big Brother House. I would probably have had sex with her if she had made the move but she didn’t and I didn’t too,” he said Throughout his stay in the House it was all about him and Mercy. At some points it appeared Mercy was making moves to seduce him, with Ike either not catching the drift or was simply ignoring her, especially at the Saturday parties with Mercy always sensuously, provocatively dressed. “Don’t mind her, she was always teasing me. It was just a trap. We had fun but that type of fun when it gets too hot leads to something else, if you understand what I’m saying,” he reacted Going forward, Ike admitted the love affair between him and Mercy was real and still real just as Mercy herself admitted at the press conference for the presentation of her prize. “Yes it was real. The love is real. We are just taking things slow for now. We are still together, we are trying to see what’s going to happen because this new lifestyle is new to me and also new to her. Because of the money she won, we have to be very careful with each other,” he said. On the question of the money Mercy won (N30 million in cash, N25 million Innoson SUV and 5 million add-ons) Ike says he doesn’t feel threatened at all. “Who says she’s richer than me. Well, I know she is richer than me but I don’t think it will affect our relationship because I knew how to handle her in the House, so I think I will be able to handle her outside the house,” he added. Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi has said that he became a billionaire at 25 years of age due to hard work and commitment to duty. Umahi, who made the declaration while interacting with leaders of Abakpa main market in Abakaliki, debunked social media reports that he owns shops at the market and built his house within one year, NAN reports. It was gathered that he said: “I work very hard; I am not a poor person but a very, very rich person. “You can’t use the state’s money and still do all these things (projects) we are doing, I don’t have any shop or any interest in the market.” The governor also said rescinding some of the decisions on the relocation of the traders from the market was due to the intervention of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). He also announced that the Abakpa market would now be designated and called Ebonyi Fruits and Vegetable Market. “We presently have a special assistant on the market; the structures that are still strong are going to be renovated. “The traders have two options: it is either you renovate it to our taste and become landlords or we do it on our own and you are no longer the landlord,” he added. Umahi also announced that due to the intervention of CAN, the government had changed the date of the trader’s relocation to the state’s international market to January 10, 2020 instead of the original October 15, 2019. He also ordered that some of the shops that were hitherto sealed in the market and re-opened be re-sealed due to the owners’ reluctance to withdraw their lawsuits against the government. The chairman of CAN in the state, Rev Fr Abraham Nwali, thanked the governor for his magnanimity in extending the relocation date, adding that the association would ensure an amicable resolution of the issue. Nwali, who is also the governor’s senior special assistant on religion and welfare matters, called for cooperation by all concerned parties in the overall interest of stakeholders. The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has said that the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) upholding the election of President Muhammadu Buhari has shown that the members of the tribunal are men of integrity who cannot be easily intimidated. The BMO commended members of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) for not being deterred by threats and intimidation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its agents to taint the judgement. Chairman of BMO, Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke said in a statement that the judgement is proof that the Justices are men of honour that cannot be intimidated by social media bullies bent on arm-twisting them to ignore the evidence tabled before the tribunal. The group said it expected nothing less than the outright dismissal of the petition like the panel members did, saying “It was glaring to everyone, aside from PDP elements, that the petition challenging the overwhelming electoral victory of President Muhammadu Buhari was not only frivolous, but also useless as Festus Keyamo famously said soon after the case was filed “However, the Tribunal has now further shown how ridiculous the electoral challenge was and made it clear that the President was duly qualified to contest in the February 23, 2019 election in the first place, on the basis of educational qualification and professional attainment. “To quote the panel directly, it said President Buhari ‘is not only qualified but also eminently qualified’ to stand for election. This is a direct message to naysayers. “And to make matters worse for the petitioners, the Tribunal questioned the sense in querying the President’s assertion that his certificates were with the Army even when the Army authorities alluded to it when the matter was brought up in 2015 and even went further to quote the President’s grades in the subjects he sat for. “It is also worthy of note that the Justices were emphatic in brushing aside claims by the petitioners that results were transmitted through electronic means to a server at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). “We acknowledge that it is within the right of the opposition to go to the Supreme Court but we hope that the former Vice President would see the handwriting on the wall and accept that he lost the election fair and square.” While congratulating the President for his victory at the tribunal, National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP) Chief Chekwas Okorie said by the judgement, Justice has been served just as this victory is essentially victory for democracy. He said “It is with joy that we recall that on 17th August, 2018, when the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party resolved unequivocally to support President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for 2019 Presidential election, we unambiguously stated in our address to the Press immediately after our NEC meeting of the same date that we would contribute our quota to ensure that the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 23rd February 2019 Presidential Election would be so resounding in a manner that would make any petition against the outcome of the election to be a “mere and unnecessary national distraction”. Okorie asked the President to accept his victory with the magnanimity of a forgiving father, saying “he should remain focused in carrying out the onerous responsibilities of his Office. The United Progressive Party and its leadership are committed to remain constructively engaged with the President until the successful completion of his second and final tenure as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria." https://www.google.com/amp/s/thenationonlineng.net/judgement-is-sign-judges-cannot-be-intimidated-says-bmo/amp/

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) completely rejects the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal describing it as provocative, barefaced subversion of justice and direct assault on the integrity of our nation’s justice system. The party is particularly shocked that the tribunal failed to point to justice despite the flawless evidence laid before it, showing that President Buhari was not only unqualified to contest the election but also did not score the majority of valid votes at the polls. The PDP finds as bewildering that a court of law could validate a clear case of perjury and declaration of false information in a sworn affidavit, as firmly established against President Muhammadu Buhari, even in the face of incontrovertible evidence. The party is also rudely shocked that the Court took over the roles of the Respondents’ lawyers who clearly abandoned their pleadings by refusing to call evidence in defense of the petition. The court raked up all manner of excuses to make up for the yawning gaps occasioned by the total absence of any evidence from the Respondents. Nigerians and the international community watched in utter disbelief when the tribunal ruled that one need not provide a copy or certified true copy of educational certificate such individual claimed to possess, contrary to established proof of claims of certification. The party notes as strange that the court even went ahead to provide rationalizations in favour of President Buhari, even when all hard facts before it shows that he did not possess the claimed educational certificate and that the Army was not in possession of his WAEC certificate as claimed in the affidavit he deposed to in his Presidential nomination form. The PDP also described as shocking that the court approved the flawed declaration of President Buhari as the winner of the election despite evidence to show the perpetration of illegalities, manipulations, alterations and subtraction of valid votes freely given to Atiku Abubakar by Nigerians. Indeed, the pervading melancholic atmosphere across our nation since the verdict is a direct indication that the judgment has not fulfilled the desires and expectations of Nigerians. The PDP however encouraged Nigerians to remain calm and not to lose hope or surrender to despondency or self-help, as our lawyers are upbeat in obtaining justice at the Supreme Court. This is more so as the tribunal itself admitted that there are several errors in the judgment. Read more here https://thickmatch.com/verdict-subversion-justice-says-pdp-heads-supreme-court/

A landlord was left shocked and counting his losses when he discovered rubbish piled high alongside rotten food and even human waste a woman left behind before moving out from his property. The landlord identified as Shahin Miah, who owns the property located in Erdington, Birmingham, claimed his former tenant who had been living in the house for five years with her four children, vacated on Sunday and left the place in a rotten state. Shahin Miah said: ‘For the last year, she never opened the windows or curtains. She never put the bins out on the right day. I got suspicious when I went to the house to visit and she wouldn’t let me in. ‘She would say she was busy and she was going out. I would ask for a time to return and she never replied. ‘Around four months ago, there was gas works going on in the road and they told all the neighbours that there wouldn’t be gas for a day. ‘They needed access to the house and they never got hold of her. They knocked the next-door neighbour who told the gas people to come to me. ‘The gas people told me that there was no gas at the house for a month – how could she survive? ‘I phoned her but she never picked up. Eventually, I phoned her and said there was no gas in the house and they needed to go into the house and she said she would let them in and then she didn’t.’ At the end of August the woman told Mr. Miah she was leaving and she finally left on Sunday without leaving a forwarding address.
