Please share your experiences.

I stopped buying from NNPC last year and stuck with shaffa because of NNPC's low quality fuel. Due to the fuel scarcity last week, I had to buy from one major NNPC station close to my house. I bought N40K on separate days, about 62Litres in total.

I have driven about 534kms combined traffic, and i am just below the half tank mark.

Hello guys. There's this annoying little thump I hear around my transmission when I brake fully to the first gear. All my engine mounts are intact.

When I first got this car, I topped up the gear fluid with total mlvl. Gear selects fine, no erratic shifting, but this thump is very annoying. some people might overlook it, but I just cannot.

if I brake slowly, or let the car coast before braking, it is non existent. What is the cause and solution?

I believe you claimed my civic could never record 55 litres of fuel to and fro Ado Ekiti - Abuja.

No be me o. We met on the Honda maintance thread.
Besides 55 litres of fuel for 390kms which I belive is mostly highway is outrageous..

I got 320kms with 22 litres on my own car.

I have refilled. 444.5 with 49 litres. All city driving. I will be embarking on a journey soon to see it's highway performance [/quote

Haha.. 😂 Found you here again.

Last week I did 321kms with 22 litres. Combined traffic, with AC sometimes, Shafa filling station. I don't remember the exact kms but my car did 31MPG.

I bought 30 litres on Monday at NNPC, I don't like buying at NNPC though. I am at 355kms now (221) miles approx 27.8MPG and I'm at quarter tank...

All fuel was gotten when reserve light came on.

This is good news! Weldone!
For the vibration when reversing, check the engine mount and the lower mounts beneath the transmission....you never can tell.
So u can let someone engage the gears when the car is idling while you watch the engine as it moves front and back. This will enable you quickly identify the faulty mount.

Regards the rpm, levlave it for now and monitor for a while after u have fixed the mount issue.

The vibration may further reduce once u fix the faulty mount.

Thanks Broski. I just cannot overlook. Some people might be comfortable but my OCD will not let me.

I'm at the mech close to my house
We want to reinspect the trans mount. The AC is even cooler now with the serpentine belt adjuster properly.

Modified...

I had to clean the oil sludge from the bottom trans mount myself and I found out that the bottom mount has cut.. 😂 😂 😂 I guess my problems are gradually coming to an end.

I think this can be adjusted using an OBD scanner.
Try this and let's know.

I will check mine and share the pix. I think its same thing with yours.

Update

After my stripped tensioner has been fixed. The vibration has reduced greatly. The issue I have now is vibration when reversing and the low rpm when the AC is on.

I use a 2007 Accord (DC) and I have same issue. My friend uses same car and has same issue.
Once the ac is ON, you'll feel the vibration and heaviness of the vehicle.

I asked a couple of AC technicians at ladipo and other places, they explained that the manual compressor is the cause.
Manual compressors gets very cold immediately you turn them ON but the automatic compressor takes time to build up till it becomes very cold

My previous car, Camry muscle had an automatic compressor. I didn't feel the vibration but the ac takes time to get cold but once cold....its very cold.

An ac technician said this is an automatic compressor.

How many fans does your car have? Can u confirm if they are all working well? There was a time I didn't know one of my fan has spoilt and I was experiencing all you have been experiencing. I only use my Ac on the move. If I get to a stop, I have to switch off because the RPM drops, the AC stops cooling and I get vibrations from the engine bay. I visited my mechanic and complained. They just switched on the car and watched it. One fan didn't come on. I changed it that day and that issue stopped. So you have to also think in that direction.

2 fans.. They both come on when ac is on. I am at the mechanic's workshop. They need to bring up my engine to rethread the worn adjuster belt.

I'll check it as soon as they're done. Thanks Bro.

In the past, I experienced issue relating to RPM dropping down to around 500 and this causes serious vibration. Throttle body cleaned etc it'll only improve and go back to same in days. I will like you to confirm if you have thermostat in your car because When I finally returned Thermostat to vehicle, RPM became perfect ever since.

I was working on replacing the throttle body but during discussion in a group that I belong about importance of thermostat in cars as against what Kazeems claim, I decided to install thermostat in my car, that was the best decision I ever made regarding that car.

Bro me too. My fuel economy is beyond amazing.

You didn't see my previous comments.

My thermostat is in place and fan works as it should. No bypass... I cleaned the throttle body some weeks ago. The rpm drop is only when I'm on idle. The moment i move and rpm reached 1k+ vibration reduces and everything normalises.

Thanks.

Scan and fix all codes if any
Clean your throttle body
Do idle relearn
If all these fails, then your car needs further investigation. Don't forget your alternator, ac system and power steering system when doing the further investigation.
Btw, which car is this?
Do you have full power or is your engine sluggish?

Honda inspire 2009 model, 2.0L

The code I have is ecm pcm relay circuit open. I have tried to fix that all to no avail. I guess every honda car throws this code.

I'll perform the idle relearn later today and revert back.

Thanks guys.

I have a friend with an advanced diagnostics tool. I'll make further research if it's possible to adjust idle rpm with it.

But if the rpm drops and the car still works fine then ignore it.
Car issues cannot be completely fixed.

I understand my Bro. I don't have any single issue with this car. Fuel economy is superb. My cooling system works perfectly. Just this issue. It means I will not use ac unless I'm on motion.

I may be wrong o but I feel your AC compressor is the issue.
Does your car emit black smoke? You can check the tail pipe.
When I changed my engine at Oyingbo, the mechanic washed the manifold with petrol and also the ejector mouth and this helped. My car runs on a little above 500rpm on idle with ac ON and it functions well.

My AC compressor is factory fitted. Still works fine. I have cleaned the injector mouth as well. No black smoke at all.

Chai! Bro, all Hondas (and most others) that use drive-by-wire do not use IAC valve. The computer controls the idle through the throttle actuator. So a separate IAC valve is not needed.

God bless you o, i don Google tire...

In this case, how do I deal with the rpm issue that falls to 500rpm when my car is idle and ac is on?

Since there's no IACV to clean or change.
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by remi4ever(m): 4:38pm On May 01
We opened the throttle body according to a video, but no IACV found. my car is originally called Honda Inspire, because the engine bay is different from the regular evil spirit

At the bolded above concerning your tensioner, I doubt its issues will contribute as much vibration as having each of the other 4 options I listed above.

Harmonic balancer issues can arise if you've ever had a timing chain work done in the past.

Engine mounts have China and tokumbo. Using China mounts in strategic locations will always give vibrations. Use proper original mounts always to eliminate this. The mounts that cause vibrations on idle are mostly the engine side ones, the mounts that cause thumps on gear changes are mostly the transmission side ones.

If your throttle body is electronic I'd advise you just replace it. Especially if you're sure of all other options being ticked off.

repair the stripped tensioner soon to avoid getting broken bolts along your other serpentine belt driven components

Cc kelvinmnet

Please what's the local name for the IACV??

This is the only thing I can see that fits that name..
Pardon my ignorance.

No. I didn't test the sensor, it was sent from Lagos to Kaduna. I just assumed since it was new, it would work.

Thank you so much for you help Sir. I really appreciate. I will make all necessary checks before installing the thermostat.

Can I please get the number of your plug for the 02 sensor @ Apo?
Tell him from that honda guy, he will understand.

If he doesn't have I will link you with someone else at Zuba.

I am not sure. Doesn't look like it has been removed though.

Sadly, mine is the 2.4L variant. I found out my thermostat was taken out and the fan was connected directly to work with the ignition. I think I should fix that first. Was the intake manifold filter bad or missing?
Can you please direct me or link me to where you purchased the 02 sensor, the one I got doesn't work.

Thank you boss

Check the average mpg on your car online first. Then make sure that your cooling system is working as should. Before fixing, make sure there are no hidden over heating issues ooooo, make sure you fix those first.

I got my sensor at Apo in Abuja here. Didn't you test it before paying?

Hello OP.

Can we please get a detailed breakdown of all the steps taken to achieve this? I have a similar car, it consumes a lot of fuel. I recently changed my 02 sensor but it still doesn't reflect on the OBD II scanner.

Things I changed:
Air Filter
02 Sensor
Spark Plug

Is it possible for the 02 sensor to still be working even while the scanner doesn't show?

PS: I only changed the upstream 02 sensor (But sensors weren't working when I scanned).

Whatsup Bro? I'll try to be as detailed as possible.

Is your car the 2.0L variant?? I hope it's not the 2.4L

So, the first thing I did was replace the O2 sensor, but even without the O2 sensor but with my thermostat intact I got 155miles. The previous owner didn't even know it was bad.
Then I installed a new intake manifold filter.
After that I installed my thermostat back and made sure the fan were not working with the ignition, this made a huge difference. I also changed the engine oil to the factory recommended.

Your upstream O2 sensor is the most important, make sure you get a good one. Someone told me on this forum that it would be difficult to get one, but I got one on my first try.

If your fan is a working directly, then I'm afraid you won't be able to achieve that.

If I didn't idle with AC on for 1hr+ maybe I would have gotten to 200 or 190miles+ with that 22 litres.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

My daily route is always combined traffic, but more of city driving. My previous car would give me 70 miles at its best with same litres of fuel.

I usually purchase tokunbo.

I suspect my transmission side mounts, I can hear some faint thump when I brake or the car downshifts. This car was bought new in Nigeria, and none of the mounts except the top one was bad which I've changed. I'll check the bottom tranny mount tomorrow. Also, the engine hasn't been opened before, neither is the gear. As for the throttle body, It doesn't throw any code and car moves well, so i doubt. The IACV is on the throttle body right?

Thank you so much for your time.
