I am for EVERYBODY and I am for NOBODY………..PMB When EVERYBODY fight YOU, NOBODY will defend YOU…Remi Ode May 29 2015 was a memorable day when the opposition took over the mantle of leadership at the national level. The hopes are high and the expectations on the sky until President Mohamed Buhari gave his maiden speech where he was quoted for being “for EVERYBODY and for NOBODY” This singular quote made mess of the beginning of the reign of the governing party and its cohesion as every cabal let loose of their morals. The first litmus test was the constitution of the National Assembly presidency and its principal officers; the election that produced Saraki was arguably the worst under a sitting president, Senator Saraki defiles all odds to clinch the senate presidency seat in the process insulting the Vice President Oshibajo calling him “a mere commissioner”. A sin the prodigal son was forgiven. Secondly, the appointment of the principal officers at the national assembly, Saraki was power drunk, just like anybody who is drunk. The party leadership summoned Saraki and Dogara and a directive was handed out, names were given on whom to get what position. Dogara in towing party supremacy accepted and appointed the party presented list, again, Saraki goofed, this never happened under the presidential directive of PDP rule for the last sixteen years. The hangover of the presidential speech of I belong to everyone and nobody made him feel the presidential influence no longer matters; he feel he will always have his way thereby discrediting the party supremacy. President Buhari neglected the key organs of the party formation during the cabinet appointment due to ill advise from his CPC allies, there were reports though denied by the presidency that Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu could hijack presidency structure if given too much influence and few days to one year in office celebration Nigerians are still suffering the much needed CHANGE they clamored for. I begin to question the sincerity of the PMB in the formation of APC, if Ahmed Bola Tinubu influence will bring much awaited changes in Nigeria why is the presidency not exploiting his prowess-ness. We don’t want Tinubu to dominate us and we hail the dominance of the CLINTONs in the USA politics, BUSH, the father and the son ruled America for 16 years and Ted Bush recently showed interest in the ongoing process to elect the next American president, the Americans will not complain about this unique family dominance because they don’t care who’s is dominating them but the result. The presidency don’t want Tinubu’s input in developmental policies yet they used him during the process to take over from the opposition when it is glaring that Tinubu has a team and capacity that can deliver Nigeria from this mess we found ourselves. Ibe Kwachikwu on petrol scarcity and pump price increment, I wonder what will happen if Dangote grants an interview and openly declared that there will be no cement production in the next 6 months even after promising that the commodity in the reserve can last for the next 12 months, what do you think will become of the product….definitely scarcity and price hike will be the order of the day because it will result in panic buying and hurdling of the commodity. The minister interview unilaterally promoted the hiking, hurdling and the scarcity of the product in the country and one begin to wonder if this is the CHANGE we voted in and till now petrol still sells for over 150 naira, the longest duration of petrol scarcity in Nigeria witnessed in CHANGE government which eventually lead to government pegging the pump price at 145 naira per litter, Hmmm, what a shame on this Change Agent. This is the same Mr. INTEGRITY that said there is nothing called SUBSIDY during the electioneering campaign. President Buhari should not be an highland to himself as regards appointment, there are enormous political intrigues rearing their heads virtually everyday, at present 90 percent of key positions of government agencies and parastatals are at the hands of former President boys (APC in power, PDP in government) who do not share from Buhari visions and one year had already gone while Mr. Buhari shows no concern, how exactly is PMB going to pay back dedicated party loyalist that fought for his emergence? While I still believe PMB will deliver on some of his electoral promises, however he has set a bad precedence for himself because their is lack of coordination from his team, every member of his team grant press audience at will speaking with both sides of their mouth with conflicting information from the presidency, he’s obviously not in charge and nobody could be pin pointed as being in charge of the national affairs and this question begs for answers as to why BUHARI contested for president in he first place? PMB the TIME to ACT is NOW!!! Remi-Ode ODEWALE |
shala01:For your information ICPC Names Aregbesola of Osun Best Performing Governor in Nigeria. The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has named Osun state Governor Rauf Aregbesola as the best performing governor in Nigeria. DAILY INDEPENDENT reported that the ICPC led by the Southwest representatives, Professor Olu Aina, gave the remarks during a visit to Aregbesola in his office. While praising the Governor, the commission said it expected the governor to be more proactive in alleviating the poverty of the people and be more efficient in the management of public resources during his second term. The ICPC also urged the Governor to consider education and re-orientation as the most important tool to use in the war against corruption. Before leaving the Governor's office, the group presented a letter of request from the commission to the governor for the allocation of land to build a new office in order to expand the operation of ICPC in Osun. |
Obiodunukwe:Don't mind them. The most important thing is that Osun people are not complaining. Let's show them some of the Project being embarked by the governor. |

BROADCAST BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF OSUN, OGBENI RAUF AREGBESOLA, TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE ON THE CREATION OF 31 LOCAL COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT AREAS, THREE AREA COUNCILS AND TWO ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES ON TUESDAY MARCH 8, 2016 My good people of Osun, I am very happy to announce to you certain changes we are making at the local government system, in answer to the legitimate demands you have placed before us. The importance of the local government cannot be overstated. It is where the government is designed to be closest to the people. While you need to follow some protocols for reasons of security and tight schedule before having an audience with a minister, a state governor or the president, you can walk in on your local government chairman or other officials of council. Also, because the geographical space of the local government makes it the smallest unit of administration, it is easier to get things done at this level. The local government is also the ideal training ground for political leadership. A presidential candidate has to travel round the country’s 36 states and Abuja while a governorship aspirant must tour all the local governments in his state. However, a chairmanship candidate only needs to cover his local government and the councillor just his ward. In a democratic society, a citizen should be able to contribute to the administration of his or her local government in a meaningful way more than is possible at higher levels. A voice can be easily heard and a little gesture can be easily felt at the local government, than at the state or national levels. In the advanced western democracies, the local government controls the police and provides municipal services like housing and physical planning, environmental sanitation, water, markets, healthcare and education. Some of these services are already being provided by the councils. Though we are not fully there yet but we are on the path and if we keep at it, we will get there. Our communities also recognise the importance of the local government in development. This is why their various traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth leaders, market leaders and women leaders never cease to ask us to expand the platform of the local government in order to enhance their participation. We carefully considered their request and set in motion the process for acceding to their demands. On June 18, 2012 we inaugurated a committee headed by Prof Mojeed Alabi, a former speaker of the State House of Assembly, to look into the modalities for creating more councils in accordance with the wishes of the people. That committee received 71 memoranda requesting new councils. It wrapped up its assignment and submitted its report on October 26, 2012. In April 2013, we set up a review committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, to look into the Alabi committee’s report. After this, we sent the request to the state House of Assembly in form of an executive bill. The House also looked into the bill, set up a committee on it and subsequently, a referendum was held on February 19, 2015 in which the people of the state overwhelmingly gave a yes vote on the bill. After this, the house passed a bill creating 31 new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), three Area Councils and two Administrative Offices. I have since signed this bill into law. The requests for new councils have been granted; all constitutional requirements have been met and the prescribed procedure followed to the letter. My good people, I am pleased to inform you therefore that in place of the old order of only 30 local governments and an Area Office, we now have additional 31 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), three Area Councils and two Administrative Offices in accordance with the requests which you democratically placed before us. The list of the new LCDAs, Area Councils and Administrative Offices, their territories and headquarters will be published soon and is also available at the State House of Assembly, Ministry of Local Governments, Chieftaincy, Water Resources, Rural and Community Affairs and Local Government Service Commission. The management committees made up of the executive secretaries, deputy executive secretaries, scribes, members and special advisers have acted excellently, astutely managed scarce resources and faithfully served their communities. However, financial and other considerations have forced us to adopt a new parliamentary system which is compact, efficient and better, in the present circumstance. The management committees of the 30 Local Councils and Area Office are hereby dissolved and their Executive Secretaries, deputy executive secretaries, members, Special Advisers and other functionaries removed. In the interim, the entire local government system will be managed by Council Managers for three months. These managers shall be appointed and deployed by Local Government Service Commission from among the substantive grade level 14 officers in the local governments. Grade level 15 officers and above at the local governments should consequently report to the Local Government Service Commission for further briefing. Many would be wondering and asking: why create more councils at this special time of financial challenges? We have also given sufficient consideration to this. With this new parliamentary system, it will cost less to run the new councils and save a lot of money for the government than in the past. The primary responsibilities of our new local government system are sanitation, market management and revenue mobilisation and generation. This is consistent with local government administration worldwide. The beauty of this new system is its parliamentary nature, which requires the chairman and the vice chairman to be elected by the councillors from among their own ranks, thereby saving cost. We shall therefore be saving a huge cost with this new system. In addition, the same number of staff will still run all the councils, as no new appointments will be made to existing ones. We shall make the most judicious use of our revenues in such a way that increasing the number of councils will least constitute any financial burden. I will like to thank the executive secretaries of the 30 councils and area office that have just dropped the baton, for service well rendered to their communities, our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and humanity at large. They have been part of our development efforts and I am proud of them all. I will also like to thank the honourable members of the state House of Assembly, especially the Speaker, Rt. Honourable Najeemdeen Folasayo Salaam, for meticulously and favourably looking at our proposal for a more enhanced council system. I will like to thank you all, especially at the grassroots. These are my people, the farmers, women and women groups, market women and men, civil servants, teachers, senior citizens, traders, artisans, workers, students, transporters, drivers, commercial motorcyclists, traditional rulers, community leaders and religious leaders; for your support at all times, for your faith in us and your unyielding desire for increased participation at the local government. We are a great people and we shall not cease to do great things. Let me remind you once again of the need to support the government maximally by paying your taxes, levies and dues. I thank you all for your kind attention. Osun a dara!

siraj1402:Am happy this is happening in Osun state. At least people can see that the government has done a lot of things to curb criminality by purchasing those APC's but it's unfortunate the Wailing Wailers are not seeing this. The same sets of people that condemned the intention of the governor on nairaland for the purchase of the armored Tanks that what is the level of robbery in Osun State that could warrant such purchase. I am happy the police has put them to good use. Kudos to Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.

HumphreyBold:Bros, how could it be my iPhone? I've bin using iPhone since the first series and am very conversant with every bit of its functions. The Emeka guy at customer sevice was trying to argue the same thing with me but the deduction stopped after I received an alert from MTN that the problem has been rectified. |
MTN has recently lunched a service I named OBT (Obtaining By Trick) My Story on the 19th of November around 11pm going to bed I noticed a flashed massage saying "Total cost of your last sms sent was 15.00 and your new bal is 225.00. This message came 4 times before I went to bed totalling 60.00 deduction from my account. I tried calling the service centre but to no avail so I left my phone charging and I slept. I woke around 5am I met the same deduction message on my screen again, angrily I called the customer care centre and I was able to speak with Kunle, he apologised and said I should call around 8am because he was unable to check my record. Between 5am to 8am 6 different 15.00 deduction has been made. At 8am I was able to speak with one Emeka at the customer care and he was trying to tell me that I sent a particular text to a foreign no which I never did, I was able to convince him that I didn't send any message which he told me that it has been resolved, I got a message thereafter that my issues had been resolved and advised that I should visit the nearest centre for more clarification as he was not capable of crediting me back the deductions. The message stop coming until yesterday morning again. I got the first deduction message around 4:30am and 5 more followed until 6am bringing the total deduction to 15 which equals 240.00. If MTN deduct this amount by tricks from 30,000,000 subscribers on daily basis they will pay up their fine in less than 6 month. Are you having the same experience? Please speak up and let's stop MTN from this rip off and unauthorised deduction service I called OBT. (Obtaining By Trick)

HOW IFE TRADITIONS AND CULTURE IS BEEN RUBBISHED AFTER THE DEMISE OF OONI OLUBUSE II- Prince Oye Ademiluyi MFR Ife, that is rather pronounced Ifè, or Ilé-Ifẹ̀ is an ancient Yoruba city in south-western Nigeria of sub-sahara West Africa. Evidence of habitation at the site has been discovered to date back to as early as 600 BCE. It is located in the present day Osun State or State of Osun. Ife is about 218 kilometres (135 miles) northeast of Lagos. Yoruba claim to have originated in Ife. According to their mythology, Olodumare, the Supreme God, ordered Obatala to create the earth but on his way he found palm wine, drank it and became intoxicated. Therefore the younger brother of the latter, Oduduwa, took the three items of creation from him, climbed down from the heavens on a chain and threw a handful of earth on the primordial ocean, then put a cockerel on it so that it would scatter the earth, thus creating the land on which Ile Ife would be built. Oduduwa planted a palm nut in a hole in the newly formed land and from there sprang a great tree with sixteen branches, a symbolic representation of the clans (Otun and Osi Ife) of the early Ife city-state. The usurpation of creation by Oduduwa gave rise to the ever-lasting conflict between him and his elder brother Obatala, which is still re-enacted in the modern era by the cult groups of the two clans during the Itapa: New Year festival. On account of his creation of the world Oduduwa became the ancestor of the first divine King of the Yoruba, while Obatala is believed to have created the first humans out of clay. The meaning of the word "Ife" in Yoruba is "expansion"; "Ile-Ife" is therefore in reference to the myth of origin "The Land of Expansion". Due to this fact, the city is commonly regarded as the cradle of not just the Yoruba culture, but all of humanity as well, especially by the followers of the Yoruba tradition. Oduduwa had sons, daughters and a grandson who went on to found their own kingdoms and empires, namely; Ila-Orangun, Owu, Ketu,Sabe, Popo, Oyo and Benin. Oranmiyan, Oduduwa's last born, was one of his father's principal ministers and overseer of the nascent Edo Empire after Oduduwa granted the plea of the Edo people for his governance. When Oranmiyan decided to go back to Ile Ife after a period of service in Benin, he left behind a child named Eweka that he had had out of wedlock with an indigenous princess. The young boy went on to become the first legitimate ruler of the second Edo dynasty that has ruled what is now Benin from that day to this. Oranmiyan later went on to found the Oyo Empire that stretched at its height from the western banks of the river Niger to the Eastern banks of the river Volta. It would serve as one of the most powerful of Africa's medieval states prior till date. Both Edo and Oyo Empire wax stronger in traditions and culture till date. Despite civilization and modernization that has taken over the century; the beauty and brilliance of sons and daughters of these Empires resist erosion by the actions and attitude of those who hold sway at the helms of affairs of these empires. Alafin belongs to Oyo while Oba of Benin is for Benin City. Up till date. It was Oduduwa that was the first ever Ooni of Ife. The Oòni (or King) of Ife claims direct descent from Oduduwa, and is counted first among the Yoruba kings; though contest exist in recent time and most likely to continue, if Ife do not call her house to order in enthroning the next Ooni who ranked above excellence in service and integrity, and have clean and untainted wealth prior to ascending the throne. This is because Ooni is traditionally considered the 401st deity (òrìshà), the only one that speaks. The last Ooni that ruled is Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Adele Sijuwade, Olubuse II, styled His Imperial Majesty by his subjects as he chosen to be called. The Ooni ascended his throne in November 1980. Following the formation of the Yoruba Orisha Congress in 1986, the Ooni acquired an international status the likes of which the holders of his title hadn't had since the city's colonisation by the British. Nationally he had always been prominent amongst the Federal Republic of Nigeria's company of royal Obas or Emirs, being regarded as the chief priest and custodian of the holy city of all the Yorubas. The culture demands that the announcement of his demise follow a tradition that is existed for century; but alas this was not done. It is true that the world is a global village wired by world wide web; it has her merits and demerits. Ife tradition became rubbished when the internet and social media announced the demise of Oba Okunade Adele Sijuwade in United Kingdom. This is even before the rest of the occupants of Ile Oduduwa and residents of Ile-Ife would get to known. What A Pity! It is expected that the custodians and promoters of Ife Culture and Traditions would have helped the matters; some did but majority joined the “vagabond” to announced the demise of “Arole Oduduwa” on social media. A Yoruba adage says “Ki a se bi won ti se, ko leri bi o ti ye kori” meaning “we should do it how it done so that it can come out how it should be, especially traditionally and culturally”. We lost an aspect of our culture and the traditions that we hold in high esteem. It begin to fade out right from there. No wonder the aftermath events of Kabiyesi’s demise was not only shameful but very uncalled for. Thanks to the top-ranked High Chiefs of right and left wings who took to media and redressed the wrongdoings. Finally, the announcement was properly made but without the necessary actions that play out the history, traditions and culture of Ife. This generation has missed the pomp and pageantry that follow such event. Those writings of our traditions and culture that we read in Akinjogbins and Fabunmis works eluded us when it actually came to reality. “Aso ko ba Omoye mo, Omoye ti rin iwowo woja” meaning “the deed has been done; no remedy”. Ife traditions and culture was rubbished. As if this insult to our traditions and culture is not enough; the actions and reactions that witnessed the on-going screening and selection of next Ooni is very condemnable. We have read in our history books and writings, and seen in our Yoruba movie, how Oba is made in Yoruba land and Ile-Ife, the source of Yoruba nation cannot be different. Even our brothers in Edo and Warri witnessed same situation; nobody heard of act of playing to gallery and display of covetousness, greed, greediness, materialism, avariciousness, and cupidity on the side of Kingmakers, their associates and allies, and prospective kings. It is on record that contestants who never own a land in Ifeland rushed down to the ancient city to build a house, magnificient enough to be queen palace but never done until Okunade Adele Sijuwade passed to great beyond. Cars of various brands were now been exchanged for conscience, and large sum of money, in millions, that would have empower petty traders and “area-boys and oloso-girls” that now paraded Ife, to become somebody and useful to the society, is now be given to individuals. Individuals now ride two to three cars and building multiple houses in and out of Ife. Have our people so forgotten so soon that “Ile ti afi ito mo, iri lo ma wo” ? Is our conscience is so cheap and can be priced? Are we going to stay on earth forever that people will not say bad we did like we are saying of others now? Have we forgotten that the position of authority as Modewa, Isoro, Otu Ife, Ilari, Baale Ile, Baale, Emese is transient, brief, temporary, momentary, transitory, shortlived, aphemeral, passing and fleeting? Who says we will ride in these cars, live in these houses and spend the money for long? Even if we did, what will people says of us? Ife, whither thy traditions and culture of uprightness, integrity and self-worth? Ife odaaye, afe mo lo ju toto! Another pathetic side of the events witnessing by the ongoing screening and selection, apart from monetizing of the process, though by all the candidates (some look like gift but other when in large amount is considered “buy of conscience), is the politicizing of every stage of it. One can understand those who have taken politics as a vocation. What are the problems of professionals; Migistrates, Tribunal Heads, Academician, Government Officials and the likes that bastardise the whole process. Campaign for position of Ooni with posters, pictures and branded items like T-Shirts, Vehicles and others items? Is Ile-Oduduwa for sale since there is no more land to sell in Lekki and GRA Osogbo? Or where do you expect a contestant who has turned himself to Local or State government in buying, if we can confirm the source, and distributing Transformers? Where was he six, nine and twelve months ago or more than that this people have been in darkness? So shameful are the people at the helms of affairs of the two local governments who ought to have provided these transformers with taxpayer money that will give our people rest of mind than this “greek-gift”, who now turned to followers of contestants. So sad is another trend of negative rumour in Ife that “Iyiola Omisore is from Offa; Apostle Ayansola is from Modakeke; Ayedun is from Ijebu, Ikire and Ilorin at the same time! Who is next? We don’t know!! Anyway, everybody knows that my grandfather is Ajagun Lawarinka…a ture Ife Son of Ile-Ife ; the 48th Ooni of Ife!!! For every investment; there is expected gain. What is going to be the gain of spending in billions on the race to Ooni, when in actual fact there is no or little inflow of revenue at Ile-Oduduwa that will bring back such outflow? Or we intend to swindle around the world the title of Ooni of the Source,Ile-Ife? Everybody should be warned that there is change agent in town; there will be no business as usual on our mineral resources and common heritages in Oko Aderawo! Oba Okunade Adele Sijuwade would have told his ordeal with Change Agent to some of the High Chiefs and Isoros. Our traditions and culture is been rubbished but we can re-awaken it with commitment to labour and dignity of labour. We must embrace democracy and good governance in our way of life; as a necessity for sustainable development for Ile-Ife. We must allow this to reflect in our screening and selection of next Ooni of Ife, without eroding our traditions and culture. Let the legal document work out and government officials that are statutorily saddled with roles and responsibilities do it. No one should usurp other roles. Let Giesi present Omo-Oyes. Let Giesi do it right by allowing each ruling compound nominate candidate(s) and let atleast one candidate from each royal compound get to the Kingmakers. Let the Kingmakers select with the fear of God and inspiration of Ifa divination. Let State government appoints and approves the next Ooni. Old Oyo and Benin are gone as rival but New Oyo and Benin should serve us as guide and towns for us to glory over. “Ife Oye, ejigiri” meaning “Ife wake up from slumber”
