Pythondancef:Bros, Just like you I had to sign in and make this observation about your post. I honestly think comparing the US and Nigerian military is not fair and more like comparing oranges with apples. I am a soldier with the US Army, and we get deployed for several civil activities, most recent was the Flood Issue in Houston. Every state Govt has accesa to activate their National Guard which are soldiers as well. Nevertheless, the US and Nigeria are in differnet climes. No one is threathening the territorial borders of the US, neither do we have experiences with Coups and Civil Wars in recent times. I lived in Texas, and I see oil rigs producing and no one is manning the place. No Mopol, Nothing Nothing, when its time tanker driver comes and transport the produced oil. You and I know that this is not possible in Nigeria. While you have a valid point, kindly use the Nigeria Factor as a lens to make the best judgement. The FG needs to be the big boy, but force is also a tool to get people in Line. |
Do anything you like, but plix in Jesus name, do not wear the Airborne patch. You do not know the history of that patch and never will. Out here in the US people are free to wear the Camo but not with insignias of wars and department. You do not know the struggle to have that patch on, thus do not in any way deserve to have it on. Lets bring this home, na wetin Our Army dey take beat us for naija when we wear camo. As una see, dem don start to dey abuse the opportunity, una see am. We no go know something we go just go copy like the way we copy democracy. This is a crab mentality at its peak. Agreed his grammar is poor, however if you had a poor educational background, you sure will write worse. Advise the graduate on how to improve himself and offer him a job or not. The mere fact that you are in a positio to help emoloy him does not give yiu a right to be shaming him on social media. Are you that jobless ? ahn ahn. Its bad enough that black people are seen as inferior citizens worldwide, we finally have one xourageous enough to writr a letter in english that is not our native language yet you are shaming him or her. make una dey fear God and God gave us brain so we can give him rest. Make una dey think. |
Funny enough, I got mine the legit way. I get your point, we have eligible ladies out here that are ready to love. I had a couple back then, but not everyone has access to such. More importantly, when you reach rock bottom, you will be prone to taking risk. One which includes marrying a stranger for better days a head. It's risky, but if you ever hit that rock bottom either as a B2 or F1, you will understand what I am saying. Also, the trick is not perpetrated only by Nigerians, it's all the immigrant group including those coming from Europe. rinzaugustine: |
rinzaugustine:Bros, I am tempted to say keep quiet however you have a right to your opinion. Nevertheless, it's not easy to immigrate, and successfully engraft oneself into the system over here. Even Abraham, our father lied that his wife was his sister during his immigration process. My brother it is not easy and who among us immigrant living in America hasn't faulted the law to be a law abiding citizen. Is it from using another persons paper to work, or marrying for paper which some turn out good. This woman's case is quite unfortunate and probably a careless one as she could have waited a while longer before filing for her husband. Na all of us be thief na who dem catch be barawo. Thanks k God for your own..Selah |
I had to sign in after 10years to comment on this distasteful thread. First, every one has a prerogative whether to help you or not. Even if one chooses not to help because of competition, it's their right. Nevertheless, IN America people barely have time for themselves not to talk of someone else. Parents live in the same city with their children but they don't see for months because of crazy schedule. Secondly, I came to study in America six years back, and it didn't take two weeks before reality set in and I cried. I graduated two years after and I didn't get a job. Six months being jobless, I took up a dish washer job clearing plate for my mates who graduated with me. From there, I did laborer job, building stores and from there I did Valet, with MY Masters degree in Engineering and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering ( First Class, Best Graduating Student from Nigeria). Living on tips from people. All this was to pay house rent. As old as I am, I cry steady at night. Regretting I made a wrong choice coming here. But I couldn't return home just like that so I had to persevere ND pray to God to help me. Interestingly, I helped a student from Nigeria to squat with me before she got her place. In less than a week, she was smoking Marijuana and worse off brought a guy to the house and the were snagging on my bed. My landlord, was mad about the weed and kicked us both out of the house. Helping someone got me homeless, as I couldn't afford to pay rent by myself. My sister, I sleep for Library for one week and God helped me. Even after I got my papers, I couldn't get a good job until recently. Imagine, 6 years! I thank God I am Inot a better place now but I have a credit card debt of $35,000. This is largely because I fell I'll and was uninsured. Infact them don carry me go court. While about 3,000 I used it to eat. So, when i start getting paid, I have to pay off my debt else interest will stack up to twice the amoint i owed. It is not easy! My friend paid for marriage 15,000$ , two years after she withdrew his immigration petition. Imagine after hustling, pay and the money goes d9wn the drain. The guy is.now illegal and wants to commit suicide. Na beg we dey beg am. He doesn't have a steady job, and now he can't get work permit. Haba, this girl you are very wicked to have this type of thinking pattern. So my dear sister stop being myopic with your thinking. If you want to support the whole of Africa go ahead. However quit generalizing and creating bad blood among kinsmen. For those who want to come, if you don't have a support system have money to sustain yourwelf and don't expect favors from any one. Itso just you, your new company of friends and your God. |
kl_bakare: yeah m surprised.i ve never heard of this kind of thing before.if there were signs like ''MILITARY CHECKPOINT AHEAD SWITCH OFF YOUR PHONES'' at least all these wud nt be happening.i dont knw why dis country is always upside down. There are no such signs in the US Army base I entered yesterday except 'it is illegal to use radar detecting device' which is different from "it is illegal to use mobile phones at check point". Another thing I observed was anytime we approached the checkpoint, the person driver always switch the radio off. Guys, its better we simply obey these unwritten rules, in less than 30Secs we are out of the checkpoint and have other things to do. We can begin to prove rights, get our human rights infringed upon, go to court and wait for donkey years for judgment (We have cases as far back as 1992 pending in the Appeal Courts), spend our money, with the scars. I was onced harassed (beaten and slapped and even threathened to shoot me) by police in Lagos for standing up to my right, did everything to get justice, which ended up as an apology letter but a few weeks back while a Dr was checking my ears for general checkup, he was taken aback at the damage in my ear. The damage is for life, but imagine I let them cheat me for just 1-minute, my eardrums will be intact while karma will catch up with them eventually. |
Happy Birthday to Her. I'd like to point one thing out, why do we always 'over' hype what our artists do in the US ? It beats my imagination how everything they do outside Nigeria is published all over giving them a 'demi-god, enjoyment , Papas status'. Its either we are hyping them 'cos their wives ran to the US to give birth for an American citizenship or we are spotting them somewhere in Europe and celebrating them. The reason for questions is that the US is a 'status leveller', nobody give a hoot about who you are where you are coming from, to a certain extent all men are born equal. For example Iyabo Obasanjo pointed out in her letter that she saw a former Governor of Ogun State and a Present APC bigwig trying to find his way around with a Map in Boston. I cam imagine if he were in Nigeria, how his siren would 've been blaring. My Point exactly is that there is no big deal about our Nigerian Artiste doing something in the US or Europe. Nobody cares, and I think they knownobody cares about it in the US, so they send their pictures over to the Nigerian media for hypes. Kindly note I am not hating, nor am I 'crabing' her, but a Simple Happy Birthday to Uche Jombo would've been enough. |
Raptor X: An American soldier will never ever tell an American citizen to frogjump, slap, kick, horsewhip an American citizen or take his phone and smash it never ever. So pls dont try to create some kind of moral equivalance with your tale of visiting a US military base. You are digressing from the argument which is "Is it an offence to use a mobile phone at military check point ?", however in an attempt to respond to your reply, my cousin said and I quote "They will report me and I dont want my record distorted, They may even give me a 'pink slip' which is like a sack letter". The Americans have records and they can track you to certain extent once the have your name and Social Security Number. I'd like to ask , what data does the nigerian security have about you ? How will they track you for an offence you committed, Even when they lock you up and infringe on your human right, once you leave that is the end of the case for life. In the US, that record will be there for life and can be used against or for you in the future. I am not comparing both systems, and I'd like you to look at these situations from boths sides before making a final judgement. Dont jsut crucify the Nigerian Military. I bet the US Military may even be doing some real human right infringements that You and I are not aware. |
lastpage: And you think this should be the reaction of a sensible and civilized humabeing? My brother, I pray you dont go through what Our Soldiers go through to become soldiers and officers. They are not power drunk, they are trained to be tough, to kill to protect Our borders. Lets look at the trauma of killing, its psychological. No human being will feel better after taking ones life. It will be hard for such person to re-integrate into a Civil Society. My point being that every profession has it struggles, and no one is a saint. I can bet you have been power drunk a couple of times at your office or school. With your response I cannot imagine you being a "Gentleman Officer", you probably may do worse in the name of 'defending' the truth. Instead of ranting and passing insults over to someone else , come up with ideas on how to curb and manage such situations hoping the Power of nairaland will drive the message to the Governing Council of our Military Force. For example, Can we advocate all our soldiers have Psychological Therapy to help deal with trauma, anger and any other psychological problems they may be experiencing. Hopefully, this will help reduce the amount of rage our soldiers exhibit in Public. |
It is an offense to use mobile phone when talking to a security officer. When u are entering the US, as you approach the border control, you are advised to turn your phones off. An elder man once told me he got kicked out becuase he was trying to reach his driver at the airport in the US. Also, I visited a family member at one of the US Army Base (FORT), and as we approached the gate, my Cousin (A senior US Army Officer) abruptly end his call because he did not want to breach security. In fact in his words, 'I dont want these people to get mad at me'. The funny thing is that the people he was referring to were soldiers, while he is a commisioned officer, i.e He was their Senior in Rank but respected them. So its not only in Nigeria, I can attest that you dont make calls around Military Check Points both in the US and Nigeria. |
MR. WHINNIG:Bros, who informed you that US and Canada is 'Saner' ? In my opinion, those countries are not saner, they simply have a different 'demon' they are facing. Do you know, They Can kill someone for nothing in the US and the Accused go free in the name of self-defence or claim mental problems ? Back to Topic, Oshio has apologize but hopefully he will do more than a lip-service and truly help that woman. |
hardbody: You just lied again after I have begged you never to lie over trivial mattersWhich kain lie o, Oga |
anitank: I love such twilight stories, so what happened nextHe is now friend, gave me a stealth nickname and advises me not to jilt his daughter. |
I remember the day my girlfriend's Father caught me, after her many sneaks! I was taking her home, when she spotted his car behind us, Our instincts was to speed off and get to their house as soon as possible. We did get to the house on time, came to get her stuff in the trunk, rushed a kiss and She ran into the house, while I rushed to drive off from their gate. Interestingly, the Father was standing at the Balcony, and saw everything. His car had only one occupant, the employed driver. That ended our 2 years of sneaking in and out, and the Man invited me into his house afterwards. For strange reasons, when he was talking to me I began to sweat, and developed a running stomach. His voice was too deep! He's now my very good friend and advises me not to jilt his daughter. |

I beg to point you guys in a different Direction. It is quite Evident that the Boko Haram Sect attack Two Institutions in the North : The Nigerian Police and The Church In this Both Exist in the same location, which make possible hits, A-DOUBLE-COMBO One. The DCP do have a point, but would have done better If he communicated the threats effectively to the Church Leadership, At best they can install anti-missile gadgets (if they can afford it) around the church premises, and if they can't and the security threat is high, then the Church Should Move Forward (humorously to their permanent site.) Also, Not all Muslims are Fanatics, My Boss is a Muslim and He is very humble, down to earth, kind, with a listening hear and support. I love working with him |
Hmmmn, I'm skeptical concerning the idea to Sue the Chairman. The Police cannot protect him and his family from the Chairman's "Agbero" Army o. He should simply send a Petition to the Governor, and let him settle the matter. |

Beaf, You choose to delude yourself in believing the check was forged, however kindly take a close look at the date and see that there is a numeral in front of the one, its most like a '2' and that makes the date it was cleared be 21st of June and not 1st of June. The second check as well was cleared first of July. If truly this check was forged, why cant the Delta State Government sue its source for dafamation, instead the defended the check saying Obasanjo Farms is their Agricultural Consultant. Beaf: |
