Waiting for that moment .NG becomes N2500, I surely have 10 on my wishlist to be purchased. Though I still have .com.ng for some of them, but just .NG would be far better.

Islam for Muslims / History Of Malcolm X – A Great American Muslim by resultcase(m): 1:21am On Sep 07, 2015
A Great American Muslim

Without a doubt, Malcolm X is the most influential American-Muslim to have ever lived. His life and legacy have been an inspiration to thousands, if not millions, of people. Malcolm X represents not only a true American story, but a true Muslim American story.

You may have seen Spike Lee’s movie Malcolm X which is based on his autobiography. The autobiography was co-authored by Alex Haley who also wrote the story Roots. But if you read The Autobiography of Malcolm X, you can see the development of a leader and a man who is willing to die for what he believes.

Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska in 1925. He was the fourth of seven children. His father was a preacher who spoke out against the injustices committed against African-Americans. At this time, racial segregation and discrimination were legal in many parts of the United States.

His father was killed by white racists when Malcolm was still a child. His mother eventually went insane with the strain of raising seven children. The children were put into foster care, and from there Malcolm soon wound up a street hoodlum.

Like many African-American teenagers at the time, he eventually became involved in crime. Alcohol were rampant in black neighborhoods, and Malcolm became involved in them all.

Malcolm Little started out as a small time criminal. He sold reefers (marijuana cigarettes) and shined shoes to make money. But eventually he graduated to more serious crimes. By his early twenties, Malcolm was selling (and using) cocaine and was a professional burglar.

This life of crime almost got him killed by another criminal. As it turned out, Malcolm was arrested for burglary and sentenced to eight years
in prison.
A New Life

At first, he was very resentful about being imprisoned and hated everything around him. He was so full of hate, he was known as Satan by the other prisoners.

One day a fellow prisoner introduced him to a new way of life. This way of life would require him to leave pork, alcohol, and smoking behind. Malcolm would have to relearn everything he’d beent taught his entire life. And he would have to accept that a man in Detroit named Elijah Muhammad was a prophet of Allah.

Malcolm was intrigued by this new religion and the organization propogating it known as The Nation of Islam. While still in prison, Malcolm Little joined the Nation of Islam (known simply as “The Nation”) and changed his name to Malcolm X. The X was to represent his true family name that was lost during slavery and the African diaspora.
The Nation

The Nation taught a radical new belief. At this time in American history, blacks were treated as an inferior race to whites. Everything from the education system to the justice system to the political system indicated that blacks were a lesser creation.

For example:

There were far more blacks in prison than whites.
Very little was taught about African history in the schools. But every child learned about the Romans and the Founding Fathers.
Blacks were not allowed to vote throughout most of the country, despite the 15th Ammendment to the Constitution.
Blacks were legally segregated throughout much of the United States, despite the 14th Ammendment to the Constitution.
Crimes against blacks by whites were rarely punished, whereas crimes by blacks against whites, and blacks against blacks were punished to the fullest (and often even further) extent of the law.

These laws and practices created an atmosphere where most Americans (black and white) actually believed that blacks were inferior to whites.

However, the Nation of Islam taught something totally different.

The Nation of Islam taught:

Not only were blacks equal to whites, they were actually superior.
White people had hidden and distorted African history in order to keep blacks ignorant of their glorious past.
Jesus was not white as most Christians taught and believed, but instead he was actually a black man.
God’s chosen people were the Lost-Found Negros of America and He would lead them to victory over the white man.
The white man was actually the Devil.

While these beliefs may seem radical to us now, Malcolm X and thousands of other African-Americans embraced them. They called themselves Muslims and
believed their leader, Elijah Muhammad, was the prophet of Allah.

The Nation of Islam did more than teach radical beliefs. The Nation took people who were considered the outcasts of society and remade them. People who were drug addicts, alcoholics, burglars, and prostitutes became upstanding citizens. This was primarily due to The Nation’s strict code of conduct.

For example:

Muslims could not smoke, drink alcohol, use drugs, or eat pork.
Muslims should strive to own their own businesses and not depend on white people for anything.
Muslims could not have sexual relations outside of marriage.
Muslims had to learn self-defense and practiced marching drills.

What? Is this for real? This is pure scam or maybe not. What's certain here is that an seo company is looking for a client or a scammer is looking for a prey.

I have over 40 personal domains (active or packed) and have received this same mail you got not on one occasion.

My ten kobo advice for you is to ignore the mail. If they r interested in your domains, they'll contact you in a more professional manner.

Don't fall prey to this cheap scam!

Webmasters / Re: National Assembly Site NOT Implemented With A CMS? by resultcase(m): 3:37pm On Aug 26, 2015

Was doing some casual browsing when I decided to check on the website of our red and green chambers - www.nass.gov.ng

I must confess that it looks better than it did over the last 8 years. Then I did what I like to do best - view the source to see the code. I didn't see the usual "wp" references that are typical of MANY Nigerian-based websites in general.

Question:
1) Does anyone know who implemented this site?
2) Are they using a CMS? If so, which?

Note:
I am not bashing the use of WP but our tendency to abuse it. Obviously for a site such as NASS, I would expect changes to be made pretty frequently. Any CMS therefore makes perfect sense as those updating the site won't necessarily have the coding know-how.

Its possible its on wordpress but the developer hid it well. The site is using a theme/plugin from ThemePunch according to http://builtwith.com/nass.gov.ng

Webmasters / How To Check If Your Wordpress Site Is Vulnerable To XSS Attack by resultcase(m): 5:26pm On Aug 13, 2015
WordPress is the most popular Content Management System (CMS) out there, an open source CMS based on PHP and Mysql. It is very popular due to it’s flexibility and easy to use, it has numerous themes and plugins both free and premium, but as we enjoy this great CMS, we should be also wary of the threats our websites could encounter through attacks of various types.

Recently, it has been reported that current versions of WordPress are vulnerable to a stored XSS. Cross-site Scripting or XSS is a type of attack using malicious scripts that are injected in to web pages. This security vulnerability accounts for typically 87% of all security vulnerabilities and the malicious contents can be delivered in a number of ways.

In reflected cross-site scripting (XSS), the attacker can trick you into clicking a malicious link. The attacker injects browser executable code within a single HTTP response. It means that the injected attack is not stored within the application itself. Reflected XSS is also sometimes referred to as Non-Persistent.

In stored Cross-site Scripting (XSS) malicious contents are stored permanently on the target servers such as database, comment field, message forum etc. So the malicious script is retrieved when the stored information is requested from the server. Stored XSS is also referred to as Persistent XSS.

How to test if a site is Vulnerable to XSS?

Testing the XSS vulnerability of a website is quite easy. We can test it by modifying a current parameter that is sent in the HTTP GET request. For example, first use the following example in the browser to print a welcome page for a person John:

http://domain.com/index.html?name=john

This URL is modified to add an extra parameter as shown below:

http://domain.com/index.html?name=<script>alert (‘You just found a XSS vulnerability’)</script>

If the parameter name is not even validating and returning the page as ‘You just found an XSS vulnerability’, then the site is vulnerable to XSS. There are various methods to test XSS vulnerability and this is only one among the few known methods.

WordPress Vulnerability

Vulnerability to a stored XSS was recently announced in WordPress. Due to this vulnerability, any unauthorised attacker can inject JavaScript in WordPress comments. When triggered by a logged in admin, the attacker can execute any arbitrary code on the server via the plugin and theme editors under default settings. The comment inserted has to be longer than 64 kilobytes. The comment text will be truncated when inserted in the database. The exploits need to get around comment moderation, that is, by posting one harmless comment first before injecting the Javascript. The attacker can change the administrator’s password, create new administrator accounts, or can have the entire administrator access on the target system.

It is therefore advisable to upgrade your wordpress version to the latest version. You can download the latest version here.

Islam for Muslims / The Conditions Of A Guardian (wali) In A Nikkah Ceremony by resultcase(m): 2:01am On Aug 04, 2015
What exactly constitutes a guardian, as is needed in the nikkah ceremony.

Praise be to Allaah.

There are three pillars or conditions for the marriage contract in Islam:

Both parties should be free of any obstacles that might prevent the marriage from being valid, such as their being mahrams of one another (i.e., close relatives who are permanently forbidden to marry), whether this relationship is through blood ties or through breastfeeding (radaa’) etc., or where the man is a kaafir (non-Muslim) and the woman is a Muslim, and so on.

There should be an offer or proposal (eejaab) from the walee or the person who is acting in his place, who should say to the groom “I marry so-and-so to you” or similar words.

There should be an expression of acceptance (qabool) on the part of the groom or whoever is acting in his place, who should say, “I accept,” or similar words.

The conditions of a proper nikaah (marriage contract) are as follows:

Both the bride and groom should be clearly identified, whether by stating their names or describing them, etc.

Both the bride and groom should be pleased with one another, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No previously-married woman (widow or divorcee) may be married until she has been asked about her wishes (i.e., she should state clearly her wishes), and no virgin should be married until her permission has been asked (i.e., until she has agreed either in words or by remaining silent).” They asked, “O Messenger of Allaah, how is her permission given (because she will feel very shy)?” He said: “By her silence.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4741)

The one who does the contract on the woman’s behalf should be her walee, as Allaah addressed the walees with regard to marriage (interpretation of the meaning): “And marry those among you who are single…” [al-Noor 24:32] and because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who marries without the permission of her walee, her marriage is invalid, her marriage is invalid, her marriage is invalid.” (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, 1021 and others; it is a saheeh hadeeth)

The marriage contract must be witnessed, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no marriage contract except with a walee and two witnesses.” (Reported by al-Tabaraani; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7558)

It is also important that the marriage be announced, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Announce marriages.” (Reported by Imaam Ahmad; classed as hasan in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1027)

The conditions of the walee are as follows:

He should be of sound mind

He should be an adult

He should be free (not a slave)

He should be of the same religion as the bride. A kaafir cannot be the walee of a Muslim, male or female, and a Muslim cannot be the walee of a kaafir, male or female, but a kaafir can be the walee of a kaafir woman for marriage purposes, even if they are of different religions. An apostate (one who has left Islam) cannot be a walee for anybody.

He should be of good character (‘adaalah – includes piety, attitude, conduct, etc.), as opposed to being corrupt. This is a condition laid down by some scholars, although some of them regard the outward appearance of good character as being sufficient, and some say that it is enough if he is judged as being able to pay proper attention to the interests of the woman for whom he is acting as walee in the matter of her marriage.

He should be male, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No woman may conduct the marriage contract of another woman, and no woman can conduct the marriage contract on behalf of her own self, because the zaaniyah (fornicatress, adulteress) is the one who arranges things on her own behalf.” (Reported by Ibn Maajah, 1782; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7298)

He should be wise and mature (rushd), which means being able to understand matters of compatibility and the interests of marriage.

The fuqahaa’ put possible walees in a certain order, and a walee who is more closely-related should not be ignored unless there is no such person or the relatives do not meet the specified conditions. A woman’s walee is her father, then whoever her father may have appointed before his death, then her paternal grandfather or great-grandfather, then her son, then her grandfathers sons or grandsons, then her brother through both parents (full brother), then her brother through her father, then the sons of her brother through both parents, then the sons of her brother through her father, then her uncle (her father’s brother through both parents), then her father’s brother through the father, then the sons of her father’s brother though both parents, then the sons of her father’s brother through the father, then whoever is more closely related, and so on – as is the case with inheritance. The Muslim leader (or his deputy, such as a qaadi or judge) is the walee for any woman who does not have a walee of her own.

And Allaah knows best.
