4. Obsession For Money And Material Things.

There are great dangers when you are possessed with the drive to have money at all cost.
You want to get wealth by crook and hook means.

When someone is obsessed with the desire for money, they don't mind going by criminal means, fraud or rituals just to get money and wealth.

The obsession for money, material things and wealth has made some people to mortgage their souls and eternity to the devil.

1 Timothy 6:9-10 (KJV)
"But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows".

Demas was once a committed disciple of Christ who followed Apostle in the work of the ministry, but he was later overtaken by the love of the world.

2 Timothy 4:10 (KJV)
"For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia".

*It is the obsession towards sex that glues people with pornography and watching sex films.*
There are cases of married people deeply rooted in the practises of masturbation, while others have insatiable desires for sex, which cause them to have multiple sex partners.

*God promised to judged all adulterers.*

"Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge."

*3. Obsession With Sex.*

King Solomon was obsessed with sex.

He had one thousand women in his life.
Implying, he could be having sex at least three times daily with three different women, every month.

1 Kings 11:3 (KJV)
"And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart".

*There are people that are greatly obsessed with sex.*
Their minds are possessed with only sexual things.

*Dirty and sexual lust dominate their imaginations.*
*They only see people as sex objects to feed their minds on with sexual lust.*

Matthew 5:27-28 (KJV)
"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, *That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart".*

1. Father, deliver me from sexual sins.

2. Obsession with eating.

There are people obsessed with eating.
They are always eating. In between their heavy meals, they are always chewing something, always eating snacks between heavy normal meals.

Such people cannot restrain themselves from anywhere and anyone they see with any edible things.

At any slightest invitation for food, they always respond.
Such people cannot miss a meal nor a day without food to embark on the spiritual exercise of fasting.

Gluttony causes poverty.

Proverbs 23:21 (KJV)
"For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags".

Great people are disciplined with their eating habits and appetite.

PRAYER POINTS :
1. Father, deliver me from gluttony.
2. Lord, give me discipline concerning my appetite.
3. Oh Lord, give me grace to fast.
4. In Jesus Name, my appetite will not destroy me.

The scripture warns us to control our tongues.

James 1:26 (KJV)
"If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain"

When someone is obsessed with talking, such a person will not know when to talk and when to keep quiet.

Ecclesiastes 3:7b (KJV)
"............. a time to keep silence, and a time to speak".

Learn to listen more, then talk less.

James 1:19 (KJV)
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath".

Continued From Yesterday.

Some people are like Miriam, she talked too much, even criticizing the anointed servant of God, Moses.
And thereby causing leprous upon herself.

The sicknesses and problems some people are having today, are caused by the misused of their tongues.

Numbers 12:1-10 (KJV)
"And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Hath the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard it . (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) And the Lord spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. *1. Talking too much.*

There are people obsessed with talking.
_They talk too much._

They cannot control themselves nor restrain their tongues from talking.
They must just talk all the time.

"In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise".

*The Bible warns us against dirty and foolish talking. Stop unhealthy jokes.*

_What is obsession?_
*When something dominates your mind or your thoughts.*
When your emotion is possessed with something.
When your whole being is excessively driven by uncontrollable desires and passion after a thing.

*Obsessions could be towards money,* *properties, food, sex, looking for greener* *pastures, power acquisition, etc.*

This was Paul's experience of obsession.

Romans 7:18-21 (KJV)
"For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. *For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.* Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me".

Your greatness lies within God's destiny for you.
His assignments, plans and purposes for your life must be discovered and pursued.

Discover the talents, gifts and potentials you have and focus to work hard to excel in them, with God's help, you will become a celebrity to be celebrated.

4. Hard work.

Proverbs 22:29 (KJV)
"Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men".

Hard work with God's grace backing, produces greatness.
God does not bless lazy people.
All through the scriptures, great people were hard working people.

(2). Pray for God's mercy.
Mercy implies, not receiving the judgment you deserved.
Mercy is a secret to greatness.

1 Kings 3:6 (KJV)
"And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day".

King David became great because he received the mercy of God.

Romans 9:16 (KJV)
"So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy".

God's mercy will make you get results beyond your human imaginations and efforts.
The greatest difference between Saul and David was God's mercy.

"But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee".

PRAYER POINTS :
1. Oh God, have mercy upon me.
2. Father, use Your pen of mercy to rewrite the story of my life.

God uses people are staircase to greatness.
No one succeeds as an island.
You are only are strong as the people which God has brought around your life.

4. Great grace.

1 Corinthians 15:10 (KJV)
"But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

God's grace implies, unmerited favour, supernatural empowerment to achieve a dream, reach a goal and get outstanding results.
The grace of God is needed for outstanding greatness in every life endeavours.
Apostle Paul attributed his exceeding greatness both in life and ministry to the grace of God.
God's grace makes the greatest difference.

Ideas rule the world.
When God is set to make you great, He inspires you with idea what to do.

"For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries".

Open doors are opportunities, they are circumstances or situations arranged to propel you into success.
At times some open doors come in disguise of problems, it is as you act boldly and step into the situation, that the opportunities are realized.

God also made Isaac to become great, indeed, very great.

Genesis 26:13 (KJV)
"And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great".

The Lord will put an end to stagnancy in every area of your life. You will start to go forward and become great.

God made Moses great even in Egypt.

Exodus 11:3 (KJV)
"And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people."

It is not where you are that determines your greatness, it is the great God that will determine it.
