Liars! Buhari never said that!. Anyone who believes he did has been fooled by agents of the PDP. Read any newspaper where the story is carried and compare the headline with the quote of buhari within the article. In all of news papers Buhari is quoted as saying “It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar. This does not speak well for the nation’s economy,”. How does this equate to saying he will make the naira equal to the dollar? |
She probably doesn't even know Buhari ruled from Dodan Barracks, Lagos |
OLADD:Are we talking about the same Sam Nda-Isaiah? Sam Nda-Isaiah refers to General Buhari as his model and political leader. See recent entry on Sam Nda's facebook page below
|
obailala:Exactly. The difference is clear. Buhari has people like Dr Kayode Fayemi, Fashola, El Rufai and Amaechi planning his campaign strategy and GEJ is relying on people like Fani Kayode, Okupe, Reuben Agbati, Omokri and many other jobless young men desperate for money. No wonder his campaign is in tatters. |
egobetatoday:Of course. If what everyone one has to say should be given equal weight and importance then we might as well elect a mechanic or suya seller as president of Nigeria and let him tell us the way forward. Do you think the US cares what a former Nigerian spokesman has to say. You will never find it published in a US or UK paper, even a former Nigerian president doesn't get much coverage, let a lone a spokesman. But in Nigeria just because an Oyibo man says something it is carried in the papers as if it is news. If the man had said electing Jonathan would be a disaster would it have been carried? The news has been published because of political reasons because the man in a nonentity as far as Nigerian or world politics is concerned. |
Why are Nigerians so gullible that nobodies can say something and be taken seriously in Nigeria. First of all, Richard Grenell was never a US ambassador to the UN, he was a US spokesman at the UN. Can you see the difference? It is like calling Okupe, a spokeman, an ambassador. Kai! Here is his profile: Richard Grenell (born September 18, 1966) is an American media commentator and former diplomat. He is the longest serving U.S. Spokesman at the United Nations and briefly served as national security spokesman for Mitt Romney in his 2012 campaign for president of the United States.[1] [2] He became the first openly gay spokesman for a Republican presidential candidate, after being hired by Mitt Romney. He resigned after pressure from social conservatives and gay liberals alike. Richard Grenell lives in California with his partner of nine years, Matthew Lashey, a media and entertainment company executive.[7] He is a registered Republican.[7] Grenell received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and his bachelor's degree in Government and Public Administration from Evangel College.[citation needed] In June 2013, Grenell revealed that he has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and recently started chemotherapy.[8] In September 2013, Grenell announced that he had been declared in remission and was cancer free |
ej77:Watch and see |
obailala:Exactly. I saw the report with his full name Vincent Onyekwelu in another newspaper, I think it was Leadership, early yesterday and it got slaughtered by quick thinking naija guys who quickly recognised the poll was 419. Since then they have decided to publish it under the name Mr O.C to give the impression it is an Oyibo man. This is a criminal and disgraceful act being sponsored by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Kai! The Nigerian government has not been infiltrated by Boko Haram as Jonathan claimed, it has been infiltrated with 419ners. Nigerians stand up and vote out the Jonathan and his 419 government otherwise the image of our dear country will be permanently tarnished by the clueless bunch. |
This is yet another reason to vote out the PDP. How can a ruling party be making up opinion polls and telling such blatant lies? Does the PDP really think Nigerians will decide to vote for them because of what a poll says, especially a 419 poll? |
melvinjames:The problem is the firm 'Kevin, Charlyn & Kimberly Associates' does not exist in the UK register of companies and has no website. You can check the existence of any company in the UK here: http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo This is obviously another fake PDP poll. |
The opposite of this yeye 419 poll will happen. Buhari will win by 13%. North West + North Easr + South West = Victory for Buhari. There are few South Westerners in the current PDP government but a Buhari victory will mean the south west will have the VP and others like Fashola and Fayemi at the heart of the APC government. Plus the South West feels let down by Jonathan so there is no way Jonathan will win the South West. Without the South West Jonathan is going back to Otueke in May. |
otemanuduno:Lol. Abi o. Does Chad that has been defeating Boko Haram manufacture weapons? Does it take 4 or 5 years to order and take delivery of new weapons. Mr President please find another response to give the next time you are asked that question. |
aresa:The only underestimation President Jonathan is guilty of is on the impact the failure to defeat Boko Haram will have on his electoral chances. He didn't give a care initially until he realised he was likely to lose the elections in February. If indeed he underestimated the threat posed by Boko Haram them how come he didn't reassess the threat, change strategy and buy more equipment, like he is doing now, after: Boko Haram captured the 1st village Boko Haram captured several villages Boko Haram captured the 1st town Boko Haram captured several towns Boko Haram captured the 1st local government, brought down the Nigerian flag and flew their flag Boko Haram captured the 2nd local government Boko Haram captured the 3rd local government Boko Haram captured the 4th local government Boko Haram captured the 5th local government Boko Haram captured the 6th local government Boko Haram captured the 7th local government Boko Haram captured the 8th local government Boko Haram captured the 9th local government Boko Haram captured the 10th local government Boko Haram captured the 11th local government Boko Haram captured the 12th local government Boko Haram captured the 13th local government Boko Haram captured the 14th local government It wasn't until very close to elections that he started collaborating with Niger, Chad and Cameroon and buying more weapons. So if we had no elections he would have left the army to carry with the same approach and expect different results? |
menxer:Yet he is Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. He also contradicted this comment by saying they think the girls are in Sambisa forest. |
wakacome:Exactly. Not only did things get significantly worse after three months, Boko Haram went on to overrun and hold on to several towns, villages and local governments and kill thousands of innocent people. It will be an injustice to these people if President Jonathan is reelected instead of being held to account for the sad and incompetent way the entire BH issue has been handled by the government. |
RAJPAL: You mentioned Boko Haram. You mentioned groups like that group. That group has been declared a terrorist organization by the United States -- JONATHAN: And we have also declared them a terrorist organization. RAJPAL: How do you fight them? How do you deal with them? JONATHAN: Well, of course, terror attacks and suicide bombing was not known in our country before. This is a new security challenge we have and once stated would never had our secure -- our security architecture was not designed to deal with terror. It was designed to deal with ordinary criminals. But when it came, we were taken aback about. But now we are dealing up. If you follow statistics, more recently there was attack in a school. RAJPAL: Innocent young children were killed. JONATHAN: Yes. That in terms of the frequency or the incidence of happening, they have gone down drastically. And we are working very hard. I believe if we are talking with me again probably in three months' time, you will maybe praise me that this government have tried in terms of -- RAJPAL: How are you tackling them? JONATHAN: Of course, you are tackling terror from various angles. First and foremost, you must stop them or reduce the effects by a military intervention. That we have done. And that is why we declared state of emergency in the three states where this terror attack is predominant. In Nigeria, for you to enter a house, whether a live-in home, a factory or a religious place, you must get a (inaudible) warrant approved by a court. But when you declare a state of emergency, the security people are free to enter anywhere, even in your bedroom, if they suspect there is a criminal there. And that -- so the issue of sort of emergency help, the security people (inaudible) freely, without contravening any law. And we've done that and it's helping us to apprehend a number of them. But we have also set up a committee to discuss with the leadership of people within the areas to reach out with the leadership of this so-called Boko Haram to persuade them -- because you need to reorient their thinking. RAJPAL: So you want to negotiate with Boko Haram? JONATHAN: Not negotiation. No. It's done all over the world. I don't want to mention names. But it's not negotiation. The issue is not (inaudible). But if you are somebody's daughter and you are not doing what is right, if you are in this secondary school or in any school and people observe that this young lady is not doing what is right, the way she dress, the way she talks, it's not expected of a decent girl. So come to you (inaudible) and talk to you. You come to your school teacher, talk to this girl. That is what we are doing. It's not negotiation. RAJPAL: When it comes to a group like Boko Haram, how then do you change the way they think, when they are hell bent on making sure -- JONATHAN: What makes them feel that way? RAJPAL: That's their fundamentalist ideals. JONATHAN: You see that issue of terror is caused by some kind of wrong notions, either ideological issues or religious issues. And it takes people to brainwash others to behave in a particular way. If you will have been brainwashed, either using religious sentiments or ideological issues, to make people think differently, then you have to talk to them. So we are getting people to -- religious people, senior citizens, to talk to them, to reorient it. And that is what is done all over the world. RAJPAL: So are you saying in three months -- as you say, if we talk to -- JONATHAN: I'm telling you that the steps we have taken so far -- RAJPAL: -- (inaudible) that you -- that the situation, the security situation will be -- JONATHAN: Will improve significantly. I'm not saying we'll get to zero (inaudible). There is no country (inaudible) problems. There is no country in the world. So in another three months, the situation will be significantly better than it was. That's what I'm telling. Source: http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1307/19/ta.01.html |
How many lives would have been saved if President Jonathan had decided to look into Governor Shettima's claims instead of slamming him and remaining in denial? It took a year and over 15,000 deaths for him to accept this and act to change it. Jonathan slams Borno Governor over comment on Boko Haram February 25, 2014 President Goodluck Jonathan descended heavily on the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, describing as “unfortunate” a statement credited to the governor that the Boko Haram sect was more equipped than the Nigerian military. He, however, said he had no plan to replace the governor with a military administrator as being speculated. Following the declaration of a state of emergency in three north eastern states- Borno, Adamawa and Yobe- the armed forces had deployed troops to the states to contain the insurgent activities of the Boko Haram. Mr. Shettima, apparently frustrated by the rising incidents of killing in Borno State, had told journalists after a meeting with the Mr. Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja last week that the dreaded sect was better armed than the armed forces. He said the military as currently constituted and armed could not defeat the sect. “Boko Haram are better armed and are better motivated than our own troops,” the governor had said. ‘Given the present state of affairs, it is absolutely impossible for us to defeat Boko Haram.” However, fielding questions on Monday from a four-member interview panel during the sixth presidential chat, Mr. Jonathan suggested that if he withdrew the military for one month from Borno State, the governor would not stay in the state. “The issue of the governor of Borno State, the statement is a bit unfortunate. I don’t expect a governor to make this kind of statement and if the governor of Borno State felt that the Nigerian armed forces are not useful he should tell Nigerians, I will pull them out for one month whether he will stay in that his Government House. But, if he thinks what he said is correct then I will pull out the armed forces for one month. “A governor should be mindful of what they say. Yes there are issues, but no matter how frustrated you are you don’t make this kind of statement. “On the issue of the appointment of military administrator, well Goodluck Jonathan is not aware that the President of Nigeria is sending military administrator to Borno State.” Mr. Jonathan debunked claims that government’s efforts were not yielding result, saying the nation would get over the activities of the insurgents. According to him, security operatives were working hard though people would not always consider the successes being recorded by the military in the north east region. He said, “I will say that we are worried, worried in the sense that we are not happy when we hear that people have been killed, not just one person but the number that we read in the newspapers. “So, it is not as if we are not worried. We are working very hard and we will continue to work hard. We have successes. In this kind of situation people don’t want to hear about any death. So nobody talks about the successes, but the negative ones are the issues. “It is not as if the state operatives are not working. The Boko Haram attacks started from Abuja, these massive bombings – UN Building here, the Police headquarters was bombed here in Abuja, a market was bombed. So, if the security was not working hard I think we would have even felt it in Abuja. So we are working….we will get over it.” Mr. Jonathan also said that the proposed National Conference would commence on March 10, though its principal officers would be named a week earlier. The Federal Government had three weeks ago unveiled the modalities for the conference, first announced in Mr. Jonathan’s October 1 Independence Day broadcast to the nation. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, who announced the modalities, said altogether, 495 delegates would attend the conference earlier scheduled to commence this month. The modalities were based on the recommendation of the 13-member Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue chaired by former Senator Femi Okurounmu, which was appointed by the government to package the conference. Mr. Jonathan said government would announce the chairman, deputy chairman, the secretary and other key administrative staff on March 3rd and he would formally inaugurate the confab on March 10. He restated that the confab would not discuss the disintegration of Nigeria, saying he would not preside over such fate befalling on the country. “Goodluck cannot preside over the disintegration of Nigeria,” he told the four-member interview panel. “No president, No president will preside over the disintegration of his country. We are what we are because of our size.” The president disclosed that when the Okurounmu Committee toured the country to collate memoranda from Nigerians, it was only person that “suggested a memo on disintegration.” He also explained that the conference was not being organised to prevent the country from breaking, adding that its outcome would not impact significantly on his administration. Mr. Jonathan said he was attending the rallies organised by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, because as the leader of the party, he wants to lead it to victory. On his political future, the president said he was being very careful about announcing if he would contest the presidential election or not so that he would not create tension in the country, He said, “If I tell you I am contesting, there will be issues, if I don’t say, there will be issues. At the appropriate time, you will know.” Source: http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/155704-jonathan-slams-borno-governor-over-comment-on-boko-haram.html |
shikaan:I did watch and listen to the interview very attentively. The question was... How could it have got to this stage, the weaponry of the military was so degraded that they weren't able to hold on to these towns and villages when this is an oil rich nation, the budget now is about $5bn a year for security"? Then he goes on to say "For many years, each government has had a lot of money, governments before you, how do you think it has got to that stage where there weren't the attack helicopters, the tanks, the armoured personnel carriers and the weapons to take on boko haram"? The first part of the question in bold, about the military budget now, was for Jonathan but he ducked it. He only answered the second part that asked about spending over the years by previous government. Also, remember that Jonathan slammed Governor Shettima last year for claiming that Boko Haram was better armed than the Nigeria army but now he seems to accept that indeed that was the case. It took a year, over 15,000 deaths and the prospects of losing the elections for him to realise this and do something about it. |
shikaan:That is called passing the buck, Jonathan has been in power for at least 5 years and has been fighting this war for that long so how can he say the degradation in the military was due to his predecessors? The question was directed at him, in other words, why did you fail to equip the military in the 5 years you have been in power to ensure they can take on boko haram? |
IanDiamonds:What, is this one a true or better representation of GEJ?...
|
The incoming President...
|
Body language is crucial in politics and international relations. Who would you say looks like a President and who looks subservient in this picture?
|
The fact that GEJ thinks he will win means the shock he will have between March 28-30 (taking into accounts when the results will be announced) will be even greater. Please ensure the Aso Rock doctor is on standby because this kind shock fit cause high blood pressure etc. |
Ayoakinkahunsi:Lol Na true o. A lot of people will become reluctant to name their children Goodluck, unlike in 2011 when lots of people will have given their children the name after seeing how successful the shoeless Jonathan became. From shoeless to clueless. na wa o. |
MightyD:Really? What about this promise he made in 2011: “Without security, there is no government. So it is not debatable, it is something we have to addressed and we are working towards that with vigour. But if I’m voted into power within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything even if I am there for the next four years.” President Goodluck Jonathan, 31st January 2011. |
I am sure he will declare a plan, probably after constituting yet another presidential committee. The challenge is whether the plan will ever see the light of day, let alone be implemented. |
shadowgwalker:It is music to ears of those of us who plan to be on the right side of history and March 2 Gr-8-ness with Gen. Buhari. |
Just ten days to the presidential election of March 28, a survey carried out by a National Think Tank Group, has predicted victory for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari. The two-page analysis of the survey, tagged: “Straw Prediction of 2015 Presidential Election”, made available to Daily Sun by Dr. Peter Orji, gave Buhari/APC an estimated votes of 15.4 million and President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), 11 million. The researchers stated that they arrived at the figures after “a careful study of the demographics of Nigeria voting patterns, based on an unbiased analysis of how voters shall cast their votes.” According to the group, Buhari would lead in the North-East, North- West, North-Central and South-West, while Jonathan would win in the South-South and South-East. The survey said Buhari would eventually have an upper hand going by heavy votes he would record in his catchment areas against Jonathan, who the survey said, would garner fewer votes in his areas of strength. However, unlike 2011, General Buhari, the survey said, “will secure substantial votes in the North-Central and greatly improve his showing in the South-East.” The survey summed up the distribution of the votes across the zones thus: “North-Central, PDP, 1.73million, APC, 1.86million. North-East, PDP, 1.3million, APC, 2.55million. North- West, PDP 2.15million, APC, 5.65million. South-East, PDP 1.65million, APC, 650,000. South-South, PDP, 2,.2million APC, 1.7million. South- West, PDP, 2million, APC, 2.9million. FCT, PDP, 150,000, APC, 200,000. In summary, the survey revealed that, “the APC candidate will carry all the states in North-West and North- East and will win marginally in North- Central,” saying, “the margin of victory for Gen. Buhari is a staggering 4.4million votes and it is impossible for President Jonathan to close such a margin.” What would boost Buhari’s victory in the North-East and North-West, the poll explained, would largely be due to expected increase in the voters’ turnout, “whilst the turnout in the South-East and South-South is likely to decrease. The simple explanation, according to the group, “is that the North-East, North-West and South-West zones feel that their sons, Buhari and Osinbanjo, are on the APC ticket and considering the number of votes accruing to the three zones, Jonathan will find it absolutely impossible to fill the gap.” While concluding, the group said that, “because of the postponement that occurred five weeks ago, a repeat this time will not go down well with Nigerians who very likely will accuse the administration of having its hand in disrupting the process, and because of the tight timelines to avoid a possible constitutional crisis a shift in the elections this time may become impossible to contemplate.” Source: http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=109818 |
