Romance6 Places You Should Never Toast A Nigerian Girl by Revolva(op): 7:32am On Mar 25, 2017
Some Nigerian guys tend to toast (woo) any girl they are interested in without even considering the time and place. Not minding the location and with so much confidence, they approach you and begin to run their mouths, spitting lines they have specially practiced for wooing girls. Oftentimes, the thinking of certain guys is that they want to take the opportunity to toast the girl as they may not meet her again. That’s true. However, you should be conscious of the places you intend to hit on a woman. I identify 6 places you should never toast a girl.

Hospital

Even if she is Miss Nigeria, you should not toast a girl at the hospital. You don’t know her purpose at the hospital. You appear from nowhere to woo her. You are just disturbing her and wasting your time as she will not answer you.

At work

You hear what it is called work. She is very busy at work and you still want to collect her number or you want to ask her out? She will just ignore you and at the end of the whole episode, you will be embarrassed. Well, some girls will have pity on you and walk you out.

Church/Mosque

The Church is a place to listen to the word of God and receive anointing. The same for the mosque. These places are not hubs for chasing women. But it is today. That doesn’t it make right.

In danfo buses/BRT Stations

Imagine in serious traffic (even when there is no traffic) inside one of those Lagos’s rickety danfos and these guy sitting beside is trying to get your attention. The girl will even be angry that under such harrowing and uncomfortable situation you are toasting her. What she just want is to get home. You are a distraction. For BRT stations, you see a girl standing in a long queue, you want to woo her. That is a wrong time.

Cinema

We all go to the cinema for different reasons. Some go there to search for potential lovers. But the cinema is a place where you to enjoy the movie you paid for and leave. So, enjoy your movie and when it is over you can go talk to whomever you are interested in. Don’t do this immediately after the movie, though.

Her father’s house

When a Nigerian father sees their daughter with, they think about all sorts of things like she has joined bad gang. Most of which are negative. Hence, quite a number of girls don’t like guys wooing them in front of their father’s house especially if they are meeting you for the first time.

Health5 Easy Ways To Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy by Revolva(op): 9:52am On Mar 23, 2017
When a woman is pregnant, a lot of changes happen to her body. One of such changes is the appearance of stretch marks. For some women, it is only when they are pregnant these marks appear while for others they don’t have to be pregnant. Although stretch marks are very easy to get, they are not difficult to get rid of. The only thing women fear is the stigma, especially from men. Some men say that they dislike stretch marks. Whatever the case may be, we, shares 5 ways to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy.

Keep your body hydrated

Your body needs to be hydrated for maximum skin elasticity. Skin elasticity is the skin’s ability to stretch and then go back to normal. So, drinking between 8 and 12 cups of water daily can help skin elasticity and thus prevent these stretch marks. Generally, it is not good for pregnant women to be dehydrated.

Use moisturizers and creams

Creams and moisturizers can be used to keep the skin moist and damp. It is advisable to use creams that contain Vitamin E or Vitamin A. This types of cream cannot cause any damage to the skin and can also prevent these marks. You should use it preferably after having your bath. Important, avoid using harsh chemicals on your skin.

Don’t eat for two

Yes, you are carrying an extra life in your belly and the temptation or craving will be there to eat for two. You don’t need to eat for two no matter how hungry you are. You should eat enough that will satisfy you. The only thing you need to do is to eat a balanced diet. Eating for two or eating too much during pregnancy can cause stretch marks.

Exercise during pregnant

Not all pregnant women will be disposed to exercise during pregnant. But it is good you try to do it as exercising help retains skin elasticity by improving the circulation. There is no gainsaying that the exercises you perform should not be intense.

Gain weight gradually

This is perhaps the quickest way to get stretch marks. The faster you gain weight, the more you are vulnerable to stretch marks. You should follow your doctor’s recommendation for slowly gaining weight. Usually, women add weight when pregnant.

Nairaland General6 Tips To Help Women Spend Less On Cosmetics by Revolva(op): 12:00pm On Mar 22, 2017
The amount some women spend on cosmetics is quite staggering! You don't even want to know the amount. In fact, women, themselves, will be astonished by how much they spend on cosmetics. Notwithstanding, you dare not tell some women not to use cosmetics or makeup. Some women will say: you don’t want me to look good! I want my skin to look like that of Toke Makinwa! For this one, the boyfriend is in trouble. Still, you need to check your spending on cosmetics. i share ways women can save money on cosmetics.

Use less expensive brands

We all love expensive things. The expensive bags, shoes, phones and even cosmetics as far as you can afford it. Even if you can afford it, it doesn’t mean you should spend all your money on it. To cut down cost, go for affordable brands or substitute. Inexpensive doesn’t mean fake. It perfectly works like the expensive ones.

Buy in Bulk

You will spend less if you buy in bulk. Because if you calculate the amount you spend on buying one every time, it is more than when you buy in bulk. So, try to always buy in bulk.

Collect Samples

There are events you attend in one of the hotels in Lagos where you may be given free samples of products. Do not hesitate to collect these cosmetics samples. Although this is a marketing strategy, the fact remains that you are not paying for it. These free samples will increase your cosmetics stockpiles.

Use Less

To cut cosmetics cost, you can decide to use your creams and lotions only when you are going out. There is no need to use it when you are home.

Shop in Unconventional Locations

If you want to reduce spending on cosmetics, you should buy from unconventional stores. Try as much as possible to avoid the high street stores. The cost of the item will be very affordable at the market or departmental store when compared with the other chain stores.

Don’t share your cosmetics

If you don’t want to buy cosmetics weekly, don’t share it with family and friends. They will be unhappy with you but it is for your own good. However, you can allow them to use it if they are willing to contribute.
Nairaland General7 Ways To Make Your Online Accounts Safer by Revolva(op): 2:02pm On Mar 17, 2017
A day scarcely goes by without a reported case of hacking. Millions of accounts are exposed and all sorts of information released to the public. Recently, over 500 million Yahoo user accounts were hacked. So, any account can be illegally accessed. You never know because hacking is becoming more sophisticated daily. This makes your online existence vulnerable. You must secure and protect your different web accounts. We gathers ways you can make them safer.

Close dormant accounts

Inactive accounts easily get hacked. It is because they remain unused for a very long time. If you know you are not using a particular account, you should close it. As a rule of thumb, only open accounts you can use often.

Set up a password manager

If you find it difficult to recall your password (s), you should use a password manager. It will save all your login details for you. It can also generate unique passwords for you.

Add two-step verification

The two-step verification has been around for a while now. And it is just a way to make it difficult for your account to be hacked. The two-step verification prevents anyone from logging into your account from a new device even though they have your username and password. They need a code delivered via SMS to your phone.
Delete third-party account connections

There’s nothing wrong with allowing other services to connect to your Facebook and Twitter. But you should reduce these connections to your main account. And don’t forget to close third party apps you’re not using in order to block off any potential loopholes for hackers to exploit.

Change your passwords often

We all know that we must not use weak passwords and change your passwords often.

Be conscious of what you share online

Ensure your personal details that can be used to verify your identity, like your home address, and your birthday is not readily available online. Hackers may need this sensitive information to access your accounts.

Keep your software updated

You should keep your computer software as well as your online accounts updated. But most times these accounts automatically updates itself. You can still check to update others manually.
Science/Technology4 Tips For Getting Better Audio On Your Smartphone by Revolva(op): 1:55pm On Mar 17, 2017
Whatever the make of your smartphone, the audio or sound setting is usually moderate. That is, it is not too high nor is it too low. However, when the sound emanating from your smartphone is lower than normal, there must be something wrong.we discuss ways to improve the audio quality of your smartphone.

Check your music app settings

For every phone, there is an app that plays music. You should check the app’s settings and make necessary adjustments. Have it in mind that the audio won’t go beyond that of the manufacturer’s setting

Buy a dedicated accessory

This is another way to boost the sound of your smartphone. You can buy a dedicated accessory like a headphone. With this, you don’t have to always rely on the sound of your phone. The caution here is that you should not tune it too high. This can be dangerous.

Nairaland GeneralHow To Cope With The Closure Of Abuja Airport by Revolva(op): 7:05pm On Mar 10, 2017
The Federal Government of Nigeria has finally closed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for much maintenance and repairs. Hopefully, it will be reopened on April 19th. Although quite a number of Nigerians and foreigners have expressed reservations about the closure, the safety of passengers should be the ultimate concern. Hence, the Federal Government has no choice than to shut down the airport. Expectedly, the FG has made arrangements to ferry passengers to Abuja. So, if you have anything to do in Abuja, i share ways to deal with the closure of Abuja airport.

Let your mind be at rest

The main concern of travelers and tourists about Kaduna is security due to recent events in the city. However, the Federal Government has assured passengers that they don’t need to worry about their security. The distance from Kaduna Airport to Abuja Airport by road according to Google map is 242.6 km (3h9m). Different security apparatus will be on the way all through your trip. So, let your mind be at rest and believe that nothing will happen. Kaduna has always been a safe and secure city.

Reduce your luggage

If you are traveling to Abuja for now, you should reduce the amount of luggage you carry. The stress of getting your luggage at Kaduna airport, then loading them into the bus coupled with the 3-hour travel can be unbearable. To cope with this, you should only carry essential items. Doing this will stop you from paying anyone to carry your luggage.

Make your own transport arrangement

You can also make your travel arrangement from Kaduna to Abuja. It is not compulsory to go with the buses provided by the government. So, if you have a friend who is familiar with the Kaduna to Abuja route, put a call through to him to pick you up at the Kaduna airport.

Travel by road

Some travelers may not be too disposed to fly to Kaduna en route Abuja. Then, your best option is to travel straight to Abuja via road. It is even cheaper to travel via road than flying. But, safety is always a major worry.

Avoid evening travel

You won’t like to be on the Kaduna road in the evening or wee hours of the night traveling to Abuja. Even if you get to Kaduna airport in the evening, delay your travel until the next day and spend that evening in a hotel.

Book a hotel close to Abuja Airport

You should book a hotel close to the airport to reduce the stress of arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport and then you start another journey to your hotel.
Computers6 Things You Do That Puts Your Computer At Risk by Revolva(op): 6:53pm On Mar 10, 2017
You rely heavily on your computer to get your jobs done. If anything happens to it, you may lose all your important files and other essential documents. This is why you should be careful what you do both in terms of hardware and software with your computer. This will prevent you from putting your computer at risk. Nevertheless, some persons don’t know the things they are doing that may be putting their computers at risk.i identify some of them.

You don’t backup your files

This is arguably one of the crudest things you do that is putting your computer at risk. But still, some persons don’t consider it important to backup their files. If you don’t want to lose the work of a lifetime, you should never forget to save your files in a hard drive or any cloud services of your choice. You can access these files anytime and anywhere.

No antivirus

How can you use a system without an antivirus? In this age and time? Even if you don’t have money to buy antivirus, you can download free antivirus or you simply use windows defender. The rule of thumb is that you should never use any system without an antivirus.

You are using weak password

The function of a password is to prevent unauthorized access to your system. Therefore, you should avoid using a weak password. Worse still, some people don’t even bother to use any password. You may not only lose your files, you will also lose money depending on the type of job you do.

You are not cleaning your computer

Your computer is looking very haggard and dusty because you are too lazy to clean it. Soon, the dust will affect the fan. And you know if the fan doesn’t work, your system will begin to heat up and if you still ignore it, you may need to prep it for repairs or get ready to buy another one.

You still using Windows XP

Using Windows XP is like you are still in the Stone Age. The world has gone beyond and probably forgotten the Windows XP. This is because there have been several upgrades including Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Windows XP will leave your computer vulnerable because it lacks security features that will protect your system.

You just download anything online

You don’t have antivirus and you are still downloading anything that catches your fancy online. Before long, your system will be infected with a virus and if you are not careful, it will eventually crash.
Nairaland GeneralThe Odd Things That Happen Whenever It Rains In Lagos by Revolva(op): 5:22pm On Mar 07, 2017
When it rains in Lagos, the city appears to run or function differently. This is why some Lagosians may be unhappy whenever it rains. But, they don’t have control over this. As the center of excellence, the people and government should take immediate action to cushion the effect or impact of the rain. In line with this, We discusses the things that happen in Lagos when it rains.

The traffic doubles

Traffic has always been one of the highlights of any megacity. It should not surprise anyone that traffic is a problem in Lagos. A lot of man hours are wasted in traffic. Although, the government is making effort to ensure the free flow of traffic; it has so much work to do. You can only imagine the nature of the traffic when it rains. The traffic can be very bad. What many workers and employees do to cushion the effect on them is to leave work as early as possible.

The roads are flooded

The traffic doubles because the roads are flooded. This happens as a result of a poor drainage system. So, there is nowhere the rainwater will flow to than to stay on the road. The government has been opening up the drainages around the city but some Lagosians will still dump refuse inside to block it. Well, if you cannot drive home, you can book a hotel to spend your night.

No electricity

This may not be peculiar to Lagos alone. When it rains, it is an opportunity for the Power Holding Company of Nigeria to hold on to power. Funny but true. However, in some cases, PHCN may not interrupt power no matter how heavy it rains. They are very unpredictable.

The heat disappears

This is the most obvious reason Lagosians want it to rain. Even if you use a generator, you will still switch it off at some point. The heat that follows every time power supply is seized can sometimes be unbearable. With the rain, the heat disappears and everywhere is cool and warm.

Danfo drivers become rational

Not only danfo drivers but every driver who uses the road at that moment drives carefully. You don’t need a soothsayer to tell you what will happen if you drive recklessly when it rains.
Phones5 Ways To Save Your Phone When It Falls In Water by Revolva(op): 5:05pm On Mar 07, 2017
Your smartphone dropping in water doesn’t mean the end of it. Although smartphones are not waterproofed, you can still rescue it. The most important thing is that you should apply these tips shared by us, the leading online booking agency to save your phone. It is no gainsaying that water and phones are enemies. Mr. Water is always happy to destroy your phone.

Don’t press anything after taking it out of water

The first thing you should do is to remove your smartphone from the water. You know right? Importantly, don’t do anything like turning it on, press any keys, nor blow it. You should not do any of this if you are serious about saving your phone.

Open the back and remove the battery

The next thing you should do immediately you remove your phone from water is to carefully remove the battery.

Take out other removable parts

For those whose batteries are not detachable from their phones, they should simply remove their SIM cards and memory cards. You should also do same even if you can detach your battery.

Dry your phone

There are different ways to dry your phone. The first one that comes to mind is the sun. But there are other ways. You can use a vacuum, or use uncooked rice. Using uncooked rice is the fastest option to dry your phone. The rice will soak the moisture and dry your phone. Your phone should power on. If it doesn’t power on, you should charge it. If it still doesn’t power on, you can leave it for a day or two. This will help the phone to fully recover and power on.

You should take it to your engineer if…

After a day or two, and it doesn’t still work, you should take it to your engineer for diagnoses. He should do his magic but it may cost you some money. But don’t just give your phone to anyone. You should have a friend who is experienced in phone repairs.

Technology Market5 Reasons Your Wi-fi Network May Not Improve by Revolva(op): 4:39pm On Mar 03, 2017
Many offices and individuals rely on Wi-Fi to get jobs done or to surf the internet. A slow or snail-like Wi-Fi will no doubt delay your work and it can be very frustrating. This said, your Wi-Fi may not improve soon due to the following reasons discussed by me

There are devices interfering with your Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is very sensitive to its environment. If you have devices that could interfere with your network, you should either remove them or switch them off. For example, Bluetooth devices and microwave can affect the strength of your signal.

Poor location of router

The location of your Wi-Fi router also has a role to play in slowing your Wi-Fi network. Your router should not be far away from whatever device you are using to surf the internet. The closer the devices the better the reception. This may not be the case. Here, you may have to upgrade your router.

You connect to the wrong Wi-Fi

There are so many wireless networks on your phone or laptop that you don't know the one to connect to. This may be because they have the same names. So, you just decided to connect your device with any available one. Unknown to you, the one you connected to was very slow. If you don't want to be in this situation, you should find out from colleagues the fastest wireless network.

You overload Router

If so many people are connected to your router, it can affect the speed of your network. This is because the router can not distribute the signal equally to the different users.

You installed incompatible software

This usually happens when you update or upgrade your Wi-Fi router but you forget to do same for your computer. So, whenever you update your router, you should also uninstall the one in your device. This is to ensure that the software is compatible and up-to-date.

Culture5 Reasons Nigerian Children Are Not Speaking Their Mother Tongue by Revolva(op): 11:33pm On Mar 01, 2017
In the past children spoke Nigeria’s indigenous languages namely Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa fluently and unashamedly. However, today, the complete opposite is the case. Kids can barely communication in Efik or Idoma without adding a bit of English. The consequences of this are that many of these languages are facing extinction while some of them have gone extinct. A research that is cited by those concerned to lend credence to the import of indigenous languages is that of former Minister of education, Prof. Babs Fafunwa. The late Prof made a case for the mother tongue as the medium of education for the first 12 years of the child’s life. Through an organized mother-tongue education program, they discovered children taught in the Yoruba language performed better. Regardless, it has not changed the fortunes of these languages because kids have refused to communicate. In line with this, we shares reasons children are not speaking their mother tongue.

Parents don’t speak the languages to them

Parents don’t speak their mother tongue to their children anymore. In fact, some of these parents when they go for attending events one of the best hotels in Lagos, they order their children not to speak the language. How can such a child learn the language? Parents should speak more to their kids in their mother tongue.

It is tagged vernacular

In some schools today, Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo among other languages are banned because they are considered vernacular. A child who speaks his or her mother tongue would be penalized. So from the formative years of these children, they already have the perception that speaking their mother tongue is bad.

They are uncivilized

Many people believe that you are uncivilized or local if you speak your mother tongue. So, in other to join the bandwagon and be accepted, they dish Ibibio for English. This is all in the name of being civilized. Children have also been caught in this web

It is not compulsory in primary and secondary schools

While English is compulsory in secondary schools today, the indigenous languages are not even though a child must study one of these languages. Children will think the languages are a joke. Hence, they won’t bother to learn or speak it.

Technology

The engagement or interaction of children with technology is entirely in English. Their smartphone, video games, laptop and other tech gadgets are in English. So since many of them spend so much time with these gadgets, they don’t have anything to do with the languages. This is a challenge to Nigerian developers to design tech gadgets in the indigenous languages.

3. Massive lies

Well Lying about cheating or something extreme is obviously terrible, but pointless, uncalled for lies are pretty concerning as well. A lot of people tell white lies because they don’t think the truth is worth knowing and would lead to unnecessary concern or conversations, but that’s not for you to decide when involved in a serious, grown relationship.

4. Secretly going through our phones, email and other password-protected stuff. If you actually catch yourself trying to ninja hack your love interest’s phone while in your mid-20s, it’s time to part ways or grow up.

Family6 Signs Your Child Is A Tech Addict by Revolva(op): 7:47am On Feb 25, 2017
With technology in our faces, it is unsurprising that many of us are addicted to our gadgets. You may be very unaware of this devotion to your device. Irrespective, adults can easily streamline the relationship with their gadgets. However, for children, this is absolutely not the case. Children are straightforwardly fascinated and carried away by anything. Technology is even worse because it has simplified access to the world. How? You can Google whatever you want on your smartphones at the click of a button. So, parents should be very concerned and worried because when children addicted to anything at a very young age, it may be difficult to abdicate it as they grow. This is why it is important to look out for some signs to ensure that your child doesn’t fall into the abyss of technology and stay there. You can nip it in the bud with these signs shared by us

Has replaced his book with Facebook

There nothing wrong with early exposure of a child to technology. But the mistake here is that some parents introduce it at a lump sum instead of gradually. If this is the case, and you observe your child always on Facebook instead of reading his books, it obvious signs. You should be concerned with his performance at school declines. It may be time to get rid of the phone.

Social withdrawal

When your child is meant to be playing with his friends, he’s either alone playing a computer game or on his phone surfing the internet. He is oftentimes doing something with technology on his own instead of building physical relationships. This is a sign that he is becoming a tech addict. When you notice this, try to encourage your child to take breaks and play with friends.

Complains of boredom

The question is can a child be bored? If they are not playing with their friends, they will play on their own! That are children for you. This doesn’t take away the fact that they can be bored. But if your child tells you that she is bored especially when she is not with a phone or playing a video game, it may be a sign. You should teach them how to engage with technology.

Spends too much time with tech

Your child doesn’t do any other thing than to spend time looking or playing with their preferred device, it is time you do something. For children, technology should only be for leisure not to be so attached or addicted to it.

They refuse to answer after several calls

A child that is addicted to tech will be so carried away that he will be unable to answer his name. In addition, he throws tantrums because you disrupt whatever he is doing. This is not good. It is better you get rid of that gadget before it gets out of hand.

Procrastination

Procrastination is postponing whatever you do for later. Notwithstanding, children shouldn’t be procrastinating. But with technology all over the place, procrastination is very rife among children.
Music/RadioBigstreet – Oyege by Revolva(op): 3:28pm On Feb 24, 2017
After many years collaborating in the shadows and performing live,Righteous Nwabueze Odili AKA BigStreet finally releases his debut single under BTB records.

With the flow of 2Baba, the vocal range of Banky W and the tone of Flavour n’abania, Bigstreet entertains with the body swaying mellow "Oyege". A love song about a captivating and charismatic beauty the singer is infatuated with.

The single starts off as RnB, slowly progressing into a medium tempo but mainstream pop sound before seamlessly flowing into a distinct highlife sound before ending in a crescendo signed by the eponymous producer.

The song climaxes as it breaks down into the bridge where the singer displays his Eastern Nigerian roots and professes his love in Igbo. His voice though sweet and airy, possesses a slight husk; a tell-tale sign of the street hustle he endured for many years in order to debut his music to the world.

The intermittent chiming bells and light horns towards the end of the track, paint a picture of anticipated victory and celebration with loved ones; a wedding song for the club perhaps? Whichever way you choose to swing it, "Oyege", is a feel good music at its best. The radio friendly, repetitive chorus and groovy beat engraves the song in the minds of listeners.

"Oyege" was produced by hit maker Don L37 and released under BTB Records
