Business5 Reasons Nigerians Love Black Friday by Revolva(op): 7:52am On Nov 09, 2016
black friday In the past, Black Friday wasn’t a big deal. It quietly came and walked away without any buzz. The Black Friday adrenalin was, however, pumped up to a palpable frenzy with the entry of online shopping. Now, almost every Nigerian looks forward to the last week of November to do their shopping. In fact, some Nigerians have been saving since the beginning of the year just to shop on the biggest shopping week of the year. Statistics show that 2.3 million people visited Jumia on Black Friday the previous year and 76% of all transactions were made on mobile. Interesting right? Hence, there is no doubt Nigerians love Black Friday. But Why? We share 5 reasons.

You will get crazy discount

The import of Black Friday is to get mouthwatering discount and exclusive deals that you cannot get on any other week or day of the year. You can get as much as 50% on hotel bookings and other household items on Black Friday. Add this to the fact that Nigerians love cheap and amazing offers.

Opportunity to do all your Xmas shopping

Black Friday is an opportunity for you to do your Christmas shopping. This is also important because, in Nigeria, prices usually skyrocket in December. So, it is smart to do all your shopping on Black Friday rather than waiting till December.

Save significantly

Nigeria is in recession. So, if you don’t have enough money to buy what you want, Black Friday is the week to wait for. With the exclusive deals, you can buy whatever you want with what you have in your pocket. You will also save.

You get what you want

What do you want to buy or book Hotels? Electronics? Household items? Groceries? Fashion items? There is a 95% chance you will get them on Black Friday at fantastic prices because businesses do their utmost best to ensure that they have anything and everything their customers want.

They don’t need to visit a physical store

Most of the Black Friday shopping transactions Nigerians do is online. They don’t need to visit any physical store. In other words, it is convenient coupled with the delivery at your doorstep. For other days, Nigerians may probably prefer to visit their favourite online store.

Thanks for this honest post of yours.

The amount of misinformation on nairaland can be quite alarming.

Ok, according to Igbo traditional history. One of the sons of Eri, Onoja, moved northwards to found Igala people. This is still reflective in an Igbo saying that if all the Igbos are finished off today, some Igbo still remain in Igala, most especially in reference to Igalas in the south with Igbo ancestry/influence. Now from my better understanding Onoja may not have been the founder of all Igalas but instead some part of the Igalas, especially southern Igala. Some towns in Igala south point their origins to Igboland.

The Igbo origin of some Igala towns is often left out in Igala historical accounts, partially due to attempts since the civil war by many tribes to disassociate from ethnic relationship with the Igbo. However, it does not telll the true story. Southern Igalas and some Northern Igbo towns share a lot of back-and-forth migrational relationships. That's the truth.

What do you know about Akpanya town?
thank you very much...ok

wellsaid......not all these ignoramus here

Not all Igalas migrated from Ida. There are 2 sources of origin that make up the Igala stock: the atta origin and the eri origin from Anambra state. For example, the igalamela/odolu people. Majority are not descendants of Abule Ejeh.
explain to me.....ibaji...migrated from where and ....i understand....not all igalas but all i know...i am full blodded igala despite the fact tat my fore father settled in the river niger banks...

from time.....maybe other igalas land..mixed with igbos...or other neighboring tribes..but the fact is they are still igalas

and pls....Ette....arguement shuld stop.....all i know igala and idomas are spoken there.....igbos are majority there....i must confess.......ok....but i am also sure igalas and idomas there have their chiefs....

look igbos and igalas and idomas are blood .....but majority of igbos are bigot....if not igalas...will not have any problem to always call igbos brothers

This article was only broadcasting the stance of the Igala aspect of Ette. Which is that they want to be in Kogi.
And that is exactly what we had been saying here.
it's not like we expected Igala elements there to say otherwise.
The article was not an investigative one. As only the Igala people were interviewed and their words published without the writers contribution or those of the opposing camps.
Igalas originated from Ida in present day kogi state....

and an be found majorliy in kogi state and extentions in borders of anambra state, Nzam community ...ugbedo.... edo state...illushi ifeku island... delta state ebu oshimili north LGA and if possible ette. Enugu ..thanks for educating me about ette....i never knew there are igalas there....ok

There are Igbos in Kogi, Edo and Benue.

They are not Igalas, Edos or Idomas. They were simply influenced by these groups, and they still retained their Igbo nature.

There are no Igalas in Anambra or Enugu. Those you call Igalas there are fast assimilating into Igbo language of their accommodating Igbo aboriginals.

Thank you.
oooh lord go wikipeadia and searh for igala...and you will see there are igalas in edo anambra and delta..but am not sure enugu........whats wrong with this fool

look i claim kogi state as state of origin because my grandfather an be traced to idah..kogi state but at a certain time we settled on d bank of river niger and later we discovered that it was shifted to edo state.....

that is the place they call Illushi ...or ojigono...ask anybody..its the last part of edo state...bordder the river niger...its a market place where people from deltans igbos edos even tiv n idomas n even hausas converge and market food stuff...but the majority of the settlers are igalas...on dat same road....you an travel through Inyele..a small town heading to edu (which is another igala speaking town in oshimili LGA delta state)...see these town are all one in the old days....until border adjustment scattered everybody

all i know we all speak the same dialet of Igala

ianSweet:
Dont make it look like Ette is the only Igala speaking town in Kogi. Adani, Ojjor, Asaba, Igga and Ogurugu are also igala speaking towns in Enugu state and even their king has confirmed it.

And if u claim the Igala speakers are minority in the Ette town, how come the traditional titles and traditional rulers of the town are all Igalas and in Igala language? Explaim this for us.
as for ette i dont know much bout there cos i am not an idoma...ok...i know its possible...idomas are in that areas ok...but for igala....i believe they are also there

You are not serious.

But hey! It's a free world, your are free to believe whatever you want.

If there are no Igbos in Kogi, them there are no Igalas in Enugu and Anambra. The Igala speaking people there are Igbos who got influenced by Igalas. cool
Lemme tell you....there are no igbos as indigene i beg oooo we r all igalas..but influenced at one point with igbos....so we adopted the igbos bearing of names while at birth....ok.....and we do intermarry igbos....

but originally we are not igbos....ok..that is where i am from.....i am full bloded igala...i dont care but people think am an igbo..when ever i mingle...ok...but i know somewhere i may have some igbo in me..but am igala

guy there are igalas in anambra. and also igalas in ebu osimili lga in delta state....also in esan south east ifeku island edo state ...speak igala..they have their origin from ibaji...which is not far from them... ...and idomas in enugu
this is due to maladjustment of boundaries...ooo and they have been settlers there for many hundred of years...ok..they are igalas...ok...but you saying igbos as indigene in igala land its a big lie

I Took time to read this page..

as am studying everyone here.......
@iansweet you are right

first of all....There is no igbo indigene in Kogi state ....whether the souther part of igala speaking area...ok..that is where i am from...the only problem is we from those area have been influenced a lot by our igbo brother.. and we share the same cultural from the way we behave..infact the southern igalas behave mostly like igbos...that does not make dem igbos ok

as for me no igbos in kogi state or in igala land as indigene....ok... they are igalas but majority of them speak igbo because it is the language they use for trading in onitsha where most igalans and idomas in benue axis...do use and they get influenced by it...

but i know there are igalas in some communities in northern anambra... and some idomas in enugu state....that does not make them igbos...

but all the way...we igalas and idomas share some historical facts with northern igbos....ok
