The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Nigerian government have reached an agreement towards ending the four-month-old industrial action of university teachers.

The consensus was reached after a meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

Present at the meeting were representatives of ASUU, Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, and other government officials.

Students had also besieged the Abuja venue of the meeting and threatened to embark on a protest if the issues were not resolved.

At the end of the meeting on Thursday, an agreement was reached and a deal was signed.

Pope Francis and the grand imam of Egypt's Al-Alzhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb on Monday met in Abu Dhabi, embraced each other and called for peace. The two religious leaders signed a statement with their hopes for world peace and human understanding.

During an appearance on Wisconsin Public Radio last year, Sandra said she picked the topic of violence for her essay because of the constant news on shootings.
"All you hear about is somebody dying or somebody getting shot and people do not just think about whose father or son or granddaughter or grandson who it was that was just killed," she said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday released names of governorship candidates in Enugu State.



People On the list were the top contender, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ayogu Eze of All Progressives Congress (APC).

It also contained 37 others party candidates.


The INEC list was Showed at the INEC Headquarters in Enugu state on Friday in line with the guidelines for the 2019 general elections.

Other contender whose names appeared on the list include Ekene Uzodimma of United Progressives Party (UPP), Peter Aniagbaso of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Cajethan Eze of Action Democratic Party (ADC) and Emmanuel Nwankpa of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

INEC also Displayed the names of candidates for the State House of Assembly elections alongside the governorship candidates.


According to the INEC timetable for the polls, political parties were expected to commence their campaigns on November 18.

Dr Emeka Ononamadu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Enugu State while briefing journalists earlier in the week, said the commission has so far not been found wanting in keeping to the guidelines and timetable for the polls.

Ononamadu assured that with the support of the people, INEC would deliver free, fair and credible elections next year in Enugu State.
