Try and make sure you wash and sanitise your hands after every nappy change, adhere to a strict hygiene regimen because such stubborn bacteria could easily be transferred back to him from contaminated items.
Boil all feeding utensils and soak his clothes in disinfectant(plenty work I know ) but it will help to avoid him getting reinfected and make the treatment look like it's not working.

Has he taken his full rota dosage?

OK ma, I was even asked to stop using feeding bottles. But he refused spoon feeding, and won't swallow the food in his mouth not until I change to bottle. I hide his feeding bottles after each feed. (he doesn't reject spoon feeding before)

Akowonjo can be access through Dopemu or Egbeda depending on where you are coming from. You can use google map.

Over 72 hours, I can't see visible improvement except (baby not looking dehydrated) He still poos, I think he poos only water, after pooing new born yellow-greenish poo. Whether he urinate gon, I can't tell. .
Before he poos, he feels so much discomfort for close to 1 hr, I will massage his tummy taya, before he finally poos

A friend suggest I ask them to refer me to Massey street children hospital island. (Government Hospital with their wahala, go and buy syringe , go and buy hand glove, go and photocopy )

I met another doctor not quite long and explain my fears, he said it will stop th@t some germs in diarrhea are very stubborn, that they had a case like dat thar the woman just woke up one day to find out the poo had stopped.

Their paediatrician comes every Wednesday, but I don't think I can wait till Wednesday here o. I'm tired of sleeping on hospital bed.

I'm still giving him ors. Hopefully, he is going to be better by Dawn. Amen

Cerelac too has milk how about just plain pap for now? Isomil is a soy based formula though it's not that pleasant tasting if you get me you could try it for this period. That cerelac has plenty milk which could be aggravating the stools

OK, for the pap, nobody to make and bring for me at the hospital. When my baby is awake, I will go get the isomil. Thanks ma

We are still at the hospital. He still poos watery poo but not as before. He is been treated for infection (sepsis).

I don't know if its just me or something. Whenever I greet someone mostly in my place of work or something and the response is "how are you" in a deep gentle bossy tone, I really find it offensive. In the western world, its not considered as rude and many people flow with it but in a place like Nigeria here, I think its used to show superioty. The manner at which it is said also plays a major role. If its something like "how are you sir/ma" or "how are you" (with a wide grin and smile ), then no qualms. But where it can get really irritating is where you greet someone "good morning sir/ma" and the response you get is a "how are you" ( with a bossy and deep tone, no smiles at all).

It depends on the tone of asking.

I hate it most when i greet someone younger and she replies "my dear how are you" I won't bother to answer. Girls most especially use it to look down on people.

Some will even answer morning o.

In future, for his teething, get original bongela teething gel and apply it on his gums. You can also apply it on his teething ring and get him to suck/chew on it.

That said, teething is not responsible for loss of appetite, loss in weight or runny poo. There's an underlying issue and it's the job of the Doctor to find out. Even something has basic as tonsillitis can lead to reduced appetite in a baby.

I hope you've taken him to another hospital. A doctor claiming not to find a vein on a child is unserious. All he needs is an infrared light and it picks all the vein on any part of the body where the light is shone.

Yes, we are in another hospital now. @babythug, the nurses said dehydration can cause vein to collapse.. Thank God they were able to get one on his hands.

@Onegai, those places are actually not too far but the traffic jam is something else.

I stay at Igando. Already at my hospital at Akowonjo. He is on admission. I think he has diarrhea. He is on drip now

My baby was pooing loose poo, and was getting weaker by the seconds. Gave him salt-sugar solution he didn't collect much. We had to run to a close by hospital by 1 am. The doctor couldn't find his vein after so many trials. And didn't come till I sent for him by 6 am. We just had to leave when they were looking unserious.

Since this teething ish, he has stopped breastfeeding. I always try giving him but he will push me or bite me.

I haven't been online cos my baby is still sick. We rush him to the hospital on Monday cos his temperature rose to 39°c and his breathing was abnormal.
He hasn't eaten any reasonable thing since yesterday. In fact, he has not eaten today( he vomited the one he managed to take) ,he has been taking only water. I have been to General Hospital, buy this, buy that. We did fbc test, wasn't even sure the doctor looked at the result,

I tried giving him his drugs, he vomited them out, I tried it 3 times, he still vomited, so I stopped.

I can't eat cos I'm not happy. I'm so tired of the situation. He has lost so much weight.

My lo3 socked her hand too and I tried all the available method but it was all wash.... At a point, I did the unthinkable by using razor to make a little slash on that her finger(don't try it if you don't have the mind). She stopped it that very moment cause it pained her any time she puts her fingers on the mouth. That was how she stopped entirely.
As for the oil and honey method, use a teaspoon to give him, it would clear gradually

, that sucking is so annoying. I almost put my baby's finger on hot pot some days ago but was considering his health because he is teething and has not been eating fine. Before he gets to 10 months, I must stop him by fire by thunder

Relax mama. What I use for my bubbas teething problem(though mild as Rota helped) is to get those teething rings and place in the fridge to cool then give them to chew on! The coldness eases the pain for them whilst they scratch their gum on the rough surface. It worked for us.

Secondly your baby will reject any spoon feed as the spoon seem to be causing them pain as it touches the already swollen and inflamed gum, So please make do with bottle feeding for now!

You can make the cereal semi fluidly and offer in a bottle. If that still doesn't work abeg up the frequency of the formula feed till he goes back to the regular routine.

You can ask you doctor to recommend a pain reliever for him.

No NEPA here for the past 1 month. I use feeding bottle for him. for the cereal, I will try that out.

Good evening mamas, hope we are all doing fine?

My baby hasn't been eating well since on the 6th of this month. I found out he was teething, and the discomfort was too much. I sha gave him baby Rex and used teething powder. One tooth is out but still he isn't eating even sucking sef, na war.

I tried nutrend, pap, he refused. He takes cerelac any time he Wishes. He has succeeded in wasting 2 cans from last Thursday till today. He wants only formula which he doesn't take up to 100ml.

Can only formula sustain him?

He takes adult food before but not again.

Teething phase can be frustrating. I'm so scared.

It's normal for a baby to be cranky after immunisation. He will be fine, don't worry. Just keep giving him lots of cuddles and keep trying to breastfeed him.

Has he been tested for malaria? How do you know he has malaria? If he has been tested for malaria and malaria is confirmed, then it's the doctor's responsibility to prescribe the most appropriate malaria drug for your baby based on his age, weight and how serious the malaria is.

Please let's be careful with self medication in babies. Anything outside paracetamol/ibruofen and multivitamin should be prescribed by a doctor.

Never knew it was changed before

My baby hasn't been eating well (including sucking) since on Wednesday he took that pneumococcal vaccine. The same thing happened last month when he took the vaccine, he didn't eat for close to 6 days and that made he lost about 0.6kg. It's like the vaccine is too strong.

Can I give him malaria drugs, which?

rezzy-dear, have you found another source of income, have your millions landed because Cerelac is now N1100 per can and it may rise further. So if he's finishing it quite fast, you may need to run for LG chairman and embezzle some public funds. I'm in the same situation and when I see how Baby E sometimes decides halfway to waste food and pour it on the floor, I shed bitter tears inwardly. But I've decided to stop crying....

And announce my candidancy for Local Government Chairperson!!!! Please come and support me with your votes, illegal and otherwise!

Hahaha. . Na switching sure pass. If it increases more than that, I will look for a cheaper cereal. Last month I bought 4, only God knows how many I will buy this month.
