Politics / If Human Rights Law Wouldn't Defend Us, We Will Be Force To Defend Ourselves by RichieF27: 8:00pm On Dec 02, 2015

If human Rights law wouldn't defend us, We will be force to defend ourselves.
By Okonkwo Isaac Somto
(For Family Writers)

On 1st of December, Biafran Protesters were marching unarmed and pecacefully. But marching peacefully and unarmed didn't stop the Nigeria armed forces from killing 5 unarmed civilians and arresting over 100 of them. This has become a common thread amongst the Nigeria Government, ordering their armed forces to kill and shot unarmed civilians. Biafran protesters have not in form resulted to violence and even when they were shot at and killed they still remained peaceful and non-violent. But it’s now a question of how long their patience can hold out, how long can they hold their peace? They have stayed calm and quiet, while they watch the British-Nigeria forces assault and violent their rights. The situation has now taken a new turn, in the sense that Biafrans are now restless and angry by the extent the British-Nigeria government has gone in killing yet again another Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members

Why hasn’t the International human Right organization done anything about this? Why do they still stay quiet, when innocent civilians expressing their rights for self-determination are been killed and assaulted? Are Biafran lives any different? Or is the fact that Biafrans hasn’t reacted violently towards the Nigeria government? Is human right waiting until, The British-Nigeria government exterminates biafrans before they speak out? What are they waiting for? Is Nigeria Government above the UN and the human right law? Is there something am missing? All these questions, should be addressed before things get out of hand. Nigeria government is not below the human rights law, and should be called to order. Biafrans will no longer stay silent for too long, we will no longer stand and watch while our people are been killed and slaughter like animals. If the world can't stand for the truth and caution the Nigeria Government, then they should also remain silent when Biafrans start to respond to the Nigeria Government. This is not a threat but an act of self-defence, if the United Nations and the Human Right laws wouldn't do anything to stop the killing of Biafrans, then I think it’s time for them to defend ourselves. We will no longer stand these barbaric acts from the British-Nigeria Government. We are Biafrans and we would not retreat nor surrender, will we continue to stand for what we believe in and if it means we standing alone and defending ourselves from the British-Nigeria Government, we will do that to the last drop of our blood. It’s Biafra or Death Let this be a message to the United Nations, The International Human Right Organisation, The British-Nigeria Government.

Health / How Nigerian Doctor, Bennet Omalu, Changed American Football by RichieF27: 11:57pm On Nov 24, 2015
Nigerian-born Dr. Bennet Omalu, currently the Chief Medical Examiner, San Joaquin County, California, and President/Medical Director of Bennet Omalu Pathology, was the first to identify, describe and name a new disorder known as, as a disease entity in American football players and wrestlers.

A forensic pathologist, and certified physician executive in medical management, Omalu, 47, who hails from Anambra state, discovered in 2002 a condition described as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, CTE, a neurodegenerative disease in the brains of football players caused by repeated brain trauma over time and causes depression, dementia, and other behavioural changes.

Popularly known as the “Concussion Doctor”, Omalu made his landmark discovery following an autopsy he performed on former Pittsburgh Steelers star Mike Webster.

Webster, aged 50, had died of a heart attack after years of depression and dementia that led to him becoming homeless and forgetting how to do basic things, such as eating.

From the examination Omalu made of Webster and other football players, including Dave Duerson and Andre Waters, he determined that repeated head trauma from the sport causes a brain condition that leads to memory loss, impaired judgement, impulse control problems, aggression, depression, and eventually progressive dementia.

Although doctors knew that boxers suffered brain problems after years of continuous head trauma, it was Omalu who first associated the condition with football players.

When Omalu cut slices from Webster’s brain and looked at them under a microscope, he was surprised to see tangled proteins and other characteristic signs of CTE.

A year later, Omalu examined the brain of Terry Long — another Steelers legend, who’d killed himself at age 45 by drinking antifreeze — and saw the same picture.

“This stuff should not be in the brain of a 45-year-old man,” Omalu later said. “This looks more like a 90-year-old brain with advanced Alzheimer’s.”

Prompted by Omalu’s discovery, doctors at Boston University’s CTE Centre examined 79 deceased NFL players’ brains and found CTE in 76 of them. Many died by suicide or had dramatic changes in personality after retirement. Still, the overall rate of CTE in all players is unknown — it could be an epidemic or a relatively rare problem.

Omalu’s discovery of CTE raised numerous concerns about the safety of American football, a development that the National Football League, NFL, challenged vigorously. For years, though, the NFL tried its best to hide the evidence about football and brain trauma, and after Omalu published his findings, the NFL attempted to cover the facts and accused him of fraud and practicing voodoo.

He was barred from league meetings on football and the brain, along with other doctors who later worked on CTE.

Omalu’s Nigerian descent was questioned and he was accused of attacking the American way of life. But his discovery gained more attention and eventually, the NFL was compelled to introduce a concussion guideline in the game.

But the Nigerian’s finding — and the subsequent discovery of CTE in dozens of deceased football players — subsequently transformed the football world, raising concerns about the safety of American football.

A movie, entitled “Concussion” that is based on this discovery, is scheduled to premiere September 8, 2015, in which Hollywood star, Will Smith, plays Dr. Bennet Omalu. The trailer for the movie released this week, tells the true story of the Nigerian-born doctor’s discovery, and it is expected to make many Americans rethink the dangers of football and how the NFL functions.

In 2009, the league finally acknowledged the problem and instituted concussion management guidelines, which include neuropsychological testing on all NFL players to help determine when a player could return to play after a head injury.

It introduced new protocols to make sure concussed players are properly diagnosed, and donated money for concussion and CTE research.

Omalu obtained his medical degree from the University of Nigeria in 1991, Masters in Public Health, MPH, degree in Epidemiology from University of Pittsburgh in 2004, and Masters in Business Administration, MBA, from Carnegie Mellon University in 2008, and holds four board certifications in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Forensic Pathology and Neuropathology.

He has testified twice before the United States Congress and has provided hundreds of testimonies as an expert witness in federal courts and state courts across the United States. A member of many professional organizations, including but not limited to the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathology, American College of Physician Executives, American College of Epidemiologists, American Association of Neuropathologists, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, National Association of Medical Examiners, International Academy of Pathology and American Medical Association.Vanguard

Politics / Nigeriannewspapers: Biafra: I’m Worried, Says Sultan by RichieF27: 3:35am On Nov 24, 2015
From Noah Ebije, Kaduna
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar 111, yesterday expressed worry over the increasing agitation for Biafra by some Igbo groups. He said the northern traditional council would soon send a delegation to Igbo leaders in the South East on the issue.
The Sultan spoke yesterday at the second General Assembly of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council in Kaduna.
This was even as the Sultan condoled with the people of Kogi, Benue and the entire country over the death of former Governor Abubakar Audu, the demise of Tor-Tiv, Alfred Torkula and the loss of Nigerian pilgrims during this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The Sultan, who chairs the council, said millions of Igbo resident in all parts of the country were against the Biafra agitation, hence, the need to send delegates for a dialogue to allow peace to reign.‎
He said: “We are very much concerned about this issue because we know we have millions of millions of Igbos residing with us in our homes, in our towns, in our states, very peacefully, very industrious, helping our communities and our economy to grow and so many of them as we know, keep telling us that they have nowhere else to live than where they are presently living.
“Since we have this coordination with millions and millions of them, what is happening now is a thing of concern to us and we believe we should look at this issue and most likely set up a small committee of senior traditional rulers to go to South-East and engage our brothers there (traditional rulers) so that we will know how we can come in to stop this agitation,” the Sultan said.
He commended some Igbo leaders and governors who did not support the agitation, adding that it must be condemned totally because, “we believe in dialogue, whatever the problem is with anybody, we believe we should sit down and discuss and a solution will be found.”
Also, the Governor of Adamawa State, Umar Jibrila Bindow, has raised the alarm over the influx of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from neighbouring countries including Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad and Niger, describing it as ‘strange’.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has also called on the traditional rulers to explore employment opportunities paticularly in agriculture. Mallam El-rufai said, Nigeria currently spends more than half of its foreign revenue on importation of food and fuel, stressing that the sad situation limits opportunities for citizens of the Northern region.
He said: “We live in a nation that spends more than half of its foreign exchange earnings on importing food and fuel.”

Politics / Missing NNPC $20bin: I Never Said Anybody Stole Money – Emir Sanusi--newspunch by RichieF27: 1:24pm On Nov 22, 2015
Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, says he never accused any one of stealing money when he raised the alarm, in 2014, alleging that $20 billion was missing from the federation account. He said that though he raised the alarm in good faith, he at no time said any individual had stolen the money, contrary to public perception.

The Kano monarch told a team of PriceWaterhouse Coopers, who were appointed by the Federal Government to carry out a forensic audit of crude oil revenues and remittances by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation between January 2012 and July 2013, that he only raised concern based on information available to him as at the time.
He however stated in the email exchange between him and PwC investigators that the “conclusions and recommendations” he reached “were based on the information available to me in my capacity as the Central Bank Governor”, adding that “it is likely that the provision of any additional information may change some of the conclusions”. Sanusi approved his submission as captured by the PwC investigators to the effect that: “You emphasized that contrary to general belief, you never said money was stolen”.
Sanusi also upheld submissions to the effect that they “focused on unreconciled and unexplained differences which were not remitted, and therefore missing, from the federation account. You insisted that your statements reflected your conclusions, using evidence available to you at the time, that money was being illegally withheld by NNPC and not being remitted to the federation. You remain convinced that the reconciliation provided to you by NNPC only served to prove this point”.

Approving the submission, Sanusi told the PwC investigators that “the content of the email below factually represent our discussions and accurately reflect my views, conclusions and recommendations”.
He added: “Please note that these views, conclusions and recommendations were based on the information available to me in my capacity as the Central Bank Governor and it is likely that the provision of any addition information may change some of the conclusions”.

The email came from Sanusi to NG/ GRM/PwC@EMEA-NG and dated 11/03/2014. It is marked Re: CONFIDENTIAL: Project Mercury Meetings. Time of sending the email from Sanusi’s mail account was 11:54pm. The email which was annexed to the report of the forensic audit of NNPC by PwC was classified as DC1 and “authorized use only confidential”.
The letter read at Paragraph 4 thus: “In conclusion, you stressed again that your primary concern remains the need for transparency and accountability by NNPC, quantifying any unremitted balance withheld by NNPC and facilitating the process for NNPC to remit same.

You made it clear that your submissions were based on facts and data available to you at the time and you fully appreciate your conclusions could change as more information is made available subsequent to your departure from the CBN”.

The letter reads in detail: Your Royal Highness, Thank you for making the time to meet us to discuss your views as it relates to our ongoing mandate of investigating the Crude Oil revenues due to the federation account. During our discussion, we (PwC) did not receive any documentation from you.

You stated your position as it relates to the crude oil revenues has not changed and all documentation available to you were submitted to the senate committee.
Please review this summary and confirm if it factually represents our discussions. Please feel free to highlight any areas you feel we might have misrepresented or misunderstood.

As we mentioned during our meeting, once we receive your confirmation, this email will be included in our records/reports. We have summarized our discussions with you below.

Meeting Summary 1. Background: that as the Central bank governor, you alerted the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria about concerns you had on material and significant differences between the CBN’s estimatesof what NNPC ought to be remitting to the Federation and actual cash receipts.

You requested explanations on these differences as you were of the view that the unremitted amounts were being held at NNPC (and NNPC subsidiary agencies) in violation of the law and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. You advised that NNPC be compelled to desist from this practice… Read more in the bromide of letter attached.

Politics / Fayose: Buhari Killed Awolowo, Alamieyeseigha - Thecable by RichieF27: 9:51pm On Nov 20, 2015
Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of masterminding the deaths of Obafemi Awolowo, notable Nigerian leader and Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, former governor of Bayelsa state. Awolowo died in 1987, while Alamieyeseigha passed on last month. Appealing to Nigerians to join him in “shaking dictatorship off Buhari”, Fayose said the president should be held responsible if anything untoward happens to Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser. Fayose protested the refusal to allow Dasuki seek medical attention abroad despite the court order which granted him the permission. “President Buhari seized late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s international passport and prevented him from travelling abroad for medicare in 1985, thereby leading to his untimely death of 1987,” read a statement issued on Fayose’s behalf by Lere Olayinka, his spokesman. “Buhari also hounded former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, to death all in the name of fighting perceived political opponents. “Therefore, it has become necessary to raise the alarm that nothing must happen to Dasuki. “The fate that befell Awolowo in 1985 must not be allowed to befall Sambo Dasuki in 2015 and Nigerians must rise against this Buhari’s dictatorship and his instrument of oppression, Lawal Daura. “The Department of State Services (DSS) placement of the former NSA under house arrest despite court order that his international passport be released so that he can travel abroad for medical treatment is wicked, inhuman, dictatorial and a clear attempt to deny him of his rights to life as enshrined in the Constitution of Nigeria. “Nigerians, especially men of the judiciary, must join hands to shake dictatorship off the body of President Buhari and his hatchet man, Alhaji Lawal Daura. “Nigerians, who fought late General Sanni Abacha to a standstill, will fight this emerging Buhari’s ‘militocracy,’ which is a clear threat to our hard-earned democracy.” Follow us on twitter @thecableng

Politics / Robert Mugabe Says ‘africa Needs Another Revolution’ by RichieF27: 11:29pm On Nov 19, 2015
President Mugabe has said Africa needs another revolution as it lacks complete independence due to the continued exploitation of it’s natural resources by the erstwhile masters.

The President, who was invited to the G20 summit in his capacity as the AU chair, told world leaders attending the meeting on Sunday that the continent remained at the level of subsistence, but with support, could register growth and development.

“We don’t control our economy. Our natural resources are exploited by our erstwhile masters. It is that area which we must address with you. That requires another revolution.

“Even in politics we have others who want to overlook us. We need technology, funding, loans, not just grants to get us to move beyond primary to secondary levels. Adding value to our resource. That will give us greater capacity. Greater value,” said the President.

President Mugabe said he was glad that countries like China, India, Japan and Turkey have invested in “those areas of our infrastructure and have helped us build institutions for skills upgrading.”

President Mugabe added: “The educational levels of our people must be raised so they are able to match those of the advanced industries.”

He said the AU had adopted sustainable development goals leading to 2063 that would see the continent’s economies moving from primary to secondary production.

“You look at us as a lower class now because we don’t qualify to be in your G-20 for now. But with support we should achieve inclusive growth and development. Our people have natural resources. But we want them to enjoy natural resources that are in their hands, that are in their hands. We want them in their hands,” said President Mugabe.

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese President Xi Jinping, along with many other leaders around the world listened attentively as President Mugabe spoke.

The summit, which was held at the Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort and Convention Centre, was supposed to focus on migration and climate change, but this has changed following the deadly attacks in Paris, France which left more than 130 people dead.

Talks on ISIS have now taken centre stage with Turkish President Mr Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his US counterpart Mr Obama, holding a press conference to denounce the attacks in Paris.

After the press conference, the summit started with the leaders from the various nations walking into the summit venue after posing for handshakes with Mr Erdogan.

Politics / The Nnamdi Kanu Phenomena VERSUS The Nigeria Countless Lies-cnn by RichieF27: 9:12pm On Nov 10, 2015
ILLUSTRATION
Once upon a time in Aba, precisely in 1996, a well constructed and beautifully decorated 3Storey building housing tenants and a warehouse for packing imported goods was gutted down by fire, destroying houses within the building plus goods worth billions of Naira. A panel was set up to investigate the possible cause of the fire, but every attempt to unravel the puzzle led back to the conclusion that the fire was a mysterious one. At least it made sense from the context of African mentality, and the matter rested.
Few months after, 3 kids were playing within the vicinity and one of them said to the other 2: “This man has come again to burn another house”. The statement drew the attention of an older man and a meeting was called. Some youths were sent to bring the madman that the children accused.
During interrogation, the madman denied making a fire that burnt down the house. His next line of defense put everyone into confusion when he said: “I don’t know what you people are talking about”. He put his hand in his trouser pocket, brought out a matchbox and trucks a stick before concluding. “I just started a little fire besides this house, you people can go and find the person that started that big one”. That was all there is.
Nigeria was built on a tripod of lies, deceit, and hatred.
When Britain conquered the North, the Northerners refused to send their children to school because they believed in the system where one man is supposed to be the shining star (The Kings), while the rest comes to do “Rianka dede” and eat food or any other pecks. But the Biafrans were libertarians who believed in equality. They sent their people to school to learn the Whitman’s ways. After the Colonial masters left, the Biafrans held almost every clerical and administrative post in Nigeria as the educated folk, which was where the deep-rooted hatred started. The Suaduana of Sokoto in and interview said: “If there is any work to be done and there is no Hausa person to employ, we will give the job to an expatriate like you (referring to the white interviewer), but if there is none, we will consider other people like the Yoruba’s, but for the Igbos, No! There are too domineering, if you employ them today as a laborer, they will try to rise to be the manager” That tells you all you need to know. This same idealogy was the cause of massacre of the Biafrans in the North from in 1945, 1966, 1967-1970, through even to today both silently and openly. All they use it a good media story to bury it.
The discovery of oil and the supposed continued interest of Britain made them to handover Nigeria to the Northerners and reminded them that it they allow the Biafrans to go on their own, the Northerners will die of hunger because they were the poorest part of the country. So when the war broke out, reintegrating the Biafrans was the only option to keep the North surviving and the oil flowing to the Britain.
This write-up is not a history lesson, but an attempt to x-ray the main reason why Nigeria has never been one, and can never be one. Even Frederick Luggard in his report to the crown of England stated that: “Northern and Southern Nigeria are like water and oil that can never mix”.
Many years after the war, Nigeria continued to duel on the fire of lies lit by the British. They decided to hate the Biafrans for no reason. To achieve this, they started lying to the Biafrans in the Riverine areas that their problem was their brothers in the hinterland – the Ibo. It caused a division that made the Biafrans lose the war, while the North and the Yorubas gained everything, the oil and the glory. Then after the war, Biafrans were further divided with more lies of calling some parts Niger Delta, South-South, South East, Oil Patch, etc, and it has kept them divided for as long as possible while the cabals from the North keep sharing the oil money among themselves, leaving the Biafra lands undeveloped and in abject poverty. The deceit of the Nigeria government and their inhuman policies has made it impossible to survive in Biafra lands, same reason why the people of Biafra are scattered all over the world suffering untold pains, scavenging for a means to survive. Yet in their countless lies, the Northerners through the help of their Yoruba marksmen – brought an idea that the Ibo’s love money. With the help of their lying newspapers and media preponderance, they killed the brain of every Biafran and kept telling them that they hated each other. ONE Nigeria became the biggest of all the lies, because they all know very succinctly that the only thing keeping Nigeria one is the oil flowing from Biafralands and the continued oppression of the Biafrans, their subjugation and subjection to perpetual, abject poverty.
MEDIA PREPONDERANCE
One of the ways the Nigeria government has continued to spread hatred of the Biafrans by other Nigerians is in the craftiness and clear-cut interweaving of countless lies with the truth. They have over the years exercised total media blanket on the main issues of – Lies, Propaganda, Gang-up, Hatred, Tribal bigotry, Ethnic Bigotry, Sectional divides, Religious Divides, Insensitivity to people’s plight. They keep saying the Ibos are corrupt, but it will surprise anyone to know that the greatest thieves of Nigeria had been the Hausas and the Yorubas that ever led Nigeria, whereas the newspapers cover their tracks for them. The examples abound. IBB, OBJ, Umaru Dikko, Buhari, Abubakar, Abacha etc are all confirmed looters with Dollars abroad, Tinubu, Atiku to name but a few are all under the covering of the countless lies of Nigeria Media, they all still walk free upon the weight of evidences against them. But every Biafran – man or woman that has ever looted are either languishing in jail in Britain or still being hounded. The British has been a very good madman in escalating the fire they had already started, even as the 3Storey building is almost fully burnt.

THEN ENTERS NNAMDI KANU
Kanu is the director of London-based radio station, Radio Biafra, which he founded in 2009 with the help of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Kanu explained the station, which the Nigerian government deemed illegal, aims to “bring hope, enlightenment and knowledge to our people”.
The Nigerian government claimed in July that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) had managed to jam Radio Biafra’s signal in Nigeria. But they only lied.

One thing the Nigerian government can’t condone is the TRUTH. When Nnamdi came with the truth to educate the people, it took just a little time for him to win the peoples’ mind because the truth came on air for the first time in Nigeria.

He says the things no one had ever said in the history of Nigeria, those truths that had been systematically buried and left to rot away. Nobody speaks about the Biafran war and the genocide so that the war criminals like Yakubu Gowon, IBB, OBJ etc will continue to walk free after committing countless heinous war crimes against humanity. It takes the courage of one courageous man to liberate thousands of courageous men. Through his truth telling courage, he brought his people into light and dissected bit-by-bit the many years of media lies of the Yoruba gutter media. The truths in his lessons include:
1. That our current President raped a 9years old girl when he was 45 (A fact nobody ever knew before then).
2. That Buhari on BBC Hausa Radio said: “an Attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the North.
3. That the Northerners bring nothing to the table of Nigeria.
4. Our leaders – past and present are the real criminals and enemies of Nigeria.
5. That the people of Biafra were never at any time enemies.
6. That Buhari said that Abacha was not corrupt.
7. That Obasanjo said just recently that they would deal with Boko Haram the way they dealt with Biafra.
8. That Britain helped the Hausas to commit genocide of killing over 3million Biafrans while the world look the other way.
9. The list is unending and there is nothing he ever said that was not the truth.
People can only follow the light, not darkness.

CURRENTLY
The arrest of Nnamdi Kanu has continued to cause protest in the Biafra lands. In the normal way of the Nigeria oppression, they are shooting innocent women on a peaceful protest and clamping the protesters into prisons. To what end I ask? Why is the world still looking the other way? Are the Biafrans really part of the world where the Amnesty International and United Nations operate?
The British Government came to West Africa and put a little fire, went back to Britain and whatever that is happening in Nigeria now, Nigerians should go and find the cause.
The only problem now is that the crop of Biafrans leading this campaign is educated to the rightful meaning of the word education. As a result, the outcome of this impending doom will be completely different from the one in 1967, unless the world rises up to its responsibility. Freedom is an alienable right of every indigenous people on earth and Biafrans belongs the earth as well.

Politics / A Twist In The Ipob One Million Man March by RichieF27: 4:55am On Nov 09, 2015
Watching the protest organized by the Indigenous people of Biafra yesterday on channels television, some thing caught my attention. I saw banners bearing the pictures of Nnamdi Kanu and James Ibori with inscriptions like " release Nnamdi Kanu and James Ibori" , " Release our Heroes" and " We are tied of the British fraud".
Another interesting part of this protest on the Niger bridge axis is that the protest started all the way from Agbor in Delta state through Asaba to Onitsha on the 6th and as at 10pm yesterday 7th they were already at Awka the capital of
Anambra state heading to Enugu. For those of you who know the antecedence of James Onanefe Ibori, would agree with me that he is one man who commands alot of respect like Alamieghiesia in the Niger delta and if his brothers have, decided to join the IPOB family to fight for, justice then Buhari and his government is in for more troubles. I even heard the PPRO of police Anambra state saying on a national TV that the protest
is overwhelming but so far it has been peaceful.
On the Rivers state axis,it was recorded that the Movement of the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) have also joined the protest with banners bearing pictures of Nnamdi Kanu and Ken Saro Wiwa. This was due anger arising from the neglect the Ogoni people have suffered over the years and the recent seizure of
an art work " Ogoni Bus" donated to Nigeria in memory of Ken Saro Wiwa which was seized by the Nigerian
customs at the Lagos port.
Listening to Radio Biafra yesterday afternoon,I heard callers from Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa with funny names like " Commander shoot and stand", " Black scorpion" etc calling to issue orders to their followers to return to the creeks. Women are not left out as I,also heard
women calling in to give information on the movement of security agents and their experiences in the protest and how they had to move through swampy areas to join in the protest in Bayelsa state, some of them even got wounded but still continued after they were treated.
I even heard security agents who called as anonymous giving out tips on how to beat the security agencies and to avoid arrest, some of them suggested to the deputy director of Radio Biafra Uche Mefor to alert the protesters to always move in large numbers as with that it will be difficult for the security operatives to arrest any of them.
The twist here is that Radio Biafra has gone beyond Nnamdi Kanu,it has giving birth to a struggle for survival, it has reawakened the consciousness of the
marginalized people in Nigeria and Buhari has giving impetus to it with his 97% and 5% dichotomy, lopsidedness in his appointments so far and body
language.
The arrest and continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu may bring Nigeria to its knees and if that happens, two things are involved which I see as the break up of this fake contraption called Nigeria as was predicted by the USA or an acceptable peace which will be achieved
through dialogue and negotiations. Whichever way it goes ,Buhari will be the loser and Nnamdi Kanu and Nigerians as winners.
For those of you who still think Nnamdi Kanu represents only the Igbo race, think again because the happenings in recent times says otherwise. Nigeria under Buhari is seating on a time bomb and Buhari is carrying the burden of guilt which may soon overwhelm him if proper care is not taking.
Nnamdi Kanu represents the voiceless women being raped all over the south by Fulani herdsmen, he represents the people whose land have been polluted
by the IOC's with no means of livelihood, he represents those who are murdered in cold blood in plateau and other north central states, he represents all the people who have suffered one form of maltreatment in Nigeria and Nnamdi Kanu is now a movement and you can not stop that movement by arresting Nnamdi Kanu.

Crime / Fulani Herdsmen Are Mercenaries, Armed Robbers –CAN - Daily Sun News by RichieF27: 4:39am On Nov 09, 2015
From Fred Itua, Abuja

LEADERSHIP of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has described Fulani herdsmen in the southern part of the country as mercenaries and armed bandits.

The apex Christian body kicked against a suggestion for the establishment of grazing reserves for Fulani herdsmen in all parts of the country adding that such move portends “very grave danger to our national peace and security.”

CAN also warned state governments and other concerned authorities plotting to stop prayers and assembly devotion in primary and secondary schools across the country to have a rethink. It said such thoughts were “evil which must not prevail.”

The association, however, commended Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, for reversing what it described as “a wrong directive of an ambitious permanent secretary on this matter” and advised other state governments “involved in this ungodly directive” to take a cue.

The position of CAN is contained in a communiqué issued by its General Secretary, Rev. Musa Asake yesterday at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

“The fear of bomb attack or any such danger being given by some state authorities as the reason(s) for school children not to gather in prayer and learning is grossly misplaced and untenable. It is our candid opinion that government should provide adequate security where there are concerns of this nature.

“We commend the Governor Ayade for reversing a wrong directive of an ambitious permanent secretary on this matter and advise other state authorities involved in this ungodly directive to take a cue.”

Speaking on plans by the government to establish grazing reserves, Asake said: “CAN has observed with keen interest the ongoing national discussion over establishment of grazing reserves for Fulani herdsmen in all parts of the country. This proposal, if implemented portends very grave danger to our national peace and security.”
Politics / With Biafra It Is Finished, Says Gowon - Vanguard by RichieF27: 4:30am On Nov 09, 2015
General Yakubu Gowon made this statement recently in reaction to the resent protests by some youths.
He said that Nigerians have put behind them the bad memories of the 1967 civil war, and that those behind these protests on Biafra don’t have an inkling what the Biafra war cost Nigerians.

The elder statesman speaking in Lafia, the Nasarwa State capital shortly after a malaria eradication campaign questioned that ‘do they want us to go to another war? but hoped and I prayed to God that such should not happen.’

He went further to say that those involved in this campaign were being driven by just a few people and that majority of the Igbo people do not share the same view.

‘It is only them, the few, that are there but the majority of the Igbo people that I know are not with them’

Acceding to the fact that the protesters have the right to express their feelings he stated “with Biafra it is finished”.

He said these people ‘let them say their views, yes it democracy but let s make sure they can express their wishes and desires but let them remember with Biafra it is finished. it is not a threat’

He further said that keeping Nigeria one was behind all that he did and not for hatred for the Igbo as that was what Odumegwu Ojukwu also stood for.

All I did is not a result of hatred against the Igbos but on the principle of keeping Nigeria one and this is all we are trying to do and that was why at the end of the war in other to see that there is no heard feeling we used the term no victor no vanquished

I have said if there is anything of this sort anywhere in any part of the country just like the problem of Boko Haram we should deal with it, Nigeria should deal with it in matured way .
Politics / Britain Toys With Woes Of Another Biafra War - Sun Newspaper by RichieF27: 4:35am On Nov 08, 2015
Following the arrest of some Nigerians demonstrating for the resuscitation of sovereign state of Biafra, Britain is back at its pastime of trying to steal the show with its claim of what it called its civil war time record of preserving the sanctity of Nigeria’s national borders. Certainly with its latest action, Britain is still exhibiting the mentality of the 1885 Berlin Conference of land grabbers in Africa. Unfortunately, Britain’s civil war time record of purportedly preserving Nigeria’s national border was discredited at that time and even now.

Obviously, only for its self-serving economic and political interests, Britain will ever muddle Nigeria’s political problems to further relics of its political past. Otherwise, why did Britain not preserve the sanctity of the national borders of the federation of Malaysia and Singapore? On the contrary, Britain granted independence to the two countries as separate nations. Similarly, why did Britain not preserve the sanctity of the national border of the federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland? Remarkably, Britain carved out three separate independent countries, namely northern Rhodesia (today’s Zimbabwe)’ southern Rhodesia (today’s Zambia) and Nyasaland (now known as Malawi). Britain’s record of experimenting with federal form of government in its colonial territories collapsed all over. West Indies federation broke into sovereign Jamaica and Trinidad-Tobago. Even the federation of small islands, like St. Kitts-Anguilla broke into separate independent nations and are today, all members of Commonwealth and United Nations.

In flaunting its so-called record of preserving Nigerian national border, Britain is engaging in diplomatic fraud. After Nigeria’s civil war, what was Britain’s record on preservation of national borders in Africa and other parts of the world? Was Britain not a major party to the enunciation of the United Nation’s principle of self-determination for citizens all over the world? Did Britain not spearhead the break-up of Sudan into two independent nations of Northern Sudan and Southern Sudan through United Nation’s principle of self-determination? Did Britain not support the break-up of erstwhile Ethiopia into the current two independent nations of Ethiopia and Eritrea through the United Nations principle of self-determination? What therefore, is peculiar in Nigeria to make its good or bad prospects a matter of life or death for Britain? Whether Nigeria will or should break up or not will and should be the mutual agreement of its various peoples but surely NOT in any way a choice for Britain. This intruder should, therefore, shut up and keep off.

By the way, Britain was delighted at the break-up of its powerful rival, Soviet Union into more than 20 separate independent republics, the most outstanding of which is today’s Russia. Noticeably, Britain, the self-proclaimed armed guard of national borders of nations like Nigeria, was laughably helpless when Russia invaded Ukraine to enforce the secession of Crimea, which is now a Russian protectorate. Ukraine was formerly a part of the defunct Soviet Union.

There is a wrong message about Biafra. At the mere mention of that entity, the mind goes straight to the unsuccessful attempt of the defunct eastern region of Nigeria to secede. We do not seem to have learnt any lesson from the war, an arrogance, which, therefore, exhibits contempt and threat of government might to crush any protest, which even if genuine, is instantly perceived as an attempt to repeat the war exercise. Hopefully, we will not go that way again. And the lesson of the war is that government at the state and federal levels must look into community complaints and provide remedy instead of throwing its weight of federal/state might about.

Rather surreptitiously, Biafra is no longer identifiable with only secession of South East from Nigeria. Instead, Biafra has become a figure of expression of whatever grievances of groups or sections all over the country. During his tenure as elected president, Olusegun Obasanjo said he was serving Nigeria and not Yorubaland. Accordingly, for eight years, South West was not developed. None of Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Sagamu-Benin expressway, Lagos Abeokuta road or Ibadan-Ife road was touched. South westerners went Biafran and publicly expressed their determination to walk out of the Nigerian federation if their political demands at national conference organised by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan were not met. And only recently, some south westerners led by former military governor of Oyo State, General Adeyinka Adebayo, threatened to reconsider their continued stay in the Nigerian federation if kidnapping and menace of cattle rearers were not checked in South West. That was not a threat to the sanctity of Nigeria’s national borders?

At a critical stage of the constitutional crisis on succeeding ailing the late President Umar Yar’Adua, Ijaw leader Edwin Clark went on record that “…..we will secede if our son (Goodluck Jonathan) is not sworn in as President.”

The North under President Jonathan, lamented loss of political power and demanded return of the presidency to the North, failing which Tanko Yakasai went Biafran by threatening to make Nigeria ungovernable. Has Nigeria been governable since then? An acceptable form of secession threat? During the same Jonathan national political conference, a delegate/emir from Adamawa State threatened to break away with his kingdom to rejoin his ethnic group in Cameroon.

Neither is Nigeria the only country facing prospects of disintegration. Britain is not more secure. But the difference is that instead of threat or actual use of force, dialogue and remedy are provided for seeming group or community grievances. United Nations’ principle of self-determination applies all over the world, contrary to the bogey of sanctity of national borders with which Britain is terrorising Nigerians. When Britain was threatened with disintegration, the response of the central authorities in London, even if in panic, was to grant substantial political autonomy to Wales and Scotland. Even then, Scotland insisted on complete independence from Britain and two years ago, only narrowly lost a referendum to that effect. Scotland unilaterally organised its referendum instead of waiting for Britain’s grace. In any case, the leader of Scottish government, Nicola Sturgeon, only a few weeks ago, defied the British government with assurances that the struggle for Britain’s disintegration leading to Scotland’s independence was not yet over. Why did Britain not arrogantly proclaim the sanctity of its national borders or arrest the Scottish leader, Nicola Sturgeon?

However, there is this caution for both sides of the Biafra controversy. None of the agitators or demonstrators is up to 50 years and all don’t have the faintest idea of the agonies of the war, which broke out 48 years ago. No Nigerian over 50 years would dream of another war. In a war, only eventual survivors are sure of their survival. Otherwise, as long as the war continues, nobody is sure of the other’s survival. Even sometimes, enemies on one side will develop sympathy for the plight of enemies on the other side. That is at a most humane stage of a war. Otherwise, in a war, orphans will emerge if they are lucky. Otherwise, they would have perished with mums and dads. Widows and widowers are inevitable products of war and burdens on remnant families. War, you don’t wish it for your enemy. Your elimination may even be necessary for the survival of your war front comrade. There is never any witness to that sad fact. War? Think it over. Major Roberts was an army officer in mufti, on a visit to Apapa wharf, a high security area early in the war. Argument ensued but was not quick enough to justify his presence in the area. Within seconds, he was shot dead. That was the standing instruction. The deceased officer did not die in action and was felled by who would pass for one of his boys. Casino cinema, Yaba was some 200 kilometres to the nearest war front in Benin, Edo State. Yet there was fatal bombing by agents of the enemy, leaving victims among the innocent cinema enthusiasts.

Restless potential prosecutors of another civil war must face the fact that unlike last time, there are observers, international observers to, from their home countries, enforce rules of civilised engagements. These days, you may not escape charges for crimes against humanity. And to perfect such criminal charges, satellite television will beam over all military operations. Also note that national borders of countries are no longer considered sacrosanct or inviolate to offer a basis for denying subjects their right to self-determination. Are countries not, therefore, not rendered vulnerable to balkanisation? Which country will, therefore, be safe from disintegration? The simple response is that even the so-called Balkans of old have self-balkanised. Yugoslavia, yesteryear beacon against disintegration, since broke up into various new independent nations of Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia, among others. Evwn Czechoslovakia of old also broke into Czech and Slovak. Heavens did not fall as all the new countries enjoy mutual respect.

Instead of arrests and trials of Biafran protesters, Nigeria can learn from Britain by removing possible areas of grievances of the protesting Biafrans. a major cause of their grievances is unequal access to development. This is not to say that President Muhammadu Buhari, or only his administration is responsible for the causes of the agitation of the Biafrans. South easterners were most profound in supporting Obasanjo, even when South West rejected him. For eight years, nothing was done on the poor infrastructure, specifically roads in South East. Jonathan was in power for six years with the solid support of South East. The massive support for Jonathan from that area yielded no slight improvement in the state of their roads. And, of course, the promised second Niger Bridge is still being awaited. Former Vice President Alex Ekwueme was in power for four years and South East leaders quarrelled among themselves on which government – federal or state – was to construct or reconstruct particular roads because such roads were not federal roads. Looking back today, what would it have mattered if the Federal Government of that time constructed even local government roads in South East?

On the other hand, whether federal or state roads, Obasanjo did not touch a single road in South West throughout his tenure of eight years, for which he is much detested. South easterners are, therefore, partly responsible for lack of access to road development. They had opportunities to utilise their votes against those responsible for infrastructural decay in South East. Instead, for no purpose, they voted for their oppressors. Yet, that does not mean the infrastructural decay in South East should not be redressed. To leave the situation unredressed is to provide ammunition for intensifying the capability of the protesters. On the other hand, massive rehabilitation of roads in South East will enable Federal Government to easily outflank the Biafran protesters. We must face the fact that any part of Nigeria – South West, North West, North East or North – with state of infrastructural degradation as in South East will always breed Biafran agitators.

On his part, Senator Shehu Sani sounded unusually cheap when he falsely accused south easterners who did not support Buhari for the presidency as sponsors of the Biafran agitators. These Biafrans demonstrated against former President Obasanjo, the late President Yar’Adua and ex-President Jonathan during their respective tenure. Were the Biafran agitators also sponsored by those who were against the presidency of these former leaders?

Nigerian government must not swallow the bait of the British government on a nebulous sanctity of our national borders. The government should not be tempted to engage in forceful clampdown on the demonstrators, which will only generate political tension and turn the boys into heroes. Areas of grievances of the protesters should be looked into and redressed, especially the roads. Fortunately, the Senate Adhoc Committee on Works headed by Barnabas Gemade has just completed an inspection tour of roads throughout the South East. The report of the findings on the scale of erosion in South East, as shown on television, will shock President Buhari.
