Dan Burn is a powerful left centre-back who has blossomed under Graham Potter and his £13m ($18m) acquisition represents an instant upgrade. On the other side, Kieran Trippier is extremely reliable and ought to indirectly improve the performances of Jamaal Lascelles. Matt Targett is a solid if unspectacular left-back, but when midfielder Matt Ritchie has been playing there all season, Targett is a welcome addition nonetheless. On the simplest level, better defenders means better defending, but for Howe a leaky defence is a tactical issue. His Bournemouth team were fundamentally too expansive when in possession. The lines of their 4-4-2 were overly stretched and the pressing often appeared sporadic, which meant opponents could slice through them all too easily. Fortunately, Newcastle’s new signings should also help this side of things. Trippier, Burn, and Bruno Guimaraes are very talented on the ball, and their ability to retain possession under pressure should lead to fewer giveaways in the Newcastle half. In other words, Newcastle can begin to gradually hold more possession and move higher up the pitch, avoiding the pitfalls of Howe’s Bournemouth – who moved in the opposite direction as the manager’s transfers failed to improve his team’s passing. Howe’s trajectory at Bournemouth was to move away from possession-obsessive football in his first two years in the Premier League to a deeper line of engagement and a counter-attacking approach. In that respect his appointment at Newcastle - as a midpoint between two styles as they look to build – made sense |
Arsenal had a pretty poor January transfer window so there is some pressure on that to improve ahead of the summer. The Sun claims that the Gunners are looking to boost their strikeforce with the signings of Real Sociedad's Alexander Isak and Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin , while Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has also been identified as a player to take the club to the next level. After letting a host of squad players depart, while letting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang join Barcelona for free, Arsenal have saved some money in the long-term and are ready to spend it in the summer. Isak has a €90 million release clause, while Calvert-Lewin (€60m) and Neves (€50m) could mean they end up splashing over €200m |

Gareth Bale was seen laughing at Eden Hazard after his Real Madrid teammate was instructed to sit back down on the bench after warming up during Thursday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final against Athletic Bilbao. Bale and Hazard were both left on the bench for the full 90 minutes by Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti. Los Blancos were dumped out of the competition when Alex Berenguer popped up with the winning goal for Athletic in the 89th minute. Ancelotti made two substitutions during the game: Isco for Vinicius Jr, who’d just returned from international duty with Brazil, in the 60th minute and Eduardo Camavinga for Toni Kroos in the 76th minute. Hazard, who has scored one goal and provided two assists in 18 appearances for Madrid this season, was told to take his place back on the bench after warming up. For whatever reason, this appeared to amuse Bale, who was seen laughing at the Belgium international. “Whether it was sarcasm, disbelief or something completely unrelated, who knows, but at least the Welshman is smiling in spite of his situation,” |

FIFA's ground-breaking new limb-tracking VAR offside technology disallowed its first-ever goal at the Club World Cup on Thursday ahead of its roll out at the World Cup in Qatar later this year. Alameri Zayed thought he had scored his second goal of the game in first-half stoppage time for Al-Jazira of the United Arab Emirates against AS Pirae of Tahiti in their first-round tie, but the VAR technology ruled the striker was marginally in front of defender Alvin Tehau. Al-Jazira were already 3-0 up at the time and went on to win 4-1. The semi-automated system, which aims to massively reduce the time it takes to make an offside decision and provide clear visualisation for supporters, is in the final stage of live trials at the Club World Cup in the UAE. It has been extensively tested across several FIFA tournaments, including the Arab Cup in December. It is hoped that the new graphics, which move the camera in line with the incident -- much like Hawk-eye's goal-line technology -- will remove much of the misunderstanding around offside decisions. The VAR no longer manually places lines on the broadcaster's television pictures, with the new system using dedicated cameras and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Twelve cameras are installed under the stadium roof to track the players using up to 29 data points at 50 times per second. This is processed in real time and sent automatically to the VAR. It means most offside calls could be made in seconds rather than minutes. The AI-based technology uses automated ball detection and creates three-dimensional models of a player's position instantly. It improves the accuracy of the kick point, another great area of controversy, using tracking data and sensors. It is planned to replace the current offside technology being used by the Premier League, and all major domestic leagues, by the start of the 2023-24 season. Alongside its use for VAR, the technology will be able to completely recreate a match as a virtual animation with only a few seconds' delay, allowing coaches, players and other support staff to watch a game or any specific incident from any vantage point. |

SMH...this country Sha.. everything is in doubt even our population.. LoL...just doing everything possible to loot the subsidy money..no light,do you know businesses dependent on petrol?..do you know the massive inflation it will cause? yet some minister is proposing #5000 transport allowance for 60% Nigerians;that will even cost 5x more than the subsidy monthly...These our leaders are jokingly and stinkingly wicked sha |
is really transport going to be the major concern?..I think it should be the inflation that comes with it,the businesses dependent on generators for power..this country is a joke and that joke is motivated by wickedness..pay that #5000 for even four months and that subsidy for two years, and they say we don't have money, well no need talking no one is paying any #5000,they just want to loot the subsidy cash..fix power and the complain won't be much!! |
Trust is a very important asset in a relationship/marriage..now I will only talk of a particular aspect;which is trust in communication..it takes trust to tell you partner that they did something wrong because some people would apologise but keep that particular act that they now know annoys you for future purposes.what do I mean?..for example you know your partner loves a very clean home, then when you have issues, you mess up the house just to get back at them, that's simply using that against them. secondly you partner confides a secret in you maybe a past relationship or a family issue or anything like that;then you use it against them during a fight..the implication of such actions may include these or even more: 1) you partner may never trust you again with anything no matter how much you apologise and make up 2) that lack of trust may grow deeper and deeper into other issues of your relationship/marriage 3) that trust may like become non-existent Please we should be careful when trying to get at someone, when it comes to relationship/marriage and always remember IT TAKES TRUST FOR A PARTNER TO TELL YOU HOW MUCH YOU HURT THEM,they trust you would make amends that's why they are telling you if not they won't,so don't ruin that trust |
forgiveness is key in every relationship/marriage because no matter the connection a partner must offended at some point. Now the question is how those one establish a sustainable forgiving heart in that relationship/marriage?..this meant sound shocking, the greater responsibility lies with the person that offended the other..now these steps should be followed 1) apologising 2) apologising and really showing you are sorry 3) doing everything to make your partner forgive the last be the most important comes after your partner accepts your apology, that is number 4 4) after the apology has been accepted it brings a greater responsibility of you putting in all the work to make sure that mistake does happen again because if you keep repeating it and apologising over time your partner will loose confidence and trust in your apologies and that can lead to so many cracks in that relationship.. FORGIVENESS IS KEY,BUT NO ONE IS OBLIGATED TO FORGIVE ANYONE,ITS NOT A RIGHT,ITS EARNED AND WHEN EARNED,IT TAKES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY TO SUSTAIN IT! |
shameful though |
the plan of subsidy to be removed has been suspended but the question is what was the minister for finance thinking when she proposed #5000 to 60% of Nigerians as transport allowance monthly?..subsidy is between 130 to 250 billion naira monthly as they said...now giving 60% of Nigerians (i.e 120million Nigerians) #5000 monthly will amount to 720billion monthly...so madam minister for finance are we replacing the subsidy that we claim is too much of a burden to the government with something much higher, about five times higher?..some people should really explain some things to Nigerians...is this really democracy?..cus the government ain't answerable to it's citizens at all...or is there some agenda behind this whole subsidy removal?..too bad though... NIGERIANS DESERVE BETTER..we are educated, don't rule us as if we are dummies! |
