the op sounds gullible. he even called a beer parlour a "pub", he must think he is in Manchester, England...lol.
he keeps talking about this "chidinma", he tries to tell us a romantic story of him and this chidinma girl. I see optimism in the op, optimism which will fast fade away once the op who sounds like a rich kid gets to experience the true colours of the zoo and it's inhabiants.
Even the so called obudu is overrated. can it compete with Kruger Park in South Africa, parks in Namibia, victoria falls, the grand canyon etc?

the country needs strong working class youths that will work to end the violence, killings, mutilations, robberies, rape, kidnappings, terrorism, hate, poverty and anger in the zoo. the country needs not selfish, spoilt, rich, sheepish and romantic male youths that like writing subtle love stories about trips they had with chidinma as if they and those they live with in their zoo are gentle, progressive, civilized and good British people.

I usually advise Christians here not to marry demon incarnates but they rarely listen. they will be like "what's this guy talking about?" "what does he mean by saying that some people are not humans"

BuddhaPalm:
Culture and tradition are not static.

A century and a half ago, a white slave owner would have have it found it very amusing, if you suggested a black man could someday be a US president.

At a point in our history, it was acceptable to murder twins, enslave others and make human sacrifices.

Now it is no longer so.

A few years ago, if you had a child out of wedlock, you would be ostracized.

No one bats an eye anymore.

Sections of the Bible support slavery, mass murder and all sorts of detestable things. But as a society, we've grown beyond some of those, so we pretend they are not there, and go along with what is presently culturally acceptable.

Cultural change doesn't happen in a blink, it takes a while.

The goal isn't for you to change and be less hostile towards gays, it's probably too late for that.

The people who will accept gays are the kids being born right now, the kids in the nursery school and those who will be born tomorrow.

A few generations ago airing a show like Big Brother would have been inconceivable. But here we are.

The next generation will be more forgiving of some of the things we condemn with such bile today.

"A scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it." ------ Max Planck
who is black president you are referring to? is it Obama? Obama is not black, he is mixed race, he has a white mother and that's the reason the decsendants of the slave owners gave him the presidency.

Christianity EtcJJT Park Alausa And The Eyo Statue, A Christian Perspective by RighteousI(op):
Driving through Alausa, Ikeja, one will locate JJT Park that was opened last year. A statue of the Eyo masquerade sits on a water fountain in the park. It has been designed such that visitors can walk on the fountain through the Eyo masquerade statue.

The question I am asking is whether it is appropriate for a Christian to visit such a park. Is it sinful for a Christian to attend such a park? Should a Christian associate him or herself with such masquerades?

Note that the yoruba tradition as well as other African tribes mix religion with culture. If should be noted that the Eyo masquerade is religious and not cultural. The government should have realized that such statues in a public park can cause a controversy, government is supposed to be secular.
Since they have dedicated a public park to Eyo masquerade, then they should do the needful, which is to also dedicate a public park to Christianity.

Ha! I wish iylt was that simple. You see how logical people are torn to shreds in this forum for being sane. The problem is not the leaders. Truth is the people dont like doing whats right. you can attest to that... you see them in your cities. The leaders come from the people. The Nigerian culture teaches you to take and take and give nothing to the society in return. It teaches that you do whatever you like irrespective of how your actiobs affect others. With this mindset they expect to grow. With this mindset how do you expect the leadership to be any different? Punky its really tough. To change this country one has to start a sort of mentorship program on a large scale to teach the upcoming generation the importance of giving back and how to collectively work to achieve aims. Teach them that money isnt everything. Maybe then we will get it right but even if you contest and win, the same people who voted you to end corruption will call you a fool of you dont steal.
You sound progressive like an European, but note that you are in a zoo and not in Europe. try applying for a UK Visa and settle there, Nigeria is not for you. if you try to effect positive change, love and good attitude, you will get lynched with petrol or assassinated by the same people you are trying to help. Nigeria is "dog eat dog" barbaric and satanic zoo. you will get rewarded with bad if you either do good or bad to an average Nigerian. so therefore be gentle as doves but be wise as serpents.
