The first step to addressing any challenge is identifying what the issues are. You have aced that already.

The next is to make conscious commitment to avoiding the pitfalls.
Be very intentional in avoiding those pitfalls.

Forgetfulness for example - take notes. Yes! write every damn thing down in a pocket-notebook and make conscious efforts to always use them.

Talking too much? - Ahh! Conscious listening. Practice self restrain, even with pitching yourself as a reminder that you need to say little or nothing!

I had anger issues growing up, even up to my early 30s until I told myself 'this is not good'. It was so bad that even my siblings would be scared around me. I thank God that I made conscious efforts to deal with it. I submitted to God, prayed for help and grace and always tried and apologized when I let off. Today, I am better for it.

My brother, you are not a lost course, but successful character that needs more and committed working.

- Look at the devastating flash floods in Nepal, the severe flooding in Thailand, and the recent flooding in Port Harcourt. These are warnings we should not ignore.

- And please think about the poorest among us. What happens when floodwater rises 4, 5 or 6 feet around a family living in a thatched house with a pit toilet?

- Imagine a mother with a newborn trapped in that situation. The pit toilet is flooded, the home is surrounded by contaminated water, and she has nowhere safe to take her baby. What does she do?

- Nigerians, we need to stop being disconnected from global events. What happens elsewhere can eventually affect us.

- We are a prayerful people. We pray for marriage, prosperity and more children. Let us also pray seriously about the climate.

- Instead of only asking God to give us more children, let us ask God to have mercy on the Earth, restore its balance, and make it habitable and safe for our children and future generations.

- I am not saying we should stop having children. I am saying we must think about the world we are bringing them into. Would you knowingly bring innocent babies into a life-threatening situation?

- This is only the beginning of what climate disruption could bring if we do not take it seriously.

- Wake up. Learn. Prepare. Pray. Act.

I am saying this because Nigerians are my people. I want our children to inherit a world in which they can actually live, thrive and be safe.
