You have low self esteem. I have some sorts of small stature too, but I don't ever see myself as small. I talk with audacity in the midst of my friends, even those that look bigger than me have no option than to accord me the respect that I deserve.

In most cases it's how we see ourselves that people see us. If we see ourselves as small, people will see us small, but once you're big (even though small in stature) and you're vocal enough that you don't allow people dictate you you anyhow, the respect will come in handy.
