dollytino4real: No body is talking about the disrespect the guy gave Wike, everyone is supporting the confrontation aspect of the matter. Wike was not there with weapons or he went to fight, Wike is older than him, he was not going to remain there 4ever, I heard the guy saying am a military man so because of the uniform no body can talk or do anything around his jurisdiction, just my opinion Wike disrespected the young man not the other way round. You can't come in public and call a commissioned officer a fool and expect not to be Confronted. Wike the so-called minister was informed by Yerima that he is acting on orders. That statement alone should have made Wike say; on whose orders and can I speak with the person? And that's it, a professional and matured manner instead of calling the guy a fool in public in the present of his juniors even. The manner in which you guys open threads to type things is worrisome. Wike is a man known for Hauling insults on people. While a Governor of Rivers State, this man came on live tv and called some traditional rulers in Rivers all sorts of names simply because they were on his pay roll. He picked a particular traditional ruler from Omuma, insulted this man on live tv and till today he has never apologised about that and people were laughing. The video is on the Internet. Wike went to church, took a myk and told people thunder fire you, inside a church oooo. Wike feels he's too big and even bigger than Nigeria. Look how he parades himself as if he's the President of Nigeria but the truth is, the day he meets his match, that's the day all these would end. I like the manner the young officer responded to him. |

JoyLong123423: My dad is late and my fiance proposed early this year. We did Introduction a few months ago and my very difficult uncle who is the last of his siblings was asked to handle the sending of Marriage List. He is now asking my fiance to pay over 100k for him to transport himself to the village to collect the list. He says it is tradition.
I have reached out to another uncle to try to reason with him but no one is doing anything about it.
I'm Ukwani from Ndokwa west and I don't believe this is how it is done. I have gone back to read about my culture and asked other people and someone said that the list can be gotten from any cyber cafe in the town. Please is this true?
I need advice as I do not want my uncle to take advantage of my fiance. All this is just to see the Marriage List before he now starts to pay for what is on the list.
I'm scared that he will inflate what is on the list too and no one will do anything about it. Them never born that uncle. If I change am for am once, body go tell am. |

FarahAideed: 2014 : Nigerians have been cast into a furnace, Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka said yesterday
With a biblical allusion, the playwright stated his opinion on the state of the nation, likening President Goodluck Jonathan to the Babylonian autocrat, King Nebuchadnezzar.
He said Nigerians had been cast into a “furnace” in the manner of Shadrach, Meshak and Abednego.
Unfortunately for the citizens, no divine miracle appears to be at hand for a last-minute rescue, Soyinka said.
The three biblical characters, in the book of Daniel, were cast into a fiery furnace for refusing to bow down to an image made by the despotic king, but they were miraculously rescued.
Soyinka, at a media briefing at the Freedom Park in Lagos, with the theme: “King Nebuchadnezzar – the reign of impunity”, said Jonathan’s administration had become known for lawlessness.
“You should easily recall why I opted for King Nebu – the figure that currently sits on the top of our political pile himself evoked it, albeit in a context that virtuously disclaimed any similarities, even tendencies.
https://thenationonlineng.net/soyinka-jonathan-youre-nebuchadnezzar/amp/ A man with no integrity. Just carry bushy white hair full head. Now, he can't speak again. Nobel laureate indeed. |
Politics › Re: Wole Soyinka Destroyed His US Green Card After Trump’s Victory In 2016 by RISQUE: 11:58pm On Oct 28, 2025 |
Bobloco: In 2016, Wole Soyinka, the Nobel laureate, confirmed that he has rendered his US green card “inoperable” following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 presidential election.
On November 2, 2016, speaking at Oxford University’s Ertegun House, Soyinka said if Trump won, he would initiate a “Wolexit” by destroying his green card and severing his ties as a US resident.
“The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up,” the Nobel laureate had said.
Soyinka obtained the green card during a political sabbatical at Emory University in the 1990s with assistance from the late US President Jimmy Carter.
Speaking at a conference in South Africa in 2016, the internationally acclaimed playwright and poet said he had thrown away the green card and returned to where he had always been.
“I have already done it; I have disengaged (from the United States). I have done what I said I would do,” Soyinka had said.
“I had a horror of what is to come with Trump… I threw away the (green) card, and I have relocated, and I’m back to where I have always been.
“As long as Trump is in charge, if I absolutely have to visit the United States, I prefer to go in the queue for a regular visa with others.”
He described his “Wolexit” as a protest against Trump’s “xenophobic rhetoric targeting Blacks, Hispanics, and Muslims” during the presidential election campaign.
A lawful permanent resident like Soyinka (green card holder) can voluntarily abandon or relinquish their US residency.
This is typically done by filing Form I-407, “Record of Abandonment of Lawful Permanent Resident Status,” with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or at a US consulate abroad.
Informally, a person may stop residing in the US and demonstrate an intention to abandon residency, which can lead to loss of permanent resident status.
The US government has recently revoked Soyinka’s non-immigrant visa.
In a letter dated October 23 from the American consulate-general in Lagos, the US government instructed the Nobel laureate to present his passport for visa cancellation, citing “additional information” obtained after issuance.
Soyinka, who said he was not informed of any specific offence linked to the revocation, noted that he had applied for the visa after he received a letter from the US Internal Revenue Service about an audit for tax returns.
The renowned playwright explained that his trip was to resolve the tax issues, adding that he wanted to prevent a situation where the US might advertise him as a “tax dodger” to the world.
