Politics › Re: APC Should Be Weary Of Fubara by RISQUE: 4:42pm On Jan 06 |
9jatriot: Fubara comes across as a treacherous, weak, and sycophantic individual. There’s just something about him that reeks of deceit. With Wike, for all his antics, you at least know where you stand.
Fubara, on the other hand, seems like a fickle-minded opportunist, willing to do anything to cling to power. He plays the role of a sycophant to get what he wants, only to turn his back once his goals are met.
During the campaign, he trailed Wike like a puppet, only to betray him shortly after assuming power. He went as far as demolishing the House of Assembly building in his lust for control and is even suspected of being involved in pipeline sabotage to maintain his grip on power. Such desperation disqualifies him from public office and the responsibility of leadership.
Reports suggest that, for the sake of peace, he was advised to abandon his second-term ambition—and he agreed. He was seen following Wike around during his ordeal, seemingly compliant. He didn’t have to agree; he could have made his case right then to continue his term, but he chose to accept the terms presented.
Yet, the moment he returned to office, he suddenly had the "brilliant" idea to join the APC—not because the president compelled him, but because he sees it as a springboard to regain power. Once again, he’s playing the fool, pretending loyalty to the APC until he secures what he wants.
Personally, I neither like nor trust individuals like him. He isn’t the first governor to turn against his former benefactor, but he’s the only one who makes such a spectacle of it. Even now, the governors of Kaduna and Kano have parted ways with their benefactors, yet they handle it without the same drama.
The APC needs to tread carefully with someone like Fubara. He isn’t joining the party out of a commitment to good governance or loyalty to the APC. If anything, he has proven himself untrustworthy and lacking in wisdom, both in his actions and his timing. They should learn from their experience with Obaseki. Once treacherous, always treacherous.
If I had to choose between Wike and Fubara, I’d trust Wike—flaws and all—any day. At least with Wike, you know what you’re getting. Mr. Poster. Should we give you the trajectory of your Wike? I guess you've seen it before now and you know but as a slave who has lived as one all your life you chose to turn a blind eye. If Fubara is bad, Wike is worst. |

Politics › Re: Fubara: ‘you Cannot Ask Wike To Resign’ – Lloyd Tells Ajibola Basiru by RISQUE: 6:42am On Jan 06 |
press9jatv: Former Chairman of Emuoha Local Government Area in Rivers State, Chidi Lloyd, has faulted the call by the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, asking the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to resign.
Lloyd said such a call was misguided, as the power to appoint or remove a minister rests solely with the President.
Tensions escalated earlier this week when Wike, during an event in Rivers State, told Basiru to steer clear of the state’s political affairs following the APC scribe’s open expression of support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In a swift response, Basiru accused Wike of being obsessed with Rivers’ politics and called on him to resign from his ministerial post to focus on the state’s affairs.
Reacting to the development, Lloyd, in an interview with Punch, dismissed Basiru’s remarks as politically motivated and lacking merit.
“He wasn’t the one who appointed the Minister of the FCT, and cannot ask him to resign. I wish he could have said so before the 2023 elections. I wonder how many votes he gave to the All Progressives Congress in the State of Osun,” Lloyd stated.
He went on to accuse Basiru of hypocrisy, suggesting that the APC scribe may have ulterior motives.
“You know, people forget easily. When they come to collect dollars, they forget where we are coming from. It’s normal, but I don’t want to believe that such a statement emanated from him. But it could be dollars, because for you to get the attention of the Governor of Rivers State, you must abuse Nyesom Wike,” he said.
He added, “He forgets how the person he is talking to now, who has become his friend overnight, emerged as governor.”
“Basiru Is A Busybody” — Wike Ally, Wodi Also commenting, a staunch ally of Wike, Chimelem Wodi, said Basiru lacked the authority to demand Wike’s resignation, arguing that only the President could make such a decision.
“He has no right to say what he has said because he is not even active in his party. So, he has no such powers and I think he is trying to incur the wrath of Rivers people and well-meaning citizens of the state who collectively backed the FCT Minister to represent them,” Wodi said.
He added that President Bola Tinubu continues to hold Wike in high regard and that the FCT Minister remains one of the administration’s top performers.
The FCT minister has not committed any crime, or whatsoever, that will make Mr President disqualify him. Mr President has on several occasions said the FCT Minister is a good man and a performer. Today, if you are talking about the best minister so far in terms of performance, Wike has done very well. So, I think the APC secretary is just a busybody,” he added.

SlavaUkraini: Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has indicated that he has parted ways politically with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, ahead of the 2027 elections.
Wike said he would personally support a candidate he can trust to succeed Fubara, stressing that he would not repeat what he described as the mistakes of the 2023 election.
The former Rivers State governor made the remarks while addressing his supporters over the weekend in Ahoada Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, previous agreements reached with the governor were allegedly violated, making further political cooperation impossible.
“We will not make the mistake we made in 2023,” Wike said, adding that no individual would dictate political decisions to him in Rivers State.
He also dismissed claims that recent political slogans and rallies would automatically secure an electoral ticket for any aspirant.
DAILY POST recalls that Governor Fubara recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Wike, however, clarified that his open support for President Bola Tinubu does not translate into automatic backing for Fubara’s re-election bid.
He reiterated his support for Tinubu, saying the president deserved a second term, citing what he described as Tinubu’s goodwill towards Rivers State, including his appointment as FCT minister.
Despite this, Wike maintained that political decisions in Rivers State would be guided strictly by trust and interests.
“So, if you like, shout on your mandate 50 times a day. It will not give you an automatic ticket. If you like, bring everybody, shout on your mandate that is not an automatic ticket.
"Politics is about interest,” he said, adding that he would support a candidate he can rely on and “sleep with his eyes closed.”

The National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Basiru, in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, said Fubara had the full support of the party for his re-election campaign.
“Nobody can frustrate any APC governor. Fubara, like other APC governors, is running the affairs of his state well, he added.
Congratulations in advance, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS Governor of Rivers State. Even if he never said this, do you think thar drvnk will actually take this ticket off Fubara if Tinubu is in support of Fubara? He should keep wailing from Local Governt to local government. The best he can do is to go and sponsor one guy in another party to give Fubara a long run. |
