It is very easy to say ''decentralise'', but the truth is, we have to define exactly WHAT we mean by to ''decentralise''. If it means every region owning the resources on its land 100%, or even 80%, then the only people that will benefit from that 'decentralisation', are the NIGER DELTA people, for obvious reasons. The rest of Nigeria, especially if we ''decentralise fast'' as Soyinka suggested, will simply STARVE and descend into ANARCHY. From Igboland to Yorubaland to Hausaland, Edo, Tiv, Kanuri etc etc. NONE will be exempt, because NONE have the resources ready to replace that monthly oil income being shared by FG to the states. Soyinka had better be careful about what he is demanding. Because when that monthly allocation to his state from Abuja suddenly stops, leading to hunger and crime everywhere, boys will look for rich peoples' houses like his own to pay a visit, even if as we know, he lives in a forest. They will still find him. |
Sipsum:It sure is. You see, we have this misconception in Nigeria that we are a VERY RICH COUNTRY, which, if only the leaders did not steal, would be as developed as the likes of Germany, USA, Holland, France, UK etc. I mean, it is the very height of self delusion. The poorest of those countries has an annual budget not less than 1 TRILLION dollars. The USA leads, with an annual budget of 6.7 trillion dollars. Nigeria's is 35 billion dollars. Meaning we have not even started as far as generating wealth is concerned. Even if we were to be ruled by saints direct from heaven, we would still NOT be as developed as those countries in the next 70 years. We do not have anything like their wealth. These are countries that have been accumulating wealth for UP TO 5 CENTURIES or more, non-stop, through various means, including outright theft and brigandage, when our people were still in the pre-industrial era, engaged in subsistence farming and artisanship. We are just ONE generation removed from a population of illiterate village peasants under colonial subjugation, and yet we think we should be as advanced as France and Germany, which have produced multiple generations of highly educated citizens for several centuries! Why? because we found a bit of oil, the reserves of which are far lower than those of UAE, with just 9 million people. We are utterly deluded as a people. It is why we are so disgruntled. The key to our development is to just forget about that oil and get busy in multiple ventures both on a public and on a personal level, and hope that in about 50 or 60 years, we would have made some sort of headway, which our grandkids may enjoy. |
Mangekyo:Jack Dorsey's black slave. He must be getting a lot of joy off your slave lips on his mojo. Twitter is currently unprofitable, with a very high debt to equity ratio of 67%. https://simplywall.st/stocks/us/media/nyse-twtr/twitter |
temptnow:Sorry, but i'm not inclined to exchange words with dumb, ignorant, low IQ degenerates, school dropouts, and semi-literate mental midgets like you this morning. Bye. |
Grayoso:They simply don't get it. I don't know if their problem is low IQ or what. But the things you are explaining, you shouldn't HAVE to explain it to reasonably aware adults with even moderate intelligence. |
smh |
Grayoso:Bro, I honestly think these folks are beyond help. Their heads are so up the asses of white people, it would take a CRANE to extricate them. |
Monogamy:Development takes countless DECADES, even up to a CENTURY OR MORE OF INDEPENDENCE, unless you are 'lucky' enough to be: 1: A tiny gulf state of 2 million people with gazillion amounts of crude oil, like Kuwait or UAE. 2: You happen to be one of the 4 Asian Tigers which were deliberately selected by the west for technology transfer, free western market access for their finished goods, and heavy funding/easy term credit facilities, all done to create capitalist bulwarks to checkmate rampaging Soviet communism in Asia Pacific after WW2. 3: A 'China', which imposed brutal, communist military dictatorship, which banned ALL IMPORTS for 30 years, forcing the people to be self-reliant at gun point, and ride in bicycles till they developed indigenous technology to build their own vehicles, etc. A policy that led to brutal crackdowns on dissent, numerous extra-judicial killings, and thousands (if not millions) of political prisoners, and a ban on free speech and political association which continues to this day. If you are not in any of those groupings, you are either a developed western country (and we know how THEY got developed, via invasion, enslavement, and colonisation of other regions, and looting of their resources). Or you are a struggling developing nation, JUST LIKE NIGERIA. In this last group, 80% of the world's nations are in. |
Monogamy:If you are talking about non-oil income, as a result of diversification, it continues to go UP and UP. We are doing well in diversification of income sources. ''The federally collected revenues in Nigeria include oil and non-oil incomes. The oil revenue comprises Oil pipeline license fees, Royalty on the extraction of oil; Rent of oil well and grounds; Sale of petroleum and gas; Penalty for gas flaring. The non-oil revenue includes personal income tax; company’s income tax; capital gains tax; withholding tax and all for forms of indirect taxes (ATSWA, 2009). The non-oil revenue is more integrated into tax revenue sources. In the last four years, non-oil income in Nigeria has been progressive. It increased from N2, 693.9 Billion in 2016 to N5, 536.66 Billion in 2019 (CBN Statistical Bulletin, 2019). In 2019, non-oil revenue composition was Value Added Tax 25.1%, Customs and Excise Duties 17.9%, Corporate Tax 35.7%, Federal Government Independent Revenue 10.9% and forms of taxes 11.1% (CBN Annual Report, 2019). The progressive report is a piece of evidence that tax revenue is very pivotal in driving an economy, especially an emerging market.'' https://www.abacademies.org/articles/oilandnonoilrevenuesassessmentofcontributionstoinfrastructuraldevelopmentinnigeria-9934.html |
Monogamy:Roughly 35 billion dollars a year, which is our annual budget. So we have earned 160 to 180 billion dollars in the last 6 years, most of which came from crude oil sales. |
Monogamy:50 billion dollars over a 6 year period is PEANUTS for a country of Nigeria's size and population, just coming out of a recession. What ''tangible things'' are you expecting to see with such a TINY amount? Do you know how much Nigeria spends just to pay civil servant salaries in a month, talk less of one year? |
Monogamy:In 2015 our debt was around 25 billion USD. THE key thing is that Nigeria's DEBT TO GDP RATIO IS STILL VERY LOW - AT 34%. It is Debt to GDP ratio that international finance looks at when deciding if a country has the ability to repay its debt. The higher the ratio, the less able it is considered to repay it. The lower the ratio, the more able it is to repay debts. At 34%, Nigeria is at that sweet spot that makes her VERY CREDIT WORTHY INDEED. We have managed our finances well as a nation. Here is a list of nations by DEBT TO GDP RATIO. As you can see, Nigeria is VERY WELL PLACED at 34%, unlike the likes of USA with 108% debt to GDP ratio, Ghana with 78%, or (Lord Almighty), Venezuela with 350% https://tradingeconomics.com/country-list/government-debt-to-gdp |
Monogamy:Sure. If you insist. As of December 2020, the most recent official data available, Nigeria's public debt was $86.3 billion, of which ONLY 3.3 billion dollars is owed to CHINA. https://qz.com/africa/1994765/how-much-debt-does-nigeria-owe-china/ So in terms of debt, Nigeria is pretty much OKAY. We haven't over-borrowed by any stretch of the imagination. In fact many economists would say we are under-borrowed as a nation, and probably should take on a bit more debt to improve our international credit profile and standing. |
Monogamy:No, but I can show you America's debt. 28.19 trillion U.S. dollars MOSTLY TO CHINA. ''In May 2021, the public debt of the United States was around 28.19 trillion U.S. dollars, over 2.4 trillion more than a year earlier, when it was around 2.7 trillion U.S. dollars.'' The day America CRASHES, the whole world will reverberate with the sound, and numerous American analysts have predicted that that day is not too far in the future. That will be one less white country to ass-kiss for y'all slaves. https://www.worldometers.info/us-debt-clock/ |
Mangekyo:You are not IPOB. Just a black slave who thinks he gains something by playing happy smiley black bodyguard for his white massa who wouldn't hesitate to kick your black butt to the kerb if you came within a mile of his premises. SHAMELESS UNCLE TOM. MISEDUCATED HOUSE NEGRO & COON SAT BY WHITEY'S FEET FOR CRUMBS. YOUR TYPE ARE DISGUSTING. First off, no one said Twitter's debt was due to the Nigeria ban. That would be silly. SECONDLY, you claimed it was a ''Fulani website'' showing you are just a wastrel. Then you posted Twitter's 'net worth' showing you haven't a clue what DEBT means. THIRDLY you showed your foolishness by saying ''it was 2020 debt''. You should be glad I posted 2020 figures. Here are 2021 debt figures for twitter. Twitter long term debt for the quarter ending March 31, 2021 was $4.246B, a 24.95% increase year-over-year. Twitter long term debt for 2020 was $2.569B, a 2.39% increase from 2019. Twitter long term debt for 2019 was $2.509B, a 42.93% increase from 2018. Twitter long term debt for 2018 was $1.755B, a 2.72% increase from 2017. https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/TWTR/twitter/long-term-debt I'm sure you will call Macrotrends a 'Fulani website'. Dumb and dumber. |
Mangekyo:When we say go to school you will not go. What has net worth got to do with DEBT for goodness sakes? ILLITERATE. Now return to your spare parts shop and stop embarrassing your fellow Igbos online with your ILLITERACY and dumbness. |
Mangekyo:Slave crook. None of your links addresses Twitter DEBT. That doesn't mean they have no debt, just because the websites you posted don't mention it. And benzinga.com is an American financial services website, not a 'Fulani website', you pathetic illiterate dunce. https://www.benzinga.com/news/21/01/19140291/how-does-twitters-debt-look |
zhuche:It is that oil producing part of Nigeria which accounts for 95% of Nigeria's oil deposits, and which you Igbos will NEVER EVER be allowed to steal and corner for yourselves under the guise of 'self determination'. THIEVES. |
Jashub:The fact that millions of you Igbos are settled in the same north you are bashing shows your words are those of an Igbo prostitute who claims to be a virgin, but fcks 200 Fulanis a day! In fact Fulani herdsmen have smashed that Igbo pussy up north so much, it's not even funny... So YOU KEEP TALKING while THEY keep smashing, a'ight? |
''Based on Twitter's balance sheet as of October 30, 2020, long-term debt is at $2.55 billion and current debt is at $908.61 million, amounting to $3.46 billion in total debt.'' https://www.benzinga.com/news/21/01/19140291/how-does-twitters-debt-look No wonder Jack Dorsey, Twitter owner, posted THREE Nigerian flags on his page a couple days ago. Anything to please Nigerian officials. Buhari, abeg pity am nau.... Sorry, I'm just joking your Excellency. No pity whatsoever for Jack. . . UPDATE: (The 2021 figure of $4.3 billion can be found later down the thread) . . . Mods: Make this Front page naauuu.......If it was anti-Nigerian or anti-Buhari news you would quickly send it there. ![]() . . |
Mangekyo:DUMBO, HERE IS INFO ON TWITTER'S HUGE DEBT: ''Based on Twitter's balance sheet as of October 30, 2020, long-term debt is at $2.55 billion and current debt is at $908.61 million, amounting to $3.46 billion in total debt.'' https://www.benzinga.com/news/21/01/19140291/how-does-twitters-debt-look Plus Buhari has no business being as personally rich as Jack Dorsey. He is not a corrupt leader. But he controls Africa's largest economy with an annual GDP of 1.16 TRILLION dollars calculated by Purchasing Power Parity, PPP. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Nigeria So, Jack Dorsey is a NOBODY compared to President Muhammadu Buhari, and twitter is a NON-ENTITY compared to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Now run along and go give Jack his blow, slaveboy. |
tensazangetsu20:AHH! Whenever your spiteful put-downs of Nigerians are hurled back in your dirty faces, you accuse us of ''hating Igbos''. You are like children. Damn narcissists. |
redsun:Dude, the United States is the largest consumer of beef in the world, followed by China and Brazil. Their life expectancy is: USA: 79 years China: 77 years Brazil: 76 years NUFF SAID!! |
Jashub:FUNNY HOW IGBOS, WHO HAVE SETTLED ALL OVER NIGERIA IN THEIR millions, refusing to return home, TALK ABOUT OTHER ETHNIC GROUPS AS ''leeches who depend on other tribes''. You guys must have been born with your brains upside down. |
Mangekyo:First off, you air head, Twitter made a profit of just 1.2 billion dollars last year, and are deep in debt, so they can barely buy hamburgers for their staff, talk less of buying Buhari and Africa's largest economy. 2nd, only a few die-hard twitter addicts bother to go through the VPN route, which is why Twitter usage in Nigeria has FALLEN DRAMATICALLY NATIONWIDE. 3rd, Twitter has made so many overtures to the Nigerian govt to rescind the ban, you would need to be living under a rock not to notice. Just 3 days ago, the mumu Jack Dorsey posted THREE Nigerian flags on his page. Not one. THREE. HE KNOWS he is FCKED without NIGERIA - Africa's largest internet ecosystem. NOW RUN ALONG, SLAVE BOY, AND GO SUCK HIS NUTS. MIGHT MAKE HIM FEEL A LITTLE RELEVANT. |
Rugaria:The day Nairaland follows Twitter, and allows violent secessionists, murderers, and traitors to post on its forum, while banning or deleting PRO-NIGERIAN posts, Nairaland will also be BANNED. And if you can't stand that, go jump in a fcking river! |
Mangekyo:SHUT UP. Twitter usage in Nigeria has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY despite VPN, which is why Jack Dorsey's folks are CRAWLING to Abuja to beg Buhari! |
redsun:ABSOLUTE NONSENSE. Beef is a vital source of PROTEIN, without which millions of NIGERIANS who depend on it for their diet would perish. Beef also provides IRON and four essential vitamins - niacin, riboflavin, vitamins B6 and B12. So long as it is eaten in moderation, beef is JUST FINE and EXCELLENT for your health. |
. . TRANSLATION: WITHOUT THE FULANI HERDSMEN YOU HATE SO MUCH, YOU WOULD ALL PERISH FROM HUNGER, MALNUTRITION AND STARVATION!!!! . . |
Nigerians Account For HALF Of All Beef Consumed In West Africa - Thanks To Fulani Herdsmen Lagos (AFP) - With over 200 million people and an emerging middle class, Nigeria is witnessing a boom in demand for meat that offers potential but also risks for the semi-nomadic herders who provide most of its beef. According to government estimates, Nigeria consumes 360,000 tonnes of beef each year, accounting for half of all West Africa. In per-capita terms, consumption is low compared with advanced economies, but it is growing fast, and expected to quadruple by 2050. Today, most of the demand is met by pastoralists from the ethnic Fulani group, who follow time-honoured techniques of raising cattle, driving them south to pastures and taking them to market. During the dry season, the herders come down from the arid Sahel to the fertile plains of central and southern Nigeria, seeking water and pasture for their livestock. https://news.yahoo.com/hunger-beef-offers-rewards-risks-nigerias-pastoralists-042619014.html |
