Wisdomkosi:Buhari says NO! |
Go somewhere else like FB or Instagram. If you don't use Twitter heaven will not fall. |
Funny how Twitter plays good boy with the small, inconsequential developing countries like Ghana and co, but sees the rising, developing giants like India and Nigeria, as enemies to fight with. The westerners don't want the darkies to be too powerful, just small, smiley and compliant. Kiss teeth. |
twosquare:Is it the Guinea Bissau or Malawi replica that you wish to become that will not be impoverished? At least in NIGERIA you always have a chance of making it, with its huge market, large middle class and buying power. |
odduduwa:If there'll be no Nigeria by year's end, what will you do without Nairaland? |
drealcivilceno:Sadly so, bro. Hopefully, enough understand it to not let the foolishness of splintering occur. |
RagaMufeen:You're a joker. If you really think foreign investors will shun Nigeria because of TWITTER, you have serious issues. https://wearesocial-net.s3.amazonaws.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2020/04/11-Social-Media-Platform-Ranking-DataReportal-20200422-Digital-2020-April-Global-Statshot-Report-Slide-44.png |
Jashub:What consequences? Only Twitter is suffering any consequences in all this by losing their biggest African market and ecosystem. |
Why Facebook, Twitter, Instagram could be banned in India from tomorrow?https://www.businesstoday.in/technology/news/why-facebook-twitter-instagram-could-be-banned-in-india-from-tomorrow/story/439972.html
|
You thought Buhari was joking when he said he will ban them? |
zeuss:Being a democracy does not make us a mumu country that Twitter can insult anyhow, sorry. |
finalboss:iT IS RELEVANT BECAUSE IT SHOWS NOT EVERYONE FALLS AT THE FEET OF THESE WESTERN CORPORATE GIANTS LIKE YOU NIGERIAN SLAVES. |

YAWN.... OP.....WE KNEW ABOUT VPN BEFORE YOU WERE BORN. THE THING WITH VPN IS VERY FEW WILL OPEN THEIR VPN BROWSER JUST TO GO ON TWITTER. ONLY SOME HARDCORE TWITTER FOLKS CARE ENOUGH TO DO ALL THAT. SO IT IS A BIG BLOW FOR TWITTER TO LOSE THER BIGGEST MARKET IN AFRICA. |
People wey get sense, unlike Nigerian slaves. |
gidgiddy:What is ''dangerous, divisive'' about a govt statement saying that those causing violence and killings will be stopped? I THINK YOU'RE A LUNATIC. YOU AND THE IDIOTS THAT RUN TWITTER. No, We shall not be ruled by disorder and secessionist violence, and if that is what you and Twitter want for Nigeria, you're not getting it! Comprende? |
omonnakoda:VERY WELL SAID. You are a smart guy. |
CilicMarin:They have no choice. That is the power of NIGERIA, which some visionless, thoughtless, tribalistic dunderheads want to break up into little geographical irrelevancies. |
FarahAideed:Garbage. Twitter stocks have been rising regardless of events in Nigeria, and rose 3.4% in the last 12 hours alone as well. So it's absolutely nothing to do with Nigeria. What shareholders are concerned with is the impact of the ban on long-term strategic gains, and being excluded from Nigeria, Africa's biggest internet market and ecosystem, is not regarded as a good sign. |
In a way, this Nigerian ban of Twitter exemplifies the VERY REASON WHY NIGERIA MUST NOT BREAK UP. I mean.....the very audacity of it is heartwarming. ![]() Tell me something. How many countries in Africa can even DARE to contemplate such a thing? Challenging such a major international corporate giant? Banning them? Very few. Maybe South Africa, Egypt, finish. AND NIGERIA. The twitter ban is a VERY BIG DEAL for Twitter. They are not happy about it one bit. Their shareholders are not smiling, and privately see it as a fiasco by the executives. See, Twitter has a reported '2 million' Nigerian users. The likelier figure is 10 to 15 million. Not just that, but Nigeria is projected to become the 3rd most populous nation on Earth after India and China by 2050. No big firm in their right mind wants to be excluded from the Nigerian market going forward. So Twitter are very unhappy about this ban. See, we could not say these things about your little 'Biafra', 'Oduduwa', 'Arewa', 'Niger Delta' etc new republics you want to replace Nigeria with. You would each become like Sierra Leone. Togo. Burkina Faso. Guinea. Ignored by the world, and bullied by the likes of France. Could your tiny countries DARE to ban Twitter? Nahhh... They'd be your absolute LORDS. But today, as Nigeria, you sneeze, and the whole world catches a cold including Twitter. What a great fall it would be, your disintegration. Today, Twitter has issued a statement saying they are ''deeply concerned'' that Nigeria has banned them. I'm pretty sure they are making overtures to the Nigerian govt to reverse the ban. If Oduduwa republic or Biafra republic bans Twitter, do you think Twitter would even notice, much less issue a statement? Who dash una? Listen up, African. The ONLY thing that makes you relevant in today's busy world is that name, NIGERIA. Africa's biggest economy. Africa's most populous nation of 210 million people. Giant of Africa. Continental powerhouse. Geopolitical behemoth. Lose that, and you become ..NOTHING. |
DubaiLandLord:I have to admit it feels good to see them squirm in their seats. ![]() |

WoundedLamb:Your problem is that you are seeing it as a personal beef between Buhari and Twitter. Buhari is acting in his capacity as President, by saying that you cannot operate in our space if you allow secessionists and anarchists to post destabilizing messages on your platform, while disallowing Nigerian authorities from making posts threatening repercussions for breakdown of law and order. If the country descends into warfare, will Twitter executives come and fight the war? No. They will be enjoying on their private yachts in the Caribbean. So Buhari is only protecting his country from descent into anarchy and disintegration. That's his job. |
When Will Twitter Ban Nnamdi Kanu's Hate Speech? Hate Speech Monger - Nnamdi Kanu https://247newsaroundtheworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/why-i-dont-heavily-criticise-boko-haram-nnamdi-kanu.jpg This man posts all sorts of vitriolic, abusive, threatening messages against Nigeria and the Nigerian government, including highly tribalistic smears, and blood-curdling commands to his followers, to kill and maim innocent Nigerians, including law enforcement agents. BUT NOT FOR ONE DAY have I heard that Twitter cautioned him, or warned him against such dangerous use of the platform. And then the Nigerian president uses the same twitter to warn troublemakers of repercussions, and HE gets his posts deleted by twitter. I mean, WHAT CLEARER CASE OF BIAS IS THERE THAN THAT? If I were Buhari, I would do the EXACT SAME THING, and ban them from operating in the Nigerian space. Oh sure, some people can use VPN, but research shows that most peeps won't bother if they have to go to that extent. So WELL DONE Mr President. |
Luigi02:To hell with Twitter's ''terms and conditions''. Slaveboy to twitter. They are supporting insurrection and anarchy in your country, and like a brainless dunce, you support them. Tell me, when Nigeria descends into war, where will twitter president Jack whatever-his-name-is, be? On his private yacht in the Caribbean perhaps? Certainly not in refugee tents getting food aid from the Red Cross like you and your family members. |
lamentor78:Idiot, do you think it took 5 years to ''develop China''? Do you even know how many people were killed and jailed, with no democracy allowed till today, no elections, no free speech etc, and ruled by brutal dictatorship, which enabled China to ban all imported goods for 30 years to force development. Can you tolerate that in Nigeria so that you can be like China in 30 years time? If not then shut up, because that is what China did! |
