BabaOwen:
If the Chadian president was the one that has been ruling Nigeria since 2015, boko haram/ISWAP might have been a thing of the past. Buhari and business men like buratai posing as Generals are a disaster.
Even though they have been residing in the Chad part of Lake Chad for years? SMH.

How can someone say a drone is a multi-role platform for an air asset ? In what form and how is it multi-role !
Do you really know what the term “multi-role” means ; some people can make you laugh and crazy at the same time grin
I tire o!. Multi-role in the proper sense means it can carry out CAP, CAS, Strike, Interdiction, Intercept, surveillance missions (air to air and air to ground missions) when asked to do so when on a sortie. It can change roles while on a mission.

No specifics were mentioned. They are not happy about the drones, but we don't know why. Could you go to Jordan and ask them. We will contribute money for visa smiley

In any case, the drone we are talking about came out in 2016. This is 2020 and since then China has gained a lot of experience and expertise building drones. Newer versions of that drone are available.

By the way, since you are committed to showing that Chinese drones are faulty, why not provide links to the unreliability of the American Scan Eagle drone. Yes, the one mentioned in the first article.
You mean like the way you guys went all out to say the Tucano was a bad idea, or looking for all the negatives in the fight against terrorism in the NE or only seeing the good with Chad? Should I go on?

The Jordanians are just being diplomatic. The CH-4 won't last before it starts being maintenance intensive etc.

As I first stated, you get what you pay for. Chinese drones are not yet mature. Better to wait for improvements or continue to develop your own.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by rka2: 2:23pm On Apr 18, 2020
GabrielYulaw:
Indeed you do. The article says Jordan and Iraq are having difficulties maintaining their Chinese drones. It doesn't say the drones are maintenance intensive, nor does it say they are crap.

Jordan is selling it's drones mainly because it wants to buy American ones for their better sensors. As for Iraq, I guess they didn't sign a maintenance contact or something with the Chinese. But like I said, the article never stayed Chinese drones are crap or require an unusual amount of maintenance. The article also said the American Sca eagle drone is problematic.

Worth remembering is that China has sold a lot of these drones to a lot of countries. Why is only Jordan and Iraq complaining? And complaining not about sensor or weapons effectiveness, but about maintenance.

I would take a $1-2 million Chinese drone over a Reaper drone costing many times that. For the cost, they are unbeatable.

So, it is no longer SU-25 that is the game changer? Let's just change tact now to a MALE drone that everyone here has been calling for for a long time to complement the Tucano and other assets , Kai! grin

Moody set to host Nigerian AF training

23d Wing Public Affairs / Published April 16, 2020

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. --

Air Force officials announced April 10 that Moody Air Force Base will host a stateside mission to train Nigerian Air Force pilots and maintenance personnel on the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft.

This temporary program will fall under the 81st Fighter Squadron, an existing A-29 Light Air Support training squadron that currently trains Afghan Air Force personnel. This program will ensure the Nigerian Air Force receives the support and training it needs to safely and effectively employ the A-29 aircraft.

A-29 training has been conducted at Moody for the Afghan Air Force since 2014. Mirroring training for Afghan partners, U.S. Air Force advisors will provide flying, aircraft maintenance, and ground training device instructors and operators to support training of the Nigerian forces.

The new mission is anticipated to bring approximately 100 additional personnel to Moody, including Nigerian military, civilians and contractors required to support training on 12 aircraft. The program will train an initial cadre of Nigerian personnel, to include both maintenance personnel and pilots, who will become instructors.

The additional A-29 aircraft, procured by the Nigerian government, will in turn train additional personnel on this weapons system to conduct offensive and defensive fires operations and reconnaissance and surveillance operations throughout Nigeria to combat terrorism.

Under current plans, the aircraft may begin to arrive at Moody AFB in the summer of 2020 and the unit is planned to become fully operational in the winter of 2021.

Okay, Nigerian Armed Forces are useless. Everybody else in Afirca is better than us. Can we have some peace now?

"The reports which also showed the capturing of Boko Haram armoury by the Chadian military, according to the embassy, were misleading videos and images dating back to 2015."

What a surprise. Not. There really are so many enemies of Nigeria. smh

As this Chad nonsense won't stop, I would like to point out that no other country would have survived BH/ISWAP in West Africa and environs the way Nigeria has without outside help. Where would Chad, Mali, Niger, Burkina-Faso etc. be without France & the US? Probably safe havens for jihadists.

Nigeria is where the insurgency started and the country has been fighting on multiple fronts for years. Chad was saved by the French Airforce when rebels where advancing from the North not too long ago.

BH has been attacking Nigeria from Chad as well and running back to their islands for years, but Chad did nothing. They can afford to carry out one operation to clear their islands but they are not like Nigeria that has to continually fight, as I have said, from multiple fronts. Even when Chad came into Nigeria in that 2014 period onwards, they were there for a specific mission before returning to Chad. NA would have been superstars if all they had to do from time to time is assist another country for a specific raid and then return to Nigeria.

There are many people on this forum who believe they know better than people who have been fighting for years and know the limitations that exist.

For many years Nigerians were complaining we don't make military hardware and criticised what was bought. The country decided to invest in its defence industry to start producing MRAPS etc. Next thing it is, we are not buying what we need from Russia etc or not buying second hand stuff from whatever country even though in the past, it has been a disaster without any maintenance agreements or spare parts.

Now the country in buying from China government to government through an open tendering process and the narrative changes to we are not buying the right equipment. As if you know better than the people that need the equipment and requested for it.

I tire for una. I have never seen a country that hates its military the way some Nigerians do. The closest I have come to seeing this is with the Scottish Nationalists. When will people learn that the national interest is above what political party you support, religion you follow, tribe you come from etc. I know some people won't agree with this because they think things will be different if every state or local government is a country. You forget that they will also be occupied by the same people, ex Nigerians.

There are things that are wrong, yes, but do you think joining the narrative to paint your country in a bad light will further whatever cause you think you have.

Is Nigeria getting weapons to fight bokoharam or modernising it's arsenal because this is unfair to bokoharam gun trucks cheesy
The only advantage this has over rpg 28 is range and accuracy. The rpg 28 has same armour penetration and significantly cheaper.
It is really commendable and would help taking out technicals kilometers away.
It appears to be a combination of both and much needed.
