kabe1:
Sir, how many Lynx helicopters are they expecting?

Oga Henry shared a photo of navy personnel in Airbus helicopter plant last year, is the navy not buying from Airbus again?

Why is the navy buying from Italy and England and France all at the same time?
I wish I knew how many or whether it is the old navy lynx helos being refurbished or ex Royal Navy helos being purchased. The navy are not as open as the NAF these days. They could be purchasing a combination of Dauphin helos, AW135s and Lynxes.

I am not sure of the source country or type of drone at this stage, but it will all become apparent soon wink although drones are already in use to monitor oil pipelines etc.

A possibility is a camcopter for the expected drone(s).

It is what one calls beyond economic repair. As already said, what survived will be used as spare parts.

It will happen someday. They must get sense by force.

Imagine putting all those deadly weapons within the reach of those deadly criminals, such a very stupid thing to do.
You do know that the magazines are detached from the rifles and are emptied before being put on display? Only loose rounds are on display.

There are also armed officers in the background.

cheesy lack of capacity on Pakistan's part. I don't know why they want to sell to foreign countries when they haven't been able to ramp up production.

NAF should just go for the MIG 35.

Looks like we have a bit longer to wait for JF-17.

“We have made substantial progress in terms of acquiring the JF-17 (Thunder) fighter aircraft from Pakistan and I believe that very soon our officers and men will move to Pakistan for training while the production of the aircraft is ongoing.”

Most of them are not serviceable now
Most are not serviceable because when defence equipment is purchased, you should also have a separate maintenance contract for said equipment from the manufacturer or agent and a ready supply of spare parts. That is the proper way to buy equipment. Look at Morocco, for example, they have a maintenance contract for their F16s.
Thankfully, the Tucano deal also includes an initial maintenance contract I believe.

News is 3 years old. One of the AW101 flipped over in Markurdi sometime back when taxiing to the hanger. Look at the comments in the article, they are dated 3 years ago.

The writer obviously meant JF-17.

We are jointly producing  JF 70 with China…It’s a joint venture but we are manufacturing.. Now I have more than 100 aircraft that are flying.
“The JF 70 is a battle hardened aircraft…You as Nigerians should be very satisfied to have these aircraft flying  in the coming days,  and that is what we look forward to as we cooperate with our Nigerian brothers and sisters so that that aircraft come for the defence of Nigeria, and it will be a very important platform and state of the art aircraft and that is one of the biggest collaborations that we have at this time,” Khan said.

Nigeria is NOT going to buy SU 57. What are security planners are aiming for is American F16s. They will make a play for Russian jets and wait. They know there is an amateurish transactional guy in the White House who thinks himself 'smart'. He will hear at some briefing that Russians are selling SU 57 to Nigeria and will just blurt out against all complicated strategic considerations why the US are not competing and pow F16Vs are coming Naijas way
It is a possibility or the Ambassador meant SU-30 or 35. Unless he is ex military, most of these representatives are quite ignorant of military matters.

What will most probably happen is, we will keep on hoping and waiting, most likely in vain.

SU-57 with which budget and under what agreement? When just three JF-17s from Pakistan is taking eternity to arrive due to budget limitations and unseriousness. I want to believe this is just Russian propaganda to drive the notion that many countries are now getting interested in the SU-57, or otherwise, a slip of tongue by our Prof Ugbah grin

No be only SU-57, why not typhoon? cheesy
There have just been too many false Dawns. National assembly members nearly had coronaries with the Super Tucano purchase, what do you think would happen to them if they used excess crude 'oyel' account for the Russian purchases cheesy

Oh boy, make una come see o!

"Nigeria discusses with Russia the possibility to purchase its Su-57 fighters and is also interested in Russian helicopters, tanks and intelligence equipment, Steve Davies Ugbah said.

"You also mentioned Su-57 fighters, negotiations are also underway on them. But sanctions against Russia do not help this cause, as you can imagine. Russia is a reliable partner that always fulfills its obligations," Ugbah said."

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany --

The 4th Combat Training Squadron assigned to the Warrior Preparation Center at Einsiedlerhof Air Station, Germany, hosted Nigerian and Tunisian service members for the first iteration of a new two-week course, Sept. 9-20.

The Africans participated in the first Air to Ground Integration Course as part of a $300 million congressionally approved funding program. The course develops air to ground integration capabilities with African nation partners.

“Air to Ground integration is the coordinated air attack by fixed wing and rotary aircraft against hostile targets,” said Capt. Matthew Roberts, 4th CTS chief of plans and programs.

The United States is committed to partnering with African countries to address compatible strategic security objectives, added Staff Sgt. Roger Frederick, 4th CTS tactical air party craftsman.

Those objectives include combating destabilizing issues and violent extremist activities which could threaten regional security, Frederick continued.

“A course like this is important for interoperability,” said Roberts. “We need to be able to deploy air power forward across any continent with any of our partners and conduct the same operational and training possibilities downrange.”

The course consisted of a week of classroom studies, a week of simulator training, and a capstone event where airmen controlled aircraft on a range.

U.S. Air Forces Africa acts as a reliable military partner in Africa. They seek to be the security partner of choice by working with partnered security forces based on their operational needs, Frederick said.

“This course actually provides two-way learning,” Frederick said. “I know have a better understanding of how Nigeria employs their air force and it’s opened up perspective on how they integrate. I can take the lessons they’ve taught me and apply it to future scenarios.”

AFAFRICA conducts multilateral and mil-to-mil engagements and security assistance with African air forces in order to build aviation capacities, enhance regional cooperation, and increase interoperability.
