kabe1: Is the ship owned by NIMASA or the Nigerian navy? Not the Navy, although manned by them. Probably NIMASA. I like the paint job. It is just Coastguard markings but in green. |

This is the Philippines navy.
Nigeria also considered this ship from Indonesia. Don't worry, we will also get an LPD down the line. Let me quickly exit before I am descended on |

Toju200: To be sincere I still don't get.Who are the owners of the vessel Navy or private security. This was the entry on the company's website: "Lagos, 13/12/2019 – The first ever hybrid special mission vessel DB Abuja has successfully arrived in Nigeria. A delegation of navy and other government officials has welcomed the vessel. Both Shipyard De Hoop and owner Blue Octagon are proud of this important milestone in the Deep Blue development project."As far as I know, a combined army and navy maritime response team is being trained by a private Israeli company and are currently in the advanced course stage to be concluded in April next year with over 300 personnel. There is also a command centre staffed by NIMASA, NN, NA and Maritime Police I believe. See link. https://www.nimasa.gov.ng/press-center/post/deep-blue-project-commences-operation |

jln115: What LPD bro? The Nigerian Navy bought an LST!! Which cost around $80 mil...... An LPD would cost upwards of $300 mil.... Same as a frigate! Not saying Nigeria is not getting a Frigate but I've known about the LST contract since April already so it's not news to me, thus once i see a contract for a Frigate then i will believe it.....but nothing is ordered in secret anymore! Oops! I meant LST. You don't seem to get my drft, but it is alright. We all knew about the LST for years before it was ordered and I am saying the same for the Frigate. It may well be in the 2021 budget you will start to see it appearing. All I am trying to say is that there may well already be an agreement in place, hence the model and a concrete order will follow if not done already. There are non- disclosure clauses still in existence for initial orders before being fully disclosed well into construction or when on sea trials or even test flying as is the case with aircraft orders with some countries. |

jln115: Quitetly ordered a $300 million + Frigate........ Yeah Nah!!! It will eventually be made known well into construction just like the LPD. We knew they were planning to buy a LPD but didn't know construction had started until the keel was laid. So it will be with the Frigate. We know they are planning one, so............. for ever the optimist Remember, it isn't Damen marketing it by giving it to the CNS, but the CNS presenting it to a Governor. He wouldn't do that with a product Nigeria doesn't own or intend to own. |

Is it just me or does anyone else see the similarities between the Frigate model presented to the Governor of Kogi State by the CNS during the commissioning of NNS Jubilee and the Damen Air Defence and Command Frigate?
The hull shape is identical and of course the CMS and radar masts are a bit different depending on what systems you require.
I wont be surprised if the NN has quietly ordered the Frigate.

Jimi24: That company is an electronic manufacturing company. The best we can get is assembly plants for battlefield radios, maybe some EO field surveillance equipment and maybe ground radars. They were not even speaking along the same direction if you read it well It is still a production line and military equipment purchase plan. |

Xbee007: No, it's not only terrorism based, it's Standard Practice world over. Pilots are supposed to perform crucial checklists before takeoff. When there is an intrusion at this moment, pilots may inadvertently skip crucial checklists that may end in disaster. I have seen enough of the show "Air Crash Investigations" on National Geographic. I know what you are saying but nobody will allow intrusion into the cockpit during flight checks. Unless the photos are digitally altered(which it looks like), they are in the middle of the flight, so there is no interference. Flt. Lt. Liman is the actual one taking the selfie. Alternatively, the picture was posed for before any pre-flight checks started or even after they had arrived at their destination. |

Xbee007: It is an intrusion capable of distracting pilots. Note that cockpit intrusion has been fingered in many aircraft crashes.
Just this month China banned three pilots for taking photograph with a passenger in the cockpit. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-50298522 The regulation is mostly terrorism based concerning access to cockpits, hence it was banned in commercial airlines. The only one I can recall that caused an accident was when a stupid Russian airline pilot allowed his young son to take control of the plane and caused an irrecoverable descent that killed everyone onboard. Most airlines fly on auto pilot anyway, and indeed that airforce Falcon was probably also. |

WARTHUNDER: Bruz, is it confusion, FG mis-info, bad reporting or journalist error? Airbus officially announced on Janes IHS Defence 2017 that our NN is buying 3 of its AS-565 MBe Panther multi-role naval-coast guard helicopters for ship borne ops. Lynx is no longer in production, only 2 of our old Lynx remain dead in storage, one Lynx was burnt in fire mishap beyond repair. Only Super Lynx variant is in production, so we getting Panther or Lynx? FG messed up info to press, and their incompetent reporting of a whole $ 1 billion transaction is reason PDP hammered them accusing sat one billion dollars oil money waka wit leg enter voicemail Our defence info is never really clean and clear to the public. Bro, we will have to wait and see. Countries are now buying the WildCat helicopter, which replaced the Lynx. I blame the navy for not stating, like the NAF, what type/make/model they are buying. It is then open to civil servants to spout anything they like. |
