adadike: The truth is that Yoruba elders are afraid of Tinubu, they won't support you. You are on your own. You can only achieve this secretly with the help of Yoruba big wigs but only if they will not betray you. Adadike, when will you show as much passion and interest in your igbo/SE regional issues the way you are always doing about Yoruba-related matters? Your obsession with connecting everything to Tinubu is very unhealthy, to say the least. A Catholic priest was murdered at Enugu very recently. A whole former Ambassador was also kidnapped from inside his own home at Enugu by Fulani herdsmen, yet you haven't said kpim (there's even a thread about it at the politics section which I am sure you've come across but shame no gree you to comment, yet you are on first page here commenting, where's your shame??). Some days ago it was also reported that an igbo labourer was almost hacked to death by herdsmen at Awka, Anambra. You are yet to hold Obiano, Ohanaeze, OUK, Peter Obi, Ugwuanyi and other igbo politicians to account for these incidences. Or is Tinubu the reason your own igbo elders are afraid too? Is Tinubu the cause of your problems in life. Woman, your likes need to get a life. |

https://www.reuters.com/article/uruguay-usa-travel/uruguay-issues-travel-warning-for-us-after-weekend-mass-shootings-idUSL2N2511OEMONTEVIDEO, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Uruguay on Monday issued a warning to its citizens traveling to the United States after two mass shootings over the weekend that killed 31 people in Texas and Ohio.
In a press release, the Foreign Ministry advised avoiding cities such as Detroit, Baltimore and Albuquerque, which it said are among the 20 most dangerous in the world, citing an index by CEOWORLD magazine.
Travelers are urged to take precautions “in the face of growing indiscriminate violence, mostly for hate crimes, including racism and discrimination, which cost the lives of more than 250 people in the first seven months of this year,” it said in the release also posted on President Tabare Vazquez’s website.
The U.S. State Department had issued its own travel advisory for Uruguay on Aug. 2 due to an increase in violent crime, including homicides, armed robberies and carjacking.
On Saturday, several Mexican citizens were among the 21 people killed at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas authorities said. Hours later, another gunman killed nine people in downtown Dayton, Ohio. (Reporting by Fabian Werner; Writing by Cassandra Garrison; Editing by Richard Chang) Mynd44 |

Nsukka—Nathaniel Ayogu, younger brother of Enugu State’s former Commissioner for Environment, Ambassador Fidel Ayogu, has recounted his ordeal in the hands of herdsmen.
Nathaniel, who rejoined his family on Friday after he was freed by kidnappers, said he trekked on barefoot for three days in the bush without food or water. He spoke to Vanguard at his country home, Egu Ego Umuopu, in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the state yesterday, adding that he was tied to a tree and abandoned each time it rained, while his abductors covered themselves with waterproof materials.
Nathaniel said one of the gunmen told him that he joined kidnapping business to fend for himself, as his late father’s cattle were shared when he was still a teenager without him getting any, a situation which the gunman said exposed him to economic hardship.
However, while he has reunited with his family, his friend, late Job Ali, who was with him when the gunmen stormed his house was not lucky as he died last Thursday at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Ituku Ozalla, from gunshot wound he sustained from the hoodlums.
Nathaniel told Vanguard: ”My friend, late Job Ali, visited me at about 5p.m. in the evening on the day I was kidnapped. We had finished drinking, when he told me that he wanted to leave.
“I pleaded with him to exercise patience so we can eat and stroll together. He just came out to ease himself and met the hoodlums. They started shooting sporadically and shot him on the stomach.
“I stood up when I heard the sound of gunshots. I noticed that they have cordoned off my house. They had Army , and AK-47 rifles. They were six in number. Then, I decided to run for my dear life.
“One of them chased me and threatened to shoot me. When I looked back, I saw one of them holding my child. This made me to come back to meet them.
“The one that chased me continued to threaten to shoot and I dispossessed him of the gun, but I fell down in the process and he collected it back from me.
“At that time, his members have ransacked my house, taking all my money. They started beating me with machetes and ordered me to follow them. I asked them where they were taking me to and they said ‘Let us go and see Oga’.
“They dragged me into the bush and we started the journey from there. This was happening at about 7p.m. in the evening.
“When we got to the bush, they told me that they were kidnappers and demanded that I should cooperate.
“They asked me to call my brothers, that was when I told them that I was the eldest son. They gave me my daughter’s phone, which they took from the house, and I called my wife to inform her that I am alive.” Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J |

by Chris Oji, Enugu August 6, 2019
A monarch, Igwe Sunday Orji, has been kidnapped near Ogbaku-Umuogbe end of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Enugu State.
Police spokesman Ebere Amaraizu, confirming the incident, said operatives have swung into action to rescue the traditional ruler.
Family sources told The Nation on Monday that the abductors have established contact with them, demanding N50million ransom.
The police, however, could not confirm the ransom angle.
Awgu axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway has become a hotbed of terrorism.
Residents have accused herdsmen of being responsible for the kidnap, but the police have warned against such hasty conclusion. Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J |

Yeah, Ode. You are fond of trying to project Peter Obi as being bigger than he is. To you, Peter Obi has a stake in every business concern in Nigeria. Ode oponu aiyerada. You must think you are dealing with your fellow Akpu-slurping mumus. If any igbo had as much stake in the business in question as you are claiming, it sure doesn't reflect in the company's choice of locations when siting their malls because no less than 85% of their malls are located within Yoruba-centric cities/states - Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Kwara (with the exception of Enugu polo mall, which is the only one located in the entire SE region where Obi is from). If any igboman had as much stake in the business as you are trying to let on, how come such a person couldn't influence more spread of the Palms Mall brand in his SE region? You have always been a very daft and mumu-ish fellow right from time, so I'm not surprised at your infantile and baseless claims. No be today you begin your hype business. Kresta Laurel, owned by former Governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, is the foremost lift/escalator producer and installation company in Nigeria and has been installing escalators all over Nigeria since you were probably still in diapers (going by your profile picture you are obviously still in highschool even). Kresta Laurel installed the escalators at CBN Osogbo branch decades back. You can go there for yourself to confirm it if you are in doubt. To you escalators are a big deal but FYI escalators have been in the SW region since the late 50s early 60s, from Kingsway stores, UAC and the likes. Ogun state has escalators and lifts littered all over it (I won't even mention Oyo state). Palm mall at Ota has them, OPIC multistorey tower building at Abeokuta has another. MetaPhysical: I agree! He encountered a fulani bandit along Akure highway not long before Mrs Olakunri's episode. He reported it nonchalantly. Never followed up on it. Then to highlight his complacency on the issue, his government rwsponded and said they had a meeting with macban and gave macban instruction to weed bad elements out. So was there follow up with macban to see how that task was progressing? Actually, what the fvk is a State Governor doing meeting with macban, a fulani ethnic group? If fulani are carrying ak47 and killing people in your territory you deal with it as required by law.
Akeredolu cannot....his hands are tied because the person that put him in government house against Tinubu's candidate is fulani and macbam patron.
So you see why he must turn his face the opposite way and not harass macban.
As far i know if you are not fulani you cannot join macban.
OPC must begin to field candidates for us in state elections and even LG elections. His nonchalant reaction to that encounter he had with bandits is very instructive of his dereliction of duty as a chief security officer of the state. Perhaps the Olakunrin murder may have been averted had he been more proactive and assertive in the discharge of his duty to protect his people after that incident. As much I am not a fan of Fayose, I dare say that he would have responded differently had he been the one that met with those bandits. We all saw the way Fayose responded to the criminal activities of herdsmen within his Ekiti domain when he felt the FG security apparatus wasn't forthcoming; he organised local hunters and vigilantes to confront the criminals head-on. He even got the state assembly involved. Akeredolu has furked up big time with his handling of the security of the Ondo populace. That is just the na.k.ed truth. |

His position as SW Gov Chairman means nothing when he lacks capacity to secure his home state. If he cannot govern Ondo what is the value of chairing a regional Governing Council? The revelation of Fulani vigilantes operating within Ondo is a very big embarrassment to the Yoruba race. In saner climes, such blunder would be enough to cost/deny Aketi a second term because it is simply unacceptable. I don't buy the excuse/talk about him not knowing about their existence prior to the revelation since he is the chief security officer of the state. Vigilante operations are too sensitive to be left into the hands of non-indegenes. OPC for example could easily have filled that position. |
