Guy, I hope you followed Amosun to chop Ogun money, with the way you are defending him like so. He should release a press statement to offer his own side because Dapo's allegations are very weighty. We were all made to believe that Amosun's management prowess of the state was tops, with the reported high IGR and all, but all that seems to be a scam. Either way, I hope you are enjoying your share of the loot. wink

It's not only Yorubas that stay way from the SE in large numbers. Efiks, Edos, Ikwerres, ibibios, Ebiras, Hausa and other ethnicities also avoid the place like the plague and refuse to own property there. I think it's because the region lacks certain attractive traits for foreigners. Yorubas are plenty in Rivers (PH especially) and even own properties there. Therefore igbos shouldn't single out Yorubas for not wanting to domicile in igboland. Yoruba migrants can be found in significant numbers thriving all over Nigeria, West Africa, and much of the rest of the world so there must be a peculiar reason why Yorubas as well as most other Nigerians (including many igbos) avoid living in the SE. My two cents.

PoliticsFG Using South East Resources To Develop North — MASSOB by RockHard(op): 9:31am On May 10, 2019
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/05/fg-using-s-east-resources-to-develop-north-massob/

ON MAY 10, 2019

By Dennis Agbo The Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of implementing an economic agenda aimed at the strangulation of the South-East geo-political zone.

MASSOB alleged that the President strangulated the eastern region to develop his northern origin. The group, however, charged governors in the eastern region to look inward and investigate how the Federal Government is using the resources generated from the southeast to develop the North.

It cited instances of abandoned eastern railway corridor for Abuja-Kaduna; inactive eastern seaports for Kaduna dry port, among others as calculated economic blockades against the eastern region by the Buhari administration.

Spokesman of MASSOB, Samuel Edeson in a statement in Enugu yesterday, said it has become paramount that governors from the eastern region come together in the spirit of brotherhood and develop the region.

Edeson said: “It is very clear that President Muhammadu Buhari and the northern cabal have perfected plans to establish northern agenda, which is to frustrate, destabilise and crush the entire eastern region because of their hatred for Biafra.

“Why are Lagos seaports functional and causing traffic gridlock from to Cele to Mile 2, Apapa and other parts of Lagos State?

“MASSOB wishes to inform the citizens that the Federal Government has opened Kaduna dry port for Igbo importers who are their primary target.

“Why are Calabar, Port Harcourt and Onitsha seaports not working? Because the Arewa cabals know that if these ports are operational, the entire eastern region will progress economically.

“This is the second phase of the economic blockade the Federal Government is using against Biafra.

“Nigeria railway is actively functioning in other parts of this entity called Nigeria but in the east, there is nothing like a train. The rail track has been vandalised by the same agents of the government.

“The railway quarters in the eastern region are death traps and some so-called Igbo leaders will be shouting ‘One Nigeria’.” All railways in the east have been taking over by grasses and arm bandits.

“MASSOB wishes to remind Ndigbo of our think home agenda, Ndigbo must start relocating their industries, businesses and other investments back to Biafra land because of a bird at hand worth more in the bush. MASSOB remind our people that Nigeria will never like you because of the pathological hatred they have against Ndigbo. All Igbo wealth in the northern region will one day be on fire in the name of religious crisis.

Igbos who are still building who built mansions and shopping malls in Lagos should also know that the godfather of Lagos state has perfected plans to revoke all properties owned by Ndigbo in Lagos state through the new puppet he installed as governor of Lagos state. MASSOB is urging Igbo businessmen especially the importers not to use any new port unless Calabar, Onitsha and Port Harcourt seaports are rehabilitated and functional.

“MASSOB advised that Ndigbo should use other neighbouring countries seaports because you cannot beat a child and at the same time stop him from crying.

“MASSOB advised Eastern governors to establish industries and mechanic villages in their respective States. They should also repair the abandoned ones by the federal government to avoid kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal acts in the Eastern region.”

Health120,000 Enroll For Lagos Health Insurance Scheme by RockHard(op): 8:43am On May 07, 2019
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/05/120000-enroll-for-lagos-health-insurance-scheme/

MAY 7, 2019, HEALTH, NEWS

By Gabriel Olawale

NO less than 120,000 persons have enrolled for the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme since it was launched in December 2018.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris who disclosed this said the State government is not relenting in ensuring that all residents in the State have access to quality and affordable healthcare without necessarily paying out of pocket.

Idris said: “The target for this year is to enroll one million people, but implementing health insurance scheme for over 20 million people is not an easy task, so we are not in hurry to do it so as to avoid mistakes.

“What we concentrate on mostly now is building the capacity of different agents who will take part in the Scheme such as providers who will render service, field agents, ICT providers and ensure that the facilities conform with best practices.

“Presently we have accredited 150 private facilities and 44 public facilities while some are still undergoing accreditation. We are also meeting the key stakeholder in informal sector which constituted about 60 percent of the population because if you don’t enroll those people this scheme will fail.”

Further, Idris explained that while the enrollments are ongoing, the indigent are carried along. “In Makoko, we have enrolled over 2,000 indigent people and doing the same thing in Alimosho. We have some facilities in Alimosho which have started rendering service and by June many people will have access.”

On the insinuation that the private sector should be allowed to fix its own cost, Idris said such action we deviate the essence of the Scheme, “If we allow them to fix cost so many people will not be able to afford it. When they carried out a study on the ideal cost for the scheme, it was N70,000 but government brought it down to N40,000. That informed the decision of the state government in contributing a minimum of 1 percent of consolidated revenue of the state.

“Access to finance initiative has been put in place to assist private sector in accessing loan to take care of little things so that they can meet up with standard. Corroborating his view, the General Manager of Lagos State Health Management Agency, LASHMA, Dr. Peju Adenusi said the Scheme was designed to be affordable. “N 40,000 for family of six and if you have more than four children below 18 years, N6,000 extra charge applies while for adults it is N8,500 per annual and is renewable every year.

“The Scheme is compulsory by law and once you enroll you have opportunity to choose whether you want to access service in private facilities or public facilities. If you are not satisfied with that provider, you have the right to complain to the Agency, they investigate, if you are right you can change your provider. If they investigate and find provider guilt, such provider will be sanctioned.”

PoliticsAgege LG Launches Free Shuttle Buses For School Pupils by RockHard(op): 9:17pm On May 06, 2019
MAY 6, 20197:23 BY ADEKUNLE

Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State on Monday morning launched free shuttle buses for pupils of public primary and secondary schools in the locality. Twenty six primary schools and nine secondary schools are in the area with a total number of about thirteen thousand pupils.

The 30-seater branded coaster buses, which have “Free School Bus” inscribed on it, would operate during weekday except holidays conveying pupils of public schools within the local government to and fro.

The shuttle buses would pick up pupils between 6.00am-8.00am at designated areas including Agbotikuyo Bus Stop, Pen Cinema, Capitol, and Ogba-Ashade and drop them off at the same locations between 2.30pm and 5.00pm.

At the flag-off, the executive chairman of the council, Alhaji Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, who was behind one of the buses’ wheels from Agbotikuyo where he picked up pupils at 7.00am, drove through Dopemu, Awosoga and Iloro.

Speaking to newsmen at Diary Farm Primary School where some of his passengers alighted, the Council chief explained that the scheme is a social intervention programme aimed at ameliorating the sufferings of indigent families that are not in short supply in the area.

“It is a daily struggle for most parents and guardians in Agege to meet their responsibilities to their children and wards and as government we are disturbed and concerned.

“The council under my watch, equally recognised the strong nexus between poverty and crime and susceptibility of children to peer pressure particularly in our community where cultism is on the rise. We hope this programmes can equally help in our renewed war against the menace of the Awawa cult group. We think this way, we would be able to limit the period our pupils are in the care of nobody and vulnerable to the influence of bad kids,” he said.

Egunjobi added that the scheme would reduce incessant risks faced daily by pupils, who ride on motorcycles to schools and return homes by the same means, saying efforts are in place to make the free shuttle service has legislative backing and ensure it outlived his administration.

According to him: “As we speak, the council executive sponsored a bill tagged: “Agege Free School Bus Shuttle” which is before our legislative arm. We want to legitimise the scheme and ensure its sustainability. In the bill, we recommended that at every time there must be a minimum of five operational vehicles for the scheme. We are starting with two and hopefully before the end of this year, we will increase the fleet. ”

Speaking, Chairman, Agege Community Development Committee, Bishop Julius Olusanya, lauded the scheme and heaped praise on the Egunjobi led-administration.

“Our joy knows no bounds. We have not witnessed anything of this kind in Agege. This administration of Egunjobi is first in several areas. My prayer is that God will continue to bless the council Chairman and enrich him with knowledge and ideas to take Agege to greater heights.”

In her own remark, Stella Akpan, a pupil of Diary Farm Primary School also eulogized the scheme adding that the current council leadership has been running people centred government.

Her words: “This government has done a lot for us. About five schools were rehabilitated and new classrooms and modern toilets built. The government also gave us uniforms, desks, chairs, exercise books and school bags. We are grateful to the council and the chairman.”
