I thought of suicide several times but my wife and my hausa friend would not let me. I had to leave the city due to debts. Immediately I got back to my home town things started improving. My wife had to pick up a govt job. I started another business immediately after Covid wahala, today I'm almost fully back. In fact, I thank God I didn't end my life. The future is now brighter for me.

The All Progressives Congress’ presidential committee has disqualified 10 aspirants from its primaries scheduled for next week.

Chairman of the Committee, John Oyegun, revealed this on Friday.

According to Mr Oyegun, only 13 out of the 23 aspirants screened were cleared by the committee.

He added that only youthful aspirants made the list of cleared aspirants.

However when asked about the identity of the disqualified aspirants, Mr Oyegun declined to disclose the names.

The committee held the screening exercise between Monday and Tuesday this week.

Cleared aspirants are expected to contest the presidential primary at a scheduled special convention in Abuja between June 6 and 8.

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi yesterday, debunked speculation that he was having a rift with former governor of Lagos State and one of the presidential aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the forthcoming general elections.


Fayemi stated this in Osogbo during his consultation with the party faithful in Osun State over his presidential aspiration.
The Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum urged the delegates in the state to exercise unity of purpose in supporting South-West agenda, saying that victory for one is victory for all.

He said: “For me, the victory of South-West means that we are all victorious, because there is no aspirant from the zone who is not eminently qualified. Our values have remained constant and we are leaders in the progressive movement.

“We are driven by the same belief, passion and commitment to improve the condition of the people. That is what is driving whatever we are doing.

“I have not come with any sense of entitlement. I have only come to make an appeal. And it is important to dispel any insinuation that there is one big battle going on among us. This is not true. As a matter of fact, I told Asiwaju that I am coming here today. So, people should be careful not to inherit non-existent enemies. What is important is the progress of the people and success of the South-West.”


Meanwhile, Fayemi has expressed his readiness to support Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to ensure his success, especially in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

He lauded the governor’s rich understanding of governance and progressive ideologies, saying he has shown unusual capacity to keep the state afloat amid depressed economy.

In his remarks, Oyetola lauded Fayemi for his support over the years, saying: “I am elated to welcome my dear brother to our state. We have been brothers for several years before now. Our journey of brotherhood didn’t start from politics.

“The beauty of what is happening is the fact that South-West has brilliant aspirants to showcase. It shows that we have the best for the contest.

“I pray that God will grant your heart desires and by His grace, South-West will produce the presidential candidate of the party.”

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has appealed to Christians to always respect the doctrines of people of other faith, emphasizing the need for all religious institutions to engage their congregations more efficiently in religious education.

The national president of CAN, Dr Samson Ayokunle while speaking on The Morning Show on Arise TV, Monday, said students should be taught to report issues to relevant authorities or law enforcement agencies.

He said, “There’s a need for religious education so you know what people of other faith around you don’t want and you respect them. If there’s the mutual respect in this nation, there will be peace. Don’t take unilateral offence toward anybody that has offended you. Report it appropriately. This is a civilized society. This is not the stone age.

“To the best of my knowledge, I didn’t see the name of any religious leaders being mentioned in all the documents I got from our people in Sokoto, who are Christians.”

“Killing that lady and setting her ablaze is one action, too many and it should not be allowed in the guise of any religion to take place again. And I want to warn some religious leaders, who are saying there needs to be a redline.

“In a country where we have democracy, if there’s a red line for you, report it appropriately and let the law enforcement agencies handle it, while I’m also appealing to every Christian to respect other religious groups around you,” he said.

Noting that nobody has the right to take unilateral action to terminate the life of another human being, Ayokunle said, “If we have been talking to our government and they have not been able to take decisive action in bringing the culprits to book, then the entire world needs to hear. We’ll need to appeal to the international community to help Nigerian Christians.

Describing the Deborah incident as annoying and barbaric, the cleric said nobody has a monopoly on the environment, saying, “If some people are doing this and going scot-free as if it’s the Banana Republic, the State of lawlessness may set in eventually.”
