Food › Re: My Boyfriend Buys Me Buka Food! by Ronke2811(f): 11:26am On May 07, 2007
@ Jesus freak
My observations to your question
1. wud u ever complain if your boyfriend have bn takking you to nice places like ( golden gates, TFC, Mr biggs, S.S and other beautiful places).
2. Next time he ask u to go with him to a bukateria, take the money from him and quickly dash to a neraby market and prepare something lovely for the both of you.
3. there is no law that states the guy must do the buying, take him out for a nice treat and watch his reactions
4. u also have to consider the finances of your boyfriend, who knows if he working or not. and i believe all that matters is love , trust not the location of where u hang out.
5. just take out time to study wat / who ur guy is.
6. last word, if u cant stand the heat in the kitchen u better get out fast ( it simply means that, if u dont like an iya basira boyfriend, it will be more difficult marrying/ leaving forever with an iya basira hussy)

smile4kenn:
When i mean 500,000 naira, its just the fee to pay the weddings planner thats not the money to setup the wedding.
@ smile4kenn
i think this price is really on the high side, just because i need information doesnt mean myself and my hussy shld dole out half a million to a single soul, bearing in mind that i still have to pay other vendors ( caterers, drinks, facial , makeup, cameramen, videography, rentals, etc).

Sundaisy:
Fellow Nairalander,
My wedding is coming up by December and I want to start planning now, but I don’t know how and where to start, Please I need help!!!!!!!!!!!!}
@ sundaisy
my candid advice
1. do a budget on ur expenses
2. buy wedding planner magazine ( its a monthly magazine)
3. get ideas by attending pples wedding
4. get ur friends involved ( two good heads are better than one)
5. 2 things dat must be handy( biro and a note pad) ideas springs up every seconds
6. inspirations comes from within, dare to be different
7. surf the net
8.

Christino:
I'm sure the pastors didn't invite them, it's just that politicians are so desperate, they are targetting popular pastors with large congregations. They'll soon visit TB Joshua and Kumuyi grin

Pastors will only err when they declare publicly who they intend to vote for. Make no mistake, 80% of their followers will follow their lead!

I understand Chris Oyakhilome has declared NO TO OKOTIE! That's also unfair.
@ Christino
i dont know where you got this information about pastor chris oyakhilome declring NO TO OKOTIE.
may God forgive you.
Romance › Re: Should I Attend My Ex-boyfriend's Wedding? by Ronke2811(f): 11:52am On Mar 21, 2007
Well, i really sympathsize with you, but like most nairalanders had advice, i guess u shuld move on with ur life, just imagine the scenario, u will go there , u will definately see his family and friends whom onced cherish and loved you , i can imagine the look on their faces, God knows wat picture the guy might have painted you before them, he might have told them u were cheating on him or all sorts, u then become a laughing stock with so many sorrys and self pity.
baby girl, the guy is not worth your gift not alone your prescence on his wedding day. the two timming born again ex boyfriend of yours doesnt deserve all the emotional stress you will pass thru on that wedding day if u go, he just make to make a fool of you, and spite you in the presence of all that knew wat u shared together.
my candid advice:
DONT GO FOR THE WEDDING,

laudate:
Listen to Gracious. Her words are pearls of wisdom. Don't attend.

You guys probably have friends in common & those ones will attend. Trust me, they will come back to gist you. There is no need putting yourself through any unnecessary stress to attend the wedding, because of the guy.

Afterall, he thought you were good enough for him to bed, but not good enough for him to wed. Look, a lot of people who knew you & him as an item when you guys were dating, would be present at that weding. And I can guarantee, you would be the main subject of their gossip. So why would you subject yourself to the indignity of having people gossip about you, because you attended his wedding?

Believe me my dear, it is not worth the stress. If you showed up, he might take it as a sign that you couldn't keep away from him, if he is as arrogant as you say he is.

So why bother? If you must attend a wedding, attend the weddings of those people who truly love you for who you are & value your presence in their lives. Not a two-timing jerk who took delight in stringing you along & toying with your feelings, when he had nothing decent to offer you.

My two cents.
@laudate
i sincerely agree with you
Family › Re: If Your Husband Has A Child Out Of Wedlock by Ronke2811(f): 10:37am On Mar 19, 2007
funny world we live in, i used to date a guy, but never knew he had a two year old son, he didnt tell me for the fera of not losing me(so he said) but i found out from external sources, i was really devastated cos i really and deeply was in love.
the problem here is not the child but the mother of the child.
what if she wants to come back and train her child, at least she has an equal right to the house too, an no one can stop her from seeing her child.
so it is a very difficult situation, cos if the mother of the child was dead or had remarried it may sound better but if she is stiill a spinsiter, it is going to be a war zone, a difficult battle to win.
but in all one need to be very patience so as not to lose her home. but really it takes the grace of God to do that.

If you give her gold now, and later you decide to dump her, it might be more painful. When you give such gifts, it's assumed that the relationship is getting more serious. If you give gold now, what will you propose with?
@seun
why act as an outdated lover. huh
Blenheim:
Is there anything wrong with giving a gold necklace as a gift to girlfriend you havent proposed to?
My friends say its wrong but I don't think so.

Romance › Re: I'm Scared That He Might Be Keeping Another Woman by Ronke2811(f): 11:07am On Mar 13, 2007
@ijay
ur fiancee doesnt call you anymore and u think he is seeing somelse , i think that was a harsh conclusion.
i keep wondering why we ladies dont ever trust the guys, TRUST IS A VERY VITAL POINT IN ANY RELATIONSHIP
i think u shuld find time and see him over a weekend or betterstill since he has stopped calling why dont u do the calling. funny enough we females think the guys have to do all the calling, sending recharge cards, buying gifts and all sorts, but we still have our vital role to play, we were called HELP MEET in the holy book, so we shouldnt be too pushy on the guys or else they go look for shelter outside.
and please wen u call, dont shout at him or quarrel over the issue, who knows he might be a little indisposable or even busy.
funny enough he may just want to see if u will call him or not, so girlie, pick up ur fone and call ur hearthrob.
Culture › Re: Igbo And Yoruba Marriages? by Ronke2811(f): 10:03am On Mar 13, 2007
Bossman:
We have come a long way and it's time your GF's dad realize that. he needs to be able to put whatever reservations he has behind, move on and let his daughter do what she sees is best for her. I can't believe that in this day and age, some people still hold this beliefs. We know the differences are there, but I have also seen a lot of Ibo/Yoruba marriages. What should matter is the love and respect the parties have for each other. It should be pointed out that that you will see more of the Yoruba guy/Ibo girl relationships rather than the reverse though.
@bossman:
it is easier said than done, i guess u arent nigerian, cos our parents really value and cherish their so called beliefs abt intertribal marriage.

in all sincerity, i really sympathsize with carbonate, the issue of intertribal marriages has left more youths devastated.
for example my parents will never consent to me marrying someone other than a yoruba guy,
they gave all sorts of reason which all borne down to outdated culture , beief,and tradition. sometimes i try hard to adhere and see reasons with them but i dont just get it and i dont want to go against their wishes cos a parents blessing is very paramount in ones life. of wat good will it be if i marry against their wish and nobody from my family comes to grace the wedding.
i have accepted to date a yoruba guy, but i will not pass this to my kids.

Business › Re: Muslims Reject New Naira Notes: No Arabic Inscription by Ronke2811(f): 8:59am On Mar 12, 2007
nuru:
ALL,

Its true that Nigeria is not a muslim state but the Ajami inscription on the Notes had not dettered anybody from spending the notes when they were introduced. Now that its been removed, the question still remains, what has anybody gained from its removal.

The Nigerian state is a plural society; ethnicity, religiosity and culturally. We always should respect ourselves. From most postings on this thread, that respect which is vital to our successful co-existence is not displayed. If most go on in real life with the kind of attitudes articulated here, the country I am sorry may not progress. Even when we differ on issues, we should have the courtesy and decency of being polite in our contributions. I think everybody should go back to his/her previous posts and see if decency had been applied. We can start achieveing peace and progress through this forum.
@nuru
of wat importance has the arabic inscription added to the ecomony of nigeria, it has not paid off the world loan we took, neither has it elevates the status of the average man in the nation.
we should be realistic, nigeria was not formed as an islamic nation and i dont see us becoming that in 3000 years to come, all we should be after is the making nigeria a world class nation for our unborn generation instead of spending precious time arguing abt wat can never be reversed.

i have this very good , nice and wonderful friend, weve being friends since 2 decades now. she is very undersatnding and can do anything for you.
she is the first in a family of four, very pretty, brillant and has a good paying job( she earns 300k per month) and she is from a very wealthy family.
but she do have a problem: she cant but take things from your back especiallly money, i noticed back then in university so i am always cautious wenever we go out to stay beside her all through.
sometimes she might just take 100naira, 500 naira from your bag, and to make matter worse she doesnt use them for anything.
she is getting married in the next two months, i really need advice from my fellow nairalanders on how to help her. cos she is really a friend in need and indeed.

Romance › Re: How Much Can You Spend On Your Wedding Day by Ronke2811(op): 4:56pm On Mar 09, 2007
MyPeace:
Sweetie, it depends on you. I am equally on it now. One thing i found out is that you can never figure out how much u will spend, but you can give a range. However, mind you, you arent doing it to please anybody. You have to cut your coat according to your cloth (not size).

You will really cut cost, if u do the engagement and the wedn the same day, thats if its possible. But where its not possible like in my case, its indeed additional cost and separate cost on its own. For the two budget about 400k - 500k to have a moderate ceremony. Mind you, for some people 500k will only for the wedn gown!! So u have to plan according to your pocket so that u don't drink gari afterwards. You can actually have a wedn with 100 - 200k, it all depends on what u want.

Good Luck!!
thanks girlie, please do u have any wedding list for a runcheck, i mean all it entails for a wedding.

question 1:
kkutecolo, to be realistic, will u mind if he gives other babes his number and they send all sorts to him

question2:
it seems here that we are having TRUST AND TRANSPARENCY ISSUES;

i am a marketer and my dear 99.9% of my clients are guys and my fiancee doesnt frown wen he sees me give guys my number cos the trust is there.

but lets reason together,if i didnt give him my number ow on earth would he think we will date. considering the fact that he is also a guy.

my sis just relax and be wise in ur dealings with him, in as much as that there are no strings attached to those guys.

Romance › Re: Can A Relationship Survive A Break? by Ronke2811(f): 8:51am On Mar 08, 2007
well break in a relationship has its good and bad sides, it all depends in the maturity of both parties.
for instance, i had a break from my fiancee for about 1 year, and we still came back at the expiration of the deadline. it all depends on wat u want, wat u are trying to watch out from. if it is for selfish motives or because of a new find love it is not worth it, but if the love is geniune it will stand the test of time.
just make up your mind and talk it out between u two.
