Your once hardly known community of Akwakuma near Owerri must now have benefited from more government development infrastructure than Orlu;

Akwakuma may now be more populated than Orlu owing to Gov. Okorocha's policy of having Owerri with surrounding communities as the only area worthy of placing his development projects.

For your information, in 1976 when Imo state was created, the three towns of Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe had little or no difference in their levels of urbanization.

He did this instead of completing a gutter less than 800 meters length to channel all the town's floods to a nearby valley, a drainage project started by a former governor of Imo state.

If Okorocha had rescued the people in Okigwe and Orlu by asphalting their roads which his contractors scrapped and abandoned in the last four years, perhaps, the uproar against his bulldozers in Owerri may be muted.

He is a governor with a later-day obsession with a false idea that a state's capital must have more than 95% share of whatever modernity his govt can provide in a state.

But in 2011, he campaigned with a mantra that Imo government house shall rotate from one area to the other. People voted him for that.

There's no problem demolishing illegal structures. The problem is when you start demolishing every and any structure for reasons in your head.
A man wakes up one morning and decides to expand all roads in town at the same time(when all roads outside town are in serious disrepair) and brings down all structure even though they have are approved by the town planning commission and have an adequate spacing from the road. He has refused the court injunction to stop work and nothing can be done because of his immunity. Half of the city in in shambles presently. With the present recession, is this really the best time for demolition and destruction
The worst issue is that, Rochas doesn't finish his projects. He has brought down all these structures ( legal and illegal alike) for nothing. Examples of abandoned projects are: owerri at 40 estate, general Hospitals in every local government, underground carpark, fly over in akwakuma, numerous roads etc.

This okorocha is really helping APC to progress their destruction agenda in the south east. How can a govt be destroying properties where the poor and the average citizens depend for their income without any incentive , this is bad. I don't hate development, but it's good to consider those that will be mostly affected and compensate them.

Madness. To beautify Owerri, you go to virgin areas of the town, build new toads, lay down pipe borne water, gas and possibly electricity vpipes. Private builders now rush for building in the new area. Government makes money from the private builders.

But Rochas Okorocha mills round and round in the Owerri built many years ago, knocks down old relics and traditional land marks of Owerri, and says he is beautifying Owerri. Tufiakwa.

Again ,it's out of their stack ignorance that they call Omanbalas "Isoma". In Anambra we refer to people of Imo state who we dont know exactly where they come from as "ndi uzo Imo"(people living around Imo state). And going by their Facebook conversation it's evident they are referring to their northern Imo brothers like Orlu or Orsu. This has nothing to do with Omanbalas.

P.S. we don't speak like Orlu people,so,any Igbo person can tell the difference between say Mgbidi dialect and Omanbala.As soon as I open my mouth Owerri people will say I am from Onicha but I will quickly correct them.
