The 2016 immigration levels plan

The government of Canada is scheduled to table its 2016 immigration levels plan to Parliament on or before March 9, 2016. Among other details, this plan is expected to announce how many immigrants Canada aims to attract over the year and reveal a breakdown in the number of immigrants that will be allocated to the various Canadian immigration programs. This plan is usually presented by November of any given year, but has been delayed on this occasion due to the change in government at that time last year.

Hi , do are you on a work or study permit ? And how long did you wife's application take ...mine is now 3months with no response
BE811APP:
I am not a Senior Member in terms of a Correct advice but I think If u have enough money to sponsor the whole family.. u can all apply at once for the whole family but if the money u have is limited, allow him to go first then u apply for Spousal Open Work Permit SOWP after he gets there..

I am in the same shoes with u.. tho my wife is already there.. If i knew we could have applied with the kids initially..

Good Luck..

Hope it helps?

Hello, wasit the spouse open work permit you applied for ? To shed some light on it it issued to spouses of students and workers and is same duration
1nuola:
Hi everyone, my name is wonuola. I came accross this thread on Google and I must commend y'all. I got married august last year and finally my husband got a study visa to trebas institute toronto after he was denied twice. He left Nigeria September. I applied for an open work permit/visitationvisa on Dec 11, went for biometrics Dec 15. I prayed and fasted, hoping to God that I will get the visa, but I got a refusal mail some mins ago. We actually used a lawyer because he helped my husband get his visa. I am so devastated @ the moment, coz I waited for two months and spent so much money using the lawyers. Please I need the gurus in the house to advice me, I beg you guys. I was denied based on travel history, family ties in Canada and in country of residence, length of proposed stay and financial status. My dad wrote a letter that he was going to sponsor me and I used his statement of account. He had over 7million in his account. I really don't know if that affected the visa because am married. I really don't know what went wrong. 1)Can I apply for visitation first, then work permit later?? 2)Also do I have to wait for 30 days to apply again?? Please gurus I will be waiting for ur response, God bless y'all

@Huzzie and @Eruditor
I couldn't but to say that I was intrigued by your posts, like Huzzie said the chat is filled with repeated arguments and questions which is the reason people have moved on...this is not a bad thing though as they are quickly replaced
You both have very valid points infact excellent points
I feel Nigerians just tend to have a bias of what title a qualification will add to them MSc, PhD etc without properly analyzing what they want their career paths to be
I have been working here for almost a year in company dealing with lighting and energy I will tell you that most of my bosses graduated in Social Sciences not even from universities (from colleges) ...I think its a matter of what the individual truly wants
Usually people just play safe and not ask themselves the important questions instead follow the Masters bandwagon which MAY not have been the best choice for them...
NB ... Your opinion is yours and mine is mine ...but we all learn from one another

Huzzie:

Engineering is one of those courses that people go to colleges to gain hands on knowledge. Where I'm doing my Coop, one of the bosses graduated from my school (Brock uni) and went to Niagara college for a diploma in same course. Likewise, most of the savvy in the engineering department are products of Niagara college.

I like your punchline from the bolded.

Cheers

It's the result of making a former Bank MD entrenched in all sort of underground bank transactions the governor of the CBN its like letting the member of a robbery gang guard the vault
freezingus:
GTbank is a fraud. How can one make an online transfer from his domiciliary account to his savings or current and the exchange rate was being charged at the official exchange of 199, then, for one to use Master card they charge 280, someone has to call all these banks to order. This is not only the BDC's the banks are now deeply entrenched in this unholy act of making difficult for helpless Nigerians. The CBN governor needs to address this issue asap.

Hello kriss, I understand the zeal to help others as this thread was very helpful to me as well...kudos to you
The last part about food ...please dont take that hook line and sinker because if you're caught with the any edibles and didn't declare you will be in much more trouble
I am not big on travelling with foods cos I feel no matter how much it will still finish
But if you're someone that will stock enough pls its better to declare ...I know friends that declare whenever they come in and they were not delayed or scrutinized
At most they will be confiscated but not declaring is more risky especially if you have in large amounts

Kris99:
Travel Tip #1:
Do not put important documents, money and laptop in your main luggage. our might not be guaranteed that it will not be stolen from the airport in Nigeria after you have checked-in. Keep relevant documents such as passport, offer letter, proof of payment receipt or scholarship documents in your hand luggage. These documents will come handy when you touch down and head to join the immigration queue to obtain your study and work permit. There are instances where students kept valuables in main luggage and had them missing. 40-60min as you approach your destination( say the Pearson Airport in Toronto or Montreal) you will be asked by the air hostess to fill a declaration form. On this form you must provide the following information: Biodata, address you lived in in Nigeria, Contact number of someone home, address you will be staying in Canada, whether you have funds on you to declare or not, whether you are carrying any food item in your main luggage or not. For some of us, the smartest answer to give them is that you carry no funds on you( cos the moment you declare you do carry you must disclose the amount and go througha long process of clearance) . Same with food items. you will be asked to disclose..even if u carried stork fish or indomie i beg make unna no disclose am. It complicates things.

Hello bro, congrats

About your visa...you're always given the same time as your course plus a few months which is the duration of your study permit as well
About accommodation my advise is to go early of you can find someone to manage with and secure a room in a few days. my experience with kijiji is landlords don't like foreign enquiry and will want you to be on ground on a face to face.
For flight pls follow with the 155k its very likely through a flight agent even though I prefer booking directly with the airline the price difference through an agent can be up to 100 to 150k ...
Also if you planning to bring your family ...start looking into sowp and pnp route to PR after your masters

Please house I have this pressing issue:
>> Ticket Price: please what is the average ticket price from Lagos to Windsor
>> The expiration date on my passport is 02-Feb-2017 and that is exactly the expiration date on the Visa issued. I thought they were meant to give me temporary resident visa (like 3-6 months) then at the point of entry I would be issued Student Visa…..but I was given (16 months )visa that will expiry the same day my passport expires….
>> Accommodation: I need advice on very cheap and conducive accommodation. I wouldn’t mind sharing room.

Pls check this link below for guide to funds you need to show for each dependant ...but really do you think it will be easy for her cos it also means you need to apply for study permit for your kids since they have to go to school http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how-documents.asp

JUBILEE2000:

Thanks a lot for your kind response.

We don't have relatives in Canada. please may I know what you mean by showing extra 5 or 10K for each dependant?

Money might not be too much of an issue by God's grace. I really wanted to know if it is possible for one's children to accompany her to Canada on student's visa. Does anybody on this forum know someone who has done it in the past and if yes how did they go about it?

Your help will be appreciated.

Thank you.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by rsavvy: 12:03pm On Nov 12, 2015
I just think we have to look at this from the VOs point of view...one child is something but 3children and still going to school is a lot. If you have close family in Canada you can package that they are assisting you
Also hope you know you have to show like an extar 5k or 10k not too sure ...for each extra depandant I.e. your 3 children

JUBILEE2000:
Hello house,

Please I need candid advise from the gurus in this forum.
My wife just applied for a graduate programme in a Canadian university. I will sponsor her from Nigeria but she needs to travel with our 3 children; the eldest of them is 5yrs old. The challenge now is this: how best can we package their visa application to convince the embassy to grant her study permit and also allow her travel with the children? Please your advise and suggestions will be highly appreciated.

SOWP Application Online: 21st September
Medical Mail: 3rd November
Medical completed: 4th November
Medical Passed: 6th November
Passport Request: 9th November
Approval Mail: 11 November

God bless you guys. Please let's always share ideas on Spousal Open Work Permit. I noticed most people usually have questions unanswered, unlike Study Permit.

Spouse is on study permit with funding from the school
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by rsavvy: 2:32am On Nov 11, 2015
Thanks a lot ...yeah all cases are always slightly different ...one question is the spouse in Canada on a study permit, pgwp, or work permit ?

Ayodeledej:

Ok. I did it some weeks back. We submitted all the documents relevant or irrelevant. Acct statement, cheques, proof of relationship including pictures, hone ties and a letter that explained my reasons for visiting my spouse and that I needed to work while visiting.
It took about 5 weeks and half before I got called for medicals. Got medical passed within 2days. And the rest was easy. Took about 8 weeks in all.
Although our stories may be different, just know prayer is key, both before and after the application and totally trust God.
I hope that was helpful?

In order to avoid this, was why j came in before the first visa ezpired. Cos ideally you're not advised to leave Canada without getting response to the app

I intend to leave by January, any suggestions cause i think i stand a chance since i have a work permit, still paying for my credit card and bank accounts with them , the issue is how to go about it.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by rsavvy: 12:09pm On Nov 10, 2015
If your question is about "WHEN" I will say the earlier the better once you have all your documents ...I am sure a lot of people have already applied for September entry right now as you know most courses start on September

Hello everyone! Pls I need to know wen I sud apply for my trv, d resumption date is Sept. 2016.

I was denied July dis year.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by rsavvy: 12:07pm On Nov 10, 2015
Trust that I will have done that extensively before coming here . I even have all the documents needed already.
I just want to know if there's anyone here that's done it? The docs they submitted ? how long it took to get a response? etc ...so to have a second opinion on my methods

Ayodeledej:

What exactly are your questions and I would first advice you do your research well on cic website and Google
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by rsavvy: 12:04pm On Nov 10, 2015
I don't have one here ...just did the research whn I needed it. There are tons of sop on the internet and even in this forum

Please i need SOP sample format. I'm applying this december

Thanks
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by rsavvy: 11:58am On Nov 10, 2015
I was almost in the same situation as you but got back into Canada a day before my visa expired

I will advise you call CIC to find out if you should do it locally or have your passport sent to Canada ...I hope you're not in a hurry though

sellmyadiva:
Hi guys, I have a pressing question. I was recently issued my postgraduate work permit while in Nigeria. My visa expired in April so do i need to apply from Nigeria or send my passport back to canada to get it stamped with a visa?
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by rsavvy: 11:56am On Nov 10, 2015
Visiting is even much harder and I have seen a lot of people get rejected for visit even when invited when the spouse is a permanent resident....the key to visiting is having strong ties to home country ...so parents that have job and children etc in naija can get visiting easily compared to younger folks

Ak4christ:

Yea this forum is for study but ppl av answered question on SOWP,but I will want to ask why don't you apply for your wife from within canada if you can easily get a visiting visa?

Hello my good people,

I have a friend who has BSc in Quantity Survey, and an MBA. She has over 15 years’ experience in banking. She has never used the BSc degree to work in quantity survey related job, so there is a knowledge gap. Right now she wants to set up a consulting company as a quantity surveyor. Because she has no knowledge on current operations in the field, she is considering doing another BSc degree in Quantity Survey in Canada to brush up. What are her chances of getting a student visa?

I understand she needs to prepare a SOP as part of visa requirement. What explanation will suffice in SOP and will sound convincing?

Thank you.
After 15/years working a bachelors just seems too low seems she already even has a bachelors ...my view is a diploma of 2years preferably with a work term is much better angle
One doesn't have to know the nitty gritty to run a business
