We don't have any indian there. Those are 3rd generation Kenyans of indian origin. You see unlike South Africa or Nigeria - there is no oil field or gold mine - one can grab or bribe and just become a billionaire like in Nigeria.Still they are many Africans who are making serious money in Kenya. Daejoyoung: |
Kenya has had nearly 60yrs of un-interrupted peace and our politician are equally rapacious...so Moi..Kenyatta..are probably equally rich..plus Kibaki..and all the former ministers and big shots. Rumour has it Uhuru Kenyatta was bribed 300M dollars for the SGR railway alone 4yrs ago. Obviously they own real wealth - kenyatta family land holding in Nairobi alone is staggering - and they all don't list their companies - so while you marvel at the paper value of Dangote Wealth - Sani Abach has hard cold cash in bank vaults of Swiss Alps- the Mois and Kenyattas can ran so many circles around Dangote paper value with real hard cash. The difference though - our politics is peaceful - and our elite don't stash their money abroad alot like Sani Abacha - so that money is pretty much in circulation. Daejoyoung: |
I am not aware if anybody has done comparative study? I know shs is like 4 naira - but I don't know how much fufu 1 naira can get. Daejoyoung: |
Dollars. Let not try NAIRA - coz that it one worthless currency. Daejoyoung: |
If you had white & asian enterprenuers - you won't be the laughing stock of the world. Google Equity Bank Foundation - clue - it has sends about 400 kids to ivy league - and sponsors more than 10,000s bright one in high schools. samsobo24: |
Which is why it's irrelevant. And we have compared your clean millionaires & we are closing on you. The 500B dollar economy of 200M has only 15,000 against 10,000!!!!!!! Daejoyoung: |
And who told you we don't have kenya indigenous enterprenuers. You've have Tony Elmelu - we have James Mwangi (of Equity Bank). samsobo24: |
If you're interested in dollar billionaires in kenya who'll never make to any forbes list - here they are 1) Moi 2) Kenyatta -name them - politician - with hidden bank accounts all over the world - who've stolen for many years. Moi and Kenyatta have each combined stolen for 25yrs. You don't think Dangote or whoever - who depend on stock exchange value of their PAPER wealth - can measure with politician who steal 10-30% of the budget each yr - own real estates all over the world. https://answersafrica.com/richest-people-kenya.html |
He wanted concessions and we told him to hit the road. Kenya cement industry is very vibrant and there is massive investment. Dangote can only compete if he get unfair advantage - free land - free electricity - tax holiday- and you wonder why nigeria has zero taxes collected outside what SHell and oil companies pay All you wealth is now held by one man - and he pays no taxes - if he paid taxes - annually Nigeria gov would get maybe 1B dollars from him.How is Dangote going to help you if he doesn't want to pay taxes. He talk a big game - then ask for 10 yr tax holiday. CONMAN.Ethiopian gave him nearly everything free and TZ too - now Magufuli has been putting him under scrutiny.Kenya is way too smart for your saviour Dangote. No free land. No free electricity. No tax holiday. Come and compete with everyone. It's a free open door policy liberalized market economy we ran. You don't need to see a politician - just come - register you company in a day and start business the next day. rvp2017: |
Did you google - even Nairaland has it https://www.nairaland.com/3949042/lagos-4-billionaires-360-multi-millionaires Here is LAGOS versus Nairobi. *Lagos: Total wealth held in the city amounts to US$120 billion. Home to 6,800 millionaires, 360 multi-millionaires and 4 billionaires. Major sectors in the city include: real estate & construction, telecoms, transport, financial services and basic materials. *Nairobi: Total wealth held in the city amounts to US$55 billion. Home to 6,800 millionaires and 280 multi-millionaires (no billionaires). Major sectors in the city include: financial services, real estate & construction, retail, tourism, FMCG, telecoms and basic materials. 68816419: |
Kenya has $2B dollar overdraft facility with IMF. Why on earth would you borrow 200M dollars if you're a 500B economy. Borrow 5B dollars..at least even 1% of your GDP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why even borrow from WB or IMF - if you're 500B dollar economy ![]() ![]() ![]() ?? unless you cooked it ! overcooked it. Do you think South Africa go borrowing 200M from WB? 500B dollar economy should already have serious debt market - Nigeria debt market - should be lending to kenya. 68816419: |
Sani Abacha & other politicians who is not listed there probably owns Nigeria. That is where you oil went. As far as the number of wealthy. Nigeria - has 4 billion dollar millionares - 360 multi- million (10M ) and 16,000 millionaires. Nothing impressive - Kenya has 0billionaires - 340 multi-millionaires- and 10,000 milionaires South Africa - has 7billionares -620 multi- and 40,000 millioanires..dollar terms. 68816419: |
Yeah that is about how much they think of your GDP. 200M dollars. You're not even serious man and if you can come here and shows us 200, 500 M dollars. Please get a grip of yourself. 500B dollar economy borrowing 200m. Do you even understand what we are talking about here. Kenya with it's 80B GDP - has 2B dollar stand-by facility at IMF - we can take it whenever we want. It like an overdraft of 2B dollars. 68816419: |
If you're still interested in measure the wealthy. Here is the data I have seen. Nigeria - 4 $billionaires -360 multi-millionaire - about 16,000 millionaires. Kenya - 0$ billionaires - 340 multi-millionaire - about 10,000 millionaires. |
2016 data for the wealthy if you want to count - Kenya (9,400) and Nigeria (15,400) and South Africa(40,400). We don't have to go through Dangote your savior wealth - because I told you we've about 10 politicians in kenya with lots of wealth hidden.

|
I know counting Dangote & few oil barons who've rigged Nigeria corrupt systems and skimmed off your oil really delude you guys but that is nothing when rest of Nigeria is a huge slums. If you're intersted in counting millionaires..count them all. Kenya had 8,500 millionaires and Nigeria 16,000 - not long time ago - despite Nigeria being nearly 4-5 times big!! If am not wrong - Kenya is closing the gap. 2016 data - – Kenya 9,400 - Nigeria 15,400 and South Africa(40,400)! |
Yemi Kale - is not PWC or World Bank - whatever a country cooks - WB & IMF have no recourse - Academicians can and have questioned Nigeria GDP - and we've shown enough evidence that it's cooked. If WB believed you GDP for a minute - they would loan you some money. Obviously they don't. 68816419: |
The richest black kenyans are not listed - because they are mostly politicians - the Kenyatta & Moi family can ran circle around Dangote. But they don't want it mentioned because they've hidden their wealth through lawyers & nominee accounts. 68816419: |
Remove Oil from Nigeria - and you've nothing. All the guys who have made money are those who've grabbed themselves some Oil field. 68816419: |
Please not the cooked GDP again ![]() 68816419: |
Exactly - and that is Nigeria only hope. NairobiWalker: |
Please the ignorant bozo didn't know that. Okay Kenya is also sending student to study in Cuba but what we are embarking on is ambitious plan to ensure we completely revamp our public healthcare. The first business is to ensure everyone has a medical insurance - this is probably Africa first. obaaderemi: |
You're ignorant. Like most Nigerias. Cuba has the best medical health care for a country of it's size and it's development. I am suprised you guys don't even know that? The Cubans are some of world most sough out doctors - while you think OIL bring forex - CUBA most VALUABLE EXPORT - is medical practitioners - and trust me - they make more money than Nigeria. And so if you're looking for something - to take you out of the Oil misery - you have head-start - nigeria physician are not badly off - and this is where you need to copy CUBA. The CUBA health-care systems is simply the BEST in the world. And it's a developing country. And that is what KENYA is busy doing...being a developing country doesn't stop you from having the best electricity (24-7), best medical care (like cuba), the best infrastructure, and the best banking! https://elpais.com/elpais/2017/02/10/inenglish/1486729823_171276.html CUBA stats Life expectancy at birth 79 (years) 2012 Life expectancy at age 60 22 (years) 2012 Fertility rate 1.4 (children born/woman) 2013 Number of live births 107.1 (thousands) 2013 Maternal mortality ratio 80 (per 100,000 live births) 2013 Under-five mortality rate 6 (deaths/1,000 live births) 2013 Number of deaths 95.9 (thousands) 2013 Deaths due to HIV/AIDS 2.6 (per 100,000 population) 2012 Total health expenditure per capita 2,475 (Intl $) 2014 Total health expennditure as % of GDP 11.1 2014 Danielnino00: |
Yeah - I conceded the physician density to Nigeria- not that it's matters.Meanwhile the first Cuban doctors arrive in July https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/news/First-batch-of-Cuban-doctors-to-arrive-July/539546-4488018-fmk5ki/index.html I think if Uhuru pulls the universal health Insurance (ensuring everyone has NHIF - and NHIF covers in/outpatient & all treatment) - then he would have pulled out 5-10% of kenyans out of poverty - in 5 yrs. Every yr about 2% of our people sink to poverty because of misfortune of having one or two family members hospitalized. If NHIF can be able to control say 1$B annually in premiums - then that would provide huge & regular financing to public and private hospitals - and we will see huge investment all over the country in hospitals. There will be no need to turn away anybody from an hospital (except maybe foreigners) or to hold onto them until they pay. Of the big 4 - I am excited about this one - and I think it the easiest to pull. Manufacturing and Housing - are not easy stuff. Also Food Security is generally linked to poverty & there is very little we can do about semi-arid kenyans who will continue to starving - except accelerate social program - cash transfers. kikuyu1: |
Nigeria despite sending millions of their people as slave to US and many more who emigrate daily - have transferred the same low ambition thuggish lifestyle to US. Kenya harvard student gave US their first black president - while Nigeria gives the world drug dealers since the 15th century. Amhrest alumni talking to Harvard Alumni - while you elect Army bonobos like Buhair or Olesegun - our former president was London school of economics alumni -and Nigeria expect to move ahead with army bonobos. Sani Abach did quite a number in damaging Nigiera - and for the brief period of GoodLuck - it's been one army bonobo after another since 1960s..and you're suprised why you're UNDER-PERFORMING. https://s.newsweek.com/sites/www.newsweek.com/files/styles/full/public/2015/07/24/2015-07-24t175542z96743368gf10000169096rtrmadp3obama-africa-kenya.JPG |
Nigeria despite many bad Nollywood movies- has nothing on oscars Here is Yale alumni - Lupita Nyongo - brought up in Kenya -winning an oscar!! https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/03/03/article-0-1BFB871100000578-542_634x872.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_African_Academy_Award_winners_and_nominees |
Find me independent consumption & expenditure data - like says from Visa or master card. Anything that relies on COOKED LAGOS OR NIGERIA GDP will not fly with me. Daejoyoung: |
Nope.It coz kenyans are amongst Africa most-educated & savvy people. That is why Kenya is Africa most developed NON-MINERAL economy for long time. Kenyans don't depend on extractive industries - like gold or diamond or oil - but on their hard-work and ingenuity. Therefore there is very little some of these countries can tell us. Joburg has tonnes of gold. Nigeria is swimming in Oil. Luanda is also a sea of oil. Ghana has gold and oil now. What can they tell us...remove their extractive sectors and they are nothing. For a second year in a row, the Intelligent Community Forum recently named the Kenyan capital Africa’s “most intelligent” city, the only African city to feature on their shortlist of 21 cities throughout the world for 2015. Danielnino00: |
If they based this or weighted this based on Nigeria cooked GDP - then I am not surprised. Danielnino00: |
I know self-deprecating humour is coping mechanism but always remember Nigeria is the laughing stock of the world. The scum. See Angolians in 10yrs have turned around their country - portuguese in portugal are flocking it - but Nigeria despite having more oil than many middle east countries remain a true shithole - with many nigerians as of now making their way through sahara desert to Europe - just to escape Nigeria - many ending up as drug mules and sex workers. Lagos is mega-slum. Pictures posted here are enough proof. Nearly every Nigerian dream is to escape Nigeria and possibly never comeback! |
Skyscrapper is good indicator of how good a city - you know Manhattan and Newyork - Tokyo - and those great cities - nobody can waste a great city land by building slumscraper You know in Nariobi Land say in upper hill or Westland or City Center- such areas where skyscrappper are built cost 10M usd..or maybe 5 Billion NAIRA. Don't think someone can buy land for 5B naira and proceed to erect that tiny NAIRA slumskcrapper. Luanda has overtaken Nairobi. Now it just next to Cairo, Joburg and Durban. LAGOS the slum metropolis sit next to Kinshasa. Nairobi now the trend is for sky-crapper apartment blocks...leave alone GRADE A office blocks. Danielnino00: |
We've tried everything - malls, schools, universities, parks, forests, hotels, infrastructures, residential estates, night life, name it (let's ignore utilities like 24hrs power, water, sewage & broadband) - and Nigeria's Lagos come bottom. Well it wins BIG on cooked GDP. We can say Nigeri' GDP 10 - reality 0. That should make you happy. samsobo24: |
All you wealth is now held by one man - and he pays no taxes - if he paid taxes - annually Nigeria gov would get maybe 1B dollars from him.
