It dead on arrival. Kenya has to pursue east africa strategy. We focus on getting Ethiopia - we create 500M people market. You can keep Africa Trade in Accra. Ecowas doesnt even work. How will you make Africa free trade work. Its only kenya that has been pushing for it - as it only africa country to trade 50 percent within africa. Dead on arrival. The logistics alone are crazy - what will work is Open Skies. vaxx: |

It was a mistake to locate afCFTA in broke Ghana. You dont even know what need to be done to get it going. And you dont have what it takes. That should have been taken to Rwanda or Nairobi or Adis. vaxx: |
As we wait for electric train from Tanzania - Kenya SGR is carrying 2.5M passengers btw Nairobi-MSA annually.

The ideas that we now take as standards & for granted - we have to thank the French Revoluton of 1789 - when french peasant overthrew their king Louis, killed almost all the french elite and then defined a system that was going to be FAIR to everyone. This was the watershed moment for humanity. From ChatGP The French Revolution had a significant impact on human rights and constitutionalism, both in France and around the world. Here are some of the key ways in which it influenced these areas: Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen: The French Revolution produced a landmark document, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, which enshrined many of the principles of modern human rights. This document affirmed the equal rights of all citizens, including the right to liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression. Constitutions: The French Revolution gave rise to a series of new constitutions, which aimed to establish more democratic and representative forms of government. These constitutions often incorporated the principles of popular sovereignty and individual rights, and served as models for other countries seeking to create their own constitutions. International impact: The French Revolution had a profound impact on the development of international law and human rights. It inspired the creation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which works to protect the rights of prisoners of war and other vulnerable groups. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948, drew heavily on the principles of the French Revolution. Civil liberties: The French Revolution helped to promote the idea of civil liberties, including freedom of speech, the press, and religion. These freedoms are now widely regarded as fundamental rights in modern democratic societies. Separation of powers: The French Revolution played a key role in promoting the idea of the separation of powers, whereby different branches of government have distinct responsibilities and are able to check each other's power. This principle has become a cornerstone of modern constitutionalism. |
Two different concepts. Democracy Decentralization/Devolution/Federalism China has devolved dictatorship by CCP.Thankfully it mostly run by meritocracy. Democracy at core is what French Revolution gave humanity - Personal freedoms, human rights and equality. -Liberty, Equality, Fraternity - Liberté, égalité, fraternité There is nothing like that in China. You cant say or do or etc what you want. But again like I said - that has not stopped them from developing - because it has a well run devolved system of gov based on merit. Like USSR before - you can have efficient dictatorship - that quickly industralized Eastern Europe. Jerry Rawling in Ghana run such a system - but culled anyone who disagreed with him. Rwanda is now example of such an efficient dictatorship. You know better in Rwanda than talk politics - right from the airport you're being watched. Just40: |
Or very strong federalism. Either another Sani Abacha or you allow States basically to act as independent countries like US - with federal gov in Abuja only dealing with foreign affairs. Whatever is there is totally dysfunctional. popizaino: |

Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and of course most of middle east are example of dictatroship that transition into proper developed countries - and eventually build institutions. Dictatorship has nothing to do with development. China is good example of great dictatorship that has developed. They are NOT mutual exclusive. Yes of course democratic strong independent institution is great on its own but a country will not go down for lacking one. Ghana is good example - Jerry Rawlings - eventually transitioned you back into democracy - from military dictatorship. Rwanda has certain peculiarities that make democracy now and in the future difficult - as minority Tutsi at 10 percent - will simply be killed by 90 percent majority Hutus like happen in 1960s (sending Kagame to Uganda as small boy refugee) and in 1990s. Rwandese Tutsi have to find a formula of democracy that will work for them - popular vote is an existential threat to their very existence - and Kagame & his successor are likely to have tight control of institution - just like Isreal has to deal with Palestine in Isreal using crude methos. vaxx: |

I have gone to kigali and deep into rural Rwanda. Rwanda is real. The question of whether it can outlast Kagame is poignant. The same fate has befallen Ethiopia and South Africa. Yes, strong institutions are important. Kagame has done excellent job. He just need to find a succesor like him to the mantle forward. QuietMynd: |
some kenyan drove all the way from Nairobi to South africa through Angla to Zoogeria. Last I heard his car broke down in Zoogeria in place without even cellphone connectivity. We pray for him. Subsaharan: |

Great leaders have a lifelong commitment to learning Bill Gates In the fall of 2008, I transitioned from being full-time at Microsoft to full-time at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. After decades of focusing maniacally on software, I finally had the time to get a better grounding in physics, chemistry, biology, and other sciences, which would help me in my work on health, education, and climate change. I was also curious about all these subjects for their own sakes. So, I looked around for the best science books and read as many of them as I could find. Weather for Dummies was one of 25 titles I chose:

Obviously the last three days you've refused to take your medication. No house can be approved in Karen without paved road. Karen has the most powerful resident association - established in 1940s. For a long time, the min acreage was 5 acres - then 2 acres - now even 1/2 acre is allowed. https://klda.or.ke/ Just40: |

That is fair. Sometimes you can be reasonable. Magufuli had right intentions - he was just a fool when it come to running a country. He was a guy who knew nothing about economy. Good intentions. But high school science teacher with limited economic knowledge. Running a country requires someone to read and understand how many things work. For me I consider the late Meles Zenawi the epithome of Africa leader. Kagame and Museveni come next. Sankara maybe. I was not alive. All of the three never really read much as they went to war early - Meles left meds school to go fight - Museveni immediately after BA in Dars - went to the bush - Kagame I doubt has a degree- In kenya - Mboya was also self-read. What is important these are very serious leaders who are very committed to life long pursuit of learning. Ohoo I forget definitely Mandela and Khama of Botswana. Those are greatest leaders in sub Sahara africa. Mandela, Khama, Meles, Sankara? - all dead I would personally rank 1) Nelson Mandela 2) Meles Zenawi. These were African leader the rest of world including her leadership would stop, listen and admire their intellect and leadership. Mandela wins for being such a rare globally acclaimed charismatic leader while Zenawi wins for having highest IQ an African leader has ever possessed. Kids should be taught about these heros - not Kwames or Nyerere or Jomos - who later betrayed their country or messed up. Kazikazi:

Best part of accra - cantonment - look again like middle or lower middle class estate Just40: |
They are most serious leaders in Africa now - working 15hours daily - great thinkers - great executioners - great effective leaders. Magufuli with brains. Kazikazi: |
You have a long way to go in avacados. Kenya produces 300,000 - we just eat a whole lot of it. Those coming to TZ - were trying to beat the ban - imposed now on seasons. Kazikazi: |
That was Kenyatta and related families who had captured kenya industries. All those have been corrected. TZ has gotten his license. Uganda milk Latto are back in Kenya Kazikazi:

Conclusion: Prepare for DUMSOR https://www.myjoyonline.com/independent-power-producers-demand-payment-of-debts-or/ Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are demanding immediate payment of over one billion dollars owed them by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
