I knew the Bonobo was lying as usual. Wuoche: |
That is his modus operandi. Always looking at the bottom of the barrel to prop the min-Zoo! Wuoche: |
Precisely. Such data should be available easily in any functional country. Wuoche: |
Yes the same way Lagos has the most cars in the world. Traffic gridlock is sign of inefficiency in your roads. Nothing to do with cars. Removing roundabout and replacing them with 100M dollars (CRAZY) interchanges WILL NOT SOLVE the traffic problem. Use 100M to expand the road first - have service roads - and the work. What Ghana is doing is crazy putting lipstick on a pig - like that Pokuasi interchange. Just30: |
You have no credibility. I got the interchanges from Wikipedia Now put the link before we examine this list Just30: |
Ghana got donated by George Bush - a 14km six lane highway - that they named George Walker Bush highway- that has most of the 10 interchanges. Nothing more. Nothing less. Remove George Walker Bush - and you have tiny roads. African Traveller says their traffic grindlock 30kms from the central business district - the roads are tiny. Wuoche: |
They recently gave up on their ability to fix infrastructure - on their own. They have therefore given chinese minerals in exchange of infrastructure. The first in Africa. They admitted finally that there are BONOBOS. Wuoche: |
You have 10 interchange in the entire country - compared to kenya with maybe 150. End of debate. It's not even close . It like 15 times more.Just30: |
So why ask me shackman? 2016 - was already 10k Its Economic Survey 2016 reported a 6.8% rise in 2015 compared to the previous year in Kenya’s production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers. This includes a 7% rise in the number of motor vehicles assembled there, from 9,514 to 10,181 vehicles ; a 13.2% hike in production of trailers and semi-trailers; and a 1.3% increase in terms of motor vehicle bodies. AfriqueDuZuid: |
On average 15,000 units per year. Mostly trucks - lorries - commercial vehicles - otherwise few people will buy sedan or such. But yes trucks - make business sense - and financing is available. AfriqueDuZuid: |
He will disappear for sometime before re-emerging with same question. He is really spooked by Kenya progressive match forward. leQubit: |
Fitch - Ghana is B and Kenya is B+ but the Bonobo will not even now. leQubit: |
List the 20 interchanges in Accra. I have helped you with 10 - including TEMA. Nairobi expressway will give Nairobi very impressive expressways. Just30: |
You should ask South Africa gov the same question. South Africa total revenues are 90B. Your budget is now nearly 140B. Ask your gov where it will get 50B. While I ask our gov where it will get 10B with revenues of 22B. AfriqueDuZuid: |
3 out of 10 That is like Nakuru or Kisumu county Nairobi Metro is clocking 100 interchanges.Nakuru county alone has 4 interchanges - 1) Naivasha 2) Lanet/Nyahuru 3) Njoro and 3) Mau summit Njoro Interchange https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT2wEAqNqyU Just30: |
Entire Ghana interchanges - 10 ![]() Ako Adjei Interchange Apenkwa Interchange Asafo Interchange Asokwa Interchange Dimples Interchange Mallam Interchange Sofoline Interchange Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Kwame Nkrumah Interchange Tema Motorway Interchange Pokuase Interchange Wuoche: |
Yes it kind of dumping but without developed domestic car market people prefer reliable japanase models; Cars are transported on RORO ships - well you can squeeze some in container - but generally RORO - mean nearly all cars pay the same freight. About 1,000usd from Japan to Mombasa inclusive insurance. AfriqueDuZuid: |
We borrow 10B and repay 10B dollars. South Africa have budget deficit of 6.8% Kenya has budget deficit of 7.1% That mean kenya and south africa have similar budget deficit. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Don't worry. I told you our standards and class is a little too subtle for a bonobo - monkey see monkey do. Just30: |
That makes us the most credit worthy nation on earth. And we don't have to collaotrize it with minerals and cocoa like Ghana. Who does that...borrow from China and give them farmers COCOA as security. And worse you've given them all your bauxite ![]() Just30: |
Shackman - it simply not possible to import a car for anything less than 5K USD. 1K usd alone is frieght from Japan to Mombasa. Minimum taxes for cheapest Suzuki is about 1,500k. Just not possible.I used to sell cars - the cheapest I could import then was 4Kusd. Now Uber and all digital taxis have made these small cars very expensive. Average used 8yr old imported car in kenya is more than 10K usd now. AfriqueDuZuid: |
How do you cook budget shackman? You can cook GDP - but budget is MONEY in the BANK almost (it projected money in the bank) AfriqueDuZuid: |
Kenya rich are NOT OBOHOS or BONOBOS to go exposing themselves. Big difference. Kenya upper class have a sophisticated taste from West African bonobo who saw money recently. Vintage cars in kenya have long history - imported in 1940s in kenya - and the works. You cannot for example import a junk vintage car to kenya - IT NOT ALLOWED - all cars have to be 8yrs OLD (NO EXCEPTIONS). You can do that in Uganda or Tanzania - Not in Kenya. So the vintage in Kenya are really vintage - passed down in family- and during motorshow - competitors come from south africa, australia and abroad. Just30: |
I said average - some of them are more expensive than that. A used Prado will set you for 5M kshs- 50,000usd. Land cruiser it will cost you 70,000usd. Typical Toyota 2.0 engine starts from 20,000usd. SUV - would around 20-30k. German SUV would be 30-40k. Average - is the standard car or sedan - like Toyota Corrola - 8yr old ex-japan cost more than 10,000K. But some people import the tiny Uber type cars - that cost average 7-8K usd. So they are not cheap. All kenya imported cars have to 1) under 8yrs 2) pass stringent pre-export certification and then 3) you pay 100% taxes - VAT,Excises, import duty. AfriqueDuZuid: |
You can import junk abroad anytime; but real vintage cars like those in Nairobi Concours de' elagance - have long history, verification and all that. None of those would be certified as anything but JUNK. Just30: |
You were really desperate for some validation. Poor African Traveller. Just30: |
It same problem - brain drain - has left the country full of Bonobo. The natural resource curse has also killed other industries. leQubit: |
Bonobo - we are used to your wild figures! Ghana bought 4,000 new cars. Kenya did 11K - in 2020. 150K cars - maybe if you include OKADA. Just30: |
The average cost of used car in kenya is more than 10,000 usd. The taxes are not based on CIF value of the japanase car - but depricated value of old car. Taxes generally are more than value of the car. I see the average new car in South Africa is about 20K usd. Yes Kenya need to fix that....those 100K cars are jobs exported to Japan....but roads need to really improve before we get new cars.. The poor rural road will reduce the value of new car so people are hesistant to go for loans for new car. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Kenya not only lack minerals - it's semi-arid and arid. These countries have everything imaginable. The amount of arable land is staggering. The minerals too. Nigeria export with great difficulties 2M barrel a day. That is daily 100M dollars...1B dollars in 10 days....40B annually if sold at rock bottom 50 dollars a barrel. As for Ghana - well that one is hopeless - they export about 8B worth of GOLD - and another 8B show up smuggled from their country ![]() leQubit: |
Nigeria will be lucky to present a 25B budget. Last year they did 24B. Little zoo- Ghana are still at 17B..with 10B revenues (nearly all from minerals)...with debt to GDP - now probably 100% ![]() leQubit: |
