I am desperately trying to help level the ground - 60ksm in any direction from Nairobi - no Ghana estate can compete. The Nairobi proper is giving South Africans headache. Heck why not even compete with say NAKURU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud8dAk_zW28 Appisko: |
As you look for East Legon - here is Kitengala - 30-40kms from Nairobi CBD - Nairobi metro. Correction this Kitengala - Isinya - 40km to 60kms form Nairobi CBD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYGjV5un2Lc |
Way better than East Legon or anything in Nigeria outside say VI. That is the point. If you disagree bring a video evidence. Kitengela part - just need paved roads - your cities almost need Jesus christ. 68816419: |
Akosombo electricity company staff houses is all you can pride yourself.East Legon cannot compete with Kitengala. Easy bring the best of east legon - and I give the best of Kitengela. Just30: |
The definition of slums varies. Slumscrapper are slum. KANO is a slum. Please check UNHABITAT. Nairobi slums - these total shanties - iron roof west africa kind - the biggest Kibera has maybe 150K people - then Mathare - name them - max would be about 600K people. Now Eastland (including all slums except for Kibera/Kangemi - few slums on west side of Nairobi)- Concrete jungle of Nairobi - slumscrappers - 2 out 3 Nairobi live here - about 3M out 4.5M of Nairobi. Umoja, Roysambu, Pipeline - are concrete slums. The definition is based on DEVELOPED CITY STANDARDs. NOT nigeria standards. You entire cities are slumspolis..99%. 68816419: |
East legon cannot even compare to the dust bowl of Kitengela - that is 30-40kms from Nairobi city center https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7eA2ftgJzg |
Give us the best best video of East Legon. You're just ignorant. Nairobi - slums occupy 2 % of the land mass. Concrete Jungle follow - I'd say they occupy less than 10% - they are high rises and can take huge population. Both slums and concrete jungles are near CBD/Industrial area/ High class residence - because they are walking distance to where they can find work or school. They provide labor for business district, industrial area and the upper class. The suburbs - Nairobi middle and high class - they are outside - but within city radius - damn expensive - rundas/karen/ - they occupy huge part of Nairobi - Karen alone is so big. Nairobi middle/upper class - low residence are huge....definitely more than 50% of Nairobi. Nairobi metro (outside the city limits of 1960s) - these low residences (suburbs) - these are anything outside 20kms radius from Nairobi CBD - and extend to 60kms. Heck even estates 50kms from Nairobi - in Nairobi metro are better than east legon. Nairobi metro is huge - some part of it - peri-urban - and they are mostly low residence. For example - Kiambu county - Nairobi metro - look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5Nud_-bxrc Go to even Ongata rongai or Kitengela or even 60kms in Konza city. Just30: |
They're? Who are they? Your friend just compared KPA revenues with customs revenues collected by Nigeria Customs - theenchanter: |
I doubt any state would be allowed to collect CUSTOMS. Don't be a fool Yes VAT and PAYE - we can talk - but Customs - has to be federal Don't confuse port charges with customs. Shaytun: |
When we post little small areas of Nairobi that are not posh; you think you can compete ![]() Nairobi I keep telling you - again - and again - 2/3 of it - are out of rich of anything outside south africa. The high rises you see - is because of zoning laws. Otherwise if you check low rise of Nairobi - with world class buildings - it's HUGE. There is a reason why low class areas are crammed. It's zoning laws. Just30: |
I wish it was same - kenya beat them. The country is just Chad or Congo or Niger or CAR or South Sudan. UNDER DEVELOPED. Except for maybe a little of southern part. The North is just wilderness. Wuoche: |
That was mostly due to Corona..otherwise KRA would collect anything 6-7B dollars from customs. PAYE take a lion share. Then VAT. The giants stories - well - we know them. Most of them got raw deal education wise. Very OBTUSE. I was wondering how Lagos port complex would beat Mombasa when their throughput is less ![]() Wuoche: |
Now I understand the confusion ![]() Custom - KRA - IRS/FIRS KPA - collect levies for offloading your container...they don't levy taxes - mainly the fees for offshoring and storing the container until you pick. Kenya custom duties are collected KRA. Let me help you. KRA collected last month 1.6 billion dollars. Out of which 600M dollars came from custom duties. Now start to use your brain here - for a change - 600M times 12 - is nearly 8B dollars (*7.2). TWICE NIGERIA. Forget about African giant nonsense https://www.the-star.co.ke/business/kenya/2021-01-17-kra-upbeat-as-it-surpasses-december-tax-targets/ Ports - in modern countries - deal strictly with handling fee - In kenya it's a little over 200-300 dollars for every container - doesn't matter the value of the container - it's standard - based on weight and size of what you're importing - to deal with mechanics of moving it from ship to your truck. Then you move to Customs - where you pay duty based on the value of whatever you're importing. Taxes - are PAYE+VAT+Customs mostly. Ports - they charge handling fee - the cranes and storage fees - if you delay. Shaytun: |
Still better than your slumpolis. Just30: |
Remove Gujaratis - and what do you have left in India - poor people openly defecating and worshipping cows - and 1000 gods - majority codemned to lifetime as slaves - to higher caste. Justnotyou: |
Of course. Always. You poor failed attempt at sacrasm will not fill the void. Bring facts. Show us how you world worst ports are performing. Mombasa right now is neck on Durban in efficiency. A ship docks, and within 24hrs, it's be unloaded, container put on the train, and has reached Nairobi dry port. The next morning it's a customer door...having covered 500kms. Now Nigeria - by time the ships overcome the Nigeria deep sea slums....then get to unload..the go through your roads ....the guy in Abuja will get his container about 2 months. And the container will have been opened and many things stolen. Most Nigerians prefer even to go to Contonu in Benin. theenchanter: |
Most African have dealt with Guajarati's - who Indian merchant class - and very enterprising lot - like the jews - the other Indias are crap. Therefore the respect we give India - as great businessmen - is really Gujeratis. The others are just openly defacting serving their master class and worship cattle. Africa will overtake India - because India caste system - will forever condemn it's under-class. Unless they revolt. Justnotyou: |
Fact Mombasa port is now 4th biggest port in Africa - 2nd in Sub-Sahara - only 2nd to Durban port. Mombasa handles more than 35M metric tonnes (1.5M TEUS). Durban does about 70M (about 2.7M TEUS). Apapa and TinCan each do not reach 1M TEUS. Kenya now has two huge dry ports. Nairobi dry port and huge Naivasha dry port. Nigeria will get here in 2050. Phase 1 of Lamu deep sea port is ready for business. theenchanter: |
Yes if you consider India has 1.3B people - it's underperforming - and is not very different from Africa. India GDP per capita is mere 2000. That is Kenya level. China can talk - India should shut up - until pull themselves out of poverty. If you go to Mumbai or New Delhi - the stench of raw sewage will hit you right at the Airport. Open defecation everywhere. Cattle everywhere. Poor people begging everywhere. Justnotyou: |
Again trying the usual Nigeria nonsense. Mombasa port handles more cargo than Apapa and Tin Can combined. KPA revenues are nearly 500M annually. Now show us Nigeria port revenues. theenchanter: |
Your country - South Africa - has not grown economically the last 10yrs - and is very likely not to grow the next decade. 10yrs ago - therefore it very unlikely any real property boom is going on. What you ridding on is the old stuff built by the last generation - your current generation are mostly stupid, lazy and into crime. AmenhotepZuid: |
Just30:Your mental deficiency doesn't mean you don't have a brain..its just not functioning as it ought.Housing is basic need.Even a bird has nest.Every human being has some form of housing including slums. THAT HOUSING DEFICIT. YOU HAVE 2M HOUSEHOLD WITHOUT ELECTRICITY.That is 10m out of 30m Ghanaian..entire Rwanda. .You have maybe housing deficit of 25m..people living in rat infested hovels and lucky for you eating them. You have roads that look like moon surface..that is infrastructure deficit. |
Ghana is Nigeria with electricity...and not so horrible English pronunciation. Everything else is the same. Shma2020: |
Seriously speaking even them footballers cannot afford. I think you don't quite understand Nairobi property market. They are places reserved for real old money. Land alone start at 1M dollars plus..cheapest...some areas 5m dollars. And if it has height restriction...and number of unit per area...you cannot just build what you like in Nairobi. Approval of plans is BIG deal. Without it - Nairobi would be Cairo. SO much money popizaino: |
I think misuse and corruption is the problem - so definitely should be included in gov inspection unit - you cannot take GK on a roadtrip. Otherwise I would advice buy a new BUs - get warranty of 3yrs or some 100Kms. It very unlikel the school will exhaust the warranty - 100,000kms is a lot - if bus is strictly used for school purpose. Then dump the bus before expiry of the warranty period - exchange for new one. That way - always the school bus is under warranty kikuyu1: |
The way your argue like 4yr old kid - no kenyan can do that. You're busy in dars...while you have two times kenya out there. Mombasa is building now longer rail than anything you got. We build stuff faster...and more quality. Tanzania - please - you're NOTHING to us...just a footnote. We can even respect Ugandans. Definitely Rwandese, and now Ethiopians, Tanzania - you just know witchcraft. Kazikazi: |
Maybe they are special Ghana blinkers we need to wear to perceive them. All we have seen honestly underwhelming. By time a Kenyan say you're worse than Tanzania - then indeed you're very bad. Tanzania is our SI unit for Laziness. vankelvin: |
Not in our lifetime - will your lazy bones - become better than Kenya. Impossible. Kazikazi: |
UN Habitat define the slums. Trust me having worked for UN - your cities are slumpolis UN-Habitat maintains its headquarters at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya. It is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. It is a member of the United Nations Development Group. vankelvin: |
This for example is example of what you find in Nairobi slumscrapper...SLUM BY DEVELOPED WORLD standard...very developed by West African standards. Heck your president could bootleg it and present is as Vison 2050 for GHANA - BEYOND AID ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJszTA8xiP0 |
The definition of a slum differs. Your entire city to me is slum except for very few areas. Nairobi is METROPOLIS. Accra, Lagos, Kano, Ibandan are SLUMPOLIS. Nairobi is GLOBAL HQ of UN HABITAT - so it's pretty much well studied for slums. Nigeria - 100% slum - without constant electricity. Kibera - every household has constant electricity- and water supply. Their only problem - housing wise - is actually very little. vankelvin: |
Another part of Nairobi Eastland - Better than anything in Nigeria and Accra outside Victoria Island. This is kariobangi/Dandora....use to be the criminal center of Nairobi. But unlike South African sizzies - Kenya Police are killing machines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVNM8N-QnZw |
