Your entire cities are iron-rusted shanties. The worse kind of urban sprawl.
If you need video evidence let me know.
Just40:
sorry kid

You wont find such slum of pitiable buildings anywhere in West Africa.

In West Africa, when we decide to live in flats, it is classic flats and not such pitiable misery.

Your middle class live in such slums, it's no wonder that The poor lives in an even worse situation

Yes when they fix their electricity - they can re-join the debate.

Nigerians should be the last ones talking about infrastructure. lipsrsealed
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182: 12:06pm On Jan 26, 2021
Please there is nothing Nigeria can teach us. Please deal with basic like Electricity. Before you go to other infrastructure. Please for god sake FiX electricity and shut up...and listen to your generator din.

Let South Africans patronize us.

What will a Nigeria, a Tanzanian and Ghanian REALLY TELL UShuh??

68816419:
I will have to agree with u on the bolded statement above , u r now reminiscing on what we have been saying all this while, your government should stop developing the already built up areas of the county, build infrastructures arround the so called Greater Nairobi and not places been built by the colonial Masters. Lagos , Kaduna, PH and Abuja are doing just this, Lagos is about building the largest bridge in Africa, tagged the "4th Mainland bridge, the bridge is been built around poor area of the state . New airport, sea ports, Industries and free trade zones, all these infrastructures are been built far away from Lagos city centers.

Most modern cities have such apartments; TO AVOID WEST AFRICA URBAN SPRAWL OF low rises slums.
These apartments mean everyone in Nairobi is not so far from CBD and their place of work.
And we are just started. Nairobi need a million units of such high rise apartments.
Just40:
I heard, 60% of Kenyans live in those terrible slum apartment at Eastlands

grin grin grin grin

That is really depressing
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182: 11:56am On Jan 26, 2021
Pictures of your apartments; Nairobi leads I bet by far.
jl115:
But in reality Johannesburg has the most after Cairo wink
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182: 8:52am On Jan 26, 2021
The difference is now minimal. You just need to look at videos. Picture test. Nairobi is growing very fast.

High rises - Nairobi I believe will overtake Joburg very very soon if it hasn't already.

Roads.
By next year - with completion of Nairobi Expresseway - Valley Road/Upperhill expansion with interchanges - Western By-Pass - James Gichuru-Rironi - the expansion of Eastern and Northern by-passes- the road infrastructure will be a few notches below Joburg. From there - I can only think about expanding very few roads - Kiambu, Limuru, Kamiti,Kangundo, maybe ABC - through Lavington. Nairobi would be there in roads.

BRT - we are getting about 60Km of BRT next year

Light rail - we have decent old MGR line that is being modernized - if we get more DMUs - we would be about there.
Nairobi Railway City - and in the future - a proper light rail - will nail it.

Nairobi is fixing the water problem - at least huge part - with completion of Nairobi North Collector project. Sewage still is a problem.

Telecommunication - broadband - and likes - Nairobi has already overtaken Joburg.

Also if we get housing fixed - with social housing to replace slums and old estates - then Nairobi will be untouchable in Sub-Saharan Africa - South Africans will be come to see a modern city

As for Nairobi metro - there is huge infrastructure deficit there - it will be another 10-15yrs before Nairobi metro compete with Gauteng.

Kenyans have tried their best to build real estate - but paved roads are lacking, sewage system absent, water mostly boreholes, and there is no railway and mass transport - we need to invest heavily in Nairobi Metro - because those county gov cannot prioritize Nairobi metro over rural areas of the counties.

Justnotyou:
We already discussed this previously, Johannesburg's gdp ppp isn't useful a measure when compared to the nominal gdp of Nairobi.

Guateng's gdp is realistically at or around 90 to 150, billion dollars. Admittedly within range of Kenya's GDP.

Nairobi & Johannesburg unlike your previous assertions are within the same range on paper, there is no need for Nairobi to catch up.

Guateng>> Johannesburg or Nairobi, Johannesburg= Nairobi, get it? When it comes to infrastructure they're quite similar already. you had the total paved roads of Johannesburg at >9000km & according to this account bellow Nairobi is already at >7000 km of paved roads, there is a functional metro rail system that's currently getting upgraded in nairobi while you have your guatrain, joburg guys have the city deep dry port while Nairobi has a dry port, Brt system is on course in nairobi while it's present in joburg, add other amenities that are only accessible to one, Nairobi has a National Park, Nairobi is the most dynamic city in Africa.

The only way you're having a debate is on which is better, & we'll rationally get to

Joburg wealth> Nairobi wealth
Joburg gdp nominal= or slightly> Nairobi metro gdp nominal
Joburg gdp per capita nominal> Nairobi MgdpPc
Nairobi metro dry port complex> city deep
guatrain> Nairobi metrorail
Joburg roads> Nairobi roads
Joburg retail space = or slightly > Nairobi retail space
Joburg real-estate= or slightly > Nairobi estate
Nairobi recreational space> joburg recreational space
Education Joburg= or slightly> Nairobi
Security Nairobi> Joburg
Dynamic Nairobi> Joburg
Healthcare Nairobi> Joburg
Health facilities Joburg> Nairobi
QOL Joburg> Nairobi
Skyline Nairobi> Joburg imo
Skyscraper/high-rise Joburg> Nairobi
Nightlife Joburg= or slightly > Nairobi

They're not that distant from each other, just one might seem a lil more impressive for now.

WB used experimental metholodgy - night light data. Nairobi at minimum contribute 30% if not 50% of the country GDP.

Gauteng GDP - $140 billion
Johannesburg GDP - $ 76 billion
Kenyan GDP - $ 95 Billion
Nairobi GDP - $ 20 Billion (according to the WB Nairobi only contributes 21% to Kenya's GDP)

That shows Ghana education is totally crap.

The usual cries. Nairobi city as of 1960 is 696 km². That is old Nairobi boundaries defined in 1963- with about 20% occuppied by National animal park and forests. The rest is built up. Slums occupy 2% of the land mass - 5% of the built up area.

Nairobi Metro - is huge. It extends about 40-60kms radius from Nairobi center.

That is built up area - that is 10,000Kms square plus. If you include the non-built up - it's 32K.

That is very huge. And now has close to 10Million people. That is the size of Gauteng (10m people - 18K sq kms).

68816419:
Same way you could tour the entire Nairobi CBD, Upperhill, west land in less than 5 munites
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182:
You just compared Nairobi to Accra - that show you're desperate insane man.
Johannesburg GDP is not equal to Kenya.
Gauteng GDP at best was 130B - or so
And Joburg is about half of that - 50-70B
Nairobi GDP is about that - 45-50B - about 1/3-1/2 Kenya's GDP.

Next excuse.

Your dead city is not growing.

Nairobi is growing very very fast. When you're building one house - Nairobi is building almost 20.

jl115:
when did I mention Ghana?

Johannesburg has a GDP larger than Kenya

New buildings are popping up all over Johannesburg bru

Kenya first has to catch Gauteng wrt Road infastructure.... Never mind Nairobi

The real estate market in Johannesburg alone is worth more than the entire Kenyan real estate market

I see you're looking for Ghanian support - that clearly shows you're struggling.

Gautrain, road upgrades - that is like 10yrs before the world cup. Joburg is pretty much a dead city - save for little activity in Sandton.

The picture of Joburg CBD has remain stagnant for like 20-30yrs now. DEAD CITY.

Nairobi has nearly overtaken joburg in terms of real estates - and many areas.

In next 10 months - I mean by 2022 - Nairobi will have caught up with road infrastructure almost.

What will remain is electric train - otherwise Nairobi has 30K passengers per day DMUS

jl115:
Actually Johannesburg has had major upgrades...... Gautrain, BRTs, road upgrades...... So yeah

Also once Nairobi has caught Accra..... Or maybe when Kenya has caught Johannesburg.... Then we'll talk wink
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182: 10:55pm On Jan 25, 2021
Gauteng is a province.
We are talking Joburg and Nairobi.
Nairobi - nobody really has the data for Nairobi City roads.
The data we have are mostly - Highways, and what we call urban and rural roads.
Nairobi - nobody has gone to measure the paved roads done by county gov, estates and such.
It's requirement to pave the road before you can build estate or house.
What I know for a fact nearly 90% of all Nairobi roads are paved.
jl115:
@rvp20182

Gauteng road paved network(EXCLUDING SANRAL roads): 27000+Kms

981 high schools are public and a lot of them run Tivet programs along their high school courses.

Compare Accra in real estate to Nairobi is an abuse of the word.
vankelvin:
Infact you are the sub-Kenyan on this page.

Comparing outskirt development to a fully developed estate in your country? this goes to show how underdeveloped your country is.

Why don't you compare the proper East Legon community to your estates?
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182: 10:42pm On Jan 25, 2021
So we are just here to discuss buses that one constitutuency in kenya can have - 100 buses - that a MP handles. Nearly every of kenya 10,000 high schools have buses. Day school inclusive. And many primary schools too.
Just30:
Junior school schools like primary schools do not need school buses because they are community-based.
All though a lot of them have, They are usually provided by PTA or community-based organization for sporting activities
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182: 10:39pm On Jan 25, 2021
Those are stale news. In next 1 yr or 10 months - when Nairobi Expressway is done. James Gichuru-Rironi. Nairobi Western By-Pass. Nairobi's expansion of Kenyatta Avenue to Valley are done. Ngong road expansion. Nairobi will be there in road infrastructure with Joburg. All these roads will include crazy interchanges...and many lanes...

In just one year - let's talk in 2022 - and road infrastructure of Nairobi - will be as good as joburg.

Next we will just need a gautrain.

jl115:
The tarred road network in Gauteng alone is more than the entire tarred road network in Kenya........
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp20182: 10:34pm On Jan 25, 2021
The only part that look like kenya middle class is front with road - the rest look like Ongata Rongai or Kitengal.

Go for eye surgery

Nairobi more than half it's land mass has posh estates - I'd start from Thome - Garden Estate - Ridgeway - Runda - Muthaiga - Kabete - name them- all the way to Karen - that is HUGE.

That is almost 30 by 20kms of high class residence that you can never afford rent.

I haven't touched middle class residence - where you also cannot afford.

Leave alone lower middle class.

East Legon looks like lower middle class somewhere in Nairobi metro - not within Kiambu - but in East of Nairobi

Just30:
East Legon is not an estate

Its an entire community with over 300,000 people and the entire area has paved roads.

Next excuse for why Runda, Karen and there rest cant look that good grin grin

Nairobi will be home then for the tallest everything; the road infrastructure will have already caught up. And the real estate too. Maybe the mall space - but in few years - Nairobi will have close the gap.

How many SHS are public - and same with TIVET. 200?
Every Mp in Kenya has maybe 30-50 schools.
Most try to get them buses.
In kenya buses are mostly stuff for Mps and parents - not national gov.
vankelvin:
Sometimes I feel you are an animal cos you keep measuring Ghana with your God forsaken standards. Things work differently in Ghana.

In Ghana, SRC, PTA, Assembly, Old Students etc can buy buses/vehicles for their school but it is compulsory for Government to buy vehicles for all Public SHS and Tertiary institutions.

Every Government ensures that they buy as many cars as possible for public schools within their 4year term.
