CultureRe: Are Ibos Jealous Of The Success Of Lagos? by s3nn2x(m): 12:29am On Jul 24, 2011
To say the least, this is a very funny thread. How can u say that the igbos are jealous of Lagos. Who owns lagos for goodness sake if not the Igbos. Forget the fact that lagos is a yoruba state bot how many indegenous lagosian are there. Do u knw the amount of tribes you'd find in lagos. Nobody is jealous of Lagos, maybe she is just pissed off with the fact that the yorubas are so tribalistic that they usually refuse to speak english to a non-yoruba person even if they know how to speak english language and they know the person cannot speak Yoruba. The fact still remains that lagos was the former administrative capital of Nigeria and the acclaimed commercial capital of Nigeria and the foremost gateway into the country. If not for anything, but for the visitors that are coming to the state for the first time. BTW, I was born and bred in lagos, my family stays in lagos and I schooled in lagos but i am originally from Abia, so, I know what I am talking about. the girl had a genuine reason for complaining.
CultureRe: Urhobo Waado. by s3nn2x(m): 12:00am On Jul 24, 2011
Although, I am not an Urhobo person, but I choose to associate with the Urhobo people. Thank God for NYSC, I was posted to the only Urhobo community in Bayelsa state called Ofoni. I will neva forget the place at all, I also learnt little Urhobo, pardon my spellings, minguo, frendo, digwe kevwe, oshare, ochina, omote, omotete, kidia, mudia and so on. One love!
CultureRe: Learning Igbo Language Online? by s3nn2x(m): 11:26pm On Jul 23, 2011
It seems I am not the only one that cannot speak or even understand the language. The problem with Nigerians and fellow Igbo brothers is that when they find out that you vannot speak igbo, they will distance themselves from you and you would be regarded as an outcast, they will not deem it fit to even put you thru in the language, all they know is just to insult you. I served in bayelsa state and where i was posted to, they were mostly igbos and yoruba, being that i grew up in lagos and that I understand more of Yoruba, i related with the yoruba more because the Igbos did not consider me as their brothers. if they were counting igbo there they will not include me and if they we also counting yoruba i would not be included, I was seen more as an outcast. that was why that thruout my stay in that place i was nt really close to any igbo person until in the last few months that i was in the place.
I have tried to learn the language, I find it very difficult to understand the language and to pronounce some words even when I had a corper tutor in that place, everyday, i went to his house and he put me thru in the basic igbo, I was tought for about 4 months and the guy had to stop putting me thru, he was of the opinion that i have not shown any sign of learning the language. it is not my fault, i made it a point to duty to read the igbo books i had and the lesson note he gave me, but it did not seem to enter. As at the moment i am very disgouraged to learn the language based on the insults i do receive from fellow Igbo brothers and my inability to retain igbo words. Does anybody have a solution, all those websites that people are puttin gon this thred are plain useless, Is there anywhere we can get a software or application on igbo language so we can be able to learn it. I REALLY WANT OT LEARN THE LANGUAGE.
CrimeRe: Woman With 7 Babies born in 12 months Charged with Child Trafficking by s3nn2x(m): 10:57pm On Jul 23, 2011
It is totally impossible for the woman to have given birth to the babies in the one year duration she claims. 7 babies for goodness sake, it is not as if she gave birth to them at once, even her husband has distanced himself from the palavar. To make matters worse, the woman is a 'pastor'. Thank God for modern technology and investigative journalism, the Vanguard Newspaper has been following up on the story and they made provision for DNA test to be carried out, and according to preliminary findings based on Saturday Vanguard, July 23, 2011, it shows that the woman is not the mother of the babies. The full result would be published next week. it is a wonder why people are desperate to get children and they would go to any lenght possible to do that, why can't Nigerians embrace adoption, it is safer and better than stealing children.

NYSCRe: Corpers' Lodge: Ask Questions & Share Your NYSC Experience by s3nn2x(m): 1:16am On Jul 23, 2011
I served in Bayelsa state, precisely in ofoni town in Sagbama L.G.A. Serving in Ofoni was really fun, even if there was no basic social amenity like light, g.s.m network, portable water and so on. The place is only accessible by water. I passed out on the 16th of June 2011, which made me a batch b corps members. The one year i spent in Bayelsa was the most funfilled of all my life even if I grew up in Both Lagos and Abuja. I was posted to a secondary school, so, I was really close to my students. I got lots of plantain, garri, rabbit etc, meaning that I got a lot of foodstuffs.
Although, the place was totally underdeveloped, the corps members made it funfilled. Every night we usually have 'fellowship' where we discuss on current issues in the form of a parliament. We had a chairman, speaker, chairlady, women leader, minister of women affairs and kokolets etc.
I really had fun in NYSC, and It's been more that a month that I left Ofoni but I always dream of going back in order to continue the fun we usally have. The consolation i have is that it is a neccessity to go for NYSC and to leave after a year to face the Nigerian state.
