Synlab is okay. Please can you update us about your travel on Sunday? If the test is still required for fully vaccinated people?
Safe trip.

I am not traveling to the UK at the moment. I just felt that I would get the information here because I have been following this thread

Please, I have a 7am flight from Lagos on Sunday and I plan to do the test on Friday. It would be appreciated if anyone could recommend a reliable Covid-19 test centre in Lagos that can release the result within 24 hours. Thank you.

Hello s3nn2x,

Sorry if I may ask; is there anything wrong with obtaining UK degree through UNICAF scholarship/Learning?

Please, your response is highly sort-after as this will enable me make decision, thank you.

I don't know much about UNICAF. Is it directly from UNICAF or through one of the affiliated institutions like Liverpool John Moores University? I don't think there is anything wrong with it. As long as it is accredited.

am just thinking may be some employers may not accept an online degree, or not value it like they well a traditional degree. Even if the online is not written on the certificate, at some point they may find out. i have not started working yet, just doing business, and traveling a lot, so an online degree will allow me to study, and continue my business at the same time.

Well, if you are really concerned you can do your masters in a Nigerian institution. However, I feel that as long as the institution is accredited and recognized, you shouldn't have issues with employers or further studies. Or do you feel that NOUN certificates are not respected because it is not a conventional university?
Besides, Covid-19 is a perfect excuse to give for doing the masters online. A number of people studied online last year and some are still studying online.

Respected in what way?

I also intend to do a masters online but haven’t decided on the UK University, it would be either Oxford Brookes or Kings College London, depending on some personal issues.

As for me, I already have a job and don’t intend to change it. The masters is also related to the job. I don’t think there is any reason why the masters wouldn’t be respected because it is usually the same certificate issued to those that studied in person.

My response is based on the assumption that the certificate is issued by the institution directly and not through other institutions like UNICAF.

Spencatrading20:
I have a conference to attend in USA in july 2021, it was supposed to be in 2020 but for the pandemic, now they have rescheduled it for july 2021. I am a civil servant and will be sponsored by Federal Govt. I will be presenting a research paper on climate change at the conference, my worry is getting an visa appointment date earlier than my scheduled travel date. I also want to know if it is possible for me to initiate the filling of D160 form and get a reference number, use it to book for interview and then come back and complete the D160 form and submit. Please i need advise.

Since the government will be sponsoring you to attend the conference in your official capacity as a civil servant, why can’t the government (your organization) help you process your visa through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja. If you do that, you wouldn’t even need to go for an interview and you’d get your visa within weeks if not days, all things being equal. I think the visa you should be applying for is A1/A2 or G1/G2. Anyway, my comment is based on the assumption that you are talking about a major international conference, which I doubt any international organization would be hosting in-person in the middle of a pandemic.

Travel / Re: How Can I Get The Scholarship, Please Help by s3nn2x(m): 4:56am On Sep 28, 2020
If you really have all the requirements then you don't need the help of anyone to get a scholarship. Besides, it will be better for you to write IELTS/TOEFL if you want to get some cool scholarships.

Have you tried Chevening, Australia Awards, Erasmus Mundus, German DAAD, or even Commonwealth? These are some of the prestigious ones. You can also apply to schools in the US. Just have it at the back of your mind that securing a scholarship is very very very difficult. You are most likely not going to get it because the popular scholarships are competitive. You can also try and take GRE if you want to get substantial funding in US schools.

I checked prodigy and they don’t support it. I got admitted to keele university, Leeds university, Leeds Beckett university and university of Portsmouth. I don’t know which school to apply to get full funding.

In my personal opinion, you may wish to defer your admissions till next year. While waiting, you can also apply for some scholarships, such as Chevening, Commonwealth Shared, Erasmus Mundus (like IMSISS and MUDUSMAPP) and DAAD. If possible, you can also apply to some US schools. With your first class, relevant work experience, and strong letters of recommendations, you should be able to secure some funding.

I’ve even seen someone that want to help me run Canada.
He said i just need to come with my passport to his office and when the visa is out I’ll pay him 1.4.
He said he has reliable link. That i don’t need to pay shishi yet.
That’s better no upfront payment and he said I’ll have 2years working permit.

You better be careful before they give you fake visa.
Travel / Re: Abroad People How Often Do You Eat Nigeria Foods by s3nn2x(m): 4:27am On Jul 03, 2020
Not a problem. I eat Nigerian food daily. I rarely buy food because I cook. There are African shops around where you can get food stuffs. You can also go to African restaurants to eat. Na your pocket go tell.

I am in New York though, so it is quite easy to get Naija food.

Good evening all, please I am thinking of sponsoring my younger sister's masters study in the United Kingdom. She has a Bachelor of Technology in Industrial and Technology Education (Electrical/Electronics Technology Education), with Second Class Upper, from a Federal University. I would appreciate if anyone could assist with the right programme to do and maybe affordable institutions, preferably below 15k in a nice location.

Also, Is there a particular education programme that she can study or would a generic Education (MA) be okay? I have checked some schools but have been unable to see the right course. I don't want to waste my money.

If you don't mind, is there anything she needs to do in Nigeria before leaving? She told me she applied for the Teachers Registration certification but they haven't set the date for the examination yet.

I actually have admission to some schools, including Oxford University, but I am still contemplating if I should proceed as a self-funded student because I don't have the intention of staying back in the UK after studies. I have a job in Nigeria that I don't intend to leave anytime soon. I am just thinking of investing the money in the lady, because she has this hustling spirit and I feel that she would succeed if given the right platform. I need your assistance to make the right decision.

Thank you.

Chief.. do you know why phones hang ..?
When a processor can't handle the load of multitasking.. that's one key reason.. the phone you use is an old device , redmi 3s. When there is a redmi 4,5,6,7,8,9 and mi note 10..
Tell me something, do u expect an old phone with and old processor to perform like the ones that came after it..?
And so you know Facebook used to be 15mb at a time , but right now it's alot larger than that. Meaning more features has been added to it and requires a more powerful processing unit to power it smoothly.. The same goes for all apps that get updates, they get bigger and requires more powerful processing unit..
So please oga change your phone to a recent one..
Am pretty sure infinix and Tecno still uses the same processor in redmi 3 in the current flagship phones.. that's if they can afford the sd430.. still the sd430 is far better than what is in Tecno camon 15.. look it up.. 2016 redmi out performs 2020 Tecno flagship.. spits on Tecno ..

Did you look at the date of my comment?

If the person is in the US, he/she can use Wave, Transferwise or one of those services, and you will get the naira equivalent in your Nigerian bank account. The person can send it directly from his/her US bank account. I use wave and the exchange rate is 374 to 1USD, it was formerly 353 to 1USD but was recently increased.

Has anyone landed in NY amidst this CODVID19 saga?

I landed on Monday morning, directly from Lagos and I didn't spend up to 30 minutes in the airport. I wasn't even tested. Although, my passport was scrutinised and I was specifically asked if I have been to the UK recently. I don't use a standard passport tho, so I joined a special line.

Thank your Mother who is obviously praying for you.
Your agent is probably using stolen cards to buy tickets. The card owner found out and the return leg was cancelled.
The embassy could have detained and handed you over to PoliceNG along the Invictus Obi angle
.
A reason why US Govt is hard on Nigerians today is online and card fraud.

Perhaps. I booked a flight to Lagos from New York yesterday and I was asked to come along with the credit card I used for the booking to the airport on the day of travel. It hasn't happened to me before. I don't know if it is because it is a Delta Airline direct flight to Lagos.

full scholarship. The scholarship package covers accompanying spouse and children. I applied directly to the university and was nominated for the scholarship.

If it covers accompanying spouse and children, and if you are married with kids, I think it is a fair choice if you decide to go with DAAD.

Thanks a lot. It is a tertiary institution. Are there risks of leaving one's job to school outside the country, please I need more contributions

It all depends on your institution. Why not ask your colleagues. Anyway, all I know is that as long as you have spent some time as a staff and have been confirmed, no one expected to prevent you from furthering your studies.
Education / Re: Study Leave by s3nn2x(m): 3:08am On Jan 19, 2020
If you work in a Ministry and you are a confirmed staff, you can submit your application through the Training Department to your Permanent Secretary. You will need to attach the admission letter and other documents. It will be better if the course you want to study is related to your job.

Wow. An active member in the basketball thread here on Nairaland was also killed some years back. He was robbed and shot on his was back from school in Dolton, I don't know if it's located at the southern part of Chicago.

2,242 shooting victims and 424 murders were recorded last month alone in Chicago. That's really insane.

All these talk about Chicago is making me scared. I already booked a flight there to spend thanksgiving weekend there.

They just confirmed my eligibility. I applied for Food and Resource Economics as first option and applied for Land and water systems management as second option. They specifically said I've been approved for Land and Water Management Systems.

Secondly is, before the deadline, day before yesterday, (6th), I completed the eligibility form for Public Policy. (I love the course). Is there a possibility that they may still approve me for public policy? I prefer it to the land and water systems option.

Somebody help, please.

I got for the Public Policy but I wont be applying for some personal reasons.
