NewNigeriaMind: I know an Ijesa man, a third generation Ijesa man in Lagos with 5 Houses in choice areas that doesnt know what Ilesa looks like. He has no relatives there and if he goes back, he asked who he will be going to see.
When a Yoruba person leaves, the chance he will back is very slim depending on if there is something to come to.. Yoruba people make a home where they are and hardly move back to their roots. Hence you hardly hear Yorubas insult their host. Hmmmmm That's serious |

NewNigeriaMind: It is deeper than that and its multifaceted.
The village is apparently abandoned and the sons and daughter have all moved to other places.
You don't go back to a place where you have no connections anymore.
In Kaduna, i met families with houses in Northern Kadauna without a bungalow in the SW. Once there is no connection back home that is it. Here in Lagos a matron working in London, because her family have all relocated to the UK, came back to sell all they own in Lagos and now she has left. How will that person ever come back home. But plz do u think that kind of thing is good? I mean forgetting our roots coz we don't have any connection with it again? |

RealSleek: why are u giving them cheap points now...oyo is a cool place, ur parents understands berra...ara ile eni , Ni ota re Bros it's not a matter of giving anyone any point. I don't have time for that. I'm only saying the truth. My mom is from Oyo and few of her siblings that stayed back in Oyo are nothing to write home about. Me as a person I don't want to believe it has anything to do with any diabolical bullshit. But I still cant fathom why she doesn't like taking us home. |

One problem with we Yorubas is we don't go back to our villages after we might have made it in the city. At least erecting some modern structures in place of our muddy family house for the extended family. And the main reason is because of the believe of witches and wizards with workers of iniquity being dominant in the village. Which is rather appalling and unbelievable.
Take me for example ... I've never in my life been to Oyo and ilora and I'm from there.. .closest I've been to is Ibadan. And the only property my parents have in the West is in Ibadan. And if I ask them why don't we go home ...why don't we go to ilora and Oyo? They'll say it seems you don't want to be successful in life or u want we your parents to die before our time..
It's sad mehn Really sad |

I used to have one cat I named Ricky rozay. One of cutest cats I've ever known. Lovely and so so playful. But it doesn't stay one place. Liked going to neighbors houses and always come back with severe injuries and pain. ASABA people hate cat like mad. But it's all good. I know rozay is in a better place now. I miss u rozay, Ur big dreamy eyes and ur playfulness. |

Kfed4ril: I don't know if you call atiba(that is where the alaafin is) which is the main local government in Oyo town a remote village then why do you still argue that Oyo state is more urbanized than anambra state? Because it's the 2nd or 3rd most urbanized area in Oyo state after the capital Ibadan and maybe Ogbomosho as the case may be. Oh really? When you are ready to be truthful to yourself ....holla at me |
