Phones / Blackberry On The Road To Recovery With Raising Revenue by safo99(m): 11:45pm On Dec 19, 2015
BlackBerry's saga in the mobile realm has been a long and arduous one, but unlike many other industry titans of old, the Canadian giant has managed to hold on to its business, adapting as best it can. After a prolonged period of steady decline it now appears that the company's damage control and course correction are finally starting to work with a new rising hope of returning to profitability. The good news became evident after Q3 financial results were published, showing a 13 percent rise is stocks and shrinking overall losses. This has been achieved through strategic marketing and investment in both software and hardware sales, part of which can definitely be attributed to the OEM's well- received bold step into the Android realm with the BlackBerry Priv handset. But even before the Priv hit shelves, BlackBerry had already put into action a new and improved licensing strategy for its rich software suite to combat steeply declining revenue form legacy system access fees and this time around, the measures seem to be showing results. Morningstar analyst Brian Colello commented on the matter saying: Financial figures also back this statement. Apart from the aforementioned raise in stocks, the Ontario- based company also shrunk losses to 3 cents a share for a total on $15 million, besting analyst predictions of as much as $14 cents per share. Software revenue more than doubled in the quarter and so did device revenue form $201 million to $214 million, mostly thanks to the Priv. The air of optimism is definitely present, so much so, that chief executive John Chen has predicted a return to sustainable profitability in fiscal 2017. He even stated that the company could potentially break even from prior losses in this quarter, but this was postponed in favor of strategic software and hardware investments. As for the Priv, the bold experiment definitely proved successful, accounting for a lot of the aforementioned device revenue growth. Sales figures actually show that BlackBerry sold less devices during the quarter – 700,000, as opposed to the prior 800,000, but average selling price has jumped from $240 to $315, making for the overall increase in income. When asked about the future of BlackBerry's device business, Chen confirmed that a move to Android is indeed a possibility and does save a lot of production costs. However, abandoning hardware entirely is still a possibility, if it turns out to be the better course of action, despite the OEM's best desire to stay in the device business.

Buoyed by a sound management, Tu Baba was in the forefront a campaign for a violence free election. Towards the presidential and gubernatorial elections in March 2015, the singer along with other advocacy groups urged Nigerians to vote without being violent. 2Face never campaigned for a candidate as others did, he stood for the ordinary people and educated them on the need to vote wisely. That speaks of his ideals. In 2014, after losing his father to prostate cancer, Tuface became a voice in Nigeria’s prostate cancer prevention campaign kicking off an awareness month in September. He partnered with CECP-Nigeria (Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy) to further increase awareness with plans to launch Mobile Cancer Centers (MCC) to promote holistic health to rural communities. 2Face has established an NGO called 2Face Idibia Reach-Out Foundation which motto is service to humanity. In 2009, the singer was appointed as ambassador by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control NAFDAC. He released a song ‘Man Unkind’ to raise awareness on the menace of fake and sub-standard food and drug products in Nigeria. In 2009, he was presented with the prestigious International Youth Ambassador for Peace Summit and the Nigeria Youth Merit Award by the National Youth Council of Nigeria in recognition of his contributions to youth development in Nigeria. Wetin una say make e do again.. Dose shoes he didn't even buy dem..

Unfortunately, this is what Nigeria celebrities are known for. Flamboyant life styles; competiting with one another on who wears the latest and most expensive designers and cars.

I've never read or heard about 2face reaching out to his fans financially like Don jazzy and even small Davido.

Welcome to Nigeria. Op we all know the story of TuBaba, we know his humble beginning and how he rose to stardom through dint of hard work. Remember his first album and the song "ifune e baga oo " (if I got that right). He worked his money out and earned the fame he now has. It would be out of place for you to sit down in a corner and try to decide how he should spend his money.
Have you called out the pastors with private jets and rolls royce who try to outdo themselves with monies gotten from other people's sweat?
Have you called out the politicians who just sit smwhere and misappropriate our money?

Benue state produced the Senate president for 8yrs, who he help?
Benue state have elected officials, who them help?
Bia work hard and earn your dough, and if you like wear bathroom slippers when you've made ur millions, ko Kan aiye.

Phones / AMOLED Displays Gaining Market Share, Samsung Accounts For 95.8% Of It by safo99(m): 11:04pm On Dec 12, 2015
Apple may be switching to AMOLED displays for the 2018 iPhones, and those could either come from Samsung or JDI, depending on who you ask. But then again, even without Apple, AMOLED is doing mighty fine, a report out of South Korea states. The numbers for Q3 2016 show a 35% increase in number of displays shipped, compared to the previous quarter. Even more impressively, the 79 million mobile displays are more than twice as many as in the same period last year. Wider adoption and diminishing production costs have meant that the $3.29 billion value of the displays sold is not double that from Q3 2014, but it's nearly there. The market share of AMOLED panels in mobile displays has reached 18% in the quarter in question, and a dominating 95.8% of those are made by Samsung. Not as imposing, but still in a leading position, Samsung holds 38.5% of the overall smartphone display panel market, with JDI accounting for 17% and LG in third with 13.8%.

Phones / Snapdragon 820 Off The Charts In Antutu Score by safo99(m): 5:57pm On Dec 11, 2015
The Snapdragon 820 carries the huge responsibility to restore Qualcomm's leading-position in high-end mobile chipsets, undermined by the unfortunate Snapdragon 810. Judging by the results preliminary development units show, it may very well be capable of doing so. Over at the company’s headquarters working devices (non-commercial, naturally) were subjected to a battery of popular benchmarks and here are the findings. For starters, single-core performance of the new custom Kryo cores, measured in GeekBench, is well ahead of anything in the Android realm. A near 60% improvement over Samsung’s Exynos 7420 in this respect, a score upwards of 2,300 points is still behind Apple’s single Twister core’s result. Multi-core results in the same benchmark show the Snapdragon 820 inching ahead of Samsung’s current- gen flagship silicon, but we’re yet to see what the Exynos 8890 is capable of. Still, in this test, 4xKryo is comfortably ahead of 2xTwister. The new Adreno 530, which according to the scarce information available on the matter appears to be an Andreno 430 with a few evolutionary tweaks, is actually mightily impressive. In the offscreen Manhattan test of GFXBench, which is run at a standardized 1080p resolution, the chip is capable of twice the frame rate of the S810 or the Exynos 7420. It also beats Apple’s A9 by some 20%. In the onscreen tests, where the test device has to push more pixels (2,560x1,600 resolution of the developer’s rig, versus 2,560x1,440 or even 1080p displays in the rest of the devices), the chip delivers respectable performance. Most impressive is the comparison with the Exynos 7420 here, where Qualcomm’s solution manages almost twice as many frames per second. The overall score in Basemark X shows the S820 as a clear favorite as well, though the A9 is missing from the chart. And back to our headline Antutu result. At 131648 points, the score is about twice as high as current- gen flagships from Samsung camp, rocking the Exynos 7420. That makes us more than a little suspicious of its authenticity, but it is a photo of the developer unit with the Antutu score, and that can’t be doctored, right?

I know sony is a good product.. But we shud all look at the facts.. Sony is dieing.. Their only profitable business divisions now is the playstation and camera.. The truth is that the koreans and chinese have taken over d market.. If u cum down to naija here.. Majority of homes u see LG, samsung, polystar... No doubt sony has a good hardware on their fones.. I personally don't like d xperia UI.. Sony sell cameras to other big name OEMs.. But @ the end of the year u won't see an xperia device as top 2 best camera fone in d world.. Apart from dis year.. Where dey beat samsung by just a single percent.. Am not a fan of apple but apple do av class.. The ios works seamlessly wit the iphone.. Apple is all about simplicity... All oda oems are all feeling d heat of recent.. Apart from apple.. Even samsung has bin avin declining profits for d past 2 and a half years now.. Das y dey tried sometin different wit d s6.. But in sony's case still d same rectangular shit..even d z5 is no different.. All dis problems started because of d emergence of chinese oems.. They give good value for money.. Take a look at xiaomi, meizu.. They ve got all d features a smartphone shud av.. From fingerprint to even iris scanning technology.. All for a very cheap price..d truth is dat HTC is diein, sony is dieing, samsung has bin aving declining profits, all because of chinese oems.. Das y I love sammy.. Always trying sometin new.. U can see d s6 edge.. They even have their own operating system nw.. Tizen.. Just in case android bleeps up.. They av their own soc..exynos, they av deir own camera division, isocell used in some s5, av their own screen division Amoled,.. Das just it.. Everybody is feeling d heat.. Its how to maneuver ur way out.. Das wat makes u a good company..

Android is an open source software stack for a wide range of mobile devices and a corresponding open source project led by Google.

There are more Android users than iOS, it doesn't mean it's a cash cow. When was the last time you bought an app on Google Play?

If you know what a $1.4 billion loss means to a company, you won't be bragging about the failing Xperia business. Take a quick look at the top 10 selling phones.. Let me know if you find Sony in the list.

Xperia smartphone don't sell pal, there is no need to spin it. Selling 7 million smartphones.. (all of its products) in a quarter is by no means anything to brag about.

Even chinese companies like huawei,lenovo,xiaomi..has a lot of market share dan sony..

Just a little edge in camera department WILL NOT make me swap my galaxy s6 for xperia z5. As far as I'm concerned the cameras are the same, no real difference.
Das wat am trying to say.. Sony is a nice phone ... But if I shud chose an s6 edge+ vs sony Z5.. S6 till I die bro
D super amoled alone mehn.. If only samsung wud av used a bigger ba3 capacity.. But still wit its low ba3 capacity it still beat oda fones wit higher ba3 capacity

Am sure you will ask for your S6 Edge Refund. grin grin

According to reviewers.. D Z5 camera is d best wit 87percent accuracy while samsung s6 followed with 86 percent accuracy.. Followed by LG G4..80percent.. Iphone 6 is number 10..70 percent.. And note dat it was only dis year dat sony cud beat samsung in d camera department.. Previous years samsung fones always came out no 1.. Coutesy GSmarena.com
