It is quite interesting to see how some universities reported/spinned the outcome of the REF research.

They all trying to focus on the positive using a mix of the tables I have provided above to look as good as possible. They focus on the table where they have done well, that is why I chose to put all tables so people can see the overall picture.

You will see that the ones that have done well, or as well as they hoped to do, tended to highlight their position on the league tables.

While the ones that have not, tended to focus on (i) how their results have improved from the last assessment in 2008 or (ii) fields they have done well in, and hardly make any comparison of its performance to other universities. But the fact there is that overall results are far better than last year, so it is really not an achievement for any university to highlight (i).

Cambridge actually falls into the latter. In all the tables that are popular and the one that matters the most (power rankings), it was not in the top 2. Can't imagine Cambridge priding itself about coming "3rd" in an academic ranking in the UK. By its standard, this is not acceptable and I would suspect some heads will roll.

I have to agree with this. The drive for integration is extremely aggressive. Shows keep on throwing gay characters and 90% of the time, the orientation adds nothing to the storyline.

But to me, when I read this property section, all this Lagos Abuja properties are one huge bubble.

Just 3 new bridges, a good extensive tram network and 200 miles of well paved road will bust the bubble.

Many will have their properties unsellable because:

- It would have lost so much value, they can not bring themselves to sell it for the new going price.

- It is poorly built and has depreciated to the point new ones are preferred.

- Many more supply of houses will come into the market.

I have always said I can never invest in property in Nigeria. It is a waste of money and opportunity costs.

If things get better, you will lose all you prospective profit.

I can only buy one property in Nigeria for residential purposes. And I use "buy" loosely. Most likely I would build from scratch because my standards will be different.

Any investment in property would be abroad.

For the love of God, properties are cheaper in Spain than in Nigeria. And they give better returns, are more beautiful, in more sane environments, higher quality builds, have longer term value and it is a place you can imagine living and bringing up your kids in.
