Good.

There is no way you can describe paedophilia as a mental disorder and homosexuality as not.

They are both abnormal sexual desires. It is the consequences of the actions that are different.

TravelRe: The Journey From Accra To Lagos By Road. by Sagamite(m): 4:26pm On Jan 29, 2015

I feel very bitter narrating my experience or peoples experience on the journey from Accra to Lagos by road. I feel very bitter on the type of govt we have back in Nigeria. Nigeria in my heart but for how long will this people in govt continue to make us suffer? I have traveled by road and by air across various countries in the west African region and I must say that travelling by road to Lagos along the ECOWAS route is very pathetic. Due to the experience my friends encountered on the road when travelling, I have decided to write about the journey not given much details but the areas which needs to be handled seriously.
They(my friends) arrived Ghana by road from Lagos so as they can come to collect their certificate, recommendation and reference letter in other for them to be able to use to apply for their masters program abroad which was successful. The journey was with ease when arriving Ghana but the journey from Accra, Ghana to Lagos, Nigeria is worrisome especially when you reach SEME border which is Benin republic and Nigeria.infact, from Seme border down to Mile 2 is where the journey begins and this is very hectic.
SEME border as it is, is in a total mess and I wonder how many years it will take for the govt to fix things in order at the border. The sight is nothing to write home about, a noisy atmosphere where everybody does things helter-skelter. The drive back home from Seme into lagos city is ghastly. The roads are very bad with lots of potholes waiting to finish your shocks and create accidents. A lot of checkpoint by men in paramilitary and govt agencies such as customs, immigration , NDLEA, Police, quarantine, FRSC area boys acting as they were kept by govt on the road etc.
I strongly believe that there are over 37 checkpoint (legal or illegal) along badagry expressway. A 1km distance on that road , we can see about 8-10 different paramilitary on the road. This slows down the travel times covered to reach Lagos city itself. If every country in westafrica were to have such high numerous checkpoints that we are having in Nigeria, I do not think travelling by road will be worth it. It is very pathetic to see those paramilitaries collecting bribes on road so as they can allow vehicles or goods to pass. Those officers mean business and permit me to use this word ‘their eyes dey chook’. I do not see them as officers who are doing their job but they are there to waste peoples time and money not caring about where they are going.
I am not happy with the Nigerian government, I am not happy with ECOWAS. I really do not know what ECOWAS are doing in Abuja, I do not know why our govt cannot remove those paramilitary off the ECOWAS road at once without them from coming back. At least, there should be about 5 checkpoint on the road. Our govt should understand that Nigeria is the only country we have and we have no other place to go other than Nigeria. They should just make the country a better place for us to live in. they should remove the stress out of us. Even though they have money to enter flight, there are many people who do not have. Is it too much to ask from the govt just to help us? Shey na like this we go de dey?

Homosexualism is between two consenting adults who agreed to have sex with each other.

Paedophilism is between an adult and a minor--the minor is being lured to engage in the act without wanting to do so.

The minor is usually with undeveloped sexual organs unlike the adults. Persistent sex might lead to death.

In most news & articles about gay men/women that I've read, their relationship encompasses more than having sex and they can actually reciprocate love towards each others like heterosexuals.

Paedophiles can't love children except sexually. Even if they do, the child won't reciprocate it.
In ALL cases, minors regret the act after he/she had grown up - it shows they never fancied doing it.
Why all this consequential story?

What I asked you was:

"Now explain how did you come to the conclusion that paedophilism is a psychological disorder but homosexualism is not?"

And you gave me the consequence and legality of both?

Try again. Explain.

Do you have any idea how frustrating when a supposed grown man leaves his cage to type ridiculous comments on a public forum?

It is a known fact that most people here are m0r0ns and irredeemably dumb, instead of keeping their clueless ness to themselves they will be glad to throw it to the public.

The only way sanity will be restored here is when sane people stand up to those m0r0ns.

someone came here asking people to drink salt water to cure Ebola, do you have any idea how many kidnies that was threatened by that misinformation?

one Gen Buhari was telling HIV patients to stop taking retro virals that USA wants to kill them with it.

Manny's frustration is not about superiority of opinion, it is a known fact that the Standard of education has fallen in Nigeria and people form opinion based on the nonsense they read here, they act on it because there is no variable of education to challenge such misinformation that is why sane people should not allow misinformation to thrive.

There is no courtesy when you are saving lives, call the person anything you like so he will go back to school to get the basic education.
Not every opinion is worthy of public consumption.

Do you know there was a time not every adult was allowed to vote in the United States? you must be an elite to vote, not until Martin Luther was able to prove that most adults in America can make good election decision.

In Nigeria, a 25yr old is still living in a fantasy world, since there is no education to enlighten the person, no social programmes to expose the person, when he comes to a stage as big as the internet, his opinion is only "FIRST TO COMMENT" what kinda nonsense is that from a supposed adult? an individual with such micro brain you will send to elect leadership for you?

Such infantile radical you have given the right to vote and you will be suprised when a nincompoop is elected as head of state.

In 2011, during the days of beaf, I argued frantically why Jonathan should not be elected because his pedigree doesn't check out, 22.5m people went ahead to vote for him today where are we?

The 2011 loyalists are now APC converts what an irony?
After the country has been irredeemably mismanaged for 6yrs.
As I type, there are people who want to give the failure another 4yrs to fail more.

Go and register in an American, British or French forum and tell me whether you will read "FIRST TO COMMENT" there.

The Nigerian mentality is too shallow that I, Sagamite and Manny4life can no longer pretend about it.

Why cant APC identify areas of waste and estimate how much they will salvage from there? Is it rocket science?

Even Soludo said that Awolowo campaigned that he will stop serving tea in government offices he was able to note to the last kobo how much is involved and where he intends to channel it.

why are you guys so hopelessly dumb?

marveangel:
You know how people would say women are evil....I never used to believe it until now......what does one(a girl) profit by causing issues between two friends...this is how this daughter of jezebel came in between friends of several years.

My friend had met this his current girlfriend at my place, she's my sister's friend and course mate and they had both come to see me on a particular sunday....We were just in d sitting room talking about stuff when my friend (Kunle not his real name though) came into the house...I'm not big on formalities so I didn't bother with any introductions plus my friend already knows my sister well and again I was a little distracted, my sister and I were speaking our dialect talking about family issues..

Being the only other persons in the room I figured they just took the time to talk and get to know each other better.....About a month or two after that day my friend told me he was seeing mary(my sister's friend)...I just smiled and was like sharp guy....eventually we became close, that I figured was natural I mean she being my sister's friend and my best friends girlfriend there was no avoiding that....I had her on my BBM chat and we corresponded online every now and them, nothing serious just talk.....everything seemed okay until

Two weeks ago my friend had to leave town for some days, his mum was ill so he travelled to check up on her....Some three days after he travelled, his girlfriend came to my office to see me...I was shocked and afraid, I feared something bad happened to kunle's mom...

When I asked her what occasioned her visit..she simply stated that she had come to register her displeasure at me..she said her boyfriend had been gone for three days and I didn't bother checking up on her...(Was I supposed to do that I asked in my head?) I tried to apologise but she refuse saying she'd only accept my apology if I took her out for lunch...

So I did, we went to a nearby restaurant and ate....while we ate she just kept questioning me about my relationship, she said my sister her told her that I recently broke-up with my girlfriend and that I was sad and heartbroken...I told her I wasn't sad and miserable plus the break-up happened months ago..she asked if I had someone else in my life, I told her no...she kept asking 'why, what attracts you to girl, when do you see yourself settling down, do you have anything against any particular tribe and so on"...I barely ate my lunch....she left after lunch and I went back to my office......I thought that was all.

My friend got back some two days after, I was at the airport to pick him, as we drove back to his place we talk about stuff, good news was his mom was doing much better (I didn't mention the whole lunch with his gf friend, I didn't think twas worth talking abt)..I dropped him at home, said hello to his gf and went back to my place.....and that was the last I heard from my friend.....for over 6 days, even when I tried calling him he didn't take my calls...I was still thinking of how to go check up on him at his place when he came bagging into my office...he just stood didn't even sit.....he was shouting and pointing his finger at me warning me to stay away from his girlfriend...

He said he left town for five days and I was making moves at his girlfriend, he said I took his girlfriend to dinner and force her to kiss me and that a promised to marry her if she didn't tell him.

I was dumbfounded...I didn't even know what to say.....since when did people start having dinner around 1:30 PM....I wanted to call her but I figured she'd just spin more lies, my friend won't even calm down to hear my side of the story...everything is just so messed up right now.....

what I don't understand is WHY.......I mean what would she gain from this chaos she has caused.....Why are women just evil....what did I ever do to herhuh
This is more of a case of "your friend is a professional fuuktard" and less of "women are wicked".

Nigeria: Lagos City Hotels Charge Highest Room Rates

DESPITE the high number of hotels in Lagos, the metropolis remains the city with the highest charges on hotel accommodation in Africa.

According to the Lagos State Hotel Licensing Authority, the agency responsible for regulating the hospitality industry, about 2,500 hotels and other hospitality establishments are located in the state.

Following the preliminary investigation published earlier in the newspaper on August 2, The Guardian examines the room rates of four international hotels located in Lagos State in comparison with their rates in other African cities.

Finding shows that all the five-star hotels included in this survey, with branches in other African cities such as Johannesburg, South Africa, Nairobi, Kenya; Lusaka, Zambia, Maputo, Mozambique, Dar es Salam, Tanzania and Balaclava, Mauritius charge much higher room rates in Lagos than they do in other African cities.

The price difference sometimes is as high as 148 per cent. For example, the standard room rate in Southern Sun Ikoyi, Lagos costs N62,000 per night, whereas the same room costs an equivalent of N25,000 in Southern Sun, Johannesburg, South Africa.

A diplomatic suite with king-size bed, which costs an equivalent of N149, 000 per night in Sheraton Hotel Pretoria, South Africa goes for N248,000 in Lagos Sheraton Lagos Hotel and Towers - a difference of 65 per cent (see table for other rates).

Though these prices change from time to time subject to demand, the prices quoted in this report were the rates between August 9 and 10, 2014.

In an e-mail correspondence with The Guardian, the Director of Sales and Marketing, Intercontinental Hotel at Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island Lagos, Mr. Kumar Krishna, attributed the difference to the forces of demand and supply.

"There are very few branded star hotels in Lagos, and visitors tend to ensure that they choose one of the brands that they or their company is associated with. A premium is charged since the demand is far higher than the supply on most of the periods."

The Director of Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, whose organisation last year lost the regulatory power over hotels operation in Lagos and other states of the federation through a Supreme Court ruling, also stressed market forces as the major significant factor determining prices of hotel accommodation.

According to her, price equilibrium is bound to go higher when the demand for hotel accommodation is higher than the supply.

Plausible as this explanation may sound, it appears a weak justification for such huge difference in the hotel room rates in Lagos compared to other African cities.

Also Krishna's argument that visitors prefer to pay extra for a top brand hotel "so that they are able to experience a standard service delivery as well as ensure that there are no surprises," seems an excuse that rather points at the exploitative tendencies of hotels in Lagos.

"Some brands offer a standard level of service, and a frequent traveller pays a premium just to ensure that he exactly knows what he is getting," Krishna explained.

However, the more powerful argument by hotel operators in Lagos and other Nigerian cities is that, high operational cost is the primary cause of the exorbitant prices of hotel rooms.

At the second Nigeria Tourism Investors Forum and Exhibition (NTIFE) held in Abuja recently by Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN), stakeholders at the summit submitted that the cost incurred in running hotels in Nigeria is "outrageously high."

In his paper, FTAN President, Mr. Tomi Akingbogun highlighted lack of key infrastructure in the country among other factors hindering the growth of hotel business in Nigeria.
I am laughing at the moronic explanation this Kumar Krishna is giving.

So is he saying that the guests using hotels or their hotels in other countries are not a standard service delivery and they get surprises, hence the justification for the 148% price difference?

This is how the BBC reported the release of the results.

London overtaking Oxbridge domination

London universities are breaking up the traditional dominance of Oxford and Cambridge, according to official figures on research excellence.

The London School of Economics has the highest proportion of "world-leading" research among UK universities.

In rankings based on research grades, University College London has overtaken Cambridge for the first time.

The research ratings will determine the allocation of £2bn public funding for universities each year.

The findings are based on a massive funding-council project evaluating the quality of research at universities across the UK, with the last similar exercise having been published in 2008. The Research Excellence Framework measured the quality of research from more than 52,000 academics in 154 universities.

It revealed the rise of London institutions, catching up and overtaking Oxford and Cambridge and the decline of big universities in the north of England.

'Taking a hammering'
William Cullerne Bown, of Research Fortnight, which analyses research and funding, said "London looks unstoppable" and universities in the capital "could now eclipse Oxbridge".

He said this process would be further accelerated by major plans for expansion at University College London (UCL) and Imperial College.

"The biggest losers are Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Birmingham and Leeds. The North is taking a hammering," he added. "The government is indeed rebalancing the economy - but towards London instead of away from it. Outside the elite in the South East, almost all the other leading universities in England now face relentless decline."

The growing concentration of higher education resources and excellence in London follows a wider trend in education, which has seen schools in the capital outstripping the rest of England.

International rankings have also shown UCL and Imperial matching or overtaking the traditional Oxbridge duopoly.

The figures from the higher education funding councils for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland show that 30% of the research submitted was "world leading" and 46% was "internationally excellent".

'Global city'
Nick Hillman, director of the Higher Education Policy Institute, said that unless there was an increase in overall budgets, funding would increasingly be concentrated in fewer places, such as the so-called "golden triangle" of London, Oxford and Cambridge.

He warned that this "could have some dramatic regional effects" for other universities.

UCL's provost, Michael Arthur, said: "There is clearly a London factor at work in today's outcome. This is a global city, which makes attracting world class researchers that bit easier for our universities. Our popularity with students worldwide has also helped to drive funding and expansion."

There are no official rankings produced by the funding councils, but Research Fortnight has produced its own league table showing how the "market share" of research funding could be distributed - weighted to take into account that bigger research teams are likely to get more.

This puts the University of Oxford in top place, but University College London has now taken second place ahead of Cambridge.

The vice-chancellor of Oxford, Andrew Hamilton, welcomed the recognition for research across a "huge range of subjects and of the real impact they have on health, prosperity, policy formation and culture around the world".

Imperial College in London is also able to claim to have the best results from the evaluation, with the highest combined level of "world leading" and "internationally excellent" research - with 91% of its submitted work falling into one of these top categories.

There are also ratings by individual subject areas. These are based on the work submitted for evaluation - so some universities are assessed on hundreds of academics while others are measured on the work of a handful.

Madeleine Atkins, chief executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England, said the exercise showed that "UK universities are in the top rank of an internationally-competitive research community".

Universities Minister Greg Clark said: "Britain's outstanding reputation in research is founded on excellence.

"A rigorous and unflinching review by fellow experts assures that excellence, this is why the REF is such a crucial driver of quality."

No, they have no business in the top 10.

They do fall in the top 20 in their respective aspects.

The smaller ones, Durham and St Andrews for Quality. Durham, the bigger one, made it into the Power rankings Top 20 rankings.

Durham

16th in Concentration of 3* and 4* (83.1%)
18th for GPA
18th in Guardian's Research Power
20th in THE's Research Power

St Andrews
19th in World leading research (32.4%)
20th in Concentration of 3* and 4* (82.2%)
20th for GPA

The larger ones, Glasgow and Birmingham for Research Power. They both fall completely outside the top 20 in any quality rankings, so it is their size that got them into the power rankings.

Glasgow
13th in Guardian's Research Power
12th in THE's Research Power

Birmingham
15th in Guardian's Research Power
14th in THE's Research Power
EducationRe: Rough Guide Of The Best & Most Reputable Universities In The UK by Sagamite(op):
In terms of submission.

I will give a longer table here. This will show how much staff was submitted, which can be taken into consideration when reviewing the other tables above, and which universities were confident & brave enough to submit most of their staff. Obviously, the smaller the university, the smaller the total number of staff it can submit. So the submission rates (percentages) count too and give a good idea of bold the university is.

On the other hand, the bigger the university, the higher the risk it is taking with the volume of staff submitted. Submitting a large number of staff getting high percentage of 3* and 4* grades is a significant achievement. Submitting high volumes of academic staff means you need to submit more volume of quality.

Some universities might be roughly the same in size (in terms of student numbers) but one might have more academic staff, hence higher submissions. Examples of these are Cambridge vs Exeter, Imperial vs Durham and KCL vs Warwick. That just tells you that the one with more academic staff is more research orientated.

Total number of academic staff submitted
1. UCL 2,566
2. Oxford 2,409
3. Cambridge 2,088
4. Edinburgh 1,753

5. Manchester 1,561
6. Nottingham 1,404
7. KCL 1,369
8. Imperial 1,257

9. Leeds 1,149
10. Bristol 1,138

16. Newcastle 888
17. Queen's Belfast 868
18. Liverpool 760

20. Cardiff 738

LSE 532 | St Andrews 519 (Small universities)

Exeter 736 | York 643 | Bath 462 (Mid-sized universities)

Submission Rates - Percentage of eligible academic staff submitted
1. Cambridge 95%
2. Queen's Belfast 95%
3. Imperial 92%
4. UCL 91%

5. Bristol 91%

EducationRe: Rough Guide Of The Best & Most Reputable Universities In The UK by Sagamite(op):
The Quality tables.

The usefulness of the quality tables is that the size of the university does not matter at all. It just looks at what proportion of the staff work submitted is of high quality.

That said, it does not take into consideration the proportion of overall staff submitted. The point here is that participation in the assessment is not compulsory. Universities can choose which staff they want to put forward, so to manage their reputation, some of them game it and only submit a lower proportion of their overall staff.

Quality - Percentage of work that is World leading (i.e. 4*)
1. LSE 49.9%
2. Oxford 48.1%
3. Cambridge 46.8%
4. Imperial 46.4%
5. UCL 42.6 %

6. Cardiff 40.5%
7. KCL 40.2%
8. Edinburgh 37.6%

9. Warwick 36.9%
10. Bristol 36.0%

The top 5 UK universities shine through on this table. World leading shows the universities that can compete at a global stage. Manchester was in 11th position with 35.3%

Quality - Percentage of work that is World leading and Internationally excellent (i.e. 4* and 3*)
1. Imperial 90.6%
2. Cardiff 87.4%
3. LSE 87.3%
4. Oxford 87.2%
draw
4. Cambridge 87.2% draw
6. Bath 86.9%
7. Warwick 86.6%
8. QMW 86.0%
9. Sheffield 85.5%
10. KCL 85.2%

UCL was not even in the Top 20. It was in position number 21 with 82.1%. Edinburgh was 12th with 84.5% and Manchester was 18th with 82.6%.

The Times Higher Education did a Quality table which takes into consideration the volume of staff submitted (not the proportion of staff) mixed with the percentage of 3* and 4* to get a GPA.

Each institution’s overall quality profile is converted into a grade point average by multiplying its percentage of 4* research by 4, its percentage of 3* research by 3, its percentage of 2* research by 2 and its percentage of 1* research by 1; the results are added together and divided by 100 to give a score between 0 and 4.

Quality - THE's Top 10 by GPA
1. Imperial
2. LSE
3. Oxford
4. Cambridge

5. Cardiff
6. KCL
7. UCL
draw
7. Warwick draw
9. Edinburgh draw
9. Bristol draw
9. QMW draw

When looking at the quality tables (which is independent of size) we can see that Cardiff has been the surprise package with a wonderful performance. Manchester does not do as well when its size is not considered, as it does when it is considered (like in the Research Power tables). Nottingham too. Warwick comes into the Top 10 for quality.

When size is not considered, and only quality is, the smaller universities like LSE and Imperial then shine.
EducationRe: Rough Guide Of The Best & Most Reputable Universities In The UK by Sagamite(op):
One of the biggest events for UK universities has just been concluded last December: The Research Excellence Framework (REF) Assessment.

This is the assessment conducted by the UK government on the quality of research of UK universities every few years (5-7 years). Basically, all universities supply their research staff in all subject areas they want to put forward to be assessed, the staff put forward 4 pieces of work each and it is then judged by an international panel of experts (both academics and industry leaders) who categorise it according to five categories:

4* - World-leading research (competes with the very best academic work in the world)
3* - Internationally excellent research (but falls short of the highest standards)
2* - Internationally recognised
1* - Nationally recognised
U - Unclassified (wetin you dey do for academia)

The outcome is used for determining how the UK government distributes the funding of universities. If a university is doing top level research, then the government would pump money into that university. So this is a big event for universities and academics, arguably the biggest in their careers as it applies to a vast majority of them.

As well as informing funding allocations, the REF provides accountability for public investment in research, demonstrates its benefits, and provides important reputational yardsticks and benchmarking information about the research performance of UK universities. Many academics would have sleepless nights the nights running up to the date of the results' release, as their jobs/future careers depend on it. Also alot of staff poaching has gone on in the last few years by universities as the management try to ensure they perform well. Top universities and staff aim for at least a 3* to demonstrate the high quality of their research work.

Basically, this is the Champions League for UK universities as they are public universities that depend on UK government funding.

I will provide the different tables relating to this assessment. There are a mix of tables that come out of the results. Some are research power related, while others are quality related, and some others are just submission data. The ones that matter to universities are the research power tables.

Two media houses public "Research Power" rankings: The Guardian Newspaper and Times Higher Education. This is the ranking which they state shows the universities that would get most from the governments pot of money.

The Guardian's rankings only take into consideration the 3* and 4* work and multiplying with the number of staff submitted. So it is partially size dependent. Bigger universities doing quality work do better.

http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/ng-interactive/2014/dec/18/university-research-excellence-framework-2014-full-rankings

Research Power - Guardian's Top 10
1. Oxford
2. UCL
3. Cambridge
4. Edinburgh

5. Manchester
6. Imperial
7. KCL

8. Nottingham
9. Bristol
10. Leeds

Due to its small size, LSE was in 23rd position.

The Times Higher Education takes into consideration all 1* to 4* work in its calculations, which is also multiplied with the number of staff submitted. So it is also partially size dependent.

Research Power - THE's Top 10
1. UCL
2. Oxford
3. Cambridge
4. Edinburgh

5. Manchester
6. KCL
7. Nottingham
8. Imperial
9. Bristol
10. Leeds

Due to its small size, LSE was in 28th position.

UCL submitted the highest absolute number of academic staff, 2566 researchers, (Oxford: 2409, Cambridge: 2088) so when almost all staff are considered for table calculations, it can get to the top.

EKONGKING:
Stories of Nigerian soldiers running away from Boko Haram militants have been widely reported - but low on ammunition and allocated vehicles that don't work, a former soldier says they are being outgunned and overpowered.

"Imagine me and you are fighting," the soldier tells me. "We both have guns but while you are wearing a bullet proof vest, I'm carrying an umbrella."

It is his way of explaining that the fight against Boko Haram is being undermined because the jihadists are often far better equipped than the soldiers.

Abiona is 40 years old and has been in the Nigerian army since he was 17. Or I should say had been, because along with more than 200 others he was dismissed last week for disobeying orders. He was accused of fleeing rather than fighting but says it was a tactical withdrawal.

He has survived several battles, in fact he sounds quite fearless, and wants to tell me about serious problems he encountered in the military.

"I've committed no crime why should I be scared?" Abiona says. "I don't carry a gun or knife. My only weapon is my mouth."

I have heard many reports of Boko Haram attacks where the soldiers ended up running away with the civilians. Traumatized parents separated from their children during the chaos have described to me how they saw troops pulling off their uniforms and fleeing. This is a rare chance to hear from the soldiers themselves.

"It was 10:30 at night," says Abiona remembering one battle in Borno State. "Suddenly we saw Boko Haram very close to our trenches. Those of us with machine guns started firing and I can tell you that was a bad day for Boko Haram. We killed more than 80 of them." After the night-long battle his soldiers were low on ammunition but when they urgently called for more supplies each soldier was given just 10 rounds. Not surprisingly, the next encounter was disastrous.

"Two days later Boko Haram were back," he tells me. "This time they had about 24 four-wheel drive vehicles, some with anti-aircraft guns mounted on them."

Soldiers in Baga, Nigeria
Outgunned and with colleagues being shot dead around him, Abiona says they retreated and spent the next 11 hours on the run as the jihadists pursued them through the bush.

There were other problems. He tells me about armoured vehicles that were in such poor mechanical condition they would just produce smoke and wouldn't move.

During another encounter with the enemy in Adamawa State he says there were military vehicles that ran out of fuel.

"What did you do?" I ask. "We had to abandon them and walk. You can't carry them on your head," was his blunt reply. Boko Haram seized the vehicles. Then in the battle for a place called Bazza he says their guns proved no match for the jihadists' firepower and so they again beat a hasty retreat.

"They overpowered us and many died. Our mortars and rocket-propelled grenades wouldn't even explode they were so old," says Ibrahim, another dismissed soldier who was in Bazza, adding: "Because of the corruption in the nation it makes everything run down."

The soldiers say they have learned that better equipment has recently been supplied to the troops but overall it seems the security situation is getting worse.

Just over 18 months ago, I watched President Goodluck Jonathan address the nation on TV as he declared a state of emergency in the north east of Nigeria and promised a massive military operation against the jihadists.

Within a few weeks I was bouncing along sandy tracks with the Nigerian military who were keen to show me some success.

We reached the just-liberated village of Marte, close to Lake Chad - along with a couple of other remote settlements it had been briefly held by Boko Haram. I met people who were mightily relieved that the black and white jihadist flags were no longer flying and were hopeful that schools would soon reopen. Back then it looked like Boko Haram would never hold territory again.

This week I managed to get through on the phone to one of the people I'd met there. "Where are you?" I asked Abba. "We are all in Maiduguri city. There's not a single person left in Marte now. We all ran away with nothing but the clothes we were wearing," he said.

His village is back in the hands of Boko Haram but as a sign of just how disastrous the military campaign has been, huge swathes of north-east Nigeria are now in the hands of the jihadists

Some may call the soldiers I met cowards. Others will say they were poorly equipped and badly let down.

"I just thank God I'm alive," Ibrahim tells me, adding: "But I pray for our colleagues who died - we couldn't carry their corpses away. May their souls rest in peace."
GEJ for Life!!! grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Boasting about how he would QUASH Boko Haram "soon" but instead of equipping soldiers, they are carrying money in suitcases in a pastors private jet to loot. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Sagamite, good job you are doing here. I would love to seek your opinion as I intend going for an MBA in the UK or Canada this sept 2015.
I need work experience of about a year in the UK while doing the course to sharpen my business language mentality. I chose to apply for Sheffield Hallam University and Portmouth University in acheving this goal as they offer 2yrs MBA programme with the 2nd year in a work placement. Are they good schools? whats your take on this and are there better options in accomplishing what im after?
Thanks.
No, they are not good schools for MBA.

If you go to those schools for MBA, then I think it is best to regard the MBA you get there as an MA instead.

Better options for MBA are: LBS, Cambridge, Oxford, City, Warwick, Manchester, Imperial and Cranfield.

But those cost a bit of a few quids.

In May 2007, the account had $22.0bn.

The oil price shoots up until it reaches $147p/b in May 2008 and starts, immediately it peaked, crashing progressively and steadily again until Jan 2009 when it goes below $50p/b.

In Nov 2008, the account had $20.1bn.

In Dec 2009, the account had $7.8bn.

From Jan 2009, Oil price starts to shoot up again until it reaches a steady minimum $90p/b in Jan 2011 and rising as high as $127p/b.

In Jan 2014, the account had $2.5bn.

In July 2014, Oil price starts to crash from $105p/b. This is the time the ECA becomes important. Money should be in the pot.

In Sep 2014, the account had $4.1bn.

In Jan 2015, the account had $3.1bn when we need it. After 10 years of planning, saving and years of record oil prices?
