davidif:Wont the census form also be simplified if anybody mixed with "White" is considered as "White"? The one drop rule is a recent idea that is not even 200 years old. People have always had ways of classifying each other but not all of it is skin colour based and the actual concept of race as you know it now ("Black" race, "White" race) is also very recent idea. A Somali left to his own devices would never categorize himself as the same as an Ijaw. They dont have anything in common and so they are not similar in anyway. A "Black" Berber would identify with a "White" Berber more than he identifies with a Zulu man Anyways the ODR was not invented to simplify census forms. It was based on malice and the idea that a person with a drop of "sub-Saharan" blood is tainted. We should not be lending credence to nonsense like that or castigating people or nations who dont subscribe to such ideas. |
The one drop thing is a United States thing. Other nations do not have to adopt it. People think that it is wrong for the Spanish to call a person with one Mullato parent and a Spanish parent as a "Moor" or a Mestizo and a White parent as "White" But these same people think it is right to tell somebody who has over 90% Irish ancestry that he/she is of the "Black race" and that he/she is a brother/sister to people from Somalia, Ethiopia etc but not Irish people? I mean the person shares about all their genetic connection with Irish people. How is the person not a brother/sister to Irish people but is the same "race" as a Somalian whom he has no genetic, cultural or linguistic ancestry with? If anything is stupidly insane it is the one drop nonsense People should be castigating the ODR, not critisizing people in foreign lands for not abiding by an American social concept. |
SEFAGO: davidif:I dont understand you guys at all? How can you guys castigate the Spanish system of classification and applaud the American one-drop nonsense as the correct and right thing ?Ignorant people invented the one-drop rule and some of you here think is correct and imagine its the correct thing to do and even accuse people in a different continent of "denying their 'race'" because they do not conform to American one-drop crap ?Thats really amazing Who even told you guys that there is such as thing as "blackness" or "being black" which a person needs to deny in the first place ?"White", "Black" are actually just social labels that differ from place to place and from country to country that some people came up with and the current concept of race is actually very recent. People in Latin America reserve the right to call themselves white, black etc as they see fit. Americans dont have the right to bring their one-drop mentality and try to shove it down everybody's throats . |
davidif:I dont think Brazil has a majority black population. No where close to that at all. If you are talking about the mixed White, Amerindian and Black population thats a different thing entirely |
cap28:People una see this statement at all. I always told this guy he is racist as hell. Its funny because he is the one who bitches about racism the most but always makes racist statements in just about every thread Insecurity na bad thing sha |
davidif:Its really sad because in Nigeria we are always emotional about everything. We wonder why our country is upside down but when you have a populace that acts more on emotions than on rationale thats what you get |
Let me show you guys examples of "Injustice" that people experience in Nigeria all the time but they still carry on with their lives. 1. Landlord vs Tenant have a problem, one runs to Bakkassi boys first and give them money, Bakassi boys come and pick you up and torture you and use back of knife to flog you. 2. Bakassi boys even carry innocent people in some cases use knife hack them to pieces in the middle of the city and put their bodies out there for display 3. Police arrest college girls who are innocent in the evening and take them into the bush and despoil them while falsely accusing them of prostitution (You have no recourse to justice) 4. Innocent family at home dragged out and hacked to pieces by ethnic hoodlums. 5. Police demand bribe and shoots you to death if you dont give him 6. Rich man gives money to the police to arrest a poorer person, torture you and lock you up till he wants them to release you all because you dared to question a "Bigman" 7. Somebody who could be innocent burnt alive with petrol and tyre for "stealing" peoples focal places, belongings etc and his body left in the middle of the road for all to see 8. Somebody who is fully qualified is overlooked because of favouritism and nepotism and outright discrimination in education and employment 9. An innocent person gets brutalized with knives, gun butts, electric wires etc by the police. (With no recourse) 10. etc etc I could go on and on and on and on to 10,000 and it would still be more. People who are here who have never experienced a brutal police beating in Naija for no reason, who Bakassi boys never use matchete flog or who "never see anything" are here complaining about what again ??Ive looked back at my life in the West and I cant remember anything that I have a reason to complain about. (The biggest discrimination I have suffered was when I came here newly and some people where asking me if we lived in cities or huts and if we drove cars )In the West you have your rights. If somebody discriminates against you you have recourse under the law to make the person toast. Anybody that gets the chance to come to the west LEGALLY I would always tell the person, including my family to jump into it with 2 feet. There is so much you can benefit. For me if I had to do it all over again I would do it again and again and again and again. For those stuck in a cycle of self-pity and hatred na una sabi. Make God help una sha, make una no suffer heart attack for where una dey look for subtle "discrimination" wey the average person no fit see coz they no born am for the West ![]() |
E be like say some people need anger management classes or maybe they just need to head to the village and wash their head of their bad luck! Na person fault say u dey experience badluck? Na person fault say im go Europe and North America etc and people welcome am with open arms treat am well come help am succeed but for your own case na so-so wahala and injustice u dey bring ontop your head? Many people, infact millions wey don live outside Naija have nothing to complain about. They don utilize all the opportunities wey dey find make way for themselves even bring all their family com join them too. Na person fault say u dey wallow in self-pity? Abeg make all the complain, complain people go drink their medicine go siddon. The problem with all these so-called "Naija" born and raised in the West is that "they never see anything". They just dey yarn okpata for the West after they don chop bellefull. Make they come Naija make Mopol use gun knack them for head, or use koboko wallop them they go understand wetin "injustice" be. These people are in the West where they have all their rights and they dey here dey smell mouth. Look at the kyn okpata these people dey yarn self. 1. Discrimination fit dey, it just dey to subtle sotey u no go notice am unless they born you for there ![]() 2. They fit pull u over, u no fit know. Maybe u no fit notice. DWB yada yada yada ![]() 3. Discrimination fit dey your workplace. You no just dey notice am ![]() |
@Sefago there is a lot of ignorance in the rural areas and is sad how some people lead segregated lives. The funny thing is that some of these people are not even bad people per say but are actually deeply religious people with a good heart. Its just that when it comes to identity issues, they fall back into the same cycle and start fearing what they think they do not know or understand. There are also some people who are just hateful ![]() |
chika98:Yep All the Fulanis wey dey slaughter house for Waterside they slaughter them finish. Even the shoe makers and the suya sellers and those who were unlucky to be on 911's that were transporting goods to Aba |
SEFAGO:Well you should never generalize. You might be surprised but I lived in the South for some years and I met wonderful people. It was a nice white southern family that first came to my aid when i got here. They helped me to settle down and welcomed me like family. There is another African guy that I schooled with in one of the cities in the south. This guy black pass night sef. Infact the guy black sotey im dey almost invisible. He met a white chick and got introduced to her family. To my surprise the family welcomed him with open arms, treated him like their son and he spent all his december holidays with them. The girls dad was a top man for one of the electronic firms and helped him secure high paying summer internships. I think he is engaged to her now. Funny thing is the same Kenyan guy would get rejected by a lot of Naija families from marrying their daughter just because he is of a different nationality and ethnicity. I grew up in Aba. I witnessed so many helpless Hausas/Fulanis dragged out and massacared in front of me. Hacked to death and some burnt alive. Helpless men, women and children who did nothing wrong but belong to the "wrong" ethnic group. The hoodlooms that killied them on a friday would usually end up going to church on sunday to worship "God" A lot of people in Aba who are otherwise good people cheered on the wanton cold-blodded murder of innocent people. Others gave a silent nod of approval to what they saw as justified killings in retribution for killings of Igbos in the North. I still get chills whenever I remember it. There is discrimination in every part of the world an their are good and bad people in every society. Only a fool expects everybody to like him everyday and everwhere. Some people are gonna dislike you be it in Naija or overseas. U dont let that deter you from pursuing your dreams N/B: I actually hate all this artificial divisions like labeling people "white", "black" etc that seprates people based on "race" but thats a discussion for another day |
I just wanted to add that there is discrimination and injustice in all parts of the world, including Nigeria. Nobody should let that interfere with their dreams and goals in life or hinder them from pursuing it. |
So this Caps guy still dey here dey b.i.t.c.h? The guy never run go Naija wey be beacon of justice abi? Maybe when he gets to Northern Naija and they use matchete and cutlass and hack him and all his family to death he would learn to appreciate the goodness of a country like Britain and he would know what actual "injustice" is. Nigerians who live in Naija come face to face each day with injustices (they dont need to leave Naija to experience horrible things) that result in the loss of life for them and their family members and all this guy does on here is complain about phantom issues ![]() dayokanu:+10000 I have an advice for all of you guys who keep bitching about the west. How about get the next flight heading to Naija so that you can stop experiencing "injustices" and start experiencing "justice" Naija style? Its a win win for everybody There are many people stuck in Naija who are tired of experiencing justice in Naija and would prefer to trade places and experience "injustice" in the West (u see them at foreign embasies all day) ![]() All my time in the West Ive experienced beautiful people from inside out. People who went out of their way to ensure that I got a strong foothold and succeed in my new country. People from all works of life and all colours. I have nothing to be angry about, just grateful for having met all these warm hearted people of all "races" who welcomed me with open arms . |
So nobody has any answer to my question. Does anybody have any idea of the name of the song with those lyrics? |
Any Don Williams song. Those songs never get old |
Make all Milan haterz go siddon. Milan >>>>>>>>>>>>(insert team name) Forza Milan! ![]() |
