Please people should stop instigating anarchy in the Southeast. Attacking and killing police men in the name of bringing a new republic. No such new republic will emerge from these criminal actions only lawlessness and anarchy. Places like Aba needs more police and security to grow commerce not violent attacks on police stations |
OfoIgbo:Ive seen this movie before. Residents of Aba and Onitsha were finally relieved when federal forces came and rid them of the nightmare called Bakassi boys. This is exactly what this would be |
OfoIgbo:Anybody who believes this is completely deluded and has lost their minds. Emotions area a hell of a drug. Where is the logic in this? You only reason you think you are making sense is because you are saying rubbish like "Fulani police" and "Fulani army" like the Igbo officers killed brutally this week in Aba were Fulani No place a militia armed with knives, matchetes and stolen guns and taken over from a formal civil defence has ever turned out better. The horror about to befall the southeast is something no one here can imagine if this is allowed to continue and not stopped ASAP. Eastern Nigeria might turn to eastern Congo soon where armed militia supposedly protecting their land from external forces rule the day. An uninhabitable jungle |
OfoIgbo:People in the southeast have lost their minds if they believe this trash you wrote You prefer a militia that carries matchetes and stolen guns taking over society from a civil defense force like the police. Really? How can people be this insane. The current Nigerian police is 1000 times better than a militia you dont know who the members are and are unaccountable to anyone. Imagine thinking that a bunch of hardened unknown elements hiding in the bush are under the control of Nnamdi Kanu who is in Houston currently. ESN would be no different from Bakassi boys when they went around cutting up people and slaughtering people for whoever could pay them or whoever they liked. When the repercussions for this come Igbo people will run to Lagos and Abuja (places under the control of civil defense forces) and away from places like Aba and Onitsha |
Drizzy5001:Why do we casually talk about roasting human beings alive? What type of animals live in our society? |
What is this mediocre discussion? Onitsha and Aba both look horrible for cities of their size,. These are big cities of millions of people that look like underdeveloped hamlets. No real city planning exists in either one Same for smaller cities in both states. We should stop the contest of mediocrity and develop our cities. Why cant Onitsha and Aba be better planned and resemble actual cities? |
cappucino925:Look at this joker Ghettos in the USA have things Lagos can only dream of. Like central sewage, central water, covered sidewalks (zero open gutters), good and well defined roads etc Ghettos are far ahead of Lekki and the likes. Dont kid yourself |
Babysho:I don't get why ignorant people are arguing this. Cities in Southern Africa put Lagos to shame |
cappucino925:You are fooling yourself if you believe a country like the USA has cities that look like Oshodi, Makoko, Mushin, Adjegunle or massive sections of the city that look like that. The ghetto in the USA has central sewage, central water, side walks, nothing like open sewers and gutters, traffic lights, street lights, clear road markings, pedestrian lights The ghettos in the US are far better than many parts of the Island |
optimusprime2:Dude you need to travel man. Lagos is a massive slum and when you visit Southern Africa your eyes go clear. Most Nigerians dont even know how backward their environment is Basic central water and central sewage is completely absent from Lagos. What kind of city is that? |
What a shocking joke. Why are Aba rulers so heartless |
Failure of the government in Aba. How can criminals invade the middle of the city during the day, kill you they like and steal as they like? Make an example of some of these criminals and this rubbish would stop |
lagdmark:People have forgotten the savagery of the Bakassi boys. People used them as a tool to have their political enemies and rivals hacked to death. I was so overjoyed when the army ran them out of town. It was like waking up from a shocking dream. If these guys get control of any area of society expect extra judicial killings to become the norm |
When Aba gets a capable governor and not a governor invested in a propaganda machine, Abia people will be shocked that all the roads in Aba plus new ones can be done in 24 months and completed. In Enugu for example multiple roads were constructed at the same time and then joined up. As PH road is being repaired, Ngwa road, Obohia, Ohanku etc would be going on simultaneously. Aba Owerri road upgraded too, Asa Road, Cemetery, parts of Azikiwe road etc going on concurrently. Thats how a serious government who understands the golden goose that is Aba would tackle the road situation not organize commissioning events after a few meters of road are repaired |
eduj:Oga its not about you. I applaud the efforts of any nwa Aba to generate greater investments in the city. I've always believed in this city. Its about the successive governments that have failed Igbo lands most promising city. The Lagos of the east basically all because they cant put some kilometers of road in a city that is a massive money maker. You should showcase the improvements in road (some people erroneously think there are 0 roads in Aba currently which isnt so) My frustration is the government and they way they advertise mediocrity and think we should applaud it. You set up a massive commissioning event for Eziukwu even though half of the road is unmotorable? Its good that half the road has been repaired but finish the road and the adjourning roads first before setting up a commissioning event with a lot of fan fare. Repairing 700 meters of a road does not necessitate a commissioning event in a city of well over 1 million maybe 2 million people bereft of roads. Put 100 miles of road in Aba with neat sidewalks, signs, traffic and street lights and you don't public commissioning to notify the rest of Nigeria that things have changed in Aba and Enyimba city is ready for business. The news will travel far and wide. The state govt should quit paying an online propaganda machine. It is not necessary. Port Harcourt road for example is 5.7 kilometers (3.5 miles) from Asa road to the express. You can easily convert it into a 4 lane each direction road (8 lanes total) Abuja style boulevard as a legacy project for Ikpeazu. Its only 3.5 miles not 350 miles |
eduj:Aba is a hub of business and people should invest in it. I love the city so much so it pains me so much because simple repair of 50 to 100 miles of road in the city with neat sidewalks would be magical for the city and Igbo land in general. So many Igbo people around the world who would bring in foreign capital if Aba were to have decent roads but somehow the leaders are more interested in internet propaganda than doing what is essential for our survival. Just so you understand if the government did 25 miles of road every year for each of their 8 years, Aba would have over 200 miles (320 kilometers) of paved road within the city when the government leaves in 2023. Every single road would be tarred and completed, brand new roads built with spare left There is no need for all this propaganda of a grand opening of Eziukwu road when it is not even complete. The road isnt even long just complete the damn thing first. If Aba roads are like PH roads nobody can tarnish Aba about roads. Instead of fighting online against image of bad roads just fix the few miles of road in Aba and the news of good roads in the city will tell itself. Nobody can pretend that the major roads in PH or PH GRA are unmotorable because reality always supersedes anything you make up You can fix all the roads in Aba in a year if you want to. Even PH road is a little over 5 kilometers you can fix it in 3 months |
Eziukwu road that is not even 2 kilometers we are talking about this section and that section. The governor made a huge fanfare to commission a few meters of Eziukwu road. He didn't even bother to complete it all the way to Cemetery before calling his facebook and noise maker crowd to laud it Yes we all want the best for Aba but that doesn't mean applauding mediocrity. The governor goes to Abuja or even Port Harcourt GRA and likes what he sees there but doesnt replicate it in his home city. There is no reason it takes years to repair 800 meter roads and no reason for this fanfair. A serious governor would not only repair the roads Aba had when it was a much smaller city like PH road, Uratta, Ngwa road, Ohanku, Obohia etc but would have doubled the roads available in Aba to keep up with population growth like Enugu and Port Harcourt have done. We are talking about the roads Aba had 30 to 40 years ago when it only had a fraction of todays population. The new areas that have sprung up have dirt paths as roads and nobody is talking about them. |
IGBOSON1:Ikpeazu has kicked off the repair of Port Harcourt road several times even inviting dignitaries and take pictures for propaganda. Work was supposed to be completed in 11 months. Contracts supposedly awarded and boom thats the end of it https://www.nairaland.com/3781693/ikpeazu-flags-off-reconstruction-port-harcourt How can humans be this wicked, heartless and thoughtless? Just invite Julius Berger and turn Port Harcourt road to a boulevard better than anything in Maitama. Its less than 4 miles and can be done in 3 months. This would cut the travel time between Port Harcourt and Aba massively for the business people in Aba who sell in PH. After the road is completed have your propagandists post 1000 pictures of it online if you want. But do the basic duty of government first |
superlightning:Just like all these other projects abi. Anybody who thinks Ngwa road or any other road in Aba will ever be repaired is a complete fool It will go the same way as the Waterside dredging, Port Harcourt road repair (with Umahi invited to the kickoff), Osisioma flyover etc https://www.nairaland.com/3781693/ikpeazu-flags-off-reconstruction-port-harcourt https://www.nairaland.com/5804186/ikpeazu-kicks-off-repair-works https://www.nairaland.com/2440173/ikpeazu-begins-dredging-aba-river The wickedness of the Abia State govt knows no bounds. Bring a caterpillar, take pictures and pay propagandists to promote lies online and thats the end of it |
Stanleyallen17:100% being paid. It pains me so much the extent the previous and current govt goes through to promote propaganda to deceive people. Who are they fooling? Port Harcourt road is one of the longest at slightly less than or about 4 miles from Asa Road to Express junction. Something that should take 2 to 3 months for a serious government to fix and convert into a multi lane boulevard. Aba people are industrious and creative. The place in Nigeria that would most benefit from getting a road network more than anyother place. But the govt prefers propaganda and paying people to fool people than to spend a few weeks repairing 2kilometer and 3 kilometer roads. |
Nigercity:You are being paid to post pictures of the Mormon church and those other pictures here. Outside of the mormon church built by Americans with its beautiful manicured lawns (this is how roads and sidewalks look in normal saner climates. Everywhere in Aba should look like that if the people ruling Abia didnt behave like animals), most of what you are posting is the best snapshots of an eyesore. Imagine you blaming lack of roads in Aba on "federal roads" This is straight out of the line of the criminal and heartless state govt propagandists being paid by state funds. Aba has less roads now than it did 20, 30 or 40 years ago despite the population being many many times more. This is a failure of state governance. 20, 30 40 years ago Port Harcourt road was a road you can use to connect to the express and your trip to Port Harcourt very short. Today its unpassable and so are the Uratta roads. Ohanku same story. Obohia same. Many parts of Ngwa road are eye sores. These are among the major and long roads in Aba historically No long new roads have been created by this govt. Even the "long" roads in Aba are 3 to 7 miles total. Why cant the govt simply fix it rather than paying propagandists? What type of wickedness is this? |
TEDHorsePower:So pathetic. Just empty rants and zero logic There is an airport 10 miles from Onitsha currently. Airports are built to account for proximity, traffic and viability. People with common sense would not waste scare resources building new airports when they have not begun to tackle any major issues |
mktinsight:You are so much on point but its scary how many supposedly educated people here dont grasp what you are saying and are supporting insanity, redundancy and colossal waste of meager resources. Anambra "airport" when Asaba airport is 10 miles from Onitsha, Nnewi is close and Awka is close to both Asaba airport and Enugu Ebonyi airport when its a straight shot to Enugu ( and the airport has 0 chance of being viable). Abia "airport" when Owerri airport is 20 miles away from Aba and PH airport is down the road. Meanwhile our cities look extremely primitive with haphazard disorganized 4 and 5 storey buildings with wide smelly drainages and people selling in dilapidated & rotting markets. Some of our people reason like imbeciles it seems. No strategic thinking at all. We need rails, roads and ports with heavy emphasis on the first 2. Unviable airports are the last thing we need. Airports and planned and executed based on proximity and viability not on "states". Just because Nigeria has 36 artificial and unviable states does not mean we have 36 airports as well Upgrade the Asaba airport. Make it the Onitsha/Asaba twin city airport. Build a 6 way lane running from the airport into Onitsha. Do not spend a kobo building another airport Connect the airport to Onitsha and Asaba with and light rail or a skytrain. Same for Owerri airport to Aba. That would achieve far far more for the southeast than building all these airports |
Nigercity:Guy the whole length of the road is much less than 4 miles (7 kilometers). All the "long" roads in Aba (Aba-Owerri, Faulks, Port Harcourt road, Ngwa road etc and they are not that many) are 3 to 7 kilometer roads. The successive governments prefer to pay for internet and social media propaganda than to repair the few kilometer roads available to a city of millions of people. Same roads that existed 25, 30, 40 years ago in Aba. Nothing new except that back then the roads were actually motorable like Port Harcourt road, Uratta, Obohia, Ohanku etc The city's population has quadrupled but the city has less roads than it did 30 years ago. How insane is that? In a normal society Aba would have hundreds of kilometers of road to navigate the city. How is paying for internet and social media propaganda going to help Aba or Igbo people? Repair the damn roads and build new ones so hardworking enterprenuers can create wealth and empower Igbo land. Its heart breaking that people are paid to come here and post pictures of a private fenced American built Mormon church as pictures of Aba Why not clean up Aba and its roads so it actually resembles the private American church? What does propaganda achieve? It doesn't help the suffering people of Aba or Igbo land at all Aba was a planned city by the British and the govt lets the people live in squalor while trying to misrepresent reality |
Nigercity:There is no Enyimba Economic City being developed. Just propaganda by Abia govt sponsored psychophants who think Abia people are helpless fools who dont know what is going on. How can a government that cannot repair the less than 4 mile road called Port Harcourt road develop a so called economic city? Aba has grown many folds but has less roads than it did 20 to 25 years ago. This is a grave tragedy and a travesty for Aba people and Igbo people. Despite the massive growth in population people are begging for just the roads that were available 30 years ago to be repaired. What kind of deliberate wickedness is this? |
Bkayyy:Guys if you put 30 kilometers of Road in Aba, businesses would boom massively. If the current government put just a meager 5 kilometers a year in the city, Aba would be an impressive city and businesses would flow in and Igbo people wont need to relocate to Lagos What is required to fix the city and shut its critics up is not that much. Its something the current govt could do in a year if they wanted to Online propaganda is not going to fix Aba or change its reality no matter how many Mormon church pictures get posted here. Ariaria remains beyond shocking |
Nigercity:I have. Aba is extremely shocking compared to them. How can the leaders be so wicked to destroy the massive potential of this city? |
Look at the mess these guys are posting here as a representation of Aba. I really want to weep. Do these people think they are selling Aba as good with these horrific pictures? The only good picture here is the Mormon church with its manicured lawns but thats a private American church So freaking sad |
Fixing Aba is easier than promoting propaganda. Why are the people in charge of Abia so so wicked with a dark heart? |
Why do sycophants and stooges of those who are oppressing Abia people while looting their resources keep showing the Mormon church built by foreigners as an example of Aba? The Mormon church was built by American foreigners and is a private compound Aba is a city of millions of people without roads and is shockingly dirty. How can a city of millions of people not have even 10 miles of motorable roads? Extremely dirty and unkempt. Instead of building 10 to 20 kilometers of road a year in Aba (His hometown) since the governor took power almost 6 years ago (Aba would have over 50 to 100 km of good marked and well kept roads with just doing that bare minimum) he pays propagandists here and on Facebook as if that is a strategy to achieve something. Aba is a major city of millions of people. Yet cant even show you 2 kilometers of good road continuously. No road markings, barely any street lights, traffic lights, road signs, directions etc. A major city that looks like a village infrastructure wise If the pictures of Port Harcourt road are fake oya show us the real ones, if the ones of Ngwa Road are fake show us the real ones, if the ones of Uratta are fake show us the real ones. Show us a ground level videos of Ariaria and Ahia Ohuru. You can go to those markets and make a video of the neat Ariaria or Ahia Ohuru or make a video of Ariaria with good road on the ground level. Do you take us for fools or what? Stop trying to fool people with a private Mormon church as if a church built by Americans ris a representation of Aba Stop the stupid propaganda and clean up the city. Stop the extreme wickedness. Clean up Aba and put some kilometers of good roads in it. Stop trying to convince people of a falsehoold that Aba is not in a shitty and horrific condition. Its easy to fix Aba than to sell this lie! |
Ebidosia:It is a state road. Look at Ikpeazu flagging off construction of the same road several times. He even invited Dave Umahi to one such flag off in 2017 https://www.nairaland.com/3781693/ikpeazu-flags-off-reconstruction-port-harcourt He is making a fool of the whole Abia population. Ikpeazu and the T.A Orji family look at Abians as conquered slaves who have no recourse to stop the wickedness they are unleashing on the state. |
Ejanla07:What kind of nonsense are you talking about? You are a fool if you believe this. This is n inside the city road in Aba that the state government has refused to repair. It is not a federal govt road at all. Stop talking rubbish. Its an Aba city road that is solely the job of the state government |
