Abuja - #TyrantBuhariis gaining momentum on Twitter as Nigerians reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s maiden media chat have voiced their outrage following his remarks on former National Security Advisor (NSA), Sambo Dasuki and pro-Biafra campaigner, Nnamdi Kanu. #TyrantBuhari has been trending since January 2. Buhari said during his first presidential media chat last week that some political prisoners like Dasuki and Kanu did not deserve bail. Several court orders granting Dasuki and Kanu bail have been disregarded by the Department for State Security Services (DSS) and the two remain in prison. The disregard of the court order made the presiding judge withdraw from the case. While some Nigerians on Twitter hailed Buhari’s toughness against corruption, others called him a dictator and a tyrant who did not obey the law of the land. Nigeria -Constitutional lawyer and founder of Change.org, Carol Ajie, has petitioned the President of the United States, Barrack Obama, over President Muhammadu Buhari’s “disobedience of court orders.” The petition emerged following Buhari's recent admission on national TV that the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu were being held against court orders in order for them not to escape. “Within President Buhari’s first year in office, too soon after he took the revered Oaths, he and state agents acting under his supervision, now demonstrate total lack of respect for Court Orders and at his maiden media chat on Wednesday 30th Dec., instant, Mr President made puerile attempts to justify these breaches, he said inter alia that some persons his regime locked up in cells dehumanized against court orders, Nnamdi Kanu had travelled without his passports. “But under the Immigration Act, the President or the Minister may deport anyone who travels without a valid travel document or detain for a period not exceeding 7 days. In holding Mr. Kanu beyond the required period they have infracted on the Immigration Act, the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 and subsisting court orders “With regard to issues of “self determination”, the crux of Nnamdi Kanu’s campaign of the Independent People of Biafra, IPOB, having communicated IPOB’s intent to all and the United Nations as required by UN Covenant on Civil and Political Rights ratified by Nigeria, that people of any community or group may wish to exercise the right of self-determination with a view to pursuing their economic, social and cultural development; aware that their dignity as human persons had deteriorated and been consciously degraded under the present dispensation, sadly appearing power inebriate.” Carol Ajie urged President Buhari to resign if he is not ready to obey court orders or risk being impeached from office. [Masterweb Reports: Obinna Akukwe reports] - The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the South East has lambasted the Federal Government over the continued detention of Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, asking that he be set free immediately. Speaking with the Rev Obinna Akukwe, Director General of Igbo Mandate Congreess, IMC in Awka on Saturday, the Chairman of CAN South East. Archbishop Professor David Eberechkwu described the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu against the orders of both the Magistrate and the High Court as unbelievable and inexplicable. According to Archbishop Ebelechukwu “ Nnamdi Kanu should not be held against the orders of the court. The government should release him to avoid further protests and death” Explaining the efforts of clerics so far to cool down tempers among the populace, Archbishop Ebelechkwu siad that “I have earlier called all these leaders of IPOB, MASSOB , about five groups in all and the leaders of CAN in the South East discussed with them and advised them to pursue the path of peace and dialogue. It is saddening to hear that after all our interventions, the Nigerian Government has not respected either our mediation and that of other leaders which has helped to bring peace by playing with the release of Kanu” The hate speeches associated with Radio Biafra also got the attention of the cleric who described them as vulgar. According to Archbishop Ebelechukwu“ the words Nnamdi Kanu uses is too vulgar, in my own view, but he is yet to commit any act of violence against anybody anywhere in Nigeria, as such there is no reason for keeping him behind bars especially after the courts have said otherwise” Archbishop Ebelechkwu asked the DSS and other relevant agencies not too exacerbate the security situation in the South East with the politics of bail and release. He also advised the members of IPOB and MASSOB not to allow miscreants and agents of violence to hijack their peace postures. Igbo Mandate Congress had led a delegation to consult with the leader of the Christian community in the South East on ways of ensuring that the zone is not turned into a theater of war. Rev Akukwe in his response asked the Archbishop to continue with his peace efforts which had brought about temporary lull in the zone. Akukwe also described the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu as a time bomb and promised that IMC will continue pressure for Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release through its contacts. In another development the Director General, Rev Obinna Akukwe has condemned the bail conditions which Nnamdi Kanu refused to accede to as precondition for his release. Addressing a group of clerics drawn from all denominations who embarked on a seven-day prayers for peace and progress in the South East after the shooting of nine protesters at Onitsha on December 2nd, Rev Akukwe described the bail conditions as leprosy infested. He said that “Igbo leaders intervention should be heeded and Nnamdi Kanu released. The bail conditions should not be negotiated behind bars. When Kanu comes out, Igbo leaders and clerics will talk with him, but to ask him to sign such is not acceptable.” The clerics had invited theleaders of IMC to close their seven day prayers and fasting at Enugu on Saturday. They also gave him a copy of a classified document on how Biafra can be achieved. This document titled ‘ God’s Time Table for the Actualization of Biafran State’ a catalog of steps towards achieving a sovereign state of Biafra as revealed to them during the prayer session. Rev Akukwe promised to go through the documents and respond within he next thirty days. The group of clerics who wished to be out of the spotlight for the meantime, closed the fasting by offering prayer for the deliverance of Ndigbo from infrastructural deficit and bad leadership. They prayed for the peace of Nigeria and success of the FG anti corruption policies, including return and of looted funds. They prayed for the repose of souls of the over fifteen IPOB members murdered by soldiers at Onitsha on three different occasions. They also prayed for consolation for families of Shiite Muslims murdered in Zaria by Nigerian soldiers. Obinna Akukwe( Email: profetobinna@yahoo.com) reports. *Photo Caption- Mr. Nnamdi Kanu |

Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Elders of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Brig. Gen.Jeo Achuzia, yesterday charged the Federal Government of Nigeria to respect the right of Biafrans to self determination. The Biafran Elders in an emergency meeting in Asaba, Capital of Delta State said that the recent demonstrations in the South-East and parts of South-South were agitations for the right to “call ourselves Biafrans within the Nigerian equation. They, however, appealed to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) to ceasefire. The council implored all pro-Biafra groups to stop any form of demonstration, and attend an urgent meeting on a date that would be communicated later. Achuzia, in a statement, said the emergency was held in the light of the present stand down of IPOB youths and the Nigerian government on the arrest of the Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, and other pro-Biafran activists, as well as pending court cases. He said: “We want to also use this opportunity to appreciate all IPOB youths for your usual obedience to the instructions of Supreme Council of Elders of Indigenous People of Biafra. while advising the Federal Government of Nigeria to respect the right of the indigenous people of Biafra to self determination, and that our agitation is for the right to call ourselves Biafrans within the Nigerian equation. “The customary government of the indigenous people of Biafra in a de facto government as a legally instituted body, represented by Billie Human Rights initiatives in suit number FHC/OW/CS/192/2013 between Indigenous People of Biafra and the Federal Government of Nigeria.” http://www.blueprint.ng/2015/12/10/ipob-elders-want-fg-to-respect-rights-of-biafra/
