PoliticsRe: Fg Approves Construction Of Anambra Airport by saintneo(m): 4:52pm On Nov 04, 2009
@"Protestants"

It has being a dream to build an airport in Anambra state - long before I wrote my common entrance exams (i.e before the division of the old anambra state). However, there were lots kickbacks against the project especially by Transport Companies(Luxury Bus companies).

With this new development, I believe the liberation of markets in Nigeria will increase, more people will work towards earning their living via a competitive market, it will promote more exports and thus creating an international image for business for Nigeria.

Furthermore, from a business perspective, one cargo airport in SE is not enough for our business; the cargo airport in Anambra will get saturated with business if properly implemented. Thus, a further development in Umuahia or a town close to Aba and Port Harcourt should be in view.

@Asaba Airport Supporters
It will be good if the purpose of building Asaba airport is defined having mind that there are airports in Benin and Warri; and there is an Airport in Enugu and Owerri.

I'm a citizen of Anambra, Enugu and Abia states.

27-yr-old man kills self in Enugu
National News Nov 3, 2009 By Tony Edike
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/11/03/27-yr-old-man-kills-self-in-enugu/

ENUGU—Tragedy struck in Achara Layout area of Enugu State Capital, at the weekend, when a 27 year-old man, Mr. Edwin Ejike, shot himself in a bizarre circumstance the police described as suicide.

The State Police Command, said yesterday, that investigation into the incident, which occurred last Friday, had commenced but no arrest has been made.

An eyewitness told Vanguard, that Ejike, who was staying with his parents, had returned from Port Harcourt, River State, few days back with a serious complaint, that he was duped of a large sum of money, a development which he claimed had made live very miserable for him.

He was said to have told his parents that there was no reason for him to continue living, since the evil men had deprived him of all his earnings. It was alleged that he had threatened kill himself.

But Vanguard learnt that his parents pleaded with him not to embark on such act, with a promise to give him enough money to revive his business, even if they had to borrow the money.

It was learnt that he had reportedly threatened that if the money was not provided before 11 am of that fateful day to enable him travel back to Port Harcourt, he would do something crazy.

Unfortunately, the parents could not meet the deadline, as they failed to lay hands on the money after several efforts made to borrow from neighbours.

It was gathered that at exactly 11 am, when his parents broke the disappointing news to him, Ejike became very furious and warned them to leave the house for him in their own interest. “Few minutes after the parents went downstairs, his younger sister came in but he deceived her by asking her to go downstairs and buy an undisclosed item for him. Before she could get downstairs, a sound of gunshot was heard from the flat,” the eyewitness said.

The parents and sympathizers, who rushed upstairs only saw Ejike lying in the pool of his own blood, as he reportedly used his father’s double-barrel gun to shoot himself on the head.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident to Vanguard, yesterday said “the 27 year old Ejike Edwin at about 11.45am on October 30, 2009 took his father’s double-barrel gun, shot himself on the head and died immediately.”

RomanceDream Come True: Somali Man, '112', Weds Girl, 17 by saintneo(op): 7:15am On Oct 29, 2009
Somali man, '112', weds girl, 17

Hundreds of people have attended a wedding in central Somalia between a man who says he is 112 years old, and his teenage wife.

Ahmed Muhamed Dore - who already has 18 children by five wives - said he would like to have more with his new wife, Safia Abdulleh, who is 17 years old.

"Today God helped me realise my dream," Mr Dore said, after the wedding in the region of Galguduud.

The bride's family said she was "happy with her new husband".

Mr Dore said he and his bride - who is young enough to be his great-great-grand-daughter - were from the same village in Somalia and that he had waited for her to grow up to propose.

"I didn't force her, but used my experience to convince her of my love; and then we agreed to marry," the groom said.

The BBC's Mohamed Olad Hassan in Mogadishu says the marriage in the town of Guriceel is being hailed by Somalian historians as the first of its kind in the Horn of Africa nation for over a century.

i think that's a silly reason for a guy to dodge his girl's bills. also, he is really silly to rent a 3BD cos he wants to impress u.

however, it will be more silly if you are depending on him for t-fare. if u r really into him; why don't u go and tk a look - on the 2nd tot, if i were a girl, i would get a girl friend in d east whom i would put up w/ during that period.

RomanceRe: Responsible Bachelors Are Hard To Come By In Uk by saintneo(m): 6:06pm On Oct 21, 2009
@newdeal

Your post is great; however, I think you got some of your arguments wrong - check the red highlights.

Characteristics of Ladies: I believe most of our Ladies both International and Local get tricked into to PR of your 'knife wielding Yob'?

Love Life before Travel: I think there are lots of sensible Nigerians in the UK, especially the postgrads and grads who can really stand up to calls of responsibility.

@everyone
Please see this link https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-341048.0.html

newdeal:
I thought to bring this worrisome trend to general notice, it may be useful for one or two persons.

The rate at which vastly educated girls of African [mostly Naija] descent, lose their senses of self worth and sink into compromising relationships in the UK is worrisome. Let us make some distinctions here; apart from girls who were born here, every other marriageable girl here is either a legal or a not so legal   [my coinage] migrant. Those who belong to the later category are a different kettle of fish. That category requires special grace of God or special attributes to break into the class of the married! I am referring to those who belong to the first category. I work closely with a faith based NGO that deals with young adults and university students [counselling, career advise, job placements, etc] I noticed a lot of young and promising girls going into relationships that are patently doomed to fail. What do you say of a brilliant black university student running after a knife wielding Yob? [their euphemism for an aspiring criminal] or the one doing her MBA at the moment going out with a man who had 2 children from another woman he is not married to, but still see from time to time? She knew the relationship will not work, yet she is prepared to risk it, because there are no better options,
These are just few of such cases. The obvious reason is that there not enough responsible bachelors around. The few who are legally entitled to be here are either pursuing their careers or are already married. Those bachelors who have no papers and are not married are either too afraid to go near the educated girls, or busy sampling white girls, leaving only a very few who are willing to settle down with the many sisters that can offer access to Red Passport.

My blunt advise to unmarried sisters coming over here ?
Try and sort out your love life before jumping on the plane, to avoid situations like this. You are free to ignore this advise though, if your faith is big enough to see you through, but this is the reality!
