JUO:Didn't say the system is optimal or perfect. Merely sufficiently set up to be functional. There's always room for improvement. Who knows the orientation of her PV panels. Or the wiring set up (Ac side or DC side or both could be less than optimal). A lot of factors. What I meant is, with her equipment, things could be rearranged to work. However, in RE systems, the rule of thumb: work out your working load => size your battery bank to match your needs (if you require a bank, that is) => have PV array capable of recharging your battery bank (as a minimum requirement). |
c0ogumo:Simply awesome. How I wish I had your batteries! ..... even if just four of them. The wonders I'd be capable of ...... |
Things are a bit clearer now. Apparently, there's little (if anything) wrong with your system. I think we have an I/O mismatch (Input/Output) on our hands. It's not just the load on the system that matters but for how long the load is on and how the load varies with time (daytime load vs nighttime load) and other seemingly minor details which can bedevil a perfectly good RE system. @Frank (kiekie1): It's nice you've changed the name on your EP Solar CC as it's truly "iTracer" and not "eTracer". By the way, they're almost identical if not for the load output which boosts the iTracer's specs. |
bode4real:On that, you could trust Frank. Prompt business is his specialty. If any flaw, it's he's too prompt. |
odilibe:Any suitable replacement within the 3m dish reception capability in Western Nigeria? |
Talibanis:Signal from my Badr 4 is shaky and unstable during the day. My Nilesat 201 11938 V 27500 no longer shows. Does yours? |
tundebabzy:Yes, they're called cycling loads and can actually punch a hole in your calculations. The fact that their energy consumption varies (non-linear load) is one aspect. By the same fact, there will be periods of low drain and higher current surging through your system (the batteries should mop that up if your system is set up right and you're not always at 100% charge state). Surge drains have a way of pulling out more power (thereby shorteneing the runtime) of your power bank too. I live in Ilorin and just got my own system up (80%) and running (with assistance from Abunafiu on this thread). If you're anywhere close by, I could volunteer to take a quick look at your setup and offer advise. Inspection gives a lot more detail than description (from experience I speak). Finally, cloudy spells can appear unexpectedly (I've had a three day spell which doesn't seem ready to let up yet). Or your renewable energy setup might for some unanticipated reason require maintenance runs. You would be wise to consider a small backup generator powerful enough to run your freezer. |
I'm ready to install and considering a roof mount. Who in the house can supply pre-fab mounts. My PV panels are 1640mm x 992mm x 50mm. I currently have 6 of such panels. Richmond et al, do you have my specs? A swift reply would be appreciated. |
abunafiu:Oh, I might as well call you the protagonist in this flik. Many thanks PS: Did I mention all my orders came in via AbuNafiu? |
Please house, who's watching the MBC Channels on which satellite and which tps? |
kiekie1:I'll give it to you, you're good on your word and swift to deliver. Also eager to close a deal. Reliable Edit: AbuNafiu has been most helpful and he's been (and being) an ongoing advisor and project co-ordinator. Many thanks. |
jmaine:Though I'm familiar with the subject matter, the site was indeed fun to read and no less informative than comparative sites. Even comes with an array of competitively priced products. Thanks |
Ngr24:To the my knowing, MBC has left Nilesat altogether with the exception of their sports channels. Even their website affirms this. I don't understand how you're able to view MBC on 11938H 27500M/s. Kindly give details on how you're performing the feat |
In Anambra, if you're really good (and really patient), you might get away with using a 3.0m dish. Otherwise, safely start at 3.5m |
abunafiu:Deeply appreciated. I've responded appropriately. Thanks |
GeorgeD1:Perfectly so. My apologies. I failed to mention I've had a generic 1.4kVA inverter backed by two 200Ah batteries in parallel. I've a standby charger in case I need a quick "fix" to charge my batteries (the inverter charges a bit slower). This system can be keep me running for 24 hours and up to 36 hours. It's been doing that since 2008 when I returned to Ilorin. Discounting my heavy equipment (which never go on the backup power anyway), my total consumption is maxed out at 1400W in a day, typically about 900W. This is about max 400W during the day on weekends (which is when people are home) and up to 500W at night (if they're watching movies till 2am). I'd actually done a bit (translated = a lot)) of research on the subject matter and been using inverters since around the year 2000 (irregularly then but stable since 2008) and both savings and reliability is why I want to upgrade to a hybrid system. Don't get me wrong, if I knew it all, I wouldn't be here. My area of interest is power systems so I know enough to tell you the theoretical stuff and the application on the field don't always tally in results. Nor expectations. That's why I've voiced out my interest here. I've humbly come forward to glean from your extensive collective library of experience. Together we stick; apart we're stuck. I'm a DIY kinda guy and I don't wanna get stuck. Thanks once more. ALL helpful suggestions are welcome. And thanks GeorgeD1. Your response means a lot to me. |
It's embarrassing but I can't seem to track Eutelsat 7A (at 7°E) anymore. Can someone please give a reliable tracking frequency (with symbol rate and polarisation) plus LNBF skew and the dish's position in relation to a dish receiving DSTV (Eutelsat 36). Thanks |
No response yet but I've chosen not to PM anyone (yet) as I want others to learn something from my tryouts. I've learnt a lot of things in life from the tryouts of others too. Awaiting suggestions. Thanks |
Saipro:Crucial to me are reliable brand names and addresses and names of trusted suppliers. I'm considering - 250W 24V x 6 panels or 480W 24V x 4 for starters - MorningStar TS-MPPT-60 x 1 (if the first configuration) or MorningStar TS-MPPT-60 x 2 (if the second one). the first configuration appears cheaper (at least on the short run) - Trojan L16RE-A 6V batteries x 4 - Su-kam 1500VA/24V OR Su-kam 2000VA/24V inverter (either Torque or Shiny series). Kindly modify/ammend/rewrite as suitable Thanks |
Great job everyone. Been following the trhead for a few years now (since latching onto the complementary FTA thread). Been worried about the initial capital (despite minimal annual overhead) but the erratic spate of grid power supply has pushed me to my limits. I'm planning on investing in a 2kVA setup even though 1.5kVA should cater to my initial needs. My problem is I'm a stickler for what works and might be unwilling to expand later. I'm looking at getting 250W or 480W panels. Could any of the big boys in the house (preferable everyone of you guys) come up with a likely suitable configuration? This would include not just equipment but brands too. I want something reasonable in price yet won't gimme headaches. Please include both AC and DC surge arresters as I absolutely hate regrets. Thanks for your anticipated favourable contributions. On to you George_D, TotalGreen, BodeJohn et al |
Stanley08:If you're flashing the full firmware, there's a reasonable chance Odin might wipe your internal memory too - especially if it involves changing OS versions (upgrade or downgrade) |
austino677:Actually, Im looking for a JB (4.3) .pit file. Seen none on XDA Thanks |
Simply amazing |
I'm back! |
Please, I need the .pit (PIT) file to repartition a Galaxy Note 3 (Exynos chip, SM-N900). Can anyone please upload one? Thanks |
When I no be "jedi-jedi", wetin I dey examine woman yansh for? |
Dazzlee: And who are the vagabonds?Haba. It's not a hate-war. And sadly, you're grossly uninformed (not misinformed). Google is your friend. Get those facts straight. For the record, I'd rather maintain neutrality but there's way too much hatred and misunderstanding here. That's asides those whom are either misinformed or plainly uninformed |
SCRADO: in which country does a paramedic who's supposed to help the doctor become the leader of the unit(cmd)..don't knw y they seem to misunderstand the fact dat doctors are the head in the health sector...we're sitting on the throne,mehn..ain't got beef with nobody...This is not a battle of beef. Nor pork. Not even mutton fit the matter. It's about preserving what has been GLOBALLY established as best (not better or good) practices |
Sylverbox: you sound very intelligent but you don't seem to know much.I wonder why..... |
Don't let this thread die, please! Anyone tinker lately with their dish(es)? Any discoveries on: - Eutelsat 7W? - Eutelsat 8W C? - Eutelsat 8W A? Dish size limitations have hampered my rates of fiddling around. Let the men of the thread speak up |
Price - and varieties, if any |
IT4ALL: Lets talk on amos 5 with c-bandIf you're on to trying it out on a 90/100 cm dish, I'm in. |
