Apocalypse! |
stages: I had a miscarraige in june 2008 which traumatised me alot even though it was not a planned pregnancy but we accepted it and were ready to have the baby but unfortunately it came out at 12 weeks. I cried and was worried i might not be able to give birth in my life. Soon after that my then fiancé began pressurizing me to take in but i didnot want to coz my doctor adviced me to stay for some months. One year later we did our traditional wedding and my husband continued asking me to take in(u know it depends on the lady coz if she dos not want, then NO WAY) I wanted to get pregnant just before or after the civil and church wedding so i tried to talk to him. In september 2009 we decided to start trying to conceive. That month i cried my life when my menses came, i started googling everything concerning trying to conceive and even join the TTC thread on the health section. October we tried and still nothing. When i complained to my doctor he said not to worry and refused to give me any medication. November we tried but i knew nothing would happen but to my greatest surprise i missed my period (at dat time my guy was the one doing the counting.) Few weeks later the symptoms started. My God it was awful. I went for a pregnancy test and it was positive. days later i started spotting blood. I rushed to the hospital and forced the doctor to do a scan. he did and placed me on progestan. My December was a mess; i got sick, hospitalised and could not work for a whole month. no appetite, sensitive to smell, i could not even cook coz i would end up vomiting, my husband could not even used his perfume when i am around. Our civil and church wedding was scheduled for march. I went through all the stress of marraige preparations with this pregnancy and all the time i was scared somthing would happen to my baby. Thanx to God nothing happened to my baby, the wedding went on well and i started looking forward to my delivery date.Wifey had similar but worse. Took two trips to the operating theatre to fix her up. *shudders* |
apocalypse: I thought the nomenclature was rather apt. You understand where I'm coming from and where I'm going to , the only problem is how to get there. I'm not waiting on him to be successful but like you said - fortune smiles on anyone as it pleases. I'm always wary of how I treat people now cos tomorrow I can be on the receiving end.You ought have told me sooner and in person. Knowing both Kane & Abel, I could have made quick work of reasoning with them. You should have faith in friends & learn to discuss problems with them. I'd have gladly helped out any of the times I'd been around. |
My observation is a bit stranger: I have a perfectly working setup on a 60cm dish for viewing MultiTV & DSTV channels. I relocate the whole set to my dad's place & the MultiTV channels start misbehaving. And as most other people had observed, it occured right about the satellite migration period. Funny thing is, I took the pains to return the setup to my place to test a hunch. Truly, the signals are more stable than Nigerian corruption prevalence. I return the setup to his place and bam! it shows more static than a solar storm. Not to mention frequent signal outages. It may be related to something operating on a harmonic frequency, as suggested by favour112. Or the fact that mine is nested in the shadow of the house at the junction of two walls while his is quite close to the roof (rim spillover noise & heat distortion/deterioration of signals, anyone?). |
obnelly: ADD is not possible with 2.4m not even on 3m with 4m you have it running by 6pm it will disapper.I think you need 5.5-6mHmm. I get ADD on my dad's 3m dish. It appears on my 2.6m dish early mornings & late evenings. Location: Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria |
Ilish: DSTV has the following HD channelsA ha! You answered my next question before I asked it. I was certain (though KingOfSat get it wrong at times) that Nigerian DSTV doesn't broadcast THAT many HD channels. All's fair. Lately, the combinations of Nilesat & JoyTV with Amos 5 & Eutelsat 16 seem to best DSTV. I may have paid my last quarterly subscription (which I do simply because my wife & her friends love African Magic channels - non of which come in HD) |
zobo-i-zee:I wish someone would gimme the frequencies for the elusive SS 4&5 in HD. They proved evasive during network scan. Even evaded blind scans. |
Saipro: Got the 4922 HD |
Saipro: Got the 4922 HDNot quite as beautiful: - poor (weak) inline amplifier - somewhat unstable tuner - excessively high volume boost - HDMI, yes. Lost component & RF (who uses RF anyway?) otherwise, still a beaut, even in looks. |
agitator: he already quoted the post and replied, then discovered it was confusing and quoted again and pointed to his initial reply which is above the post you quoted. Thanks but at the time of writing my post, the reply was quite different. And he humbly (and quietly) made amends. Quite admirable. I almost missed his amendments. He's earned both my respect & admiration. |
Ibaku: Auch n co, is any one still having green on these phela tps 12034 h 27500, 11881 h 27500 pls ? spy005: @ ibaku check my replyUnless you're up to something illegal or wrong, I believe the original question was thrown into the open & an open reply would be beneficial to more than just a person |
Got the 4922 HD It's beautiful. I'm on the second day. Gimme a few more days to relay feedback. |
Saipro: My MBC channels are gone! Has the worst happened? The scary shít was a false alarm. The channels are back. A brown-out? Warning cuts? My blood pressure's rising! |
My MBC channels are gone! Has the worst happened? |
auchs: santa cruz will visit you today! frequencies for both jsc 1-4 on nile 102 and jsc 5-10 on nile 201Congrats! Lucky you for nailing those channels. I can also see you did a blind scan. But before your euphoria fades & the elation leaves your bones, I'd like to set you off on a little, pesky quest: You see, I wish I had your Humax with your 3m dish. But I don't. I get the same signal strength on my 2.6m fibre dish & SRT 4669X II. In Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria. My request if for you to either knock down one of the MENA channels on Eutelsat 7W (roughly same spatial location on the West coast) or tackle Euronews/BBC on Nilesat 201. Then tell us how you did it. It's driving me nuts as my yard can't accommodate a 5m dish (I had to unearth & relocate my ground mount in order to even tolerate the 2.6m dish) |
d33nz: Hi, i realy need Ur help Guys am Usin the bigest dish 3m and am Usin str4663 bt i Only get nilesat 102 ![]() ![]() Welcome to my world of pain & frustration. Anyway, go to LyngSat, FlySat or any of the other popular sites and input the the NWA beam frequencies (you find there) on your receiver & scan. The available channels ought popup effortlessly. Regarding the MENA beam, investigations are ongoing. And 3m isn't really the biggest out there ... |
Wrong thread but I'm sure someone here has tried tracking MBC on Badr @ 26E. I'm trying to draft a backup plan for when MBC migrates to Eutelsat 7W & becomes (possibly) unreceivable by we <3.0m dish owners. Though my simple setup with an "ordinary" cut-up LNBF on a fibre 2.6 dish bests many guys (in Southern/Western/Eastern Nigeria) on a reception basis (@68%). Can't bank on that for the seemingly imminent migration (Eutelsat 7W). Focused help would be much appreciated. PS: Has anyone noticed Eutelsat 7W (dubbed Nilesat 107) is slightly off from Nilesat 102 & 201. Noticed a while back but thought it worthwhile mentioning for guys tracking either satellite (it's infinitely easier tracking Al Jazeera on Eutelsat 7W as a start-off point) |
olenyi: Seems u didn't get my post. I saidDesperately needed a crossed RS 232 cable over the weekend, couldn't lay hands on one. Eventually cut up small short lengths of wire - and it worked! |
petfun4u: The staellite u are looking for is on 7 degree West. Use this TP tp track 11938v27500.I'm aware the desired channels exist elsewhere like Badr 4 @ 26E, albeit not on your current size of dish. |
I've used the other Strong receivers with no issue. I'm considering biting the bullet & moving one step beyond. I've read a lot of whitepapers but that's all they are - print. I want advise from guys who've tested either (or both) in the real world. Which would you recommend, 4922 or 4930 (with reasons)? Much appreciated |
I'd like to believe Ameboperoo & Olenyi aren't the only other people on Nairaland who are on a Nilesat quest. Contributions are welcomed. No, they are in fact solicited & requested for. Thanks! |
Ameboperoo: u r very right and after those channels popped up, he went aheadYou really can't fault my fiddling & tweaking. I had to test the limits of signal reception. Moreover, I'm darn certain everyone on this forum has trodden the same path, some much more than others. Let's however not lose focus of the lesson to be learnt here: those channels aren't the exclusive preserve of 4m & beyond dish owners. I'll give further feedback AFTER my LNBs arrive |
olenyi: Fiddling/tweaking ur dish by 1 am. I'would say dat's a clear case of ASAS right there.I don't quite remember denying ASAS. In fact, my wife had long since pointed out the diagnosis even before the syndrome hit this forum. That being said, Nilesat signals peak around midnight to 2:00 am. Just to pique your interest, yes, I've charted Nilesat signals over a 24-hour period. More than once. And as Ibaku said, they're pretty strong in the morning. But stronger late at night. Speaking of ASAS, you're replying my post at 4 O'clock in the morning. |
Ibaku: Saipro,if u are no longer receiving those channels like cnn n osn, it simply means the new nilesat 201 is out of your reach. why not try again these time in the morning using dubai one tp.Made an interesting discovery last week: the channels I seek are now on Eutelsat 7W. And they aren't quite out of reach; merely annoying to lock onto. More importantly, last night about 1:00am while fiddling with the equipment, Al Jazeera hit 82% and behold, a couple of them popped up again! Further fiddling lost the signal but I've ordered 3 LNBs (Inverto red, black & Invacom). When they arrive, I'll fiddle some more. Just took delivery of two DiseqC 1.1 switches as I intend to maximize LNBs on my 90cm & 100cm dishes. My Nilesat dish is 2.6m fibre and I live in Ilorin. Cheers! |
The KKTVs & Elijah TV are stable on 12.560V symbol rate 3095 Other MultiTV channels at 97% KKTV channels at 74% |
As an addendum: I tried reading a few pages back & I discovered some "urban myths" 1. The need for MultiTV to hit 90% for KKTV to appear. Myth. I was watching it albeit with a little delay when I had a 60 cm dish & MultiTV at 68%. 2. And it was on up till this morning hence "demythifying" those who claim the channel is off-air. I did however notice that the more the LNB is skewed anti-clockwise (in order to increase MultiTV signal reception), the more difficult KKTV reception becomes 3. 4SYTE hasn't so much as flickered since coming back; and it's so noisy, I had to set its audio level to "low" in order to compensate for the level on other channels I'm actually an FTA enthusiast with a plethora of knowledge but rarely visit forums hence my seeming inactivity. I've built dishes, reassembled & fixed/tweaked everything that could be tampered with. I think I'd like to be of use as knowledge shared is knowledge gained. |
Weird thing on my 90 cm dish: I spent about an hour relocating & subsequently repositioning my dish. I now have 98% quality AND level on MultiTV; KKTV is 98% & 77% respectively. |
Memory card make? |
olenyi: First make sure u got all ur frequencies correctly inputed if u blind scan and still nothing. Then try getting a better lnb to see if dia's gonna be an improvment. Ibaku: Saipro,if u are no longer receiving those channels like cnn n osn, it simply means the new nilesat 201 is out of your reach. why not try again these time in the morning using dubai one tp.I'm grateful for your advise. Better yet, your willingness to assist. However, my LNB is pretty good too. Ripe & custom enhanced. I've managed to now hit 70% for MBC channels (unprecedented for me). As proffered, I'll rest for now, I'm apparently well beyond the fringes of the satellite's footprint. I'll try again some other time. Or sooner if someone hits green on the sought after channels. Cheers |
Asked before. Asking again. Nilesat. Excellent reception. Al Jazeera had always been in the 82-89% range for level. Quality 97/98%. MBC channels 52-62% depending on prevalent weather. Since the migration, quite a number of channels fell off, notably the free news channels. OSN too. Recent tweaking got MBC up to 67% (65-69%). Al Jazeera at 72% Still no OSN, Euronews, CNN etc I'm soliciting for ideas, suggestions, instructions, and technical-know-how Thanks! |
