Syncan: From today's Gospel MT 16:13-19
"When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”"
Wow! Deep promises. Oh how secured it is to be under the guidance of the church, the church assured of security against the gates of the underworld. To no individual was such an assurance made, but to the church of Christ, the one built upon the one whom the Lord called rock(Peter). So wonderful is this assurance to saints such that they derive consolation by the very thought of it. A beautiful soul, a great saint and mystic, St. Theresa of Avila had to proclaim with confidence and joy at her dying bed ""I die a daughter of the Church". How on the contrast you see these days, people say "I am a catholic, but I don't agree with all they do". End time tinz you may want to shout... and I will say "exactly"! Humility teach the saints the truth about the beauty and merits of being under the guidance of the church, While arrogance and pride teach sinners that they are wiser and holier than the church's magisterium. See where it has got us, countless number of groups; teaching countless contradictory doctrines, yet claiming the Holy Spirit as the source of their teachings. How convenient! The Holy Spirit is not an author of confusion 1Cor 14:33 . The church and only the church, the one established by Jesus, the one Jesus built on the rock/Peter, the one he told Peter to shepherd when he said "feed my sheep" Jn 21:17, is the only secure refuge, for to no one else but the church; is addressed these words "the pillar and ground of truth" 1Tim 3:15 . Since the truth sets one free, only as a child of the church can one be truly free. I am a son of the church, are you?
Today, let me walk in prayer with Jnrbayano, as you live your faith in this period of lent, may you merit in the powers of the church to bind or loose, may the works of your hands be established, and the joy of the Lord be your strength in life's journey ahead.
Good morning brethren, a splendid day ahead to all. Onye kwuputaram n'iihu ndi mmadu, agam ekwuputa ya n'ihu nnam no na-eluigwe. Your efforts will never go unnoticed, and your reward is assured. The Lord be with you. |

dhardline: That teaching will only lead one to hell,it is the devils tool to destroy many.
The simple reason is: Why strive to be sanctified here on earth if i can archieve that when i die in
purgatory?
Remember the bible said 'After death is judgement'. No intermediaries. Did you read the post? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Purgatory In The Bible? by SalC: 9:36am On Feb 21, 2016 |
Too long.
Purgatory is misunderstood by many.
Many think Catholics preach purgatory for unrepentant sinners which is not so.
My advice: Strive to make heaven not purgatory, but if you end up with a sin not unto death, God in his infinite mercy can grant you purgatorial sanctification.
If you continue in sin hoping to be purified in purgatory, hell awaits you. |

Achuwa1: SalC,,,or wat u call ur self,OBIAGELLI was right ,it is obviously clear tht u can't comprehend,,, You are the one having issues with comprehension here, even Obiagelli admitted it was her personal understanding. Atleast you should be objective. Am not one to take your assumption for a fact till it is proven. You can choose to say he walked in through Sahara desert. I await a proof his passport wasn't stamped. |

Achuwa1: 'salC' or whatever u call ur self,,stop behaving like an illiterate.. kanu didn't come into the country thru the airports, either he came in illegally via land & didn't pass thru the immigration check @ the border even though he had his passports with him.. . So stop arguing blindly. You aren't sure of what you just wrote. You are mere guessing so why should I take your word for it? |
Politics › Re: Why Does Zahra Buhari Have A British & Nigerian Passport? by SalC: 11:15am On Feb 16, 2016 |
Obiagelli: Another serious case of comprehension problem, you expect me to spell everything in ABC for you?
None of his passport got stamped. Is there any evidence to this or just your thought? |
Politics › Re: Why Does Zahra Buhari Have A British & Nigerian Passport? by SalC: 10:51am On Feb 16, 2016 |
Obiagelli: Buhari accused Kanu of entering the country without either of his passports. Tell us when his daughter did same. Too many people with comprehension problem Like seriously Nnamdi Kanu entered Nigeria without passport according to Buhari, and Nnamdi Kanu's counsel applied for the release of his two passports seized by DSS upon his arrest. The DSS did not deny being in possession of his 2 passports. Where then did they get them from since according to Buhari he came in with non. Someone is definitely lying here. |
