ASUU, just one question for you. How come ASUP (Polytechnics' version of ASUU) are at home with IPPIS and you're not? Just like Balotelli asked... WHY ALWAYS YOU? |
My school pays the least salary in the whole of Southern Nigeria. IPPIS will stop that. ASUU knows that their 'shoppings' don finally end be that. All those lecturers carrying girls upandan will now have to live to their means. Very anyhow people |
The Barcelona and Argentina forward sat down with TyC Sports to give his view on VAR, strike partners, his return from injury and his future dreams. With El Clásico being postponed this weekend, Lionel Messi spoke with TyC Sports giving insights on World Cup dreams (in an advance), how the VAR system was working in practice, his favourite players and much more. Here are some of the highlights of that conversation with the Barcelona and Argentina talisman. Messi on VAR “I like VAR if it is used well. What I don’t like is that it was brought in to clear up doubts, but it is still not doing that. “In the end, they [the decisions] are still determined by the referee, or another referee in the box, and are not based on what is really happening in the move. It’s a very good thing but is not being well used.” Messi on his current physical condition “I first arrived and started by training really hard, which I shouldn’t have done. I had been out for a full month and I came back and trained as if I had been doing so for some time. “After that I had a relapse, thinking it was one thing and then another. But now that’s over. I feel strong again and little by little I’m finding my rhythm.” Messi on his first goal for Barcelona “The ball didn’t settle, it bounced off a defender, then I touched it back to Ronaldinho and I waited. “He lifted it over to me, and I lobbed the goalkeeper. I liked the similiar one that was ruled out earlier [for offside]. That annoyed me into action.” Messi on strike partners “Rondaldinho helped me a lot. I came into the dressing room at 16-17 years of age, seeing all those footballing giants made it tough. “But he mentored me and made me feel comfortable, and I loosed up. Afterwards on the pitch, I always looked for him but we didn’t have many years to enjoy together. Besides, we didn’t play as much at that time. I would have liked to play more with Ronaldinho.” “I have played five years with Luis Suárez. Playing every 3 days, you get used to each other and play by heart. We have children of the same age, spend our lives together every day, and the relationship is growing ever stronger.” Messi on the best ever striker “Ronaldo De Lima [Nazario] was a phenomenon, Of all the strikers I ever saw, he was the best. He was unbelievable.” Messi on future and retirement “I don’t want to leave here. I can’t think of moving away from Barcelona. I have a dream of being able to play at Newell’s, in Argentine football, but I don’t know if it will happen. I have a family and they come before my own desires.” Cc. The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan,has said that implementation of the new percentage increments for staff on levels 7 to 17 as agreed with Labour will take effect immediately. Asked by newsmen how soon the implementation would take effect, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, said the government would begin the process immediately. She said, “It has been a very fruitful deliberation in the past three days because both sides sat to work out this agreement. Everybody contributed to arrive at this agreement. It is good the labour and government could sit together to agree in a constructive manner. “Work will start on the implementation immediately. We will work out the arrears definitely. The important thing is that we have an agreement, once the arrangement has been made, payment will begin as soon as we get the proper sums together. What we have done is just the percentages, we still have to work out the proper sums and the implementation will begin.” Meanwhile, The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, said the organised labour was able to get a good deal from the Federal Government during the negotiation for consequential adjustment arising from the new minimum wage of N30,000. Early on Friday, a meeting that began on Thursday came to an end as the Federal Government and organised labour agreed on 23.2 percentage increase for workers at grade level 07; 20 per cent for those at grade level 08; 19 per cent for workers at grade level 09; 16 per cent for those on levels 10 to 14; and 14 per cent for workers at grade levels 15 to 17. Speaking after the meeting, Wabba said, “The process of collective bargaining is about ‘give and take’ as I have said. I think this is a greater improvement from where we started and with what we have been able to achieve. “The bottom line is that we have come to the end of the issue of consequential adjustment and both parties participated in the process and made inputs. Workers can now expect something they can rely on to address some of the challenges that the economy has posed.” The labour leader said the agreement also meant that state councils of labour unions would have a template to negotiate with state governments. He added, “The guidelines will be transmitted to the state councils and they will work in harmony as we have done at the centre. The joint council, Trade Union Congress and NLC will work to ensure that implementation takes effect.” Cc. miketayo:That's not true. Contiss is for non academic staff in federal institutions. I'm a non academic staff on level 7 step 3 and I earn over 85k. Get your facts right oga |
Vickean04:Hmm nice information. Feelers from staff of my school is that they earn lesser than their counterparts from other federal universities (both academic and non academic). Though they're hoping that once they join IPPIS, that will change. Contiss salary structure for graduates( senior staff) starts from level 7 step 2 or 3 as the case may be. What is the salary for contiss 7 step 2 or 3 (non academic staff) across all federal institutions in Nigeria. Do you know sir? |
Oluwabusobomi:Is that UNN? ![]() Don't worry, IPPIS will correct that |
roman1755:That's a bit harsh bro. I created this thread because I didn't see where clarifications were made on how the new minimum wage will be calculated either by labour or FG. The post about the agreement by labour and FG on Nairaland and other news media was not specific on the question I raised on this thread, hence, the need to get more insights from others who might be privy to such information. Calculating percentages has never been the problem. Especially for a former banker. Have a good day |
roman1755:Thanks for the heads up. On another note, can you help with a template of salaries of civil servants on contiss level 7 and above (university non academic)? Need to clarify something |
miketayo:That's so wrong. A (contiss) level 7 earns 90k. Get your facts right |
seunmsg:OK bro. I'm on contiss and needed to know whether the increment is on gross or basic pay. I have gotten the right info now. Thanks |
kevoh:Thank you. This answers my question. Now I'm good |
Dsourcee:This is not correct. FG can't initially propose 10k increment across board for level 7 and above which was strongly rejected by labour, only for them to settle for an amount lower than the 10k FG initially proposed |
It's no longer news that the organized Labour and Federal Government reached an agreement on consequential adjustment for the implementation of the new minimum wage for staff on levels 7 to 17. The niggling question is.. If level 7 staff will see 23.3% increment on their salaries due to the new minimum wage as agreed by both parties on Wednesday, will it be calculated with their basic or the total take home for the month (basic plus allowances)? This need to be cleared to know if this much debated new minimum wage is anything to write home about or not. can we get opinions on this? |

Barcelona megastar Lionel Messi has explained why it’s so difficult to play against Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk. Messi came up against Van Dijk during the Champions League semi-final last season, scoring twice in the first leg as the Catalans won 3-0 at Camp Nou, before being shut down in the return leg at Anfield as Liverpool won 4-0 en route to winning the competition. Talking with Spanish news outlet Marca, Messi has pointed out why Van Dijk is such an outstanding opponent. Messi said: “He is a defender that knows how to judge the timing and wait for the right moment to get in or hold on. “He is very fast and big, but he has a lot of agility for his height. “He is fast because of his great stride and is impressive, both in defence and attack, because he scores many goals. Van Dijk beat Messi to UEFA’s player of the year award before the Barcelona man won the Best FIFA awards last month. The pair will face off again for the prestigious Ballon d’Or in December, with Van Dijk currently odds-on favourite ahead of Messi. phaamsaam:Madrid will scale it. Their opponent has been rotten this season. As for Newcastle, Chelsea will be too good for them to handle. Against Spurs, Newcastle didn't play particularly well, just that Spurs were disjointed. |
